Excellent service from these two!

Enjoyed the tasty hospitality of Schnitzelbank at a recent anniversary party they catered. Excellent service. Over and above!

Very German restaurant and gift shop. Glockenspiel chimes outside 2 minutes after the hour. Salad bar ($6. with entree), with soups and light desserts, then can order from menu for an entree or ample choices on salad bar alone. Entrees include German favorites, non- German choices and sandwiches, sides. My pork chops with kraut was not what I expected. Chops were tough ( smoked but did not mention that on menu), and kraut was sweet. The gift shop has many lovely, cute German products and foods for sale.

We had the giant pretzel with cheese sauce. The pretzel was tasty, but the cheese sauce was pretty bland. We had dinner salads that were really big & fresh. My husband had goolash for dinner & enjoyed it alot. I had shrimp skewers and a loaded baked potato. The shrimp were good, but a bit chewy. The potato was kinda hard to eat bc it had been broiled & the cheese was a bit browned. Even though we were really full, we were encouraged to try the carrot cake. Well, of course, we HAD to get a piece to-go. I had a few bites and it's soft & spicy. The rest will be for tomorrow.

Pros: great food, inviting vibes, very friendly and capable waiting staffs, ample seating, plenty of parking Cons: not much!!! Maybe food can be a tad too salty. This is my favorite restaurant in southern Indiana!

What a gem in the middle of Indiana! We drove to find a Hilton and wanted a local restaurant that had quality food. Boy did we find it! Amazing menu and decent prices. So worth the drive!!! Only my trip to Germany was better!

Okay, so I'm making my way through a Midwestern town and I stumble across a Swiss looking Chalet.... How could I NOT stop? Giant pretzels? I'd never seen a chilled metal salad plate before! And the service??! Of course, how could it be anything but top notch from someone wearing costume right out of the Bavarian Alps? The ambiance was such that I thought I was in Switzerland for a commercialized second. Such a fun alternate midwestern reality! Oh, and the food was great too! I think I'll be back. In fact I might travel back to Indiana just to eat here again!

Schnitzelbank is worth pulling off the interstate for! A lovely German restaurant with a fun gift shop is a recipe for leaving stuffed and happy. All the German standards are on their menu along with a salad bar that is worth adding to your meal if only for the delicious bread. The food did have its hits and misses but was overall pretty good for its location. The mustard they provided is the best I've ever had and worth driving there for. Pass on the apple strudel - it's actually not good. Service was good and portions were big!

My wife and I stopped for our 28th anniversary meal. First off the restaurant is charming. We can definitely see the German influence as soon as you pull in the parking lot. We were greeted well and taken to our table quickly. The food was exceptional. There was nothing that we had that we did not like. It was authentic, it was delicious, and if it was closer to me, I would visit often. I enjoyed the three meat sampler in which everything was perfect from the German potatoes to the dishes I have no idea how to spell. We ended our day with German chocolate pie. The icing on the cake!

First time trying German food and was not disappointed! Very good food and quick service and they had homemade rootbeer on tap.

If you go to Jasper, IN to spend any time at all, make time to go to Schnitzelbank. To the locals, it's known as "the Schnitz"! The have a variety of American food like chicken tenders, hamburgers, steaks, pork chops, etc. There's also a comprehensive list of traditional German dishes. The service was outstanding and spot on with refills. There was a full list of wines and beers in tap and in bottles. The servers all wear German style clothing which adds to the ambiance of a nice family restaurant.

I ordered the Jägerschnitzel with kraut on the side. I enjoy a good kraut--this is the best I've had. The schnitzel was crispy and juicy and the mushroom gravy did its part to pull the dish together without overpowering it or making it bland. We visited on a Saturday evening, and were able to be seated right away. Our server was helpful, suggesting a dish for our picky toddler, and the food came out quickly. In the spirit of full disclosure, the house was not packed. We were one of 4 or 5 tables dining at the time. In sum, this is a restaurant that impressed me, and did a good enough job that I was inspired to write my first Yelp review. I recommend if you are in Seymour or the surrounding area.

The server seemed dazed and confused. We asked him questions but he didn't seem to know anything. We absolutely love German food so we were excited. However, this wasn't really German food. First, how does a German restaurant not have German beer on tap? Then I ordered the schnitzel. It wasn't pounded out correctly and was too thick to be considered schnitzel. The breading had no seasoning. My husband (vegetarian) ordered the veggie melt, which was on the menu, but he was told they no longer make it. He ended up getting a "sides plate." When it arrived, there were 4 of the smallest portions of sides ever. Why not just make spaetzel a main dish? Voila, you have a vegetarian option! My daughter ended up getting a pretzel because the spaetzel she wanted had too many other ingredients in it for her liking. That's on us not the restaurant. Overall, as German restaurant connoisseurs, we were disappointed.

As you can see in the picture, they looked, and tasted like frozen fish fillets that you can get at any local grocery store. The inside more closely resembled fish mush than actual fish. Others' food tasted fine, but some came out barely warm, as was the case with my German potatoes. While the restaurant had a small town charm and friendly staff, I can't say that I will be back. The long wait wasn't worth the mediocre food.

We decided to go for dinner on Sunday evening and at first we were seated inside. It was a bit stuffy inside and so we asked Ian, our waiter, if we could sit outside and keep him as our server. He said yes and we sat in their clean and comfortable outdoor seating area. Unsure of what to order, I asked Ian for a recommendation. He said their pizza was really good and we could get a 16" unlimited topping pizza with breadsticks for $31. Let me tell you, his recommendation was absolutely incredible. The pizza came out hot fresh more toppings than you could ask for and the breadsticks were just as good! This pizza for sure is one of the top five best pizzas I have had at a restaurant. If you get the chance and are in French lick for any amount of time, make sure you go to Kelley's and order the pizza! My wife and I both highly recommend!

There were 4 of us in our party and we were seated at a table in the corner near the bar. Was definitely a cozy spot with so many people being in there and the bar being full. I had The Holy Ghost cocktail and it was a pomegranate hibiscus sour, it had just the right amount of sour! I do not like bitter drinks and this one was good and easy to drink. My husband had a couple of dark beers, I do not remember which ones but he liked them.
