I would definitely not recommend this place unless you like greasy food, a club sandwich served on a bun and poor service.

My partner and I was there at Schooner pub this past weekend for lunch and we were excited to try out the food because it was right next to the lake. Upon entering, we were greeted by a wonderful staff that told us we could sit up in the 4-season patio area and she even helped cleared up a table for us so we could get the best seat looking at the lake view. It was a beautiful 4 season patio area with a few people dining in there. When she left, our server Samantha F. was annoyed because we needed a few minutes to look over the menu. We didn't take long to scan through the menu but when we were ready to order, I had a question about what the WTF Burger Carolina BBQ sauce was, and she grunted and said, "She didn't know, and it is just a yellow BBQ sauce." I didn't think much about her impatience towards us because the view was nice, and we were just trying to have a good time. We decided to try the WTF Burger out along with the Western BBQ burger and some cheese curds. The food came out with a different server, and it was great! We ran out of water while enjoying our food and the view and our server Samantha F. never came to check on us after we placed our order with her or looked our way when we were trying to get her attention. She ignored our table even though it was a small patio area and everyone can hear everyone's conversations. She was having conversations with everyone else in the room for quite some time going from table to table except ours and when we finished our food, we waited quite a while to get our check. She made multiple trips to all the tables next to ours and gave everyone else their checks while we were waiting and trying to get her attention. Even the table next to us felt uncomfortable because of how long we were waiting for our server. Since we had other plans, we went up to ask her if we can pay at the counter with her. She didn't say anything, took our card and threw her paying device on the counter for us to sign and just left to go talk to another white customer. Everyone has a rough day here and there but being racist is not having a rough day. Samantha F. was racist and intentional on how she made the experience for us. We've never felt so discriminated and disgusted. We will not be coming back to this place and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. When hiring your staff, please make sure your staff correctly reflects the establishment you want to create and maintain. read more

Hour and a half for food to arrive to table. Half hour to get a glass of beer. Half of food was cold. When we described our poor experience to the supervisor, she responded "have you ever worked in a kitchen before?" After we asked for a reduced bill, they offered a forty % off gift card for our next visit. We explained we live several hours away they said it was all they can do. Stopped by here with a friend while doing some late season fishing. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries. The burger was cooked medium, was juicy, hot, as were the fries and arrived fairly quickly. The have a good beer selection and I enjoyed a couple of pints. The bartender upstairs was helpful and I enjoyed talking about motorcycles with him. We will be back again next time we are in town. read more

Here's a quaint little pub on the downtown streets of Port Washington. Stopped in for a bite to eat while sightseeing. The staff and bartenders were amazing, polite, and very attentive. Their special on the menu today was elk burgers with chips. We both ordered the elk burgers and found them very delicious. Very lean and flavorful meat. Along with an order of their batter dipped french fries, we were justifiably pleased. I noticed there was numerous patrons, so the word is out on this place. Next time we're in Port Washington we're going back. read more

The service here was NOT good. Our server was not friendly. She was also absent most of the time. We had to hunt her down to get another drink. We waited for our food for 45 minutes while tables around us that were seated after us, received their food. Definitely feel that this was a server related issue. The other server in the area seemed great. We were never greeted, never asked how are food was, never thanked....you get the idea. This was an hour and a half that we wished would have been so much better. Would not recommend. read more

Service is outstanding here. I find it rare to meet such upbeat and friendly staff at a pub but they were wonderful. We came late at night and never made us feel rushed. The drink suggestions were great. I tried several of the new "Bubbler" drinks and they were so good I hope I find them back in Washington where we're from. The chicken sandwich is really good. Bacon is crispy, chicken is tender. We love the siracha cheese curds! So so good! We'll be back lots! read more

There wasn't anything about Schooner's that blew me away. We walked in and the bartender immediately told us about the daily special, which consisted of an 'awesome' chicken sandwich with chipotle sauce, chips, and a pickle. It sounded good so we pulled up a stool. Cut to the meal: the chicken sandwich tasted microwaved and the bartender proceeded to tell me that the chipotle sauce was from a good ole' Hellmann's. I have nothing against Hellmann's, but why couldn't he just let me pretend that the sauce was homemade at the bar? The chips that the sandwich came with were the same Jay's potato chips I've eaten at just about every barbeque throughout my existence. Everything tasted average at best, and I could have done better at home. This is disappointing when you drop $30 on two sandwiches and two beers. We ordered wings, which were surprisingly crispy...that was probably the best part of the meal. The only issue there was that the wings were an appetizer, but actually arrived after our sandwiches. There's another review on here about the service...I will say that the employees I encountered didn't have much of a filter. I really enjoy talking to local people behind the bar and love it when they're candid, but this experience just felt off. The beer selection was average at best too. There just wasn't anything memorable about Schooner's, as there are so many other places with better food for a better value. I won't return. read more

First visit to Schooner Pub & Grill - it was a treat to sit on their warm, covered & glass enclosed, lakeside deck/ patio overlooking lake Michigan. Our bartender / server was excellent, she made our visit special with excellent and accommodating hospitality. Our adult beverages were excellent and our food was delicious - fun time. They are located on the opposite end of the Duluth Trading store. Visit them for home town hospitality, excellent food, and a wonderful view of the Port Washington Harbor and break wall. read more

Went there last night with a group of friends. Ordered a captain and ginger from the bartender and he gave me the captain and coke. I informed him I asked for a different drink . He then asked me if I wanted it or not with a huge amount of attitude like I was being impossible. I said no, I wanted a captain and ginger. It wasn't till then that he informed me he didn't have ginger. He angrily grabbed the drink from the bar top and slammed it down behind the bar. This guy was angry at the world and wanted to take it out on the patrons. Maybe his ponytail was pulled too tight. I will never step foot in there again. Reading another review its easy to understand that bartenders have been out in the streets fighting with customers. If I could rate it less than one star I would. read more

My husband and I live in Port Washington so during these crazy times of Covid we're looking for a place with outside seating. We've been there before but never sat on the enclosed deck with it's gorgeous view! My husband had the buffalo burger which he really liked and I had a very good Chef Salad. Last night was the first and last time we will go to Schooners. The bartenders were awful. They just ignored us every time we tried to get drinks. One of the bartenders made very innappropriate comments to a female that was with us and actually ran has hand across her back when he brought our food to the table. The food was not good either. Very greasy. Tasted like the fryers were not cleaned for a long time. We left and went to some other bars. As we were walking back to the car at the end of the night, the Schooners bartenders were fighting with some customers outside. We couldn't believe it. We will never go back. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews. But this was such a negative experience and I needed to post. My fault for not reading the reviews before stepping foot inside. I flew in to Milwaukee and drove to Port Washington. I saw this charming pub and decided to give it a try. When I ordered the man working the bar was irritated and short. In mid-order he just turned around and walked away. A few minutes later he came back. The fried mushrooms and chicken nuggets were so overdone. I couldn't tell the difference between the two. Gross and disappointing. Never coming back again if I'm ever in town. read more

Stopped in for an impromptu dinner while touring Port Washington on a hot and humid August evening. The friendly bartender took our order as we walked past the bar to sit on the open air room overlooking PW Marina. What we ate was simple bar food. My husband had a buffalo burger, and I had a perch sandwich with a side of onion rings. The perch sandwich included three generous sized pieces of perch. Overall, the experience was good. So, my husband and I walked into this bar with the intention of grabbing a quick bite to eat and grabbing a cold beer. The wait staff we encountered seemed friendly enough and encouraged us to grab a seat wherever we desired. The establishment was not busy by any means. We left after 10 minutes of no contact. It's a shame to give this place such a low rating but it goes to show that good customer service goes a long way. The view of the Lake Michigan harbor must keep the doors open because if that pub was located somewhere else it would be closed. read more

We came on a Saturday and the downstairs was filled with what looked like fresh 21 year olds rowdy and very loud. There were 2 bartenders a female and male. The male didn't leave the end of the bar that was cluttered with young girls wearing barley any clothing and the female was all over the place tryIng to pick up where he was slacking. Between my husband and I we waited at the bar trying to get served for 20 minutes the male made eye contact with us a several times but wouldn't leave the corner with the girls even tho they were ordering drinks. We ended up having to go upstairs where there was a delightful bartender who took our money and made our drinks soon as he spotted us. We got quarters and went back downstairs played pool and darts and by this time the crowd of kids had faded. When we asked the male that was so busy before for quarters he seemed upset because he was behind the bar eating and on his phone. He huffed and gave us more quarters. I surely wouldn't have stayed but it was the only bar with a pool table freed up. Next time we come to port if we walk in and the same male bartender is there we will be turning around and leaving. This is really like two separate bars. The downstairs is pretty dark which I didn't spend too much time in. The upstairs is where I went, they recently re-did the patio which over looks Lake Michigan and the Port Washington lighthouse. Much more natural light in the upstairs. The bar food was, well, bar food. Not a bad spot. Just a warning, all sandwiches/burgers come with chips, no fries. read more

Waitress completely forgot our order which would not have been the end of the world had the food been descent. But, it wasn't. I recommend a different restaurant in Port. Would never go here again. The server we had was flirting with me and my husbands friend so hard, to the point it was blatantly obvious she was pressing her breasts together with her arms as she poured his beer. My beer was warm. Cheese curds were good. Burgers were the worst I've ever had. Microwaved maybe. They came with potato chips, which were likely Jay's, and they were super stale. Was told that I had to try Schooner Pub. I was sorry I did. Not only was the place filthy, but I have never met a more rude or obnoxious bartender, a bartender that also happens to be the owner. He flat out refused to serve me until he took care of all the locals first. Even those that came 15 minutes after I was there. When I did receive my drink I could taste the sludge from the tap. So if you like being treated like garbage in a filthy, foul smelling rat's nest, go to Schooner. I won't. read more
