My wife and I are looking for a home in the area and stopped by here for lunch this week. Walked in and was told to pick a seat and sat down. The young waitress came over and had a bad attitude from the start. Asked if we wanted a drink and when I asked for a list of the beers she impatiently said there isn't one. So I asked what they have and she named 3 beers so I declined and asked for a water. She went away in a huff. Moments later a more mature waitress that witnessed the encounter came over and apologized and showed me a list of the beers available... nearly 20! I picked a brand and thanked her. The meal arrived and the young waitress threw them on the table not in front of us so we had to reach to get them. For the rest of the meal she never came over to check on us, never brought our water and when I paid she grabbed the payment and ran away without saying a word. Rude and immature. We have been dining at this restaurant often in the past. With all the new eateries that have appeared in the last ten years in the area, we realized that we have not been there for a while. We have stop by for lunch and dinner and we have had their Conch chowder and various beers at their outdoor porch. They have always been a restaurant that you can dine at and always feel good that you did not make the wrong decision to eat there. Food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, but today the service was sketchy at best. It appeared we had two waitresses. But there was little communication-between the two and the food came awkwardly. They seldom checked back. Drinks only came because the bartender kept checking on us. Everyone got their salad but me. I asked she said oh it's coming with your dinner? Do you want it now? Yes I want it with everyone else. If it had not been for the outside bartender I don't think the service would have been even half as good. She was rocking it. The food was a 4 star but what brought it down to a three star rating was the staff. One gentleman in our group had errors in BOTH items he ordered. Things the waiter should have written down but rather tried to remember. For a group of five people, he should have been writing down the orders. Quality of the food doesn't matter. Won't be returning anytime soon. The patrons don't wear masks at all when up from their tables and walking around the restaurant . The staff says nothing to them despite it being the law. I know this is Florida and people are more lenient but this was appalling. This restaurant was a random find after finishing a tour of the nearby Lighthouse. Comfortably sat my party of six instantly. Diane (our server) was absolutely wonderful - attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful in making suggestions. The fisherman's stew, mahi-mahi tacos were unlike anything we've had before. In the past, we hesitated going here because it seemed so "old" and dated. Tonight, a neighbor recommended that we go there together. Boy, was I surprised! The food was excellent! Yes, the decor is from early 1980, maybe 1970. It was crowded both outdoors and inside. We chose to sit indoors. The waiter brought our drinks quickly and promptly took our orders. He was polite and professional. I ordered the special sesame encrusted tuna on noodles. The tuna was cooked perfectly rare and was delicious. The noodles were really long flat pasta with a red creamy sauce. Not the kind of noodles I would expect to come with tuna, but delicious just the same. I couldn't complain. My husband had the seafood bisque and it was also very tasty. He also had the tuna, like mine and loved it. The other couple had conch soup and then the blackened salmon. Perfect, he said. His wife had shrimp with rice, loved it and took left-overs home. I would give this five stars but the decor is just too outdated and our inside table was just too noisy. The carpet looked dirty and in need of replacement. Our neighbors said they usually eat outside and it is not as noisy and has an airier feel. They did say the food has been consistently good and go often. In general, from what I saw tonight, it gets an older crowd. That's not necessarily a bad thing and maybe the decor is not so outdated to most people in that group. I don't know. I'm not young but like a little ambience when eating out. Food is nothing special. Average at best. The real problem is service and customer satisfaction. We stopped in for Sunday Lunch. We ordered a round of drinks, 4 soups, ceviche and clams. We followed with ordering 4 entrees prior to receiving our Appetizers which was a mistake. The ceviche comes with a small portion of chips to eat with. 4 people and the plate had legitimately 10 chips total. When the waitress finally returned we requested some additional chips for the ceviche. No big deal, right? Wrong! She left and returned stating chips would be an additional $1. We laughed it off and said fine but it seemed odd. A second waitress came back and curtly informed us if we wanted more chips it would be $3 additional. For an appetizer we already were paying $15.99. On top of the added charge she was quite rude. It was like she was annoyed that she drew the short straw to come tell us the $1 charge was wrong and they wanted $3 for 10 more chips. Shouldn't some adult or someone with common sense just brought over a few more chips to have customers spending over $200 for lunch feel satisfied? I mean really. Chips? We were also charged a $4 up charge for a side salad as a side with one entree. Seems to be their way of getting every last nickel possible. Overall, mediocre place promising more than they deliver.
