It's been a while since we've been to Schottzie's. We got there just before 5p.m., and that was a good thing since they got really busy. The waitresses were really spread thin. We got the Schottzie's Deluxe pizza (Pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ground beef, black olives, mushrooms, green peppers and onions). It was really good. It was baked to a perfect golden brown. There were ample toppings on every piece. The sauce was sweet, but not too sweet. I'd get it again. read more

This bar and grill has been a hang out for locals for as far back as I can remember. It's amazing three bars in the same "triangle" can all be bustling with business. We used our St Louis Pizza Passport to get 1/2 off on any pizza. We chose the 16" Supreme which is loaded with toppings. We also got St Louis style which is thin crust. Provel cheese is the default. However, you can order Mozzarella if that is your preference. The pizza sauce is a little different here. It has a little bit of a bbq sauce taste. Not my thing...but, still made a great overall pizza. No wait but was crowded. Ordered 2 soft drinks, 1 beer. Chicken Tenders, good, potato skins, yuk, too much pota in them, patty melt, yuk, burger rare, marble rye burnt, onions slimy. Great little neighborhood bar and grill! We stopped in after a movie and had the pizza special, so good! Really good value with wings and salads....and there are so many TVs!!! Finally started to use our 2025 Pizza Passport!! Stop #2 was an area favorite Schottzies!! It was the 1st Friday of Lent so we didn't know if we were going to get a seat here or anywhere!!! We lucked out and got a table as well as hit Happy Hour!!! We got an order of Fried Clams.. you don't see this on many menus and they were Hot and Crispy ad we devoured them!! The House Salad with House Ranch was yummy! Drinks were good and needed!!! We tried the Hand-Tossed style pizza this time and were very disappointed. There was just to much cheese on it (I know some people like a lot of cheese) you couldn't taste the Pepperoni or Mushrooms!!! Plus we just didn't like this style. We will stick with the Thin Crust!! We went specifically for the chicken livers, however when we got there, they were out of chicken livers. Our waitress said they have been out of them for 2 weeks. Then we decided to order the fish tacos.....they were out of the fish for the fish tacos. . I wanted to just leave!! There was only 1 waitress for the entire place, she was nice enough but didn't wait around if you didn't know what you wanted and lacked personality. We had the onion rings which were very good. not too greasy and had a good crunch. The grouper sandwich was just ok. It was very greasy I had the chicken salad with the side of pretzel. Pretzel was great, salad fine but not exceptional. Lots of fried food. It's a typical local type joint. The bloodys were ok. Nothing but limes for garnish!! I missed the olives, celery or something. This place rivals some of the best pizza you can find in St. Louis!! Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky himself said it's his favorite pizza! This joint in South County is one of the best spots in all of St. Louis to get a nice pizza pie, or one of the best bar menus to eat and drink while watching a sporting event. This place gets busy, so plan ahead. The service is pretty attentive for the most part, and just be prepared to wait if there's a lot of pizza orders in. But the pizza is worth the wait. Their Schottzie's deluxe pizza is piled high with lots of toppings (No olives for us). Get it extra crispy! The sauce is a nice sweet sauce, and the pizzas are always cooked to perfection. The house salad is great and it comes with a pretzel! We get ranch but their house dressing is good too. We love coming here because it's always fresh. Whether you come in the afternoon, dinner, or late at night, they always take care of you. The owners are often present and popping around to talk. A classic dive bar atmosphere with some of the nicest servers on the planet. I pulled up at the bar and was immediately greeted by a very nice and engaging bartender. Andrew Zimmerman featured this spot on Bizarre Foods America for its pork brain sandwich. Yeah, I didn't partake in that particular fare. However, I had their lunch pizza special and the pizza was fantastic. St. Louis style with thin crust cut into squares. I had several toppings and the provel cheese is a must. It also came with a basic side salad. Received my order super fast for how crowded it was. Family friendly, at least during the lunch hour. First time here and definitely was pleased with my choice. The place has a nice large bar area with ample seating , plenty of table seating , daily lunch specials and a varied menu. The house salad with the house dressing was great , the dressing is a creamy Parmesan and it's the best. The pizza is a thin crust with a semi sweet sauce ( my favorite) and the toppings were plentiful I especially like the sautéed onions that were one of the toppings and the cheese was very prominent too. Service was friendly and efficient and it seems they have a lot of regular patrons which is a good indicator of business. read more

Great bar! They have good lunch specials for about $9.50. For today's lunch, I chose the Grilled Chicken Salad. I did ask them to substitute the iceberg lettuce to green leaf lettuce. The salad was huge, and had a whole marinated chicken breast on it, with egg, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and black olives. I barely finished it. It also came with a warm pretzel. I chose their house dressing, a creamy parmesan dressing. Salad was great, pretzel, not so much. It became like a rock within a couple of minutes, and was unedible. This is our favorite place to go for consistently good bar food! They have a nice selection of apps- we really like the crab Rangoon and green beans. My daughter and I normally share the pizza because it's fantastic, but I also really enjoy the open faced hot ham and cheese sandwich and various chicken sandwiches. Honestly I've liked everything I've ever tried, except the pepper burger my husband got once about knocked me from all the pepper. Our waitress was tentative to us & was amazing to make sure our drinks were constantly filled & continuously checked on us. The appetizer list is endless! Mine is a review you want to read. My employment used to be about five minutes from Schottzie's and I ate there twice a week, just like clockwork, and occasionally three times a week. I've had well over 300 meals at Schottzie's. Once, I ordered their toasted ravioli, and it was slightly overcooked. That was the only meal I ever had that wasn't 100% well prepared and delicious. Usually, when I go to a restaurant, I'll limit myself to the thing I had last time if it was really delicious. Schottzie's Is the only place I've ever roamed through the menu. If I've had one thing on their menu, I've had 25 different dishes. That's not hard to do, because they have way many more offerings than just 25. Their pizza is unbelievable, their pepper burger is served in heaven. And their toasted ravioli is as good as anything you can get on the Hill in St. Louis-- and that's saying something. I've probably eaten there a dozen times since I've retired from that job. I've added another three to four dishes that I never tried before and, as usual everything was amazing. If they were located in High Ridge, where I live, I wouldn't have any money left and I'd weigh 450 pounds. To say I'd give Shozi's my highest personal recommendation doesn't even close to how I actually feel. Of all the restaurants I've eaten at over 70 years in St. Louis, this quaint little bar food restaurant is, hands-down, the very best. read more

There are 3 South County pubs in this little triangle and they are all pretty good. Nothing fancy but a classic STL bar menu (Fried apps including mushrooms and T Ravs, St. Louis Pizza, Burgers, Sandwiches, etc) with AB beverages and a full bar. We had the pizza and happy hour wings. It's the kind of place middle age to older age locals frequent. Not a place for out of towners, but a casual lunch or dinner. Typical South County neighborhood bar. Always busy! Large menu with unique items we should make an effort to try next time (tavern eggs--probably; brain sandwich probably not!). Food was ok--Denali burger was not flavorful despite bacon, slaw, and Gouda. Buffalo chicken wrap came without buffalo sauce. Cheap drinks--$5 for drafts or bottles! Got the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Trashed Wings, and Brain Sandwich and was blown away by the flavor. Service was amazing and I talked to the server and was very friendly. When I ordered to-go, I got the wings and they were hot and crispy. As soon as the food touched my tongue I busted the fattest nut I've ever done. I started uncontrollably jorking it in my car. The mess was 100% worth it. Food was so good it made me convert to Islam. I was eating brain sandwich while getting brain from my girl, and it was stupendous. The manager Chris was so hot I'm thinking about turning gay. I saw all the cooks doing a circle jerk in my pizza but I didn't even care because it added to the flavor of the pizza. Four of us went to this establishment yesterday and it took 30 minutes to get one bucket of beer. We ordered our food and after 45 minutes it came out. My pizza was cooked however you could tell it sat for a very long time because it was very cold. My husband ordered salad and wings and never got his wings. All in all The service was terrible! We were there for two hours and 15 minutes and the waitress came to our table 4 times total. I got a to go box for my pizza and I just took a bite into it five minutes ago and a big black hair was in bedded under the topping for the record I do not have black hair. read more

Another notch on the St. Louis Pizza Passport tonight. Decided to give Schottzie's a try. Totally forgot to take pictures of our food because we were so hungry by the time it came to the table. They were extremely busy and only three waitresses on the floor. A lot of wait time to order, to get our food and finally just to get the check so we could pay and get on our way. This seems to be the problem with a lot of restaurants lately. Mostly not their fault they just can't find people to hire. They definitely could've used a couple more people on the floor helping out and cleaning. Our waitress was bringing our onion rings to us, a few tables before us, one of the onion rings fell off the plate and onto the floor. She saw it, even commented to us that she lost one of our onion rings, but never picked it up. Needless to say it got trampled into the floor. Cleanliness was not a strong point at this restaurant. It looks like it could really use a good scrubbing down. As for the food, the onion rings were good. They were homemade. Very large. We ordered a deluxe pizza. It was good, not amazing, but good. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty much bar, pub grub. Not really a good place for a date or at least not a first date if you want a second one. There were a lot of families there actually. If you like pub grub, this might be the place for you. The prices were definitely reasonable. They had everything from Appetizers, Salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, and entrées. read more

I have no complaints, nor do I have any highlights food wise. The bar itself seems like a typical sports bar. The same can be said about it's food. I carried out a pizza and fried green beans recently. Nothing blew me away, but I was also not disappointed. The best part might have been the dipping sauce for the green beans. I will say they were very generous with the toppings on the pizza. If that's your thing you might really enjoy this place! The servers/bartenders were very nice and super attentive.
