Well we have been here from NJ for a special family occasion and celebrated with their thanksgiving turkey cranberry sauce green beans and mashed potatoes. Absolutely a delicious moist 12-15 turkey with all the dressings. I was very satisfied. And decided to have them cater our Shabbat meal this past Friday The hot dogs in. Blankets were encased in delicious pastry with sesame seeds and were delicious. The kugel potato was surely one the best that I have had in recent memory The brisket was a large 2 lb portion cut thickly and frankly lacked sufficient softness and taste I expected It was ok fairly but lacked significant spice or savory tones it was edible but not delicious The challah from Schwartz's bakery saved the day read more

I was in the area today & decided to pop into Lieders to see what they have since I've never been there. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a huge selection of so many different side dishes and main dishes that I was on food overload and didn't know where to start (in a good way) - I'm not Kosher but realizing that Kosher food typically is much more expensive than regular food it's definitely worth the price being that it's so fresh and so tasty. I bought a couple things to go. Chicken Schnitzel was OUTSTANDING! Probably one of the best I've ever had. I only bought one piece and really regretted not buying more since I live in the valley. I also bought a couple small potato borekas which were very tasty & one piece of stuffed cabbage which was just meh for me. Sorry, but I compare certain foods to the way my mom used to make them and if they aren't close to tasting like my mom's used to - then it's a hard sell for me. I can't wait to return & try out some other dishes. The gentleman who helped me at the cashier was very nice and very friendly. I don't know his name but he said he was relatively new there. The store is small but holds a lot of food and baked goodies. There's a couple of tables and chairs outside. Not sure about a designated parking area for them but I just parked on the street. I discovered this place by chance. I'm in LA for a few days for work when I was recommended Lieders. The minute I walked in, I knew. I knew that I just discovered a gem! I used to live in LA how could I have missed this place?? How?! I ordered the Moroccan salmon and the BBQ ribs. I was overcome with nostalgia. The flavors oh my god! We had a quick mini Shabbat dinner. I brought Lieders. !!! There were 5 of us & Good friends of ours fighting over the BBQ ribs. Haha. I should have ordered more! It was that good! I was introduced to this delicacy by a co-worker. Since I moved out to LA I searched for a bakery that offered this and I'm glad to have found Lieders. Hands down the best chocolate babka I've had. Unfortunately, they're not open everyday and it seems as thought they're only open on Thursdays and Fridays. Where do I begin? These guys literally own a day of the week. And that day is Friday. They are the best 1 stop Shabbat shop in town. From the gefilte fish to the chulent you can't miss anything. Some personal favorites are the chicken poppers, corn dogs, and yapzik! They also make the best herring in town. They're fish and meat boards will make any kiddush stand out. Lastly. We ordered Turkey breast, garlic potatoes and stuffing for Thanksgiving. It came with cranberries and gravy. The food was really delicious. The Turkey breast was juicy and there was a lot of it! The mashed potatoes were tasty and the stuffing was flavorful. We had a lot of leftovers -- quantities were very generous. FIRST - AND WORST - AND PROBABLY LAST - EXPERIENCE! I placed an order through DoorDash, marking all but one item as "Refund this item" if item is unavailable. Upon receiving my order, I looked inside the bag to check all the items, though I hadn't received a phone call or notice that any were unavailable. I saw a label reading "Strawberry Spinach Mango Salad", but I didn't realize until I arrived back at my office that the label stated the item was unavailable. In its place, they substituted Crappy Coleslaw. Not even close to a fair trade. And not even coleslaw, more like make-your-own coleslaw. If I wanted a package of shredded cabbage, I could buy one at Ralphs. And it would be a small fraction of the price they charge here. Speaking of and considering the prices, one would think they would have the courtesy to contact the customer and let the customer decide on a substitution. I wasted 40 minutes of my lunch break driving there and back (Lieders opts out of DashPass, so delivery would have been a whopping $16 extra!) and ended up with no lunch for the day. Thanks for nothing! So, trying to request a refund was impossible. DoorDash indicated the order was still In Progress, despite the store's claims that they had closed the order. But, not to miss the point, I marked the item as "Refund this item" if the item is unavailable. The store evidently ignored this instruction and claimed they cannot issue a refund on their end. Seriously? Other businesses have issued refunds without forcing me to contact DoorDash. So, then, what's the purpose of the Special Instructions to "Refund this item"? I believe they just don't want to issue refunds. They want to keep your money, so they substitute inferior quality items for unavailable ones, probably an effort to unload the unpopular items that remain on their shelves. Going back-and-forth between live chat with DoorDash - insisting that the store needs to close the order before I can request a refund - and a simultaneous phone conversation with the business - insisting that they closed the order - became extremely aggravating, not to mention ridiculous. Ironically, I was initially planning to order from a different - reliable - business but thought I would try something different. So much for that. I wish I had stuck with my original plan. Additionally, this business offers certain items - I would have ordered today - only on one day of the entire year. Very disappointing. And, considering this experience, I wouldn't bother trying to order on that day, as I imagine the items I desire must sell out quickly if offered on only one day of the year. As for the food, who cares? An experience like this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And the Crappy Coleslaw - straight into the dumpster where it belongs, because it is GARBAGE. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from this business again anytime soon - or at all. read more

I would give it a 4.5 if I could figure out how. I pre-ordered a good amount of food for Passover and confirmed my order with Stuart. When I got there the order was mistakenly not ready. Luckily Sutart was there and was able to confirm my order had been placed. WIth his and Sabrina's help the order was made up immediately and they gave me a small "upgrade". The food was yummy-I was so sorry that I had not ordered more potato kugel as it was one of the best ones that I have had recently. Thanks so much for the great customer service. This place is a mess! First of all, the prices are absolutely ridiculous. And secondly, there are no prices posted on anything, so you have to ask the person behind the counter what EVERY SINGLE ITEM costs. And to add insult to injury, the man who helped me had no idea what anything cost and had to go back and forth, with each inquiry, to the person at the cash register just to convey the price to me. WTF? Post your prices so that your customers can see what each item costs (so we know in advance how much we're going to spend). It's not only frustrating and annoying, but it's also shady AF, since it gave me the impression that they just make up prices as they go along. Won't be going back. read more

Ordered Shabbat takeout for the first time and the food was delicious. It was ready on time and packed nicely. I especially enjoyed the fire chicken poppers, beef lo mein , and side of green beans . I was told that 1lb was good for about 3 people but I thought that it was more suitable for 2 for some dishes . They also forgot to give me a side of chimmichurri that I ordered but it was totally fine . Mistakes happen and the guy working that day offered to deliver to my home if I had called earlier or refund me. I thought that was very nice considering it's a small item so I just opted for the refund. Another Shabbat in LA? Another reason to go to Lieder's for our sustenance. We got the babka this time, good move. Sooo delectable and naughty, the only downside was a little but undercooked in the center, but I didnt mind. The cholent was amazing, bbq ribs so tender and moist, chicken schnitzel flavorful, yerushalmi kugel perfect. The only thing I might not order is the brisket, while great, not up the Lieder's standards Im used to...over-ordered and paid $120 for 4 people for Shabbat, but the leftovers were surely welcome, and with the quality of the food, I feel well-worth it. I have to agree with my two grandsons that the salmon and chicken caused too much pain in our mouths to eat but a couple of bites. And the kugel! Where's the flavor, the texture? And so much spice in the olives! Why?! Maybe you should have people taste your food who's tongues haven't lost their pain-receptor cells from death-by-spice, such cells being those which warn humans not to eat such spicey food in an attempt to protect the rest of the digestive system. P.S. 20% of the challah was so overcooked that it went into the compost after the meal, and such dark browness in the crust indicates a level of carbonized, carcinogenic substances that I won't eat. read more

Pro tip: Order lieders on post mates. You will avoid the crazy disorganized store shopping experience and you should have no problem reaching $15 for free delivery. I did notice their prices on Postmates are higher than the I store prices but it's worth paying a bit extra to avoid their disarray. I have to say thank G-D for once In LA or for once In the West Side there is a normal Shabbos heimesh take out :) :) Finally someone had the guts to open up and do it right !!! I have to say I am impressed with everything they make !!! I think the owner David (very sweet and giving person) traveled the world getting the best recipes out there. My favorites there are the jalapeno hearing, chic pees salad, Asian pasta salad, Corn Salad, potato salad, egg salad, liver both types !!, Cholent !!!!, Yapchka (Overnight potato kugel with meat) and there spicy chicken poppers. The food is absolutely delicious, one of the few gefilte fish that I like. The smell of the kugels had my mouth watering, and they didn't disappoint! And they're a real bunch of menschs. Very disorganized when shopping at the store. Second the portions for the amount of money they are charging is just robbery and disgusting I ordered a small tiny pan of poppers I got 4 tiny pieces for 16 bucks and when I asked why so little just doesent make sense they rudely answer that's how it is you don't want it?
