I was in the area today & decided to pop into Lieders to see what they have since I've never been there. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a huge selection of so many different side dishes and main dishes that I was on food overload and didn't know where to start (in a good way) - I'm not Kosher but realizing that Kosher food typically is much more expensive than regular food it's definitely worth the price being that it's so fresh and so tasty. I bought a couple things to go. Chicken Schnitzel was OUTSTANDING! Probably one of the best I've ever had. I only bought one piece and really regretted not buying more since I live in the valley. I also bought a couple small potato borekas which were very tasty & one piece of stuffed cabbage which was just meh for me. Sorry, but I compare certain foods to the way my mom used to make them and if they aren't close to tasting like my mom's used to - then it's a hard sell for me. I can't wait to return & try out some other dishes. The gentleman who helped me at the cashier was very nice and very friendly. I don't know his name but he said he was relatively new there. The store is small but holds a lot of food and baked goodies. There's a couple of tables and chairs outside. Not sure about a designated parking area for them but I just parked on the street. I'll be back! Wish I had more pictures to share. Next time!

They renovated into a bigger place. Used to be much small. Prices are high. Not crazy high. but kosher high. very friendly service. They should open later on Thursday night.

    Love the packaging

We had a nice server, Daniel, who was very attentive and helpful. My sister ordered cheese blintzes and they were served cold in the middle. Daniel took them back and when they reappeared at the table they were hot enough but not piping hot. Sister said they were very good. But two not very large blintzes for about $16, is kind of high. Friend had a Rueben which she said was delish. She also ordered a container of matzah ball soup and the matzoh ball was huge! I ordered a hot corned beef on rye and it was indeed very good. Large enough that half was enough for dinner and the other half was another meal on the next day. I also ordered onion rings. Very good! My dining companions enjoyed some of them too and there were still a few left to take home with my sandwich! I had a few of my friend's steak fries, they were good also. The prices are high here. Guess you have to go with the flow in a world-famous place! There is a small bakery counter near the front door. We bought two danishes to take home. OMG, the chocolate and almond danish was absolutely a 6 on a scale 0f 1-5! Also got a bear claw and it's terrific too. But the other was great. Notice I said was; my sister and I shared it. Didn't tale too long for us to decimate it! This was an experience for sure. If ever I get to LA again, I will be sure to get a chocolate and almond danish!

So it seemed fitting to honor both of them and it satisfied my craving. The catered memorial looked great but it was difficult to make a proper plate. I always crave matzo ball soup. Luckily I had my fan to help cool off my soup. I did add a little salt and pepper. Other than that it was total comfort. $15 We shared a club sandwich and got French fries instead. All the condiments, Russian dressing, ranch come in prepackaged little containers. Ranch tasted fresh and homemade. I used a little of the Russian dressing. Is that a Brent's thing? $22 + $3 for French fries. I wanted a little sweet and got the blueberry cheesecake. That was the best cheesecake ever. Actual blueberries inside the cheesecake. So creamy and delicious. $11 Pickles are always my favorite. I got bagel chips with my matzo ball soup. I ordered corned beef and cabbage for my 99 year old mom. She said she didn't like the cabbage, no taste. She's 99 ‍ It's been a while since I was there. It feels the same. Booths and tables. Same decor. Our server Laura was super sweet and patient. Helpful in our decision making. Ricardo cracked me up because he brought a small soup container for my friend's cabbage soup. She was a little perturbed it was too small. Ricardo insisted it would fit and it did PERFECTLY.

I've been vegetarian for most of that time, but that never stops me from ordering my go‑to combo: a side of potato salad, a French roll cut in half, a quartered pickle, and a lemonade. Simple, nostalgic, and perfect. The salads are great too. When my husband is really hungry, he goes for both the lamb and beef dips; on lighter days, he alternates between the two. He swears by the spicy mustard and takes every single bite with it. Service is always pleasant, and the lines move quickly. The wood chips on the floor are still adorable, and that classic café smell when you walk in feels like stepping back in time. Any chance we get, we're here -- it's a forever favorite.

I have to say, shame on me for not saying anything about my brownish potato salad and next to no Ice in my Iced tea by the time I reached our table. It's gotten really expensive, like everywhere I suppose, two sandwiches, two cole slaw, pickled beets, (weirdly brown) potato salad, coffee and an iced tea with a $5 tip was about $60! Rolls, though lightly dipped were quite dry aka stale. Place was clean, oddly, have never used restroom there, don't like public restrooms, but was pleasantly surprised it was clean. If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. It has that warm, old-school Italian family vibe that's becoming harder and harder to find, and it's a big part of what makes this place so special.
