    Papa $27
    Erik G.

For those of you who don't dare venture to MacArthur Park for the best Jewish deli, Daughter's Deli is a fine substitute. The thick-cut pastrami was heavenly, and from my first bite of the Papa, it brought me back to the first time I had the #19 at Langer's. The Papa ($27) is jam-packed with thick-cut pastrami, Swiss cheese, and coleslaw on double-baked rye bread. I attempted to recreate the influencer aesthetic by photographing the Papa sandwich with both halves together, but failed because it was too oily from the pastrami. While the pastrami itself was good, it was dripping with oil, almost as if it had been soaked in broth. The texture on the crust of the Rye was more toasted than double baked. I must say as much as I enjoyed the crunch from the crust of the Rye. I prefer Langer's over Daughter's Deli. The ordering process is a bit different here - you order at the register and pay upfront, which isn't the usual Jewish deli experience. I wanted to try the potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw, and was happy to pay extra for them, but Adrian was incredibly kind and gave me a sample of each without charge. I really appreciate that! I had this place bookmarked for a while and was happy to finally try it, but it was a bit underwhelming compared to my favorite Jewish deli. I wouldn't be in a rush to return, but the wife loved the thick-cut pastrami, so maybe we'll be back.

Wife and I have been fans of Langers and Nate & Al's pastrami sandwich for years now. I had no idea this place existed until I saw it on social media. I haven't been to other restaurants in several months due to life, but I don't remember paying so much for a sandwich. 2 sandwiches, 2 sodas and fries + tip was $81. The food was absolutely delicious and portions are large but just seems pricy for a sandwich. The parking lot is extremely small and can kind of be a nightmare to get to depending on when you go. They are moving soon, hopefully the new parking situation will improve. I think I'd go back to Nat & Al's or Langers first before coming back here.

First time here, and very impressed! Best sandwich I've had this side of the OG Katz Deli in NYC. I had the Papa. So good!

You know it's going to be good when you walk in and see a bunch of old men just hanging out inside. Seating is very limited--maybe three tables and a counter by the window--so most of the action is outside. Everything I've tried here has been solid. Yes, it's pricey, but the quality makes up for it. The pastrami is the star: tender, melty, and worth the splurge. Corned beef is good too, though not quite as tender. The matzo ball soup hits the spot, and you can get it with chicken and egg noodles (the way I like it). Honestly, you could split a sandwich and a bowl of soup between two people and leave perfectly full. They've got Dr. Brown's sodas too--Root Beer and Black Cherry--which is a nice touch. The food at Canter's isn't on this level, but Canter's has the history and atmosphere that keeps it worth visiting. Here, it's all about the quality of the food. Sitting outside, people-watching the Beverly Hills crowd trying to impress each other, is its own kind of entertainment.

Came here the other day and had the Papa Pastrami Sandwich and Chili Cheese Fries. Thick cut Pastrami that is juicy and melts like butter when it touches your tongue. Rye bread isn't too sharp. Coleslaw and Russian dressing isn't too sweet and too sour and overpowering. It is just perfect. It is very delicate. It isn't too tart. chili cheese fries was delicious. It's greasy, but not too greasy potato salad was just OK for me. But other than that great customer service and a nice outdoor patio to have lunch outside. It has a parking lot right off Sunset Boulevard. If you're in the area, I would definitely come back again.

Papa sandwich is delicious and worth the high cost!! Big enough for two people to share, unless you're starving. The sandwich is perfect, comes with a side and a pickle. Plenty of seats, indoors and outdoors. They have parking lot but it's small and shared with other stores on the lot.

We saw this place listed as having one of the best sandwiches in LA so we had to see for ourselves! They have a small parking lot out front which is super convenient, especially given its prime location on Sunset. We ordered the Papa sandwich, a hot pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and russian dressing. We split the sandwich but if I was hungry enough I could eat the whole thing. Not cheap at $26. It comes with a small side, we got cucumber salad. The sandwich was good, we loved the thick pieces of high quality pastrami. Overall tasty meal. I've had better though, but it was probably in NY. So maybe the best LA pastrami sandwich. I added a pretty generous amount of dijon mustard to it. But can we talk about the bread? We ate the sandwich instantly, right out front at the picnic tables, and very quickly, the bread got soggy. My last bite, the bread was barely holding on. I can't even imagine what it would be like if we ordered for takeout and waited to eat it when we got home. I feel like they need to figure that out, but the pastrami itself was delicious. The cucumber salad wasn't for it, it was sweet.

Popped in to this spot as it's been on my list for a while! We really enjoyed the sandwich as the meat was incredibly tender. It's thicker cut pastrami so you definitely feel satisfied and could even share half with someone. My favorite part of the sandwich was actually the bread! It was crazy soft and the crust was super crunchy - not like other sandwich bread I have tried.

My sister filled me in on the history of Daughter's Deli, so of course we had to stop in, and wow, I'm so glad we did. We called in our order while we were shopping, pulled up and our order was ready. I know a good corned beef sandwich when I taste one, and this was it! Fresh rye, tender cuts of corned beef... simple, nostalgic, and absolutely delicious. A must-try for any deli lover.

We finally got a chance to order from Daughter's Deli, and yes the Noi sandwich didn't disappoint. It's the perfect blend of freshness, flavor, and heart. The owner, Trisha has taken the best parts of her family's legendary, Langer's Deli, and added her own touch of magic. You can feel the love and tradition in every bite.

We stopped by Daughter's Deli on Thursday afternoon and really enjoyed our visit. The Papa Pastrami sandwich was excellent--flavorful and generously portioned. I personally prefer a lighter sauce, so we asked for light Russian dressing, which was perfect. The portion size is great and definitely easy to share. I also loved the side cucumber vinaigrette salad--it was fresh, light, and delicious. We tried the chicken schnitzel sandwich as well, which was crispy, flavorful, and very satisfying. The only downside is the parking situation. There are just a couple of spots, so you'll most likely need to find street parking. The inside is small, but they make up for it with plenty of outdoor seating. You order inside at the counter and they bring it out to you. Prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes. Honestly, you're getting something comparable (if not better) than Langer's, with a better location and vibe. Can't wait to come back!

So I've been back twice since and tried three different sandwiches. the turkey nana - amazing. The tuna melt, ummm good but nothing special. The egg salad I would definitely give a miss. This was just very underwhelming. Maybe because of the bread. We also tried the latkes which were crispy and crunchy loved it.

Won't be going back Cons: Not on time when ordered to pick up Exxxxxtremely expensive Too much fat on pastrami not professional, Addl $1.50 for dressing, terrible location,  no parking they were polite, tiny pickles, They don't answer phone, question cleanliness based on way employees were dressed, very thin slice of cheese, minimal meat, bread was thicker than meat It was tasty but won't go back - just don't see the value Employees were polite

We drove an hour based on yelp saying you were open. Just to arrive and it says you have moved and will not be open until the summer!

Served on rye that is double baked and has the most amazing crunch crust. For me, bread with a real crust, nothing better! They also serve other items, full breakfast and lunch menu served during their open hours, but seriously we all come here for the amazing pastrami! To start, they have a parking lot a short walk away, validate for 90 minutes, plenty of time to eat. There can be lines, but I try to time it on a weekday before the lunch crowd hits! The staff is very friendly from the host station to the servers to the cashier. Many have probably worked there for years! They all seem very happy along with the customers chowing down their pastrami! Once inside there is seating at the counter or cozy booths. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, but trust that any way you want your pastrami sandwich, you can have it! I went with a friend, who at the moment is on a pastrami only diet. He was just in NYC, eating at several well known places for pastrami, yet still craving more when he returned! We split a sandwich, with coleslaw on the side so he could build his sandwich his way. I am a purest with pastrami, nothing but mustard! The pastrami here is thick cut, tender, something to ENJOY not bury! They offer a few mustards and other condiments on the table. Yellow is what pairs best with pastrami, IMO. We also ordered Pastrami Chili Fries. Now this was my first time trying them. OMG, I went to heaven! The pastrami of course was amazing, but the gravy/chili was just as amazing. Some heat but not a lot, just perfect! We ended with a slice of carrot cake, it was okay but who comes for the dessert! My favorite thing, after the Pastrami of course, Langer's Ceam Soda from the fountain! OMG the best cream soda. They also offer Dr. Browns by the bottle. Langer's in located in MacArthur Park District. You can see the lake out the windows, nice view. It used to be a very nice part of LA, not any longer, but there is still this GEM of a deli to check out if you are visiting LA or live locally, well worth the drive. Even Hewell Hauser couldn't get enough of it! They also have been received Beard awards and are included in the Michelin Guide. Very impressive for a family owned business! For those that frequent or live on the West Side, Norm's daughter Trisha has a place called Daughter's Deli. Same excellent pastrami and rye bread! I have been there many times and seen Trisha and sometimes Norm there working hard! They are in the process of opening up in the new location soon in Sunset Plaza (former Chin Chin spot) and I plan to frequent it as soon as they open! I am up there once a month!

Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere.
