This. Place. Is. The. BEST! I made an appointment on Saturday for about 3pm for just a cut and style. My hair had been growing out from a pixie cut from this past summer, and had a ton of different layers. Long on the bottom, and shorter on top...I basically had a mullet. Gag. Before I headed to my appointment, I stopped at the vet to pick up some medication for my cat. It's only ten minutes away from Scizzors, and I got there 40 minutes early, so I figured I had plenty of time. Well, it took 45 minutes for them to hand me a damn bottle. I called ahead to say I was going to be late, and they told me not to worry about it. So I arrive 15 minutes late, was stressed about being late, and I wouldn't have blamed them if they had told me to reschedule since I just learned they close at 4pm on Saturdays. They could not have been nicer! The friendly front desk lady took my hat and coat, and offered me a beverage. Being cold out, I opted for a hot chocolate... and it was the best damn hot chocolate I ever had lol Now, onto to the actual hair stuff. I had Alex (Alexandria) for my stylist, and I had a vague idea about what I wanted, but was really open to suggestions as well. Even though my plan is to grow out my hair, Alex convinced me to even it out (aka cut off the mullet) and to try some layered side swept bangs. I agreed, and was brought over to the hair washing station where I was treated to a lovely head massage. It wasn't long, but it's such a nice little extra perk- it adds almost a spa like quality to the experience. So now all that previous stress is gone now. Also, I normally have a very sensitive scalp, but Alex was so gentle washing my hair, I didn't even think to warn her about it. Even though I was late, at no point did she rush any part of the process. I was one of the last people in the place, but she took her time, and asked questions to ensure I was happy with my haircut. Now, I'm the type of person that needs a day to absorb a new hairstyle, and I can officially say that I am more than happy with it! The way it was cut makes my face look slimmer which I was not expecting, and I am on cloud nine! This is definitely one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. I went to Scizzors for my first Deva Cut yesterday and it was amazing! The salon is clean, comfortable, and everyone there was super nice. Bledi was fantastic and walked me through the Deva Cut process showing me tips and tricks along the way. My hair feels healthier and the curls are much more defined and bouncy. Tucked away with no street front- this is a hidden jewel. I have had my hair cut by some of the best salons on Newbury street and I now drive out of my way to come to Scizzors. I have also taken my children since they were 6. You will get a color and cut that is as good or better than any other high end salon. And a scalp massage with the shampoo is a plus! This salon functions differently than other salons I've been to. They are one big team. Everyone is friendly and professional. No attitude. Very comfortable environment. And the price is right. I LOVE this place. I lived in Worcester for about 7 years and had been going there for most of those years. Meghan has cut my hair countless times and has taken me through many different hairstyles. One thing is always the same.. I LOVE my hair every time I leave. Like in the "I need to go out and do something fun" way. I referred so many people becuase they would ask me where I got my hair cut. I always looked forward to getting my hair cut there. Everyone is so nice. They offer coffee, tea, water, wine! It is such an amazing place. I just moved to Cambridge 6 months ago, and thought I'd be able to find someone closer to me so I wouldn't have to make the drive. I just tried to find my negative one star Scizzors review from September 2019, but Bledi must have deleted it (I was amazed to find lots of 4 and 5 star reviews from 2017, though :)). In my 2019 review I expressed my frustration that Scizzors was the third hair dresser in a row (after Dellaria in the Natick Mall and St. Cyr in Worcester) who seriously tried to talk me into getting blond highlights versus dying my roots blond. I had dyed my roots blond since 1987 and all off a sudden in 2016 one hair dresser after the other tried to convince me that they no longer dye/color roots, but only do highlights. Finally a friend told me why highlights are so popular among hair stylists: customers have to pay twice as much for highlights as for roots coloring. If highlights would have colored my entire hair, I would have been satisfied, but only parts of my hair was blond, most of it (most of my bangs included) were dark brown. I just had the rest of the brown strands cut off last week and thanks to highlift my hair is now blond everywhere, not just partially. A German friend told me that root dying is still done in Europe, but obviously you need to find a hair stylist who's willing to do it in Massachusetts. If highlights wouldn't be so expensive and such a painful procedure, I might have considered paying twice as much for having it done. But ending up with dark brown hair even though my hair was entirely blond in 2015 somehow defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Well, lets see how long my Yelp review survives this time, before it will get deleted again. :) :) :) read more

My hairdressers shop had closed I was with her over 25yrs very upset a friend that I work with told me about this hair place told me everyone is great will take great care of me so I called on weds the only apt they could give me was Friday my son's wedding is sat so that worked out perfect I was very nervous but just walking threw I know I was in good hands my hairdresser kaleigh she's is amazing helped me on my color cut everything I'm very grateful for her she made my day and my hair is going to look great for a important day she is my new hairdresser but everyone there is very kind and very caring not just to there customers but to eachother I could hear them with eachother waiting for my hair in the foil and they are good people I can't wait to see them and kaleigh in a few months thank you again read more

This place is amazing. I'm a curly haired guy, and I've only had one girl cut my hair for the last 5 or 6 years. I'm new to the area, and did a lot of research before deciding to go with Scizzors based on other reviews I heard and what I was looking for. And can I just say that I was AMAZED. With everything. From the second I walked into the door until I went to bed last night, I couldn't help but feel so relaxed and happy. They did offer me a drink when I got there, had me wait a few minutes until Bledi, the owner, was ready, and then we got down to business. We talked a little bit, I showed him a picture of what I was looking for (similar to a curly hair undercut, and we went to the sink. The scalp massage I got was amazingly relaxing and was probably worth the $38 alone, and he even massaged my shoulders/neck a bit too. Then the shampoo and conditioner. Also relaxing. After that the cut and styling process was fantastic and he told me about their DevaCurl training and products. He really knows his stuff there (and I'm sure they all do since they all share their knowledge and training). Super awesome guy, and the salon as a whole is fantastic. I left a generous tip and still felt like I was getting more than what I paid for. I definitely don't regret my decision one bit choosing Scizzors, and they have my future business for as long as I'm here. If you are a guy, have curly hair, or just want an amazing haircut and neither of these apply, I highly, highly recommend you give Scizzors a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I read the reviews of Scizzors, then decided to give them a try. First, let me emphasize that no one went out of their way, or made me feel special. They plunk you down in the world's least comfy chairs, where you wait and wait. The magazines are the worst, but, luckily, you're about two feet from the front desk and you can't avoid hearing the staff discuss all their boring personal issues. Then, eventually someone comes and gets you. The expertise of the staff is acceptable, but good luck trying to schedule an appointment that works for you! Last time I was there, I tried to make a cut and color appt. for eight - EIGHT - weeks ahead, and they couldn't accommodate me for any of the three days I gave them. I had been from Newbury Street, to Wellesley and then to the toniest place in Shrewsbury, only to be disappointed in the service, consistency, value and overall dynamics of each salon. Then, I found Scizzors. From my first appointment I noticed something different, something special, something no one else offered. A top rate cut/color for a fair price with a team of stylist committed to working together to service their clients. From the fresh coffee/wine/water to the requisite head massage, I found myself completely satisfied each and every time. On one particular visit, I happened to mention that I was not happy with my color. In other places, this would have been met with resistance--not at Scizzors. Not only did they redo my color, but John (the owner), stepped in and happened to mention that my "long hair" needed a sassier look. He, himself, cut my hair....and he was absolutely right---the color was in question, but the root of the problem (no pun intended), was my resistance to a new hairstyle. I can honestly say I look forward to my 6 week ritual. Each and every time I am greeted by the UNBELIEVABLE front desk staff, and ushered into the salon to what has become my required "friend chats". Bledi and Raisa are OUTSTANDING at what they do. However, there have been times when someone else had to pitch hit for them and there remains consistency even with an unknown colorist/stylist. At Scizzors they know how to do hair, but mostly they know how to sincerely thank their clients. I, for one, am a Scizzorette For Life....it feels great to be able to endorse someone without trepidation. They have EARNED my business, boy does that feel good! read more

I was initially impressed when asked if I wanted water, coffee, or a glass of wine. I felt the establishment was clean and and modern. The service was friendly and was able to book an appointment the same day. My first trip to scizzors included a complimentary scalp massage lasting roughly 3 minutes. Quick shampoo and then discussed what I was looking to do with my hair. Everything was smooth until arriving at the checkout counter and was told "That will be $38." I found Scizzors by a lucky accident. A woman that I am on a committee with at work, walked in with a killer new haircut and I could barely sit still until the meeting was over so that I could ask her where she got it done. I CANNOT say enough positive things about this place. I've been to plenty of salons and I always feel super awkward as soon as I walk in. Not Scizzors. Immediately when you walk in, they offer to take your jacket, they offer you a drink, and the best part is they are welcoming. There are no awkward pauses or waiting and they are always smiling. The energy is infectious. Carissa was able to fix the awful situation that was going on top of my head. I had just cut my hair in order to donate it and it was shorter than I have ever worn it. I thought I made the biggest mistake ever (prior to this visit) but she was so enthusiastic to get to work on it. It turned out incredible and I am insanely in love with the pixie look. I haven't had a bad hair day since I started going here. I'm a horrible liar, so you know it's sincere. Beyond the obvious talent, the customer service is incredible. I was just there yesterday and when I left, I unfortunately realized that I had locked my keys in my car. I walked back into the salon, dumbfounded because I didn't know what to do (I live about 30 minutes away) and the woman at the desk didn't even hesitate. First she offered to drive me home to pick up a spare set. Then she called AAA using her membership information, set up for a it to get taken care of, and offered me a drink and to sit down while I waited. I was blown away. I have red hair (with grey, no doubt, but my hair is red.) I wanted the same color I have, no dramatic changes. The colorist continually referred to blond and said she saw no red in my hair at all. Huh? I was told my hair was "green" from the hard water in Shrewsbury and I needed a demineralizing treatment before they could color my hair. This was an extra $20. I get that they are supposed to upsell so I did it and it was fine. She did lovely color (red) which was my natural color and life was good. I was passed off to the hairstylist whom I told I did not mind going shorter but I wanted movement in my hair. She, who has an almost shaved head, cut off all my hair almost identical to hers. It is not even 1/2 inch long all over; I have literally no hair left. . When I saw it, she asked me if I planned to go home and cry! Are you kidding me?She said she'd never even thought about whether or not I'd ever had my hair that short before. It's awful. Severe, butch, blunt, ugly--and a bad cut on top of everything else. As I checked out, without my saying a word, the front desk person did not charge me for this debacle. But what do I do while this grows out? I bought product, I tipped on the full amount of the color treatment including the product so the colorist would be compensated and tried to be philosophical and said it would grow out. But for a "high end Boston salon in Shrewsbury" (which they can't wait to remind you of) this is outrageous. Stay away. Later that day.... The salon called me at 8:00 AM after I left a voice mail and invited me in to try to make things right. They were absolutley wonderful! Blevi recut the hair with a different scissor on a different angle and gave it a treatment and an incredible blow dry. He explained everything to me as he worked and offered to have me return several times over the next weeks until this grows out to have it treated and blown out properly. I feel educated and satisfied. It's a cute haicut! I can go to work on Monday and not feel I should have scarf on. I was treated with courtesy and respect and was in the in the hands of a true professional who really cares. My complete cost was also refunded. What a turn around. No one could ask for anything better than the effort made by this salon to correct the error. BRAVO!!! Thank you so much! read more

I have been here three times--twice for myself for a haircut, and once with a friend for a cut and color. All three experiences were excellent. I love the scalp and shoulder massage, love the drinks they offer (the sangria helped my friend get over her anxiety about the radical change she was making with her color), love the feel in the salon--friendly, professional, and relaxed. The prices seem reasonable to me, coming from California ($50 for a cut, ~$100 for a simple cut and color), and they are worth it for the service you get. Cortni has cut both my hair and my friend's and she was excellent--the kind of mind-reading stylist who is able to give you exactly the cut you want and need, even if you can't verbalize it. The thing that really clinched it for me is the support of other staff members when I went in for my last cut with my 5-month-old daughter (who they told me on the phone it would be fine to bring). The staff took turns holding and interacting with her, so I could relax and enjoy my haircut--really above and beyond what I would have expected, and such a pleasant treat! read more

Yes...it is the best hair salon I have been to. This was my first visit to a salon in Boston and I landed to the best one.Yelp gets the credit to let me find this Salon!!! I must admit i was so nervous to get a haircut I was trying to push this for past some months,but ultimately i just took a chance and the results were awesome. The staff at the counter is very friendly,polite and they do make you feel comfortable. They are true professionals. I loved the way they have allocated tasks to their staff. When i entered the salon I was asked what i like to have coffee wine water? I understood this is the right place to be pampered :-) A beautiful girl escorted me to shampoo my Hair.She surprised me by giving a complimentary massage. After Shampoo I was guided for Haircut to Bledi. Bledi did an awesome job. He asked me quite a few questions, about what kind of Haircut i am looking for and he also explained me how my hair would look if he cuts my hair in a particular manner. This helped me to analyse what should i go for. Now my hair has the much needed volume and yes My husband loved the new Haircut.All thanks to Bledi .... I went there back in March. I have long hair and I've had some pretty back experiences with hairstylists in the past so I'm always quite nervous to try a new place. Overall I am very happy with the salon. It's a simple place but everybody was nice. They give a quick scalp and shoulders massage after washing your hair, which is a nice touch. And I liked my haircut which was in line with what I asked, and the styling as well, which for once didn't force me to wash my hair right away because it looks so unnatural. I only give 4 stars because the place itself is so poorly indicated. I walked inside the small plaza for 10 min (with another customer who ended up leaving) and had to call the salon and let them guide me. The entrance is on the left side of the plaza! read more

I think my stylist's name was Angela... she listened to what I wanted in my haircut, was super nice, and I really love the cut she gave me.
