Scolari's makes you work for it, but it's worth it. We filled the 3 seat mini bar space that faces the hidden grill/prep kitchen. There are an additional 2 seats at the window, and that's it. If you want to dine in on a hot day, you better be ready to sweat it out. That's ok, cuz that brings you closer to what barbecue is about. Hours sweating it out for that flavor The brisket is great, with or without sauce. We got medium sauce; little hot-little sweet. Son had the Taylor Ham sandwich, which he called "outstanding". The ribs was also on point. Got 1/2 lb of brisket for home. Sides are all excellent. Get Scolari's! read more

Yum! I got the Impossible burger (BLUE STYLE) which added the blueberry sauce, blue cheese, basil aioli and arugula. Holy moly, it was so delicious. The basil aioli was next level. You also have the option of adding bacon or an egg. There isn't much room for seating, but you have the option of sitting in the bar next door and they will deliver your food to you. read more

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives is how I heard about this place. Okay, or maybe that's how my dad heard about it and then had us go eat there. #ThanksDad But seriously, I'm grateful that my dad wanted to go there because I probably never would have and it would have been a missed opportunity. After a long day of baseball, we were hungry and needed something to eat. Coming back from the Coliseum meant we'd pass Park Street. We didn't have anywhere in particular that we wanted to eat it when my dad remembered he saw Scolari's on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I naturally rolled my eyes because, of course dad, but we went. I opted for a Classic Cheeseburger because I didn't know what else to get. My dad on the other hand went with the Blueberry Bacon Bleu Cheese Au Poivre. That was the for sure winner. OMG. It was delicious. Not saying my cheeseburger was bad, I'm just saying that his burger was better lol (A couple months later I took a group of friends to Scolari's and went with the Blueberry Bacon...fantastic). My dad's gf went with the Blueberry Bacon burger as well and only ate half. We helped her finish hehe. We also ordered some house cut fries. The food was fresh and delicious. I really like that you can go to Lucky 13 and have your food delivered there too. Have a beer while you wait...and eat? Overall, great spot on the island. read more

Truly don't understand the hype behind Scolari's, "Best Burger in the East Bay" is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. On one hand their menu is straight forward and simple, only a few sandwiches, salads, and fries are offered which for a joint like this is all that is needed for some truly scrumptious eats. The creativity around the blueberry blue cheese bacon burger is top notch but unfortunately the execution needed refinement. The meat for the burger was over peppered and the patty itself was dry. The raw thick cut red onions unfortunately was the dominate element in my burger which, if only it was grilled, would have improved the overall experience. Their fried chicken sandwich was also a lacklustre part of the meal; offering a relatively flavorless piece of chicken accompanied with a quarter head of lettuce and sweet pickles of all things. Was not a fan. Sort of reminded me a a McChicken if we are making comparisons here. All that aside, huge praise to their famous Buffalo Fries! Holy molly! If buffalo wings with blue cheese is your thing, and you always thought to yourself "I need these flavors in a loaded fry format pronto" look no further. Their house cut boardwalk style fried were the perfect choice in a dish like this and thankfully they did not overdo it on the buffalo. Not at all spicy for those of you afraid of a little bit of heat. Once more though, make sure you like blue cheese if you decide to take on this tastebud adventure. Loads of blue cheese here! Lastly something small I thought was neat and worth mentioning, their fountain sodas are actually Alameda Soda company! Small batch local sodas are the perfect accent to a meal like this. Seriously, worth the extra splurge. If you get an orange soda you can taste the real oranges used to make the syrups in the machine, and the cream soda instantly makes you reminisce about the 'good ol days'. read more

Personally feel it was overrated. Being new to the island all I heard were rave reviews about these burgers. So naturally I have to give it a try. I was a bit shocked when the bill was over $40 for two burgers, fries and a dessert. But thought if its as good as everyone says it is then who cares?!? Ill just say the food was ok. Not amazing. This place is small and hard to spot except for a couple of tables on the sidewalk. They have a nice menu but I came for their hamburgers. They are huge and priced okay for their size. The bread was perfect and held up nicely for the size of the burger. Meat was good and cooked medium which is hard to do since the patty was rather thick. We ordered truffle fries for $9 but it looked like garlic fries to me. We loved taking our burger next door to the bar on the corner where they must have some agreement to allow customers to eat there. They bring the food to you at the bar which is a big plus if you want to eat in. read more

5 years later & still bomb! Fiance & I recently moved back in the area after being in SoCal for 8 years. Scorlari's is now dangerously close to our new place...dangerous because it's still SO. GOOD. Had their bacon cheeseburger & garlic scampi fries. The burger was huge and super filling. The fries were enough to share for 2. My cousin recommended this place during my short visit. I was skeptical as I didn't want to waste my limited number of meals on a mediocre burger but she reassured me that it was amazing enough to recommend. To start... the guy behind the register was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the cheeseburger medium rare with soft bacon! When the burger came out, it was a tower of beauty! The challah bun was firm and yet soft and fluffy, the patty was juicy and a perfect medium rare, cheese was melty gooey, bacon was soft and fatty -- what more can a girl ask for?! Right... I guess butter lettuce, red onion, pickle, tomato, and house sauce too! Basically, they really paid attention to the details when designing this cheeseburger... On my first bite, it seemed oddly... sweet. But it worked like in a savory/sweet balance kinda way. I've tried Scolari's I'm the past once and had just a normal burger and fries, though it was way overpriced and the fries were hard.... that being said I wanted to give them another try. I tried the fries chicken this time with Mac and cheese and mash potatoes and gravy with a biscuit. Fried chicken- Hella good!! The seasoning was perfect and the crust wasn't too hard or too soft it was so yummy. Mac and cheese- pretty good I liked the flavor of it. For the price I think it's pretty good. If it was maybe a little cheaper I'd probably be here all the time tbh. Get the good old boy regular fried or Nashville hot if you can handle spice. You can get the chicken sandwich fried or char-grilled and regular or Nashville hot. The cashier asked if we'd like to sit outside or next door (Lucky 13 Bar) since Scolari's is pretty tiny. Keep in mind Lucky 13 is CASH only. So about 15m later our order got delivered. The chicken was good but not mind-blowing. The Garlic fries were super deep fried; they were tasty but I kept thinking man so unhealthy and my body's gonna pay for it later. Lol. Guess they were a tad bit over fried for me. Noticed a vegetarian burger option too which is cool. Nice employees and good service but overall, the food wasn't that impressive. The food was amazing! But the service was so bad. The girl who was working seemed like she had beef with us even before we said anything. She was being so rude to customers in front of us too. We had never been there or visited in alameda and she expected us to know things, and acted annoyed with all of our questions. Which wasn't that many questions! We are a very chill group of people. We see what the fuss is about! Hubby had the mushroom, Swiss burger (with an extra patty) and I had the lettuce wrapped classic burger and we split the house but fries. Everything was great, including the alioli that came with the fries. And, this is important, they cooked the meat to our specifications (medium rare for hubby and medium for me). Even though sitting was tight (we knew this though) and with a baby we couldn't eat at the bar (strict 21 and over) we were still greeted with great service (they even let my husband try the home brewed root beer-Oaktown-it was great and I am not even a root beer/soda person but it was exceptional). Delicious abundance of menu options, nice workers but just a bit expensive. But that is the new norm for Alameda so I guess it's okay by the community. I can only go once in a while due to pricing, but when I do, it sure is a treat. The BAT sandwich and turkey and Swiss sandwich at the Point location are excellent. Had a chicken sandwich and an order of garlic fries. The chicken breast was overcooked to the point where the breading was burned in spots and the meat was dried out and tough. The scampi fries were nothing more than regular fries with some garlic dumped in the middle of the pile. Can't you at least toss the fries with the garlic sauce in a bowl. Best burger I've eaten in years. No joke. This is my new go-to burger joint. (I still love you almost every other burger spot I frequent, but there is something extra special about Scolari's.) Beauty. Deliciousness. The burger is like 6inches tall, yet somehow stays together. The perfect bun doesn't fall apart or get soggy. Amazing. The garlic fries were super greasy - as they should be - and packed with flavor. They hit them with a hint of extra spice which really takes them to the next level. Next up to try is the Buffalo Fries. It's a small spot, with only a couple indoor seats, and a few small tables outside. Don't think they have a physical menu but QR code in window to get menu. Pretty small menu but that helps with indecisive people like me. (found out later the same people/person owns both places). couldn't figure out the menu so went with want i knew. sampling: -crispy hot dog(5) (fried) *pretty large juicy foot long dog in a bun with mustard and relish. ain't top dog but almost pedigreed. -$3 special buffalo fries (fries with crumbled bleu cheese, shaved carrots and celery with buffalo sauce mixed in) *portion seem kinda small. remembered the cashier calling in the order "1/2 order buffalo fries". *fries soggy not crispy, maybe this the way it's supposed to be. toppings and all made this a tasty treat.. *not a real special if 1/2 price meant getting 1/2 order. *same taste as buffalo wings buffalo drips; -cashier handed me a placard. i didn't know the meaning until the bartender at lucky 13 explained one can get drafts beer $1 cheaper if they ordered something from scolari's. It has been 2 days and the blackberry burger is still on my mind. Large beef patty, blue cheese, blackberries, red onion and arugula in between brioche buns ($13.) It was one of the best burgers I have had in awhile. Since the daily menu changes daily, don't expect to have the same item twice unless they are serving it the next day. They also have a standard everyday menu as well. Prices are a little high but worth it in my opinion. Items don't come with sides most of the time. No substitutions allowed. Cash only. There are a couple seats inside and a couple tables outside. You can have your food delivered next door at Lucky 13, that is what we did. I recommend it. Hubs and I came on a Saturday at noon and there was a line out of the door. The food took about 25-30 minutes. Because this is a little hole in a wall type joint, this place looks super unassuming until you look at the menu. Buffalo fries? French onion dip cheeseburger? Say whaaaaa? Never been a huge fan of french onion dip but I guess if you put it into a burger, you got me hooked. Fries came out fairly quickly and boy were they good! Freshly fried to a delightful crunch, these bad boys were tossed in just enough buffalo hot sauce to get a nice coating, but not enough to ever get soggy. The thin slices of celery were a nice touch and I appreciated the slight smattering of blue cheese crumbles that was actually small enough to not bowl me over with its "blue-ness". There was also a generous helping of thin carrot curls on top that sort of perplexed me but I didn't really care much because... friessss! ^__^ Maybe a third of the way into the fries, the burger came out in all its crispy bacon and potato chip glory. I think the bread/bun was pretty decent, but I was too busy marveling at the delicious saltiness....Yea the bacon already had a good crunch, but the potato chips just pushed it over the top. Would have made splitting the burger with my friend a little messy, the guy at the counter thoughtfully included a steak knife with our order so it was all good. Cheese was deliciously melty, meat patty was cooked just right, but the french onion dip on the salad (why hello my little wayward leaf of baby arugula!) was what really set this burger apart from others I've had in the past. Really guys, you should try it! Grilled onions definitely have a soft spot in my heart, but there's just something about this dip....^____^ Heads up, you can get your food sent over to you at the adjoining bar, should you choose to go the efficient route of getting your drank on while your food is being made. This is my currently my favorite burger joint! I've been here a total of 3 times and I've always ordered from the specials menu. The blackberry blue cheese burger is so delicious and packed with savory juices. It has blackberry, blue cheese, bacon, onion, arugula and a beef patty cooked medium in brioche buns. Having a fruit in a burger may sound weird but you have to try it. This burger is so big and tall that it's hard to eat but I'm not complaining. The only downfall is that there's so much juice, you have to eat it quickly or the bottom bun gets soggy. The scampi fries are also very good. This place is kind of on the pricer side but it is definitely worth it! I'm definitely coming back for their other specials and to try their stromboli. read more
