We had a great Sunday lunch at Scoma's. Valet parking was great. Seafood was terrific and service top-notch.

Very good experience dining at Scoma's. We enjoyed the food and the service. Additional bonus was the free valet parking which is rare in the city especially around the pier. We ordered the clam chowder, prawn annuzzi, pasta puttanesca and cioppino. The clam chowder lives up to the expectations - one of the best we have had. We loved the prawn annuzzi - the prawns were nicely sautéed, crispy and flavorful. The cioppino tasted good - a big portion with plenty of fish, mussel, clams and prawn. I personally found it a little lacking in flavor, would have preferred it more savory. The pasta dish had great flavors - again a big portion and plenty of seafood in there. For dessert we ordered the seven layer cake - it was delicious and we loved it. read more

Good food, decent service, good for the environment. They have good food, and a decent kids menu. The service is ok, they usually bring your food within 15-20 minutes. They are pretty good for the environment, with no disposable utensils or straws. They also have a lot of local fish. read more

Came here this past weekend and it was a very enjoyable experience. I recommend that you make reservations here since the restaurant filled up very quickly after we arrived. We were able to choose where we sat, and when we asked to move tables for a better view of the water, our waiter didn't hesitate to move us. He was very friendly, gave us great recommendations, and checked up on us frequently. We ordered the crab cakes and baked oysters for our starters and both were delicious! The crab cakes were generously stuffed with crab and the oysters were deliciously baked with cheese and spinach. For our main dishes, we ordered the Mixed Seafood Grill and the Fish and Chips (lunch menu). This was more than enough food for two people and all of the fish tasted very fresh. Our view was beautiful as well- a great pairing with the food! Lastly, for dessert we got the Drunken Affogato. The alcohol was not too overpowering and it had a very creamy coffee flavor. It was a great way to end our meal. I took off a star since I messaged Scoma's prior to our reservation about arranging a birthday dessert to come after the end of the meal. I don't know if they forgot to write down the note or just overlooked it, but it would've been nice if they had brought out the dessert and candle since it was a special occasion. read more

I don't really even know where to start with this review. Scoma was such a weird experience from beginning to end. After a long bike ride over the plenty of San Fransisco hills my husband and I had worked up quite an appetite. We wanted something fresh and close. Scoma was one of the close by restaurants that used Yelp's Reservations and also the most highly rated. We put ourselves on the list and headed that direction. I was pleasantly surprised how tucked away from Fisherman's Wharf's crowds it was. It immediately was quieter and calmer. We had a few minutes to wait for our table so we sat at the bar and ordered a drink. They were tasty, but pricy. The bartender was friendly and attention. The atmosphere in the bar was nice: pretty views, a nice fire place, and people enjoying their dinner and drinks at smaller tables. Shortly after getting our drinks we were called for our table. This is where things started to get weird. We were seated at a small 2-person table in the middle of a busy room. The carpet was old and dingy, the wood paneled walls covered in cheap frames filled with autographed celebrity photos, and it was loud. I mean really loud. A complete juxtaposition from the bar. So much so that we asked if we could return and be seated at the bar. They were happy to oblige. Once seated back in the bar, our server greeted us. This man was a walking parody of a french waiter. He was very efficient and knew the menu well. We never felt like we weren't being tended to, but he was certainly in a hurry as we were his "last table of the night after staying a couple hours after his shift." Our food was pretty good. I ordered the Bolognese pasta as a non-seafood eater. (Stop judging me right now!) My husband ordered based on our server's recommendation. He said his fried fish was too heavily breaded and lacked much flavor. For the price of our meals, we really expected to be impressed, but we sadly weren't. TL;DR: This place has history, no doubt. But you pay for it in the meal price, and they just don't deliver. Also, ask for the bread before your meal. It's tasty. read more

Amazing food and wonderful service. Relaxed environment. First visit to San Francisco and we had lunch here everything was absolutely delicious. We had the crab bisque (never had better ) the sampler for 2 everything was amazing my boyfriend admitted that the seared scallops were his favorite when he isn't a fan so that definitely says something. Definitely will be heading back if not during this trip most definitely at our next Raw bar was also excellent nothing shy of a spectacular experience. read more

The service was some of the best I've ever had. The crab cakes were amazing. We had five people and ordered four different things. I had a fish sampler it was good not amazing but good. My wife and son had fresh catch fish battered she didn't care for it. My daughter had pasta with mussels and she loved it. My other daughter had halibut and loved it. I would say they make the most delicious food in the whole San Francisco area! Doesn't look fancy outside, but it's warm and cozy inside! Great atmosphere! This place is awesome. We came here for a birthday celebration, and what a celebration it was! I got to try an oyster shooter for the first time and it was incredible! Spiced perfectly, fresh tasty oyster, and just a hint of heat, I'll be back for another! Between the group, we order the crab louie, mixed grill, cioppino, fried sampler, oysters, and calamari. Cioppino was the best we've ever had. Seafood was perfectly cooked and the texture and heat level were spot on. The only thing that wasn't a huge hit was the calamari. Coffee and all desserts were delicious and a great way to end a glorious meal. After a day of hiking in the Muir Woods, we wanted to feast. My cousin was visiting from SoCal so I wanted to show her a good time (and some good eats) in the Bay Area. After much consideration, we decided to try Scoma and I'm so happy we did. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but well worth it. The restaurant was established in the 60s and still has it's old timely charm. The staff was extremely attentive and super sweet! Half the time I didn't know what our server was saying, but that's okay. Oh lord! I can't remember what every item was called, but the best thing I had there was their take on oysters rockefeller. I'm getting super hungry thinking about it. All their apps were great. As for the entrees, we ordered the clam pasta and roasted cracked crab. I would skip on both. The pasta was extremely bland and the roasted cracked crab... expensive for what you're getting. They advertise a "whole" crab, but you don't get the crab back or anything. That's the best part! Another thing to note is that their cocktails aren't that great either, so best to stick to a bottle of wine or champs. It just tasted like juice... or orange tang if you can remember what that is. We visited Scoma's today to celebrate my Mother-in-Law's 90th Birthday. The staff worked very well to keep us happy and safe. Everyone was masked. We dined outside on tables set at safe distances. Paper menus were discarded after we ordered. They treated us so well and made our Birthday girl's lunch very special. The food was delicious and hot. Service was excellent. Our waiter, Simon, went above and beyond to make everything special. For such a trying time, they did an excellent job. I made reservations days in advance and when I showed up the older lady greeting people at the door got upset at the hostess for making our reservation? My guess is that maybe it was to late? It was at 7:45pm. I'm not sure but it was uncomfortable to say the least and should of been handled differently. She then took us to a table that was not prepared, no tablecloth etc. She then began to try and turn on the heater and was about to ask my fiancé to turn it on. After a waiter came out and told her that heater doesn't work she then began to argue about where to seat us as we were awkwardly standing there with the whole restaurant staring at us. She pointed to a table a couple tables down and began picking up the plates to move tables and she actually handed my fiancé all the menus and drink menus to take down there as if he worked there. We then sat at the new table and it was covered in leftover food from the people before us. I then had to ask for a new tablecloth. After that we sat back down and then I noticed my fork had leftover crusty food on it. I got the $45 Salmon which had absolutely zero flavor or seasoning and a burnt potato patty that could of been made better at Denny's, it was inedible. My fiancé got the shrimp Mac and cheese that looked like they boiled noodles with butter dripping off it and FROZEN shrimp. I could not believe the quality of this food. Do yourself a favor and pick any other other restaurant to spend your money at. I can't believe that was a $150 meal. One of the most unprofessional restaurants I've EVER been too. read more

Went to this restaurant for our 3rd year anniversary. The place is a bit compacted inside, but very well arranged. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of all the items on the menu. We ordered appetizers, main entrée, and of course, desserts! The food is very good. They have different variety, but seafood items are to die for. Because I want my pasta cooked a certain way, our server (forgot her name) suggested a pasta dish that's not on the menu. Convinced, I ordered the suggested dish- prawns in white sauce pasta. IT. WAS. DELICIOUS!! The portion was too big, so I ended up taking a whole lot of it home. The pasta was cooked aldente, sauce was properly prepared, and prawns are big and cooked perfectly! I'd definitely recommend this place, and will visit again to order the same exact pasta dish. Only thing is, I didn't get a chance to ask the server the name of the dish. read more

[For years I have heard about the spectacular Scomas from my college friend who lives in the area. 30 years plus a customer. I was finally able to have lunch here this week. The food is amazing and the service outstanding. The calamari is the best I have ever had. We split a small plate Louie salad. Ummm, what does the full big plate look like if that is the smaller version? We also shared a fish platter of fried yumminess. We rolled out of there for sure. While waiting for our car this delightful man walks right up to us with a big smile on his face. Okay, what is that all about? "Was it good?" He sheepishly asked us with a wink. "Do you know I have been coming here for 50 plus years? I was here the night they opened in 1963." I told him it might have been the year I was born or maybe it was not the year I was born and that it was my birthday. "Maybe they opened on your birthday and you brought it good luck."was his reply." What a dear and sublime way to end our meal. I think my friend was a bit put out by the fact that this man might have broken his record though. Just kidding. The man was delightful and so is Somas. And that view. Sigh! read more

Loved this place! Service is great. This is a more high end restaurant and the service reflected that. The food was great- pricey, but worth it. I had the chicken Alfredo dish and my friend had the steak. Both were delicious. We ate at night, but otherwise the place would have great water views. The price was pretty high for what you get. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend going to fisherman's wharf. It was ok. Good not great. Service was ok. Wow, all around exceptional experience. To start we split the crab cake appetizer and lobster bisque. Both were delicious but the lobster bisque stole the show (I am still talking about it days later...). For our main courses, my boyfriend got the Grilled Scallops and Prawns. Nothing special here but scallops were grilled very well. I had the Swordfish and it was absolutely delicious - loved the sauce, grilled veggies and pancetta that came alongside the fish. To top it off, we split the 7-layer cake (not necessary). Would highly recommend making a reservation in advance. A couple in front of us tried to get a table for 2 at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and was told it would be a 90+ minute wait.. no thank you! I had dinner there Sunday night. Had the mixed seafood. The only piece if fish I ate was the salmon and I did not even finish that. The others were not cooked correctly and did not taste right. I told the waiter (who besides this was wonderful). He said I should not have tried the other piece and it was too late to exchange it. He did give me a complementary dessert, but I went home and made a sandwhich because I did not get a dish I could eat. But I still paid for the mixed seafood which I sent back. Very unpleasant experience. I am a local as well. Add on top I didnt want to publish this review but have reached out in 2 different ways with no response. :( Go for the view but not the food. read more
