Chotto Matteo is a Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant. Fun place!! Great vibe and music. Perfect place to kick off a girls night out! Loved the shared plate vibe. We started with the chotto ceviche. A traditional ceviche. It was flavorful but a very very small portion. It was good and fresh but did not wow me. The santo maki roll is sea bass seared table-side over a roll or rice and veggies. Also very fresh but nothing that blew my mind. The waygu plantain spring rolls did!! Wow!!! Crispy outside and full of beef. The beef flavor really came through! The black miso cod was delicate and delish and paired well with the truffle fried rice! Drinks were very creative. Loved the smoke on one! Service was attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The rooftop views can't be beat!

Finally came back after a wonderful happy hour last time! Unfortunately the food was a bit of a miss for me. I just wanted a nibble, but I ordered the Chotoro maki and the tiger prawn nigiri and shared a matcha tres leches. The rice on the maki was hard and al dente, barely any tuna in there. The tiger prawn was just like a typical cooked Ebi and both are quite expensive for what you get. The matcha tres leches was okay wasn't very matcha forward.

Love the ambiance of this spot as we walked into the space during happy hour, Chotto Hour. There's a DJ spinning in the middle of the lounge area next to the bar. The servers were attentive but the bar area can get alittle crowded during HH. Luckily we were seated almost immediately by the lounge close to the DJ which might be loud for some. Had a reservation for the outdoor rooftop space for a later time but wanted to try HH. The HH cocktails and food selections were pretty good. Since it was our first time we tried a few items from the menu (Aleteo, Kitsugi, tataki, tostada, slider and menzana). I like the Kitsugi cocktail. Food wise, the beef tataki, beef tostada and sliders were the highlights. They're good value for the flavor. For amount, beef tostada and sliders are good bets. After closing the tab, we went to their rooftop to enjoy some Nikkei Dodo stew which was perfect since it's warm and weather alittle breezy towards sunset. You can see the sunset skies but no direct view of the sun or bridge. We finished our evening with their passion fruit cream brûlée. Overall, good spot for happy hour and to indulge in different flavor profiles although the actual menu is on pricey side.

I came here with a few friends to celebrate my birthday, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Each dish had its own unique flavor profile, making every bite memorable and exciting. The service was outstanding. Our server, Victor, was friendly, attentive, and took the time to explain every dish, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Alejandro, one of the managers, also stopped by our table to check on us and make sure everything was perfect, which was a thoughtful touch. The decor is elegant, warm, and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back!

Best HH in SF! I really wanted to gatekeep but I feel guilty. :) You cannot find drinks a bites this inexpensive in SF!! And it tastes good too! Get everything on the menu you won't be disappointed. Sit by the dj for a relaxing vibe or snag a table outside. We got our food and drinks fairly quick and we kept ordering more. The food was flavorful and I even liked the vegan crispy sushi even though I'm not vegan. Get in that Waymo and enjoy a post work evening before dinner!

Amazing view and vibe (after all, it's a downtown rooftop bar.) Great service and drinks and food (after all, it's upscale Japanese-Peruvian.) That being said, the prices are steep. Sushi and sashimi was good quality though.

The food, service, ambiance were all 5 stars! Yes it's pricey. But all the food and drinks were delicious. It's beautiful inside and outside. Multiple servers and the manager checked on us and described all the dishes well and you can tell they were working as a team and all on the same page. Dining there was an experience and we felt spoiled and left very happy. Definitely get the Lobster truffles, black cod miso, and the Yuzu martini!!

Cocktails: I got the A5 wagyu Old Fashioned and the Pisco Sour. The old fashioned was super disappointing. It was shockingly bland and maybe even watered down. I didn't get the fatty flavor of the wagyu fat. The Pisco sour was standard. Service: The servers were very friendly, but the drinks took really long, maybe 15-20 min wait. Ambiance: Nice rooftop with views of SFs old and modern architecture Food: Pretty solid Japanese/peruvian. Enjoyed the cod, ceviches, tomahawk. The food was displayed really beautifully.

Went here last week on a business trip and forgot to get my receipt. I called and asked for the receipt, they told me I'd get it Monday or Tuesday. No luck. I called again Wednesday; they said I would get it Wednesday. No luck again. I called again and 8+ hours later, still no receipt. How hard is it to just respect and hold your word to what you told your customer? Beyond that, the food was really bad. I got a lychee ceviche for $22. As the name ceviche implied, I thought there would be raw fish with lychee but it was literally just lychee in sauce (pictured). For $22, that's simply ridiculous.

Chotto Matte was easily one of the best solo dining experiences I've had at any rooftop in San Francisco. It wasn't very busy when I stopped by and the ambiance was amazing throughout the whole building. I started off with the La Chakana cocktail and it was very smooth as well as not too strong in my opinion. It was presented beautifully by my server, who was incredible by the way! His hospitality truly settled me in and made this entire experience top tier. In fact the entire staff was so kind and welcoming my whole stay. I ended up ordering the Wagyu Sliders, which were decent. I loved the stamp on the bun, though! I also got chips and guac, which was so yummy!! The chips were so crispy and full of flavor. I really wanted to try their Japanese Wagyu steak and got 5oz! This was definitely near the top of my list out of everything I ordered. The steak was so juicy and tender and the presentation of the salt was pretty, too! My absolute favorite of the day was the Matcha Tres Leches!! The presentation and the flavor were all there with this plate. Super sweet and spongy. It was soaked perfectly in the matcha and just the right consistency for a tres leches cake. Overall, most of the food was delicious but the great service from everyone made this entire experience unforgettable. Definitely worth a visit!

I came for a solo dinner for my birthday and they took wonderful care of me. It was happy hour but I did the Deluxe Tasting menu and BABY LET ME TELL YOU I ATE GOOOOOOD. The staff was wonderful and the Manager was thee most nicest woman I have met. If you haven't been check it out I didn't sit on the patio but it's beautiful. A great vibe all around.

We checked out the Happy Hour at Chotto Matte on a Thursday evening. The HH menu is only available at the bar area and here are the items we ordered: * Salmon tostada: crunchy and delicious..our fav * Warm beef fillet tataki: tasty * Jalea mixta: fried shrimp and scallop * Wagyu sliders: hearty It's a nice lively spot and likely better if you're on the rooftop patio!

We returned on a Thursday during Restaurant Week for their $60 dinner menu that included 6 dishes plus a dessert. We chose to sit outside. It was a sunny day and even with the umbrellas it was still very hot. I would choose to sit indoors next time when it's sunny. Staffs were friendly. The first 5 items came out so fast. A bit too fast actually. But then the 6th dish and the dessert took too long to come out. The first dish was the spicy tuna on crispy rice. Although crispy, it was stick-to-your-teeth chewy. It also tasted like it's been made a head of time. The king oyster mushroom I thought could use a cream sauce. The memorable dishes were the miso chicken and the dessert. Although our chicken had a lot of char on it that we had to pick off, it was very tasty and paired well with the pickled veggies.

    Does Chotto matte allow dogs?

    Service dogs are permitted.

I had a dinner at 10 pm last night and it was very loud with the dj playing, what time does a dj usually come? Is it always so loud there? Is there a quieter area in the restaurant where I could talk without screaming?

Site says DJ music starts at 8pm on weekends. But dj audio seemed lower in the dining areas. Just a thought, Doubtful a trendy spot is gonna be quiet during busy hours.

There are two rooms, one in the front with a puzzle theme, and another in the back with a Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings) vibe. Staff was friendly and took time to explain the clever menu to us!

Lore's Wonderland escape room was a fun and delightfully whimsical experience. **This review is…read moremainly for the escape room, as we did not order any additional drinks outside of the escape room.** THE SPACE // Lore Speakeasy and Escape Room has cool themed decor everywhere, from the dimly-lit speakeasy/bar room in front, to the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings-themed board game room, to the individual bathrooms, and of course the escape room's multiple Alice in Wonderland-themed rooms. Clearly a lot of effort went into building these rooms and evoking a certain vibe for each. THE ESCAPE ROOM // The puzzles in the escape room varied in difficulty - some required us to think a bit more, some required our observational skills to work harder, and others required a light level of physical skill/movement. We were perplexed a few times but never got stuck for too long, as the White Rabbit (played by Phoenix, the live actor/puzzle master) would jump in occasionally to provide clues over the speaker or in person. It took us about 1 hr 20 min to finish the entire escape room; I thought the pacing was good. THE [ESCAPE ROOM] DRINKS // Lore's escape room experience comes with "a flight of themed cocktails or mocktails, including "potion"-style drinks that are integrated into the experience as you progress", per the website. We got to choose one cocktail/mocktail option (Korean Cold Noodles) from a list on the website, and the other two drinks are pre-selected to supposedly fit into the Wonderland theme, with the flavors described online as "berry" and "peach". You can get both cocktail and mocktails for your party, in case some people want alcohol and others don't. We all enjoyed the flavor of the Korean Cold Noodles cocktail, which was refreshing and surprisingly a bit minty in the mocktail version. However, we didn't like the two other two pre-selected themed drinks as much. The "berry" drink gave us cherry cough syrup vibes, and the cocktail version of it was quite strong. The "peach" mocktail drink reminded me of canned fruit syrup; we also were missing the two cocktail versions, though we decided not to ask for them as the mocktail version already was less than impressive. One other missed expectation here was the size of the drinks that we received in the escape room. We were expecting full-sized cocktails, like what they serve in the speakeasy in front. Instead, we found out that the drinks are served in small "vials". Given the size of the drinks in the escape room, combined with us not even enjoying two out of the three drinks, I would preferred to go through the escape room without the drinks at all, and likely pay a bit less for the escape room then. OVERALL // I'd still recommend the escape room as a good one-time experience with a date/friends/family. Just don't expect too much from the included themed drinks! The speakeasy drinks on the main menu do sound unique/tasty, so I might come back again to try those sometime.

Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! We were approached/reminded that our reservation was for 1.5 hours but the party after us wasn't arriving until later so we can extend our stay for another half hour. That was very nice of them to let us know. We started with cocktails. Beautiful glassware. They may look delicate but these drinks are strong! Very delicious though. We ordered: KABOSU - like an elevated spicy clarified margarita with Thai flavors. Not too spicy. It just adds a kick. This cocktail paired well with what we ordered for dinner. KOHAKU - like a matcha whiskey cocktail SHOJI MARTINI - dry and made with Japanese gin For dinner, we ordered: FRENCH FRIES with Akazu aged vinegar aioli, tobiko - the fries were dusted with Thai seasoning which were flavorful eaten as is but when dipped in the aioli, whoa!!! The tobiko added the right amount of balance to the tang of the aioli. Next level!! OYSTER - the dressing was good. A little on the sweet side. PORK JOWL - tender and so flavorful. I wish it came with rice. The pear and pineapple kimchi was the perfect side. CEVICHE - fish was fresh and the flavors were well-balanced. Loved the giant pieces of nori rice crackers. SHOJI BURGER - this was a nice show at the table. The fondue cheese was yummy. The burger was well-seasoned. Good for sharing. For dessert, we had: HOJICHA AFFOGATO - Beautiful, delicate and delicious dessert that was fun to watch prepared at our table. Lovely experience. Thank you for the great service. The staff was kind and professional. Well done.
