Community Sponsored Agriculture or CSA is a fabulous way to enjoy quality organic foods. This…read morecompany has taken up the charge from TD Wiley which did it some years ago. You get a weekly box which is available for pick up at various drop locations around Fresno. You can choose to have veggies and fruits added or deleted as the week prior a list of what is coming. In your is sent to your email. You can also add eggs, bread, chocolate, coffee, mushrooms and other high quality goods and the cost is just added to your bill. If you need to go on vacation you can easily pause your box for a set amount of time and resume when you wish. The veggies are very fresh and high quality. You receive a wide range of seasonal produce. This week there were collard greens, mandarins, navel oranges, onions, gold potatoes, beets with greens attached, leek, cabbage and shallots. This is a tremendous service; they have even started offering home delivery for an additional fee. If you recommend someone there is a reward system in place. Great!

Ooooby now has 100% customizable boxes! Ooooby Fresno is a Community Supported Agriculture service…read more CSAs allow you to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally by regional farmers. When you become a member of a CSA, you're purchasing a "share" of vegetables from those farmers. As a CSA, Ooooby has been around for many years under a different name; they are now called "Ooooby" which stands for Out of Our Own Backyard because all of the produce is local. Some of their produce comes from as far away as San Benito or Monterey counties, but that's about as far as your produce is going to come from, which I think is really cool. You can can choose from a variety of sizes of boxes - Small, Medium, and Oooober and choose whether to get your box every week or every other week. You replenish your account the week before a delivery is due. When you know you'll be out of town or need a break, you can schedule a "pause" and you won't receive or be billed for that week's delivery. Before, each box came with set contents and you are notified of the box contents and add-ons for the week on the Thursday before your delivery. At that point, you could swap out one or two items if you know, for instance, that you don't like beets. (Side note, if you don't like beets, try peeling them, cutting into quarters, drizzle with olive oil and lil salt and roast them - they are delish!) Ooooby also posts a list of the produce and other products that are offered that week and you can add additional items to your box. These are called add-ons - I LOVE add-ons! because the extras include a bouquet of herbs or locally roasted coffee beans or teas or Enzo olive oil and Mama Mia par-baked pizza crusts - so yumm!! When your box arrives, there is a sheet, on one side listing the items in your box and a note from Ooooby about what's going on right now, and on the other side are two recipes that use box contents and a tip or note on how to care for box contents, for instance, how best to keep parsley in your fridge. They're so helpful! Now, however, you can totally pick and choose which items you want in your box. Our family receives a medium size box every 2 weeks because I like to supplement with local farmers markets around town. I am excited to customize my box even more now! I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of yummy coleslaw. The sandwich came with several single serving size containers of bbq sauce. The pulled pork was very tender, moist and smoked deliciously. Soft hoagie roll. The bbq sauce was very flavorful and not spicy which is how I like it. I loved the coleslaw because it wasn't too mayonnaisey, more of a subtle vinegar flavor. My son ordered the brisket with collard greens which he says, you can't truly be a bbq restaurant without collard greens. He loved them and the brisket was tender and lean. His husband ordered a tri tip sandwich with the Mac n cheese along with a made to order Blackberry Lemonade. They both loved their meals. We all agreed we'd return for another meal. Tge desserts looks delicious! Bread pudding, peach cobbler and a couple other choices. Like I said, another day to indulge in dessert. It is outdoor seating only on picnic tables. You could see the owner and his assistant working hard to prepare the meals. They had a steady stream of guests. Good location with parking very close by.

I got tri tip instead of my beef link without notice. And respectfully, the tri tip and Brisket was so sliced so thin and very dry...tough to chew in. Especially for almost spending $30 dollars.

Dare I say Ampersand serves some of the best ice cream around…read more Their menu strikes a great balance between classic staples and an ever changing lineup of seasonal flavors. The flavor intensity here is no joke. When you order one of their more adventurous combinations, expect it to make a strong impression. Because the flavors are so concentrated, I find their small size more than sufficient. My go to flavor is always the Honeycomb. The ice cream base is exceptionally creamy and every scoop is packed with mix-ins rather than having them clustered in a few bites. Ampersand excels at rich, dairy forward flavors and the ingredients always seem thoroughly infused into the base. Some of my other favorites include Madagascar Vanilla, Whiskey Caramel Swirl, and seasonal offerings like Egg Nog and Vanilla Rum Raisin. That said, I have found the sorbets and heavily spiced flavors to be less successful. Options such as the Thai Tea and Chai Tea occasionally had a grittier texture, with noticeable remnants of tea leaves lingering in both the mouthfeel and finish. The vegan flavors were similarly bold and flavorful, but their texture was not quite as smooth or enjoyable as the traditional dairy based options. The staff is always friendly and generous with samples, making it easy to explore the menu before committing. While there are plenty of excellent choices, I remain in the camp that Honeycomb is the flavor to beat.
