Small place with very good service and wonderful food... reservation is a must for the weekend

The first part of our dinner was one of the strangest experiences I've had in a restaurant. We sat down near a chalkboard with the day's specials and looked at the menu, which included another page of specials as well as a long list of pasta dishes and proteins. Our server came over and told us that two of the items on the chalkboard - including one we had planned to order - had been sold out already. This was at 6 pm on a weekend night. So we went back to looking at the menu. Within seconds, our server showed up again - the steak had been 86ed. We went back to looking at the menu. Our server returned to our table a couple of minutes later and told us how he liked to rank the restaurant's dishes, then telling us about his top three in minute detail. We were pretty sure what we wanted at this point. But our server came back one more time to tell us that the salad from the specials menu - again, a dish we planned to order - was gone. At this point I began to wonder if we would be allowed to pick our own food for the meal. Anyway, we settled on another dish and beckoned our server over for his fourth (and first invited) visit to our table. We ordered. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. The pasta and pizza were good, the salad dressed with something a bit too acidic. We ate, paid, and left, still somewhat in disbelief. Maybe if this place had fewer items on the menu, they'd be able to stock more ingredients for each one. As things stand, it's a rather frustrating venue (albeit one with a clearly devoted following). P.S. The noise level in the restaurant is high - we were practically shouting to hear each other at various points during our dinner. read more

7/30/25 Grana is always a special treat. It is close by Home and we have been there several times in between my reviews. This evening we chose to sample two of their appetizers. Baked clams and a grilled artichoke salad. As an entrée hubby chose to have the pasta Bolognese is it and I tried a pizza that had zucchini, flowers, and a medley cheese, a white pizza that I found wonderful and delicious. Our Server was attentive. The wine is always an adventure. The venue is cozy, but it tends to be very loud. The food is always tasty and different. read more

Solid Neighborhood Spot with a Few Caveats The 3% credit card surcharge is a downside, but overall the food delivers. The Margarita pizza was nicely crisped and flavorful. The veal Milanese platter is huge, definitely enough to share, and came with creamy burrata and fresh tomatoes n arugula. We went on a Sunday night and got seated right away; not too busy, which was a plus. Good local vibe for a casual night out. read more

Been here a couple times in the past, but had dinner this past weekend. Everything I tried was delicious from start to finish. Eggplant appetizer, chicken parm was so good, steak plate with potatoes, mozzarella and tomatoes, parmesan, etc., carrot cake with cream cheese frosting was a perfect ending. This place a couple of years ago was fantastic. About 3 months ago we went here and miraculously got a seat at the bar. While sitting there we were asked in the middle of our meal to move our seats to the left because a couple was coming in and wanted to sit at the "corner". Ok I'm a team player so we moved. That couple never came and those seats remained un occupied. The next time we went here, we got a reservation and were a couple of minutes early. The bar had 4 open seats so I asked if I could have a drink at the bar. The answer was no because people were coming to sit there in an hour. When I asked what do I do for the next 15 minutes I was told you can wait outside. It's 48 degrees outside. I am beside myself with this restaurant. They are not accommodating to their customers and don't treat them right. Not going back because there are plenty of restaurants that will welcome me with open arms. I hope the owner reads this because they need to know what's happening there. read more

Grana strikes again. They refused to honor the full value of my gift certificate. They said that there is a depreciation in the vale of the gift card despite the fact that the soft card says 2025. They are quick to take your money when buying a gift card but make you feel bad when you try to redeem it. This is clearly against NY state law. Bad business! read more

Absolutely loved our time here! It was a packed house so we were sat at the bar which was completely okay with us. It's a little warm in there, thanks to the pizza oven, so keep this in mind if you have heat intolerance. It's small and quant; cozy without being pompous. I loved it. Ryan was our bartender and server and he was wonderfully pleasant, positive, funny, and also, apologetic about taking so long to get to us. He informed us of all specials and took our drink orders. He makes a mean aperol spritz! So refreshing! We landed on the Buffalo mozz with yellow tomatoes and a special side of balsamic (chef's kiss)! We also got the baked clams which were three massive stuffed clams that reminded me of RI quahogs! Yummy! For dinner, with Ryan's recommendation, we ordered the spaghetti Nero (squid ink seafood pasta) and the Neapolitan expression which is a plate of carb loaded amazingness of sunday sauce, ravioli, cheese, and nap-inducing deliciousness. We both needed to take portions to go because we were blissfully full halfway through. We were offered coffee and dessert but I knew I had to admit defeat and tap out after such amazing, rich dishes. We got our check (there's a 4% credit card charge fyi, which was posted on their menu) so we paid cash and made our way out with many patrons still enjoying meals and Ryan still giving hearty and genuine recommendations to new customers. You pretty much had to make a reservation. If that's required it should say that on that site. It's just says "reservation" we came all the way from New Jersey it's 5:30 next availability was 8pm for 2 people. I would think if you "need" a reservation you should put that on your site. read more

Absolutely would recommend this wonderful restaurant which is among my recent favorites and likely to find its way to my all time list. Starting from the outside this establishment is neatly discreet, which means I nearly drove by it while driving west bound on route 25. Yet somehow the ambiance of this charming restaurant aimed its range just enough toward me that I was able to slowly pass by which allowed me to take in the sweetness as well as the seriousness of a charming exterior with a warm casting of a semi soft amber diffused golden light. Without a second of hesitation I pulled over and parked across the street. Walking up towards the restaurant I noticed an outdoor dining area that is smartly located to the side of the restaurant far enough from the street allowing a sense of intimacy & calm while somehow feeling vibrant I passed through an arbor of sorts, deciding to turn around and walk through the front entrance which brings you into an area that allows you see a portion of the dining area that's separated from a portion of the bar area by a decorative screen or panel if you like. Even without having a reservation and while the restaurant was extremely busy I was told I could sit at the bar while I placed my takeout order. Wendy who welcomed me is in many ways the conductor out front with a team of talented & well groomed professionals. This crew takes a busy space and simply allows its patrons to breathe and enjoy dining in this beautiful setting without feeling rushed or neglected. That balance between reserved attention usually found dining in Europe is refreshingly satisfying to have been featured here. Food is glorious I can leave it that though would be remiss if I didn't point out the fresh meatballs here are even better than anything you can imagine. Impossible to describe how delicious, and perfectly formed meatballs made from a higher power above is the only way to make sense of it. Pasta ? close your eyes and pick one its because it's impossible to miss, their all beyond outstanding. Outrageous is how good every dish here I brought home was. I pray I have the opportunity to go back soon in spite of residing a great distance from this location. Went here again as it was exceptional the last time we came and have been dreaming of that carmelized onion and fig pizza. Unfortunately, this time it was a little disappointing . The gorgonzola was watery and made the pizza dough in the middle soft and limp. And the onions were not really carmelized!! The outside crust was still excellent but as a whole disappointing. The crispy Brussel sprouts salad was ok but not great and needed more flavor. The Brussel sprouts were roasted not crispy. Service was friendly but slow, took a long time to get our entrees. The pasta dish with zucchini was tasty and beautifully presented. They have a lovely outdoor side patio and inside is beautiful and special. Will probably try again although I can't say I will be dreaming of it like I had been. read more

Delicious food! We had the Margherita pizza, beet salad, and "really good bread" (it's what they call it!). The beet salad had awesome crisped goat cheese (warm, creamy), red onions, etc - totally recommend; beets weren't even the main flavor. Pizza was delish. The waiter was super friendly and attentive. We ate outside, and it was lovely. Definitely make a reservation; we didn't but got lucky, I think. read more

Came here for lunch and had such a great experience! I've tried to come here many times before but the place is always completely booked. I ordered the lemon pistachio pesto and it was delicious and refreshing. I wish it had a touch but more salt and pepper but other than that, it was perfect. Service was great and very attentive. We asked for bread and was told they make it fresh for dinner service, however, they did have left over bread from the night before and could heat it up in the oven. The bread was tasty. All the portions were very sizable and well cooked. The place is smaller but very welcoming and romantic. I highly recommend this place and want to come back. read more

I've been coming here for several years. It was one of my favorite restaurants. however, the takeout during the pandemic was mediocre; still I tried to be supportive. I don't think they ever really bounced back. I just had dinner there and won't go back. My waitress was inattentive and then argued with me when I had to send back a dish that clearly had bacon in it despite being described as vegetarian. Simply put the best restaurant on the east end. The food is delicious without fail and the dining experience a true pleasure. The servers are lovely and they manage reservation timing well. But really it's about the food. Most recently we had a house salad, a yummy Nofo pizza and the Sunday Brunch and Stanley Tucci pastas. Everything was so yummy! Absolutely love this place. It is becoming my favorite place when I come to north fork. This was my second time here. The staff is very knowledgeable, and welcoming. Our server was great at providing alternatives. The wine is amazing, we had a glass of the montepulciano. The food was delicious, specially the pasta. I had the Casoncelli Alla Bergamo. I have ordered the pizza here a number of times and it was generally OK. Tonight my family decided to try the pastas which was a major mistake. The vodka sauce was unrecognizable for vodka sauce with a terrible taste, all kinds of chopped tomato and other things thrown on top to make it look more fancy than it was, but it was totally inedible the fettuccine Bolognese ditto The consistency, horrible. hardly any meat no hint of a red sauce that Bolognese normally is again inedible and the spaghetti and meatballs which any pizza joint can make was barely edible, and I made the mistake of ordering a crispy artichoke which looked like a fried pancake with no artichoke in it I also ordered a pizza which hit the mark as generally OK. For a tab of nearly $138 I decided to be a nice guy considering it was takeout. I left a $20 tip so for $158 I got three inedible meals and one inedible appetizer. I did make the effort of calling And talk to the hostesses trying to express my dissatisfaction with the food. The young lady who took the information was nice about it, but I will never order food from here again certainly nothing other than a pizza and even with that I'll be cautious. I've been ordering food from this place for Many years pretty much since they first opened and this was a complete disaster. If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it. vodka sauce, and Bolognese sauce are very simple meals but for some reason, the chef decided to try to give a new twist to it and it was a complete failure. The wine is great. The food is average at best. The wood fire pizza was just okay. The dough was bland and the center of the pizza was soggy. The service was pleasant and personable. The brick oven throws off heat that can be felt all the way to the end of the bar. The wait staff is beyond helpful. One of them has an operatic voice and, depending upon their mood, they occasionally burst into song. The decor is intimate and whimsical, with a huge collection of chandeliers punctuating the art hung from the ceiling. Sitting at the bar is like being at Cheers. I was able to get a last minute reservation but they do get busy, even on a weeknight. Very cute inside and a decent sized menu. They were out of quite a few things on the menu which is disappointing and I heard the people next to me, complain when the waitress left. I ordered the cacio e Pepe and I liked it. The waitress let me taste two wines before deciding which was best, which I appreciated. They gave you cookies and melted chocolate at the end of you meal, just as a treat, which was very nice. Have to update my review based on the response I received from the owner. Yelp is a REVIEW based app. I gave my opinion based on the experience I had at your establishment. I've gone to many wood oven pizza restaurants that use authentic ingredients and use techniques based in Naples. That does not excuse the saltiness of every single pie we had here. Secondly, you did not even bother to respond to the status of your staff who clearly are struggling and have no guidance from you, as one of them said so themself. Please learn what Yelp is for - REVIEWING, and there are plenty of other reviewers on your page that agree with my review - so to single me out is appalling. I would probably give this place 3.5 stars. I had it 3 times. And it's been mostly a hit. Their pizzas are pretty good. The pasta dishes I've had have been saltier than expected from time to time. We didn't like the truffle ravioli dish - nice in concept but a little overwhelming. Cesar salad was amazing. Bread for table and drinks good too. I've had really good service but the last time I went the service was all over the place and our entres came out and we asked for silverware 3 x before we received. Definitely worth trying though. I Can't believe I have passed this place so many times on my way to other places, but have never gone in until last weekend. We did a barrel tasting at Paumanok Vineyards with another couple who has been to Grana many times, and suggested we go there afterwards for an early dinner. I am so happy we went, and now it is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. The food was amazing, and so was the service! I had their fall special which was pasta with eggplant meatballs. I wasn't sure about eggplant meatballs, but once I took a bite, I was hooked. I loved this dish so much, and because we had a small pizza for an appetizer, I couldn't eat the entire entree, so I had it the next day. It was just as amazing the next day, and my husband who doesn't care for eggplant, loved it so much that I ended up with only one leftover meatball :-) The place is so cute, and the pizza oven is amazing. Their sauce is so delicious, and the best that I have eaten anywhere. Our friends knew the servers and owner and they were all so happy to see them back again. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The food is awesome and the prices are very reasonable, so this is definitely a place to add to our "go to" places to eat. We can't wait to go back again! read more

We went to Grana last night and what a fabulous time we had ! The 6 of us arrived on time for our reservation and they had our table ready and waiting even though the place was packed , our waiter came over soon after and we immediately knew it would be a great night , Ryan was not only friendly and engaging, he knew every detail of the menu and was able to answer all of our questions with expertise, his recommendations were fantastic . I have to say Ryan was probably the best waiter we've ever come across anywhere, the other waitstaff were also friendly and welcoming . The food was fantastic everyone loved their dish , the salmon was unbelievable, dessert was great and don't leave without getting coffee. So good !!! Can't wait to go back read more
