If you are looking for a greasy spoon style breakfast, you could do a lot worse. Pancakes were worth a try, while the sausage patties and country fried steak were excellent. Although it seems wrong, go ahead and skip the half order of biscuits and gravy to go along with that country fried steak. The gravy complemented the steak, but was fairly bland on the biscuits. Have you ever heard people talking about a place for some so long that you're compelled to go? I visited Scotty's for the first time and thought I would try breakfast. I brought cash as I heard this is a cash only spot. I have red meat allergies so no chicken apple sausage, or turkey bacon meant my breakfast options were limited to no meat. The place looks like something out of a time warp. The booths were dirty and missing cushion; which probably would have been overlooked had the food been acceptable. The awning out front advertised flavored coffee, and espresso so imagine my surprise when my cappuccino came out of a machine and tasted like sweet hot chocolate. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and mushrooms. I received unseasoned eggs which sat on top of unmelted Swiss cheese. The pancake batter was good but the the congealed butter stuck to the roof of my mouth. Not only was I disappointed, but I believe if you require cash, the food should be exceptional. read more

Cash ONLY place. Love this place, the owner is super friendly to everyone. One or two waitresses kinda have an attitude problem don't smile at anyone or even acknowledge you but it's all good we come for the food and can look pass the services. I ordered breakfast burritos from Scotty's restaurant and when I went home and opened the bag I noticed a hole on the container that looked to be from a rodent. I called to make a complaint and they were telling me that a shipment of those containers were bad. It seems they don't have a correct protocol put in place as the waitress kept repeating her self trying to make me look like a liar or like I was stupid and don't know the difference between a hole from a rodent and a damaged container. I asked to speak to a manager but she said there was no manger there, that she left, so I asked for the manager to please call me when she gets in. I went back to the restaurant to get my money back and explain to them that it's from a rodent and not what they are trying to make me believe. The cook and the waitress were rude and kept telling different. At that time I just asked for my money back as I knew I wasn't getting anywhere. I wasn't looking for problems as I just wanted my money back and for them to acknowledge that they have a pest problem. I have a picture of the container as well as a video showing them talking to me like I was making it up. I asked to speak to the manager again and all of a sudden the manager came out. I'm sure the employed never relayed the message in the first place and weren't ever going to. The manager also tried to deny it, but did ask how could she make it right. I responded and said nothing for now I just want my money back. I also asked them to stop denying it and to call pest control as this can get someone sick. I also told the cook to not be lazy and clean his kitchen and they wouldn't have a problem. These people have lack of customer service and respect. This is my first time writing a review in my life and it's only to make sure that they clean their place to make sure that the regulars/other people that go there don't get sick. read more

Awful food... Awful service. Hashbrowns came out cooked on bottom and top but raw in the middle, bacon came out half cooked when I specifically asked for the bacon to be cooked hard, toast was cold. Food sides came swapped on incorrect folks order. Server should have relized discrepancies before bringing out the plates. So she was just as fault as the cook. I am just reviewing this for the donut and coffee portion! The main food is my next mission to try! I thought that this is just an old rundown breakfast/lunch eatery! Boy,! I was wrong! It so happened that the Royal Jelly donuts (both of em), were closed that I decided to get donuts here for my kids! I was skeptical at first, since I didn't know that this is a hidden gem here! Also got apple fritters, (good too), chocolate icing one, sugared, donut holes ($1.95 for 12pcs). Paid in cash. Only debit and cash, no credit. That was Saturday morning. Sunday comes, went back, got more donuts and coffee this time. Coffee is self-served. You're on your own! Variety of coffee, from regular to decaf, to roast, macadamia, other flavors that you can think off. Stirrers, sugar, creamer and cofee are all out there. Just pour, sip and go. The lady who prep my donuts in the box was friendly, while the white lady, chubby, with thick make-up at the register, not so much! Hope she interacts more and smile even just a little bit will draw more customers and less wrinkles in her pretty face.. just sayin. I will be back here to try their breakfast and will update on what my taste buds says. Btw, Asian owners, are very nice! Seems like a friendly neighborhood and regulars they know them pretty well! The Service is as good as you can get for My hometown ;). It's a quasi old school diner feeling, but a treasure in Vallejo non the less. They have great breakfast, but even better for Donuts. I think Bacon and eggs are easy to replicate in diner settings like this... But if you don't know what to order Trust the "All American" even if your a foreign person, or an illegal alien resident. This is what you want, they won't even ask you for your citizenship. Check out the Bakery, as was mentioned earlier. But if anything bring cash...since it's cash only. read more

I have only had breakfast here....when we first moved to Vallejo we somehow found this place (the bank is across the street - which is good because it is CASH ONLY). We ate here every weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and people started to know what we drank, how we liked our eggs, toast and hash browns (I like my hash browns crispy aka fried in a whole lot of grease...). One of the ladies even knew that during football season we came in between the morning and night games :) so that when I came to eat breakfast at 2pm - she smiled and said "football." This is not fine dining...it's like a large diner....the donuts are good and fresh. The steak and eggs - its not the best cut of steak but its good for the price. Corn beef hash is good - it has little cubes of potato and not the shredded potato. Most of the breakfast foods are good and I really can't find anything to complain about. It is a regular good old breakfast spot where I can always find what I want...but once someone I was with ordered a poached egg and complained it was not perfect (yeah, she sucks) so if you don't need a perfect poached egg this place will satisfy your need for a good breakfast. read more

My wife suggested we try someplace new for breakfast... I let her look for a place that looked good and she drove us there. I've been pretty much preoccupied for the last two weeks, what with all the incompetents I have to deal with at work and the insane deadlines and constraints and what not... Awww fuck it, if I'm not boring you with this shit then I'm certainly boring myself. So we get to Scotty's, which is both a cafe that serves breakfast and lunch *AND* a Donut shop. Apparently that's what they started with, some 70+ years ago: making donuts. They eventually branched out to serve breakfast and lunch. Let's just say this place is "old school" and most of the patrons we saw have clearly been coming here for several decades. My wife had the bacon avocado omelette served up as a scramble. There was easily half an avocado in that scramble. Together with the bacon, sour cream, and some green onions, that's a hearty and very tasty breakfast. Her breakfast deserves 5 stars for sure. I went with the #2 breakfast, with 2 eggs scrambled, 2 sausage patties, and 2 pancakes. Good breakfast for the money, but the eggs were way too dry. 3 stars there. Oh, we also split a donut, to figure out what the whole fuss was about... Filled with some raspberry filling, that was a 5 star donut for sure. In fact I think next time I may just get a cup of coffee and a couple of donuts because that was one of the tastiest donuts I've had in quite a while! Average all this stuff out and I'm giving them 4 solid stars. It's great bang for your buck... The atmosphere leaves much to be desired. That said, if you're looking for a genuine old school 50s style breakfast joint, you could do far worse than Scotty's. CASH ONLY. Food: I ordered "The All American" with a side of waffles. The waffles were bigger than I expected. Where it lacked fluffiness, it redeemed itself in taste. The toast was great! I got my eggs,sausage, and hash browns. Everything was around $10 which was reasonable. BOTTOM LINE: The place closes early, and their main focus is breakfast, you can get lunch too. Scotty's is your usual "greasy spoon" except the place is immaculate (including the bathrooms) and the food is not greasy AT ALL. The service is excellent. It has a very homey,humble feel. I effing love this joint. There are a lot of good breakfast places in the V but I think this is my favorite. I don't get the fancy omelets like I do at good day or the Joy but man the two eggs and cheese sandwich is almost as cheap as eating at home but they aren't terrible cooks like me. I always forget about this place but my mini me keeps talking about it when she eats there with her friends. The hubby and I came here today for brunch around 11:30 and we were seated right away in a booth. We placed our order of King's omelette that came with hash brown and toast and hubby order the bacon avocado omelette and we split a side order of the waffle. I also ordered their coffee which I remember was always so good and I truly enjoyed that cup of brew. As other yelp reviewers have mentioned the place is dated and is cash only but they have an ATM right by the door for your convenience and two banks across the street. It was quite a wait for the food then again I was starving so it could have felt like ages to me. Anyways once the waitress brought our food out I was grubbing on it that I forgot to take pictures of anything. Back to the food, my omelette was so good!! It came with ham, bacon, onions, mushrooms, bell pepper and avocados. I highly recommend it. My hubby really enjoyed his bacon avocado omelette. I liked the waffle (my mini me loves the waffle here) but hubby says it was ok as he prefers his waffles crispy. The waitresses always made sure to check on us frequently for any needs and refills of our coffee which I truly appreciated. For the amount of food we got I felt the price was reasonable for $32. Finally on the way out, I decided to try a donut from here as I have never had one here. I ended up getting the maple bar filled. I took it home to share with my mini me and we both agreed it was so delicious and soft. I loved the amount of filling they put in too. In a rather nerve wracking time, as we were helping family move to their new home in Vallejo, CA. we came to Scotty's on the way into town. We are strangers to the town, and didn't know many people there...so Scotty's was recommended to us. We were glad they did. There are two reasons you go to a restaurant (seems to me)-- to be fed, and to meet friends. We didn't know anyone in the town, and they made us feel like family, or more like friends (family has to wash dishes)...and they fed us well. It was a solid well done meal: biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and omelettes, all done in a savory and delicious fashion. This is the best breakfast restaurant in Solano county. Yes, Bab's in Suisun is very good too, but this hidden gem is better, in my opinion. It's not as well-known, probably because it's in an "ok" area of Vallejo. It's not too far off the freeway and there's usually not a long wait, which is common at some other breakfast places. I had the waffles, scrambled eggs, and ham special, which also came with orange juice, at a very reasonable price. Scotty's is also very well-known for its donuts, which are the best ones in this area. The service is great, the food is delivered quickly, and this is definitely a place that you would likely frequent again and again. One caveat: they only accept cash. This is strange, especially now that we're living in a digital world that's starting to minimize the need to carry cash, but it is what it is. A small price to pay for great food. read more

Just your average breakfast diner in Vallejo! It gets crowded in here. Donuts are good, and the menu is big. You'll find something you like, whatever it is. I usually go for biscuits and gravy, and it's good here, albeit nothing special. I also ordered a side of sausage patties on my last visit, but they were sooooo greasy. Not the best. My dad is an almost-every-day-regular, and he and my brother come almost every Sunday together, too. If I lived in Vallejo still, I would probably come more, too. Just to start, this place has fabulous Donuts if that's all you want. No, we were in the area for the Nascar race and we actually found this on Yelp and decided to give it a try, and we were definitely not disappointed. The food and service were both wonderful, definitely got your money's worth and everything we ordered was delicious and came out quick and hot. Best local place in town. I go almost every weekend. They have doughnuts and great coffee selection.

The service was weird. We had one person who gave us drinks. One person who took our order. And another person who brought our food. Frankly, we didn't know who to tip. The food was okay. The service was timely (albeit a different person each time). And they were very welcoming of kids. Food is excellent, consistent and made with FRESH, QUALITY ingredients -- the gentlemen who work the griddle are top notch and keep their kitchen spotless.
