The Old Fashioned Glazed is a must! Not overly sweet and fresh!

I'm still clapping after eating here! JEEZ! When walking in, you are immediately greeted by a wonderful lady who directed us to take any seat available. I got super comfy town diner feels when sitting down like if you come here often all of the regulars will know your name hahaha The PLUS is that they had the morning news up on their TV so I felt like I was at home since I usually catch up with what's going on in the world first thing in the morning. I ordered the CHICKEN FRIED STEAK and ooooohhhhh weeeee! It was perfect! It came with 2 perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs, hash browns, and a good sized chicken fried steak that was topped with gravy that at first bite just gives you that home cooked/ soul filling feel! The sourdough toast was generously buttered with an assortment of jams on the table to choose from. I'll take a strawberry one hahaha If you like heat, I suggest getting that hot sauce bottle labeled "Ray'" and putting that on your hash browns! It was my first time having it and WOW! I. LOVED. IT. What's Tabasco again??? Hahaha It'd go great on tacos, a burrito, anything! I was close to asking if I could buy one hahaha The coffee is good and strong! Our waitress provided great customer service. She took our orders quickly and was always there at the perfect time to ask if I needed a coffee fill up. Will definitely be back! After coming here, you'll no longer want to go to the other breakfast places in Vallejo. As of today , this is my new #1 breakfast spot! *They also have donuts! The old fashioned glazed is the best I've had in town. It's fresh and not overly sweet/ glazed. PERFECT.

Easy parking Easy seating- basically find a spot Fair diner atmosphere- a little upkeep for the shared items like menus would help and be appreciated I like the menu and honestly my hubby brought me breakfast from here last summer but yesterday was my first time eating in. It seems like a Vallejo staple, I believe I read since 1937. I definitely have an affinity for Nostalgic locations. I had a Jacks scramble with spinach and mushrooms, sourdough toast, and hash browns; one teen had French toast; other teen pancakes with sausage and eggs (she ate my hash browns). Filling food, nice service, and oh, CASH ONLY.

This place used to be a gem in Vallejo but no longer. It is under new ownership and has really gone downhill. We went a few weeks ago and the place was not clean and in great need of a remodel. Seats were torn and dirty. The tables, and bar stools were also worn. The service is ok if you can get the servers on a good day. Ours was a little grumpy and seemed put out when we requested extra napkins, fresh cream for coffee, etc. Their cream is on the tables in an old fashioned silver server that sits on the table all morning so if you go for a late breakfast it has been sitting there for almost 4 hours and it didn't smell good. Their sugar is also kept in a very dirty used glass server with a flip lid that is always crusted over and doesn't look very clean. Our food came out cold and the hash brown potatoes were almost raw. (See photo) Another problem for us is that the place is "cash only". There is an ATM inside the restaurant and you are referred to it by the servers in a very grumpy manner if you even give them the slightest protest about not being able to use your credit card. I witnessed this happening about 3 times while we were there when someone tried to just come in for donuts at the counter. Also beware that this area has a lot of homeless and they sometimes hang out around the restaurant. High crime area so keep your valuables out of sight if you go. End of an era due to new ownership. We won't be back.

My husband and I LOVE this place! Open breakfast and lunch. Fresh donuts and pastries available for dine-in or take-out. Friendly and attentive waitstaff. Quick service regardless of how busy it is. Food is excellent, consistent and made with FRESH, QUALITY ingredients -- the gentlemen who work the griddle are top notch and keep their kitchen spotless. Sit at the counter and watch the chef make crazy thin omelettes on the griddle with no pan!. Prices are affordable. Cash only but they have an ATM if you forget. Customer base is diverse and always friendly. There is a lot of pride among the owners/employees of Scotty's and it shines thru to the food and service. 5 STARS! We both agree, there really isn't any other place we'd want to dine out for breakfast if it's not Scotty's. read more

I ate here for the first time a few weeks ago and the guys I met up with were shocked that I had never been. They were telling me about the donuts and how great the food was and it was my friends' birthday request for some guys to grab breakfast, so I went. I must say, although the service was great and it seemed like every diner there knew each other, the food was just OK to me. I ordered pancakes with bacon and eggs. The pancakes were a bit gooey still and they did not have that "airiness" that I expect from pancakes. The bacon was like a soggy scab and didn't have much flavor. The eggs weren't seasoned though they were cooked exactly as I asked. What it boils down to, to me, is would I go back and I would have to say no. I hate to say it, but Joy of Eating, not too far from here, is still my go to breakfast spot in the V. In fact, we were supposed to eat there but they weren't open yet, which is the one advantage for you early birds that this place has over them, maybe the only one. One more thing, they are CASH ONLY, so get ready for ATM fees if you need to use the one they have or get ready to run to one of the banks across the street. read more

I absolutely LOVE Scotty's! Wonderful service, cozy atmosphere, huge portions, and delicious donuts! I usually get a bacon, ham, and avocado omelette with sour cream and it never disappoints! It also comes with toast and hash browns, and it is easily enough food for two people. One of my favorite aspects of Scotty's is that the food is never overly greasy. Huge win and a rarity for a diner! Scotty's truly has the basics or great food and great service down pat, and it will continue to be my go-to breakfast spot in Vallejo! read more

Customers Beware! Seriously- try to support my local community and eat locally. The service is horrible and they can't even calculate their bill correctly. There is such thing called a calculator and then have the stupid attitude that we were pestering them. read more

What an awesome find!!!! We were on our way to Napa and we're searching Yelp for a breakfast spot and saw this place and decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did. It's a home town diner full of locals and they made us feel right at home. The menu has so many great options it was hard to choose. I went with an omelet that was made to order and was the size of a catchers mitt and hash browns made to perfection. The quality, the quantity, the price, the service were all 5 star. This is a great place for breakfast! read more

New yrs day.... I decided to order my favorite breakfast.. Steak and eggs, Steak was soooo Aweful and Dry, and no taste ... it's like the meat wasn't Marinated at all.. i have to put lots and lots of bbq sauce and salt and pepper just to have a taste on the meat. And importantly the servers who's pouring coffee for refills needed to be extra careful and not to be in a hurry and doing sudden movements especially with kids also eating because Hot coffee was dripping and spilling from the Hot pot after refilling a cup.. An Accident waiting to happen read more

Scotty's Cafe has been serving Vallejo from the same location since 1937! Wow that's a long time. I have eaten here a few times and find it to be a good value for the food that you get. I have only eaten breakfast (for lunch) here. Good omelets and French toast. They have tables, booths and counter seating available. They aslo make their own donuts and have been for 70 years. I have not tried one yet but people say that they are good. I guess I have to like a diner with my name, right? ; ) read more

Love coming to this place for breakfast. I highly recommend their omeletes and corned beef hash dishes. All the breakfast items are made from scratch. Came here for lunch the other day, I ordered the ruben and my boss ordered a regular hamburger. Was expecting more for $9, there was maybe 2-3 credit card stacks of corned beef on my ruben and an inch of saurkraut. Flavors were decent, but more meat would have been better. especially when it costs the same as the breakfast items and you get more corned beef in the hash than the sandwich... Overall, a good coffee/donut shop in Vallejo. Great for breakfast. read more

This is definitely a local favorite. I was in the area on business and stoped there for breakfast. I ordered the corn beef hash and eggs. Corn beef hash is from a can which was fine with me. The order came out exactly as I requested crispy hashbrowns and well-done corn beef hash. Staff is super friendly. Do take note that it is cash only. They have an ATM on site in case you need it. read more

Quality fast food, at very reasonable prices. We dine there at least once a week, sometimes two or three times and have consistently been impressed and satisfied. I thought the food was okay. I did appreciate they used real eggs for our omelet. My only complaint is my daughter did have a hair in her food, but the manager quickly apologized and made her another breakfast. I was a little surprised that they still charged us for her breakfast. I was also a touch perplexed that they do not accept credit cards (they do have an ATM) machine near the register, which charges a fee to access your cash. I can see where this could cause an unexpected or unnecessary wait. I would like to give them another chance if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Scotty's is my absolute favorite spot for breakfast. Their French Toast is amazing. Everything is amazing actually. If you want a real, home cooked meal, this is your place ! The customer service is out of this world. Everyone here is incredibly nice, warm, and helpful !! I'd recommend Scotty's to anyone & I just keep going back !! My entire family loves it. P.S. Food is pretty good. I had the french toast and they were really tasty and fluffy. We also ordered the shrimp omelette and eggs with ham plate. Service was great, prices on point. Only thing its missing is a changing station for babies in either of the two restrooms. read more

Our favorite family owned breakfast joint. Everyone there is a big family and it shows when you enter this hidden gem restaurant. Boyfriend religiously ordered corned beef n hash saying no one else made it better. I enjoy their bacon avocado omelette- the thing was so big I had to take almost half home. Their burritos are massive! (chorizo burrito is stupid good)-my Fav! I give 5 stars because they have great service, reasonable prices, nice location, and delicious food for the early birds and/or poor hungover college students read more

The food was great the first time I went I ordered the club sandwich it was really good. The second day I went I ordered a omelette it was also really good. I'm not a coffee drinker but I ordered some and both days it was watery so they need to improve their coffee. The other thing that needs improvement is their method of payment they take cash only. No debit or credit cards taken good thing WellsFargo bank is across the street and I was able to walk over there and withdraw the money. This is the reason why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 stars. read more

I had never been to a Black Bear Diner before, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. The location was clean, busy, and definitely has that classic Black Bear Diner look. Some of the decor feels a little dated, but I actually think that's part of the charm and the overall theme. What I didn't expect was how much merchandise they have! They basically have an entire little shopping area inside the restaurant with all kinds of Black Bear stuff. I thought that was pretty cool. Since we were coming from Sacramento and had already spent the day out, me and Dad weren't really hungry enough for a full meal. We grabbed coffee and energy drinks while the boys got kids' meals. The kids' meals also came with either a little ice cream sundae or strawberries, so of course the boys went for the sundaes. The staff was friendly, although we ended up having a couple different people helping us because they were switching shifts while we were there. Everyone we interacted with was nice and everything went smoothly. The only little disappointment was that we had made sure to mention that it was Avery's birthday because we were trying to make his day extra special. I honestly expected that there might be some kind of birthday perk for the birthday kid, especially at a restaurant that is so heavily family-oriented, but there wasn't. That's definitely not something I'm taking stars away for, because I fully expected to pay for the meal anyway. It just would have been a nice little touch. I didn't order a meal myself, so I can't really give a fair review of the food. I did steal a bite of Avery's pancakes after he was finished, though. Overall, I'd call this a 3.5-star experience that I'm rounding up to 4. We had been to the Walnut Creek Buttercup a few times and always had a good experience. We were seated quickly and in spite of the after lunch timing there was still a good number of patrons in the restaurant, a good sign. We wanted to try their omelettes, so I ordered the Denver omelette and my wife the Florentine omelette. The lunch came remarkably fast, which was good because we were hungry! Each order came with hash browns on the side, which were nicely cooked. Both our omelettes were excellent, and we had enough left over for dinner. Our server was very friendly and shared that she had been there 21 years - a good sign that this place takes care of their people. We'll be back to try their desserts.
