I really enjoyed coming here for breakfast on a weekday. It was filled with senior citizens so it made me feel safe even though the neighborhood is not that great. They have these thin crispy waffles that were soooo good- I'm still dreaming about it. Breakfast portions were not too big or too small and it was priced reasonably. All I was looking for was a good mom and pop restaurant that served classic diner fare. Scotty's popped up with 4 stars on yelp so we decided to give it a try. Worst decision ever. It's a hole in the wall located across the street from Dollar General off of Tennessee in Vallejo. The outside was dumpy and the inside was dumpy but it was packed so I figure it was some type of hidden gem. WRONG. Service was horrendous and the food was something a kindergartner could've slapped together. We ordered omelettes and a burger. The burger was so obviously a wimpy frozen patty that they just slapped on a bun and threw a slice of cheese on top (the cheese wasn't melted at all, the burger was cold, we had to send it back to warm it up). My omelette was made with sliced American cheese and ham lunch meat. But the food was only part of it....our waitress (a girl with glasses and a frown) sucked so bad...she never came to check on us, we constantly were asking the busboy for refills or status on our food. He was so kind. At one point, I saw our waitress peek around the corner at us and then hurry up and turn back around. We waited 30 minutes for our food to come out. A tall grumpy looking older blonde lady brought it out a plate at a scattered time. She just plopped a plate here and a plate there almost like she was mad that we ordered food. Ridiculous. There was no excusing the horrible attitudes we experienced. There was one lady who was very nice (may have been the owner or manager) who came by and offered water. She at least was smiling. Food is ok- it's a diner. If I specifically ask for my hash browns to be crispy- it means I dont like your raw hash browns. Do not offer them if you can't cook hash browns right. I asked for crispy hash browns, and got raw. The is the order ticket and I saw waitress did not e even make the crispy request on the order. It was ignored. Still it's criminal to serve hash browns with no brown on outside regardless, and raw on inside. read more

Love Scotty's! Go here for Sunday breakfast/brunch. Their donuts are soft and sweet! Always order some before my actually meal. This is a vallejo favorite. My go to order is a Scotty's #2, it has: bell peppers, ham, bacon, onions, mushrooms, and cheese. It's soooo yummy. The service is great!! Has the whole diner feel. I have been a customer here for over 19 Years. I was there last week for a Griiled cheese my favorite. On this day it was horrible. The cheese wasn't even melted and bread nit grilled. I waited 40 minutes for my food. The waitress Alana was very rude. And has no customer service skills. I asked her for her name she spelled it out like a kindergartener. She never apologized just wanted to take the sandwich back to reheat. I declined the offer. I did pay forcthe coffee i drank while waiting for my order. To be blunt, the food was not worth the price. They did not have anything fresh on hand, food was not seasoned, and it was very bland. My fiancé had asked for sauce for her steak and they had given her a crusted over bottle of A-1 Steak Sauce. I had ordered the fish and chips. The fish was dry and the tartar sauce was not appetizing at all. They had mentioned they had no coleslaw on deck for the fish and chips but I'm thinking I had dodged a bullet by them not having it on hand. I was looking for a breakfast spot close to home. I've been in Vallejo only since April and really haven't been able to explore it much. Came across Scotty's and looked at the menu. What brought me in was the bacon avocado omelette. I've had it twice now in a week :) has to be the tastiest omelette I've ever had. My problem is when I find something I like at a place I'll stick with it and not try much else. But today I'm going to go back and try something different. Where do you stop for breakfast or lunch if you are in Vallejo? How about Scotty's? As a bonus they have their own parking lot. We walked in and were greeted and told to sit wherever we like, choosing a booth. The wait staff was attentive and helpful, another waitress who was not even ours also chatted at us a little bit. This place looks like an institution, very old school or authentic like it's been here forever. It probably has. You see a bunch of slightly beat up tables and booths with a long counter. On the other side of the counter you can see the staff doing their stuff. The waitresses working made sure to check on us a few times and the fact that I was the only one ordering food (BF was not hungry) didn't bother them. The food itself is basic and I ended up getting a vegetable omelet. It needed a little salt and pepper, but better to add those after the fact and season to taste. When I first came to scottys i had never even heard of this place before and I must've drove past this cafe numerous times. LOCATION: It's on a busy street right off of Tennessee Street in Vallejo, with a small grocery center across the street, the freeway towards Sacramento and San Francisco are about less than 4mins away from the cafe. So I would think it's in a pretty prime location of Vallejo. FOOD: The food is delicious, first time I came here I feel in love with the French toast and Country Fried Streak( I recommend both of them) I've also tried the pancakes and the Omelette both are on my recommendation list. The country fried steak gravy isn't to thick the food is flavorful o be a cafe spot! RESTAURANT: The restaurant screams old fashion cafe! They have doughnuts and coffee for sale at the front, if you're in a rush and need to grab something and go! It's cash only. I wanna say you get what you pay for, but I've definitely gotten better for same price. Coffee was brought to the table first which I didn't want any and water felt like it took forever. The bacon wasn't bad but I wouldn't write home about it. The eggs "cooked to order" were eh. Over medium was what I wanted but the whites weren't even fully cooked while the outer parts were crisped. The service here was really good. You get that nice diner feeling here. It's a cozy joint that isn't that big. There's a little bakery area you see when you walk in. You can tell this place can get busy but I doubt there's a usual wait for some reason. I don't remember what I got, but I remember that I wish I got an omelette. Good price for food, almost all the entrees are priced under $10. Portion size is on the smaller side, but that's ok with me when you consider the great price you are paying. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was very good. The toast I had was toasted to perfection, probably the best toast I've ever ate. Eggs over easy were spot on. The hash browns weren't cooked to a crisp, which I prefer, but that is completely biased flaw on my end. The setting is gives you an old time diner feel. Great tasting coffee and great service. Have you ever heard people talking about a place for some so long that you're compelled to go? I visited Scotty's for the first time and thought I would try breakfast. I brought cash as I heard this is a cash only spot. I have red meat allergies so no chicken apple sausage, or turkey bacon meant my breakfast options were limited to no meat. The place looks like something out of a time warp. The booths were dirty and missing cushion; which probably would have been overlooked had the food been acceptable. The awning out front advertised flavored coffee, and espresso so imagine my surprise when my cappuccino came out of a machine and tasted like sweet hot chocolate. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and mushrooms. I received unseasoned eggs which sat on top of unmelted Swiss cheese. If you are looking for a greasy spoon style breakfast, you could do a lot worse. Pancakes were worth a try, while the sausage patties and country fried steak were excellent. Although it seems wrong, go ahead and skip the half order of biscuits and gravy to go along with that country fried steak. The gravy complemented the steak, but was fairly bland on the biscuits. I ordered breakfast burritos from Scotty's restaurant and when I went home and opened the bag I noticed a hole on the container that looked to be from a rodent. I called to make a complaint and they were telling me that a shipment of those containers were bad. It seems they don't have a correct protocol put in place as the waitress kept repeating her self trying to make me look like a liar or like I was stupid and don't know the difference between a hole from a rodent and a damaged container. I asked to speak to a manager but she said there was no manger there, that she left, so I asked for the manager to please call me when she gets in. I went back to the restaurant to get my money back and explain to them that it's from a rodent and not what they are trying to make me believe. The cook and the waitress were rude and kept telling different. At that time I just asked for my money back as I knew I wasn't getting anywhere. I wasn't looking for problems as I just wanted my money back and for them to acknowledge that they have a pest problem. I have a picture of the container as well as a video showing them talking to me like I was making it up. I asked to speak to the manager again and all of a sudden the manager came out. I'm sure the employed never relayed the message in the first place and weren't ever going to. The manager also tried to deny it, but did ask how could she make it right. I responded and said nothing for now I just want my money back. I also asked them to stop denying it and to call pest control as this can get someone sick. I also told the cook to not be lazy and clean his kitchen and they wouldn't have a problem. These people have lack of customer service and respect.
