I don't know what has happened to Scotty's in the past few years (besides the pandemic, which I admit, has been substantial). This used to be one of my favorite places to get breakfast or lunch, but the service has become ridiculous. Not only has the wait staff become more rude, they routinely run out of food. I get that this is a very tough time for the restaurant business, which is why I continued to support for a long while during this pandemic, but there has to be some basic level of service for it to even be worth spending my money. Lived in Vallejo starting in the late 90s and never went to Scotty's even though I heard about it all the time from the locals. Flash forward 20 years and I'm going through Vallejo on the 37 from Marin and decided to get breakfast. Decided I'd finally try Scotty's and I'm glad and disappointed at the same time. I'm disappointed I didn't go years ago and glad because it was great food and great service. Old diner vibe with great service. Your coffee mug will never be empty and if you need something the waitresses are on it. The corned beef hash is canned style and tastes great. The eggs benedict was good and the hash brown made fresh. 5 out of 5 stars. Felt cozy eating there too as a group of police officers came in to have a meeting and all the old-timer regulars were chatting over breakfast. It's a good vibe on a rainy day. This place has been here forever. There are regulars here all the time. The owner knows them by name which I find quite cool. I come here every so often but never had the time to review them. Great mom and pop place for the American classic breakfast. Portions are great and very satisfying for about $10. Great brunch options as well if you're not a fan of breakfast. I ordered my usual, Jack's Special, which is an omelette with mushrooms, spinach, and swiss cheese. It comes with a side of hash browns and toast. Awesomeness for about $10! read more

All I was looking for was a good mom and pop restaurant that served classic diner fare. Scotty's popped up with 4 stars on yelp so we decided to give it a try. Worst decision ever. It's a hole in the wall located across the street from Dollar General off of Tennessee in Vallejo. The outside was dumpy and the inside was dumpy but it was packed so I figure it was some type of hidden gem. WRONG. Service was horrendous and the food was something a kindergartner could've slapped together. We ordered omelettes and a burger. The burger was so obviously a wimpy frozen patty that they just slapped on a bun and threw a slice of cheese on top (the cheese wasn't melted at all, the burger was cold, we had to send it back to warm it up). My omelette was made with sliced American cheese and ham lunch meat. But the food was only part of it....our waitress (a girl with glasses and a frown) sucked so bad...she never came to check on us, we constantly were asking the busboy for refills or status on our food. He was so kind. At one point, I saw our waitress peek around the corner at us and then hurry up and turn back around. We waited 30 minutes for our food to come out. A tall grumpy looking older blonde lady brought it out a plate at a scattered time. She just plopped a plate here and a plate there almost like she was mad that we ordered food. Ridiculous. There was no excusing the horrible attitudes we experienced. There was one lady who was very nice (may have been the owner or manager) who came by and offered water. She at least was smiling. I hate giving this place a one star review but really it should be a no star review. Scotty's is a skip. Go to South Kelly Grill...they do food and service right. read more

I really enjoyed coming here for breakfast on a weekday. It was filled with senior citizens so it made me feel safe even though the neighborhood is not that great. They have these thin crispy waffles that were soooo good- I'm still dreaming about it. Breakfast portions were not too big or too small and it was priced reasonably. Ordered on DoorDash. It was very bad. It's like compared to a cheap hotel free breakfast. My French toast was undercooked, a piece had so much cinnamon it was inedible, and it left a weird other food dish aftertaste. Everything else we ordered was undercooked and bland. Food is ok- it's a diner. If I specifically ask for my hash browns to be crispy- it means I dont like your raw hash browns. Do not offer them if you can't cook hash browns right. I asked for crispy hash browns, and got raw. The is the order ticket and I saw waitress did not e even make the crispy request on the order. It was ignored. Love Scotty's! Go here for Sunday breakfast/brunch. Their donuts are soft and sweet! Always order some before my actually meal. This is a vallejo favorite. My daughter loves them all, and they are super sweet and genuine people. They treat their customers like family , which I love . My daughter always wants to go visit 'Honey'(the owner ) it's not her actual name but that's what my kid calls her because that's what she gets called when we walk in through the door . I have been a customer here for over 19 Years. I was there last week for a Griiled cheese my favorite. On this day it was horrible. The cheese wasn't even melted and bread nit grilled. I waited 40 minutes for my food. The waitress Alana was very rude. And has no customer service skills. I asked her for her name she spelled it out like a kindergartener. To be blunt, the food was not worth the price. They did not have anything fresh on hand, food was not seasoned, and it was very bland. My fiancé had asked for sauce for her steak and they had given her a crusted over bottle of A-1 Steak Sauce. I had ordered the fish and chips. The fish was dry and the tartar sauce was not appetizing at all. They had mentioned they had no coleslaw on deck for the fish and chips but I'm thinking I had dodged a bullet by them not having it on hand. I was looking for a breakfast spot close to home. I've been in Vallejo only since April and really haven't been able to explore it much. Came across Scotty's and looked at the menu. What brought me in was the bacon avocado omelette. I've had it twice now in a week :) has to be the tastiest omelette I've ever had. My problem is when I find something I like at a place I'll stick with it and not try much else. But today I'm going to go back and try something different. I think Scotty's will be my go to breakfast spot. The service is stellar the only item I've tried was amazing so I need to explore more of the menu. We walked in and were greeted and told to sit wherever we like, choosing a booth. The wait staff was attentive and helpful, another waitress who was not even ours also chatted at us a little bit. This place looks like an institution, very old school or authentic like it's been here forever. It probably has. You see a bunch of slightly beat up tables and booths with a long counter. On the other side of the counter you can see the staff doing their stuff. The waitresses working made sure to check on us a few times and the fact that I was the only one ordering food (BF was not hungry) didn't bother them. The food itself is basic and I ended up getting a vegetable omelet. It needed a little salt and pepper, but better to add those after the fact and season to taste. When I first came to scottys i had never even heard of this place before and I must've drove past this cafe numerous times. LOCATION: It's on a busy street right off of Tennessee Street in Vallejo, with a small grocery center across the street, the freeway towards Sacramento and San Francisco are about less than 4mins away from the cafe. So I would think it's in a pretty prime location of Vallejo. FOOD: The food is delicious, first time I came here I feel in love with the French toast and Country Fried Streak( I recommend both of them) I've also tried the pancakes and the Omelette both are on my recommendation list. The country fried steak gravy isn't to thick the food is flavorful o be a cafe spot! RESTAURANT: The restaurant screams old fashion cafe! They have doughnuts and coffee for sale at the front, if you're in a rush and need to grab something and go! It's cash only. The cafe looks like it has been opened for a very long time, the structure of things is old fashioned and sometimes old fashion is good fashion! The employees here are very friendly people, you can tell they get a lot of the same faithful customers: the employees knows a lot of people that comes by name and what they already want to eat. I was looking for a place to eat breakfast and found this spot as I was driving. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and the three stack pancakes. The omelette tasted fresh and it was decent. The service here was really good. You get that nice diner feeling here. It's a cozy joint that isn't that big. There's a little bakery area you see when you walk in. You can tell this place can get busy but I doubt there's a usual wait for some reason. I don't remember what I got, but I remember that I wish I got an omelette. Good price for food, almost all the entrees are priced under $10. Portion size is on the smaller side, but that's ok with me when you consider the great price you are paying. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was very good. The toast I had was toasted to perfection, probably the best toast I've ever ate. Eggs over easy were spot on. The hash browns weren't cooked to a crisp, which I prefer, but that is completely biased flaw on my end. The setting is gives you an old time diner feel. Great tasting coffee and great service.
