My experience with Hawaiian food, is just Hawaiian bbq. I walked into this place thinking it was a straight up basic breakfast spot but yooo I was wrong as heezy. It's breakfast with a Hawaiian twist, they have items that you won't usually see like spicy chicken bacon and waffles, which is what I ordered. The food was above and dennys or whatever but i felt like my meal was lacking just a bit of something, the menu is enticing enough for me to want go back and order another item. Stopped at Scramblers Cafe because Bob's Big Boy doesn't open for breakfast until 9am and they were basically in the same parking lot. Next time time I will wait for Big Boy. Even the water was nasty! You had to serve yourself water from a coke machine and I honestly think the waterline needs to be cleaned and checked as the water does not taste like water nor like the lemonade it may be connected to. The scrambled eggs taste like powder and were brown and a big clump. All the food was cold and hard. Toast was hard- no butter and you should keep your dentist on speed dial. Potatoes as well. Pancakes taste was purely dirty griddle. Had to wait for coffee and once received it was bitter as if it had sat at the bottom of a pot for an hour and had burnt. First time at Scramblers Cafe, and I was already planning my next visit. It's homey , bright, and the servers walk around topping off your coffee. It's great. It's a casual place; you are welcomed as "ohana " which means you're family in Hawaiian. You do order at a counter and then they seat you and bring you the food. The food!!! It's yummy Hawaiian classics, like loco moco and kalua pork meets SoCal classics like chilaquiles , breakfast burritos, waffles, pancakes and my favorite , eggs benedict. It was hard to choose. They give generous portions (go there hungry ), it's reasonably priced, and it's a humble establishment. It's clear the locals in Norco love it, there was a line out the door by 10 am. I enjoyed my meal so much. We're were in town for a tournament , so imagine my surprise to find this pleasant spot to leisurely have a delicious home cooked meal. It's tucked away in a shopping center, so do take my advice and park a little further away from the actual restaurant and walk over. It's less hassle, and it's easier to leave if you park further (and you will get more steps in!!!) read more

But it's understandable since the place was packed inside and out. My huevos rancheros were alright. The sauce was pretty good, but the potatoes were just okay. I LOVED the French toast though. Beyond that, would I call it a Hawaiian brunch spot? no, not really, I was truly expecting, after seeing their popular Instagram video on my feed, an experience at least somewhat similar to the amazing Hawaiian brunch fair that I've had many times on the many islands of Hawaii. Wow! So disappointed. Horrible parking was the first thing that should have told us to go elsewhere. Then I watched as an employee opened the front door to go through and didn't hold the door for customers behind him. I saw this behavior several times. Inside was cramped and featureless. The food was overpriced ($50 for 2 basic breakfast items and drinks), and just ok in quality. The home fries are just chunks of potatoes that were fried, with very little, if any, seasoning. The breakfast items were basic, and served barely warm. Although it was a nice touch dusting the top of the eggs Benedict with paprika, the sauce was bland and appeared to be from a jar, not made fresh. Our meals were brought out separately, a couple minutes apart, which is odd, considering neither was hot. After being served our meals we had no attention from staff until we had completed our meals. Although it was very basic, the lack of timely service and high prices makes this a big NO for the future. read more

Great breakfast place! Looks like it gets very busy. I went in at noon so I ordered and was given a table number to sit at. My food came out quickly! I ordered the most basic breakfast plate because I had eaten a little before going. I know, I know, tsk, tsk. The plate I got was the triple 2 which I got with eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The food was good, filling, and felt light, I just was not a big fan of the buttermilk pancakes. My friend got the Loco moco one of their signature plates, I tried it and it was delicious! It had rice, spam, and eggs on top. Ok so I came back, it was a busy Sunday morning. There was a line, but no worries it moved quickly! I ordered the huecos rancheros and they were yummy and spicy! Well, we took to Yelp! and found a wonderful Hawaiian diner called Scrambler's Cafe. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was immediately blown away by the unique breakfast options, which included things like Captain Crunch Pancakes, Oreo Cookies n Cream Belgian Waffles, and a drink called P.O.G. juice, which is a blend of pineapple, orange, and guava juices! The service was good, the food high quality and unique - but I will warn you, the place gets crowded and there can be a long wait (in our case, 45 minutes - but to be fair we WERE warned as we placed our order). I think my friends and I came just when the morning rush ended. Diners were leaving while there were a few still eating. No complaints with the food. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Inside the cafe was a bit stuffy so we ate outside. While the staff were attentive to clean the tables, they fell short with customer service. Simple gesture like "hello what can I get for you" or "let me know if you have any question with the menu". Not just stand behind the counter and stare at us was completely uninviting. When our food came the young lady just said, "here you go" like a robot and walked away. We were in disbelief! I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt and say that it was a busy morning and perhaps they were already tired. I had the Loco Moco as traditional as possible: with hamburger, steamed rice, and an over easy egg. The hamburger was well done, so it was a bit drier than it could be. I'd probably try the fried rice next time for added flavor. The egg was perfect. I'd give it a 7/10. Not bad and not amazing, just good. Not like Rainbow Drive in on Oahu, but that's an expensive flight for a Loco Moco. My wife had the Chicken Fried Steak. She said it was good and gave hers a 7/10 or a 7.5/10 also. Plenty of gravy, the seasoning was good, appropriate tenderness. I tasted it and would call it an 8/10. The house potatoes did not taste good to either of us. Not sure if it was the oil it was cooked in or what. The scrambled eggs were good. Enjoyed a very nice breakfast on the patio. Watched a guy hold his fork to his plate, put his lower lip on his plate, then push his face forward through an enormous pile of rice towards the fork, somewhat like a front end loader picking up a load of dirt. Came here with a friend at 8 am on a Saturday morning and they were already pretty busy. There's a sign that says to order before sitting down and they assign you a table when you order at the counter. We sat towards the back, which has smaller tables and is quieter than the from area where most of the families sit. We ordered the machaca omelette and the loco moco. Total was $27, including tip. The food came out within 15 minutes or so. The portions here are pretty large, especially their rice portions. I only ate half of my omelette. The flavors were pretty good and the ingredients tasted fresh. They also have lots of sweet options like pancakes and French toast if you're craving something sweet. Parking was free and plentiful in the lot in front of the building. There is a Starbucks drive thru nearby that exits in front of the restaurant. Definitely recommend coming early because it was more crowded as we were leaving. read more

Hands down, Scramblers is my favorite breakfast joint aside from Plums in Costa Mesa. Food is incredibly fresh and portions are generous. They also take special dietary requests, including my weird ones about no salt/added. Everything here is truly delightful, from their fresh and pulpy OJs to their creamy ube lattes, it's a craving my hubby and I have for almost every weekend. And the food? Ugh, everything is amaze but srsly, their bfast burritos are the types ppl write epic poems for. The ones where you're compelled to scream from the tops of cliffs, hollering your undying love for. They're HUGE and thick, stuffed to the brim but expertly wrapped. No tears or busted seams (looking at you Chipotle). And if you're a connoisseur of breakfast burritos like I am, you are perhaps well versed in the puddle of grease you're left with when you're working your way down from vertical heights. But not here! There's no puddley mess of despair or regret staring you down as you deliver your last bites. Nope, not here, they're as fresh as your first bites from the top. Which is absolutely magic. The meat, egg, and potato (we add +avocado) portions are well ratio'd, perhaps to perfection. Which, again, is why these bfast burritos are Homeric! PS they are SUPER popular.
