We have always loved this place, and normally would give it 5 stars. The atmosphere on the patio is relaxing, and our favorite place to share time with good friends because it is quiet and a great place to visit over drinks and food. That being said, the last two times we stopped in there were only 2 or 3 of the patio heaters working. A couple of weeks ago we stayed, but were told the propane canisters were empty and the person that fills them wasn't working. Last Thursday night we were simply told there were none available. We just moved to Augusta Ranch last week and then social distancing and COVID19 hit and left us locked up in our new home. Wanting to support local businesses during this time we headed to Yelp to see what was nearby only to find there's a restaurant inside of our community! Called in an order of 2 steak burgers with green chili and tater tots on the side. Hubby went to pick it up and couldn't stop raving about how nice everyone that worked there was and how appreciative they were for the support during this hard time. Hubby and I both played in the Augusta Ranch Short Course Classic golf tournament this weekend and had a fantastic time!! Every time we've played in this event the awards lunch at completion had been good, but this time it was fantastic! Service was fast, food came out hot delicious and quick (for hungry golfers), and drinks were ice cold! Portions were generous with leftovers to enjoy at home after a well-deserved nap! The bar tender touch and filled a customers personal cup brought from home. It may have not bothered me if the bar tender had washed her hands, but that did not happen. Came in at 810pm on a saturday night and had to walk out because they were not serving regular menu items, only fried food. So why were we still handed a full menu?? How about make a menu for after hours and for the food they can only serve. The Shack has the best burgers. Was there for a golf tournament and ate outside. Beautiful view of 9 hole. Ordered the burger and was blown away! Handmade, great roll and good Cole slaw. Stopped in for a quick beverage and a snack. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had been craving wings and our server highly recommended them. Also ordered some onion rings. They had Papago's Orange Bloosom beer on tap too which is one of my favotites. The wings were really good and the blue cheese dressing (dip for the wings) tasted homemade and so good. I bet it's great on a salad. Our server gave us the scoop about how a group got together and took over this place. We came in last Wednesday for Dinner and we were disappointed. My Husband's Hamburger was extremely overcooked. My Flatbread was undercooked, doughy and thick crust which is not my idea of Flatbread. Our Grandkids Macaroni and Cheese was terrible. The Kids hated it and normally they love Mac n Cheese. The Cheese sauce was thin and watery served on thick manicotti like pasta. I found this gem while visiting family in Mesa, AZ. At first, I thought the GPS was taking me to the wrong location, because it was in a residential area away from any main roads. This place was awesome with music on a patio, bean bag or corn hole outside with a large crowd, indoor seating, and sports TV's with domestic and craft beers. There was plenty of parking, and it appeared to be in a safe neighborhood. I fed a family of six for less than $50, and no one went home hungry. That's always a bonus. The only downfall is they didn't offer any vegetarian entrees, and the fried appetizers were a little over done. I would definitely recommend this place for families, date night, happy hour, sports, or a night on the town. It had a good vibe with a good crowd. read more

I'll Scratch this one off our list. We went on Saturday July 6th around 6pm and the dining room was empty - literally we were the only ones there. There were 2-3 people in the bar though. That, of course, was a big red flag, but we were hungry and not having to wait to be seated was welcome. The server was very friendly and did a good job, but the menu and food were simply not very good, unfortunately. Unlike the Vue, the restaurant that was in this location before that we went to many times, none of us were impressed with the menu - it just seemed like average fare; nothing particularly interesting or creative on the small menu. The Vue had a great, creative menu with very tasty food. Scratch Pub didn't, unfortunately. When it came time to order, despite the small menu, they were out of several items: no sweet potato tater tots (probably the most interesting thing on the menu), no brisket for the "Smoky Mac and Cheese," and there was one other thing they were out of, but I can't remember what now (maybe roast beef for the RB Cheddar sandwiches?). I ordered the Smoked Mac and Cheese, which was supposed to have smoked brisket, bacon, and BBQ seasoning. Since they were out of brisket, they offered double bacon, which I reluctantly accepted since there was nothing else appealing to me on the menu. When the food came, my plate had maybe 2 strips worth of mediocre bacon crumbled on top of the mac and cheese...and nothing else. It certainly didn't have even the slightest taste of "smoke" or BBQ. Indeed, my Smoked Mac and Cheese was the exact same mac and cheese my three year old ordered off of the kids menu, minus the tiny bit of "double bacon." The mac and cheese was not bad, but it was very bland and simple. It was the most bland "adult" mac and cheese I've ever had, anywhere. It was nothing like I had hoped based on the name and intent that it be an adult meal. My father in law ordered the Fish and Chips and was thoroughly unimpressed. He said the portion size of fish was way to small and the fish itself "wasn't very good." My mother in law ordered the "Cranberry-Walnut Chicken Salad," which she didn't care much for and was surprised to discover that the salad was actually a sandwich. Now, in fairness, that is part her fault though - the description of the salad does say "served on a fresh soft ciabatta roll" but the title is misleading by not having "sandwich" in it. She said the sandwich was mediocre. She got a side "cup of fruit" which appeared to be a child's cup of pears and peaches in clear syrup that you can buy the grocery store. The fruit was certainly not fresh cut fruit. My wife ordered the "Southwest Turkey Melt" and enjoyed it. She said "it wasn't amazing but was pretty good." I guess she had the best experience of the 7 of us. Now to be fair, none of the food was bad...it just wasn't very good. It was bland and uninspired. All of us felt like the menu was much more of a lunch menu and offered very little in the way of dinner meals. The building was clean and our server was friendly and attentive. Decided to try this place as had good reviews and we've always found in our own experience that most golf club restaurants have really good food. The dining room happened to be closed for an group event so we sat at the bar. We were greeted immediately by the bartender. They had about 6-7 beers on draft. Since it was happy hour it was $1 off each beer and $2 off appetizers. So we ordered our beers and the steak burger sliders. They are a 50/50 blend of smoked flank steak and ground beef topped with melted cheddar and perfectly crispy chewy bacon. What makes them over the top is the Hawaiian rolls they are served on. There are nicely grilled onions, fresh lettuce and sliced tomatoes on the side to add to your slider if you like. I dipped mine in the au jus that they come with but hubby went traditional with ketchup. These sliders are not skimpy on size or flavor. There are 4 so we each got 2 to devour. I ordered the Smoked Mac and Cheese, perfectly al dente cavatoppi pasta coated with a very generous amount of rich creamy cheese sauce. I was happy enough with this but then they mix in some smoked brisket (this is cut in cubes, which I thought it would be shredded) but a few pieces were very fatty which I found off putting. I just didn't eat those pieces. They also mix in big pieces of thick chewy bacon, which I loved. It was quite a large serving so I could only eat 1/2, especially after eating the 2 sliders and brought home leftovers. Hubby ordered Fish & Chips which came with 3 pieces batter fried cod and seasoned waffle fries. Everything was fried perfectly, cod was moist. But unfortunately the fries were cold. As soon as bartender heard this she ordered a new serving which came out promptly and hot. The tartar sauce was different then what we are used to but tasted good to me.
