    Breakfast Sandwich with potatoes. Amazing!
    Chef Omar R.

Good food, good service, and a comfortable ambiance is how I can describe Screen Door at PDX. I was leaving out of Terminal C and Screen Door is located in Terminal B. I thought it was going to be a long walk across, but it was about a 7 minute walk. Before flight, we ordered Biscuits and Gravy, and the Breakfast Sandwich with potatoes. The Biscuits and Gravy was delicious. Biscuits were moist and the gravy was flavorful. The eggs were scrambled perfectly. The Breakfast Sandwich was also delicious. Made with a fried egg and homemade sausage patty on a brioche bun. The perfect meals before takeoff. I'm so happy they opened up inside of PDX. Now I have a reason to get to the airport 2 hours early!

Popped by before a flight recently and had a bite with my family. Tried chicken and waffles & a cocktail. The tequila based drink was strong and unique as it had passion fruit puree. The chicken was really tender but the mini waffles were very hard. The waffles had nice spice in the batter but I wish they'd been more soft. Service team was kind and easy to speak to. Would visit again before a flight!

I found myself suddenly at loose ends with a flight cancelled and awaiting the flight onto which I'd been rescheduled -- and it was lunch time! (ish) Being before midday, the menu was biased towards breakfast. I however was in the mood for lunch. After contemplation, I settled on the fried catfish and fries. The coleslaw side was not going it for me, so I subbed the grits and cheese. My server was beyond delightful. She offered very helpful suggestions on my beverage, and we discussed how difficult it was to make fried catfish. When my meal arrived, I was not disappointed at all . It was exceptional. I grew up in Texas and much of my home cuisine was heavily influenced by the South, and catfish was usually what was served if there was fried fish. This did not disappoint. The catfish was light and flaky, very moist. The corn meal breading was thin and tasty, and the house-made tartar sauce was just the perfect complement. The fries were extra crispy and fresh from the fryer, a delightful combination. And the cheese grits were heavenly - creamy and rich. I savored them throughout the meal. Having eaten frequently at the other two locations, the ambience here was similar to the Pearl location, but in an airport. Very open, very airy, open to the Concourse on two side sides. I am most frequently at the other end of the airport, but anytime I am on the B/C and, and have time for a meal? I will definitely be back!

I used to live in Portland, I lived 2 blocks from the original Screen Door. You usually had to wait 1.5-3 hrs to get chicken and waffle. The fact that you can get it in a few minutes, at PDX? I love nostalgia but you know what? Sometimes I luv the futurrrreeee!

So excited to have screen door pdx open a store in the airport! I love their original location and many times I have time to kill before going to my terminal as im chronically early to My flight. If you have time you won't regret stopping at this delicious Portland classic!

Walked through three terminals to get to this southern soul satellite, and Screen Door did not disappoint. The catfish sandwich was savory, crispy and tender and I was able to sub cheesy grits instead of the standard fries. My server was prompt and friendly. The location, though far from my gate, was clean and well appointed. Hit the spot! The Porch Swing cocktail was delicious as well!

We arrived thirty minutes before closing, which was apparently the exact wrong time to expect a restaurant to be a restaurant. The place was chaos. Counters littered with plates and napkins, people waiting with the expressionless stare of the truly defeated. After locating a few stray seats at the counter like a survivor picking through rubble, we waited ten minutes. No one approached. I asked the server if we should order at the counter or if she'd come to us. She said she'd come over. She never did. Instead, she began a loud one-woman play about the horrors of her job. She hated everything. The shift. The place. The people. All of it. We all heard it. She then made the bravest move I've seen in food service. She simply walked out. Not in a hurry. Just down the escalator and gone. Did she quit? Was it a performance piece? Was she ever real at all? We'll never know. We left without eating. Wasted twenty minutes of our precious, overpriced airport time. Do not go here unless you are writing a novel about despair.

This place is seriously legit. It is the best of southern cooking in the PNW! The food is incredible, service excellent, and the old building is very cool and unique! Highly recommended! You HAVE to try the praline bacon!

Calm breakfast spot in the airport with very high quality breakfast items. The Breakfast Sandwich was so fresh. Sausage was juicy, buns were toasty, and the hashbrowns super crispy. You can tell it's made with attention. The side salad and lemon vinegarette were a refreshing accompany to the decadent and filling sandwich.

Grits, sausage party, over easy and toast!

Only doing 4 stars, as there is room to improve here, but, Alex is wonderful--such a friendly and funny human, and if you need help with the menu or just a second mimosa--he's got you! And also, thank you for the music swap, you know what you're doing. Came in for breakfast before my flight, and decided to make it a little second home for a while. The grits are the move here, cheesy doesn't describe--perfection. Sausage could use some work, and the eggs, but it's the airport, so not making a federal case about it, nice to see more local favorites grace PDX for a taste of home coming or going (though not NW cuisine). The person working the bar, sorry I forgot to jot down a name, brown hair, very attentive and on top of the whole operation (seemed like in-charge) thank you as well! Skip the more obvious places and just come straight here!

Didn't get a chance to make it to their location downtown so I was happy to see them here at the airport. Honestly it was some of the best airport food I have had in a while. The fried chicken and waffle was great. The chicken was well seasoned and nicely crispy without being too much. I also got a side of grits that tasted just like home! Only downside was coleslaw didn't have a ton of flavor. Otherwise, the service was polite and timely. This is a good stop if you're flying out of PDX.

At Screen Door at PDX. Hands down the best chicken and waffles with breakfast gravy. I'm very picky about my chicken and waffles and been to many places. I give five stars plus. Rizzo is a Rockstar.

If you're hoping to check Screen Door off your foodie bucket list quickly, unfortunately the airport location isn't the way to go. As a former Portland local, I can vouch for Screen Door's legendary chicken tenders... they're truly life-changing (especially if you haven't had Southern or Midwest-style fried chicken before!). But after visiting this location a few times over the years, I can say the airport experience doesn't live up to the hype. Here's why: 1. The tenders just aren't the same. The flavor and crispiness don't match the original locations, and the portion sizes are noticeably smaller--yet you're paying the same price. 2. The menu is limited. While they still have the tenders (thankfully!), some of their dishes aren't available here. 3. The place always seems understaffed, and getting seated or even placing an order feels like a challenge even when they're not busy. On my last visit, they had random chairs put up to block seating, and it wasn't close to closing time. On a higher note, the bartender was friendly and once I was directed to her, she got my to-go order in quickly! Screen Door's food is absolutely worth trying, but if it's your first time or you want the full experience, I'd recommend waiting until you're in Portland proper. The airport location just doesn't do it justice!

We decided on outdoor patio seating since the weather was nice & it was generally quieter outside. We were people watching for a bit and noticed that our fellow restaurant goers were waiting for quite a bit, but we weren't in a hurry, so it was fine. When our waiter eventually tended to us, he was incredibly friendly & apologetic, owning up to the delay being on him, but we were cool with it -poor guy was working a double shift. We started off with deep-fried okra, I ordered the fried chicken meal, & hubby ordered the burger. I got to pick the chicken pieces I wanted, so I went with 2 thighs, thinking they'd be smaller pieces, so I could maybe finish my meal. I opted for collard greens as well. The food came relatively quickly and was super-fresh. The fried okra bits were piping hot down to the last bite. They went well with the spicy aioli. We hung onto the aioli so hubby could dip his fries. My meal was so good. The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. The batter was just perfect and crisp. Mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. Gravy was rich and well-seasoned. Collard greens were so tasty. The balance of textures was just perfection. I ended up having to pack up a piece of chicken because it was so much food, but I enjoyed every bite I was able to take of my meal. I appreciated their welcoming vibe & the beautiful pride balloon arch inside the restaurant. I appreciated the friendly service. I appreciated the thoughtfully and expertly made food. It's been around 7 or 8 years since my last visit but I remember the fried chicken sandwiches coming with two thick, juicy, fried boneless thighs. I found it difficult to eat more than half a sandwich given the size and excess meat. Usually I would end up pulling one thigh out and saving it for later! I decided to visit again on a recent weekend trip to Portland, arriving for an early dinner at around 4:30 PM. It was surprisingly busy, with at least a quarter of the seats taken in the shared seating pool even though it was so early in the day. Luckily there wasn't a line to order and the food came out within 15 minutes. Fried Chicken Sandwich ($13) - Just as how I remembered, this sandwich is still huge with two breaded and fried thighs on a bed of lightly dressed, crunchy cole slaw. It's really tall and doesn't compress well due to the abundant crunchy elements throughout. There's the bun that's heavily toasted until extremely, almost aggressively, crisp and almost dark golden brown, absolutely doused in butter a la Texas toast. There are house pickles on the bottom bun, very quickly pickled such that it develops no acidity, but changes to that crunchy yet soggy pickle texture. The two chicken thighs are expertly breaded until full of crags and valleys, seasoned well, and fried until crisp. The crispy quality is of a lighter variety rather than a hard crunch, very delicate as compared to a typical flour based fried chicken dredge. The chicken is different from what I remembered. Instead of being juicy full thighs, almost an inch thick at the meatiest, these patties are thin, sad, like a single thigh butterflied and cut into fourths width-wise. The breading is far thicker than the chicken itself - in fact the chicken almost is an afterthought here, completely getting lost in all the breading and everything else in the sandwich. Seriously, look at some of the photos from other Yelpers taken in 2016 and 2017 and compare to my cross section photo. It's a huge difference. I bet it's a cost cutting measure and it certainly isn't an appreciated change. Maybe it's just a sign of the times - while the 2010s air waves thumped with 'All About That Bass," the thick thighs have now unfortunately been 2020s Ozempic zapped. The major downside of the sandwich is surprisingly the bun. It's by far the most dominant component of the sandwich. It's the crunchiest element and the butter flavor completely overwhelms the taste buds. This is why fried chicken sandwiches are usually served on soft and pillowy buns, or at least buns that are only lightly toasted, so the bread can focus on and cradle the crunch element rather than supersede it. This is the first time that I can recall a sandwich where the bun is the dominant entity. (3/5) Dandan Fries ($10) - These fries are deceptively filling. They're really snackable and give a distinct moreish quality. It's like a snack where I absentmindedly keep reaching in the bag for more and suddenly it's completely empty. The fries combine a somewhat lightly fried potato, a delicate crisp on the outside and an extremely fluffy almost fall-apart tender inside, with a nutty, spicy, and mouth tingly mala sauce. The sauce is thick, rich, filled with fatty goodness. It's actually a really good glue, adhering the crushed peanuts on the fries so well, nothing falls off while lifting the fries out of the bowl. I especially love the mini cornichons mixed into the fries. They add just a bit of sweetness and acidity that balances so well with the fatty dandan inspired sauce. Without them, I think the dish would feel far too rich. With them, the fries go down the gullet at a quick rate. (5/5) I can't help but feel a little disappointed at Basilisk. It's another one of those places that seems to have decided to sacrifice quality in order to keep prices relatively low. While I enjoyed the Dandan Fries, I'm not sure that's enough of a draw to get me to revisit. Bathrooms - Four unisex rooms shared with the other establishments in the building.
