I think this salon is very well run, everything from start to finish was very smooth (from check-in to checkout). I wanted a deep pore cleansing facial and Nadia did just that and performed a great extraction. In addition, every product she used smelled so heavenly. BEWARE!!!! I'm the most un-confrontational person ever but this needs to be said to help anyone even thinking about this place. If I could give a negative stars I would. I walked into this salon as we are new to the area and needed a good self care moment. As I was getting my hair washed the stylist pointed out a birth defect I have on my head by saying "what is that??". I honestly should've just walked out right there but really could use a new look and brushed it off. After talking about what I wanted (layers and a light bangs" she proceeded to give me the choppiest layers and cut my bangs WET leaving them too short and UNEVEN when they dried. As she was blow drying my hair she also left the hairdryer too long in one area and BURNED MY SCALP then proceeded to tell me it was on the lowest setting!! I have never been so upset over a haircut in my life. When mentioning the bangs were too short she proceeded to blame me and say I should've said I wanted them longer when I told her I wanted them at the brow and that I'm having bang remorse (I've had bangs previously for a few years) When I went to check out I mentioned again how they were cut too short and was asked if I could "just put a head band over it" then got two $10 coupons. After reading 5 star reviews of Scruples salon in Glenview, i tried it for a full highlight of my hair. On several counts, I am so disappointed with the experience and results. I was seen by Sonya. She was totally uninformed of the cost of various stages of the highlight. I could immediately tell after toning that my hair was an unattractive color, too dark and brassy. when, I conveyed this there was no offer to fix this. I just visited this salon for the first time to get my eyebrows threaded. I usually only go to another place in the city on Devon but I was waaaasy over due to get my eyebrows done and Scruples was very close to my house. so i took the risk of trying a new place and I'm so glad I did! I had called and spoke to John and he was so nice, he was able to squeeze me in right away. When I arrived a few minutes after, they took me in right away with no wait. I went in needing change but had little direction with what I wanted. I was set up with Marsi. I said I didn't want to just chop it all off. She explained what she would recommend and I went with it. I was happy with the explanations I received and it ended up better than I had hoped! I always get nervous cutting my hair, but I was beyond pleased with the length. I also appreciated Marsi's input, like recommending layers to frame my face and general hair care. Also, the beginning of the process was great. I messaged through Yelp, but was recommended to call. From there, I was able to get in within 2 days. The quickness of responses was great. Additionally, when I vaguely explained what I wanted, the owner was problem solving on who would be best for me. Worst hairstyling I have ever received. I went in for an updo/special occasion. She didn't wash my hair or even brush it. She spent 15 minutes total. All she did was curl my dirty hair. That's it. I don't even know who my stylist was. She kept telling me I needed a hair cut and my hair was so dry. She then asked if I curls stay in my hair. I said no. She responded "Then why did you ask me for curls?" I asked her for VINTAGE CURLS. Showed her a picture. And what I got was completely unacceptable. Something I could have done at home. read more

This place was great. They fit me in for a cut and color with zero notice at 6 p.m. on a Friday. Marsi was super fun to talk to, and got the color I wanted (dark brown with violet) perfect. She also nailed the cut (couple of inches off with layers and side bangs). I got a spontaneous eyebrow wax, only the second time I've ever had one in my life. I was kind of nervous, and she answered all of my questions and we had a good laugh through the process. I highly recommend her if you want to feel like you're hanging out with a talented girlfriend rather than a stranger who just happens to be doing your hair.
