I am so impressed with Scruples Salon and Spa in Northbrook. I had come in from California and wanted to treat my sister in law and me to manis and pedis. We were able to get an appointment for the next day with no problem; thank you John! Margaret and Fay were our manicurists, and were simply wonderful. Fay had a lot of work to do on my soles, and she did so with aplomb. Very gentle touch, and precise pedicure! Margaret did my manicure and it was just as pretty. They were both great representatives for the spa. The nail spa is clean, and has an amazing range of colors from CND and, my personal favorite, OPI. On an aside, can anyone confirm or deny that OPI is going to discontinue Honey Bunny? My hoarding has already started... Scruples is a complete spa with facials, hair and, waxing/threading. I urgently needed a hair appointment during covid, and my boyfriend frequents this salon so he convinced me to give it a try. After reading all the reviews raving about Ben, I decided to book with him for a balayage. He was super patient, very understanding, and he also made some good suggestions for tone. He did take an extra hour after we were done because I thought it was "too blonde", and he gladly fixed it. The products they use are excellent, my hair felt great after going. Ben did an amazing job, even though I left the salon a bit scared of it being too blonde, I ended up loving the result after about a week. I absolutely recommend him and this salon, it's the only one in my 3 years in the USA that has left me super happy and would go back! I purchased a Groupon for a set of full highlights, cut, Moroccan oil deep conditioning treatment, blow dry, and style. The Groupon was $89 total which is a huge discount from the advertised prices at Scruples. They do offer a 15% off discount if you check in on Yelp as well. I had a 4:30pm appointment on a Thursday evening and I ended up leaving around 8:30. To be fair, my stylist was extremely detail oriented and my color is impeccable! I also have fine hair but a lot of it. Marsi was absolutely amazing!! She heard what I was asking for and more than delivered. She did not try to upsell me anything or talk me into expensive products. I went with the B3 bonding offer for the color for $25 and toner for $55. The end result was absolutely beautiful! Thank you Avi! So I am visiting my mom from out of town and I found her in desperate need of a salon visit ASAP. My mom is very shy and is self conscious of her accent and how unfortunately some people have treated her based on that. So, I looked online and found Scruples Salon that was near my moms home. When my mom arrived she was greeted by Avi and taken to his station where my mom shared her concerns and wants for her hair. I could not be happier with the service provided by Marsi the stylist and John the owner's son. Yesterday was my first time at Scruples and the service is beyond what I expected and they have me as a permanent customer :-) Marsi is an artist in the true sense, she is very passionate about her work and truly cares that her client leaves happy. I came in for a cut and highlights and left with a wonderful very current style that was exactly what I wanted and didn't even know it :-) A huge "Thank You" to Marsi and a big shout out to John (the owner's son) who had the foresight to match me up with such a skilled stylist. I had very dark hair and wanted to lighten it up, Marsi took the time to explain the healthy way to approach what my goal was. Slowly lightening with highlights, her approach was meticulous and I am happier with the results. It is always harder to go lighter than darker, particularly with dyed almost black hair. Her approach was the only way to be happy now and later. I will see Marsi back in 2 months for a root touch up (I have stubborn grey's) and maybe to go a little lighter with the highlights gradually. I have been trying to find a good hair stylist for many years. I have gone from one person to another, to another. When I do find someone that's good, they either retire or move to a different state. In other words, I can't seem to win when it comes to getting my haircut. Then, unfortunately I went to a cheaper place to get my hair cut and they did a crap job. I usually go to the Douglas Aveda Institute school in Lakeview (Chicago) for a 90 minute facial (only $60) but wanted to try Scruples since it was a closer drive than going all the way to Lakeview area. I had a 60 minute facial (via Groupon) and will not go again. It was not relaxing at all (even though my facial technician put on music in the room, it did not drown the loud music in the salon's reception area and all the loud talking. The facial seemed rushed (no slow strokes on my face, and a bunch or rubbing). I will not go here again for a facial and will stick to going to the Aveda School.
