The cozy slippers were a nice touch! My massage therapist took the time to ask about my concerns (stiff shoulders and neck) and checked in throughout to make sure the pressure was right. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, dim lighting, peaceful music, and even a heated table. By the end, I sincerely felt so much better. She also showed me a few simple stretches I can do at home, which I really appreciated. Thank you, Laura! I'll definitely be back and am excited to try more of their services. She popped my wrist and loosened it so I left feeling great, just tired and worn out. She stretched my legs and tried to increase my flexibility. Idk what that prior woman was on about in prior reviews because this was not one of those "type of places". It was classy and professional, except for what happened in my first paragraph. Would I go back? Maybe, but there are a bunch of other massage places out there to try. Nothing special or noteworthy to write home about.

EXCEPT that formula is ON MY HEAD!! Atorena was very reassuring and explained that a good colorist can evaluate hair and match color very well or even gradually change it if one feels it needs to. She carefully mixed, saturated my naturally curly hair with color and used a plastic cap to cover the hair. The results were terrific. My grey coverage was even and precise without stains on my face/neck/skin like previous at Northbrook LifeSpa salon. Her rinsing off the color and shampoo/conditioning process was very good to ensure no residual color remains on my scalp!---Lifetime Northbrook salon shampooing is a hit or miss making it impossible to enjoy a blowout without an itchy, color ridden scalp! She also said she will enter color in the computer system. Her blow dry was beautiful. She is very masterful with the Round Brush Technique after I showed a photo of how I like volume and bounce at ends. During her blow-dry, she did not pull my hair and it seemed effortless. I cannot believe how great ALL of the staff were to my staff at Jacobson & Tsou Orthodontics from the Chicago office last weekend. Our bosses treated us to a spa day. In which Lifetime offered us the day to use as a membership pass. We not only had an excellent spa treatment, but we also were able to use their basketball courts, workout area, sauna, pool, etc. We were even given complimentary treats after our Spa treatment. The manager from the Spa, Tayag Nikko, was very polite and accommodating for our needs. He went above and beyond what I expected as a non member for this health club. I truly appreciate every staff member at this location and would like to return someday as a member with my staff, family and friends. WHEN I SAY BALD I MEAN BALDDDDDDDDDDD. i don't think there's a more painful way to go bald then this. let me tell you i walked out that appointment losing minimum 100 strands of my luscious hair out my head that will take years to grow back. i don't know what type of secret recipe bs massage technique they use but they need to keep those techniques a secret if they still want to have a running business. i had a SOFT back massage scheduled but this female with the grip of JOHN CENA started to handle my head like it was made out of metal. i walked out the appointment like i had just got canon blasted into a metal wall incoming head first. it's been more than 24 hours since my appointment and i'm on 1000 mg of ibuprofen. will that do anything to help my head? if you said yes then your wrong! it feels like i have bruises all around my head and it keeps getting worse by the day. i like to use natural remedies to cure pain but ain't nothing natural fixing this. i don't believe in seeing doctors but tomorrow might be the day that i go and see one. i will say ONE nice thing since im not a terrible person... they do a really good job with the back massage JUST as long as they don't touch ur head you will probably have an amazing experience unlike me

I absolutely love the excellent salon services I receive at Scruples. I am always greeted kindly by all the staff and it is a pleasure to visit and see everyone at the salon. It is like a family. The people who work there must love it because they have all been there since the day I first went in. I think that tells you something. On my very first visit, I used a gift certificate my sister gave me for my birthday. When there I asked the nail technician who could possibly cut my hair IF I wanted it cut. She walked me over to the stylist Sean because she said he was really good. He bravely said he would love to cut and color my hair if I came back the next day (trust me, he was brave. I had not had a hair cut in years and been coloring myself. My hair was and is always clean, but that is about all I could say about it!). I felt so great to get my hair "styled"! Me! After I had the new hair cut, which was so beautiful because of him, I felt terrific. My coworkers could not believe I finally got my hair done. One other gal at work also had gotten a very high-end hair cut on Michigan Ave. in Chicago that same week, but everyone quietly told me how much cuter mine looked. It really did. I love Scruples, Sean, and all the people that make it a fun place to visit. I go regularly now and I have always been happy. I peek at the other people leaving with their new style and they always look so nice as well. I highly recommend Scruples! read more

This salon is truly amazing. You get superior services at affordable prices. The owners are extremely kind and genuine and offer great packages to their clients even if it were your first visit. But more importantly they are extremely professional. I have been going there for months and l have never left the salon dissatisfied. I always leave extremely happy and content. I had been struggling with my thick and curly hair for years but thanks to Scruples, this has become a thing of the past. My life would have been much easier had I met them earlier. Another thing I love about Scruples is their cleanliness. It was really comforting when I incidentally happened to witness how they clean after pedicure. This to me is an extremely important factor. Now regarding the employees, Barb has been managing my hair for months. She really does a great job with my extremely difficult hair. On top of her superb skills, she's truly caring, honest and funny. I love her. Kate has cut and flat ironed my hair during my last visit. She was also amazing because my hair looked great. Additionally, Ester has been does my nails and she's really great at what she does. Eva has also done my nails once too and they looked great. If I could give 100 stars I would. As someone who knows exactly what they like and are looking for, I have found my salon heaven. Driving from the northwest side of the city (definitely a nice little drive -45 min depending on traffic) will forever be worth it!!!!! First of all, there's a parking lot!!!! Again, being from the city = nightmarish parking situations just to subject myself to the pains of beauty upkeep. Upon walking into Scruples, beautiful decor! Kristina was waiting for me. She. Was. Perfect. If you can laugh during a Brazilian with your esthecnician then you're already golden. I'm a germaphobe so not only was the room clean but the tools and Kristina. Automatically, I'm coming back. She also did my manicure wonderfully. The service was perfect but she was even greater. Loved our genuine conversations. And it wasn't that forced salon talk. Ninos! Wonderful. Amazing! Intuitive. He genuinely wanted to love my hair! And he did. I am traumatized by almost every other stylist I have ever had but I completely let him work his magic. The people in this place had me walking out absolutely gushing. Down to John! I will be back I will be back and would recommend these two beautiful people all day every day. Here is my experience at Scruples. It was an amazing experience and you guys should NOT take down my post. Thank You: I'm not sure why my review was deleted but I will re-write it: From the moment I called to book the appointment, I just had a feeling this was going to be a great experience. The receptionist was really nice and friendly - energetic and enthusiastic. I got a facial and a hair color and cut. My facial was the best! I've had facials all over the world - in Europe and in the best spas in L.A. but this facial beat everyone. The room had a relaxing aroma touch. My facialist was very professional, clean, and filled with knowledge. I felt and looked amazing when she was done. My hair experience here was phenomenal. They use the hair color line Goldwell - it's a European line and it is the only one that lasts for up to 5 weeks. My haircut was very stylist (up-to-date) trend. I just moved to the area and now I have a salon and spa to go to all the time! You guys are amazing. Keep up the great work. I don't think I'll ever need to visit another salon other than Scruples GLENVIEW ever again. They have my business for life! Let me start with this; I've had many, many people cut and color my hair in the past. My last salon visit (almost 4 years ago) ended in tears and 6" of my hair gone, due to the stylist doing whatever she wanted; ignoring what I had asked for. I have since learned little things to do my hair on my own. But through some gentle coaxing, John set me up with the sweetest stylist, Rami. He was attentive, gentle, and open to work with me on the length and style I wanted. I also had a Keratin treatment for the first time and I'm now a convert. Start to finish, Rami was checking in with me and there was no question I was leaving until I was 100% happy. Very rarely these days do you find stylists/artists that are absolutely with you every step of the way. He worked quickly and very precisely. They have multiple signs on the front doors and in the front lobby mandating masks and social distancing, which I appreciated greatly. 10/10 would recommend to family and friends! read more

WoW this place had me at aww. I got referred to this place by a friend who had amazing highlights and a haircut. So I decided to try them out. I've been going to the same place for 15 years, so I was really nervous to try a new place out. After my experiece here - I will never go anywhere else. The highlights turned out gorgeous! I also had my eyebrows threaded for the first time. They offered to give me a complimentary eyebrow threading, so I took advantage of it. It's just like waxing, but the shape comes out 10X better! After I checked out, the owner gave me coupons to use for next time. I would highly recommend Sean for hair. Like I said before I was really nervous to try a different place, but I was won over. The atmosphere was really nice and relaxing. The owner - John was super friendly and it looks like he goes out of the way to take care of the clients in the salon. The last time I trusted a hairdresser to color my hair was 9 years ago, until I found Scruples Salon which was highly recommended by my cousin -- specifically with Ben. So I made an appointment with Ben and my hair have never been more alive. Ben is topnotch one of the best hairstylists I've ever met. He works with your hair very detailed and meticulously. I showed photos to ben although I was kinda indecisive with the hair color I wanted, Ben helped me decide and he really worked patiently with me. Voila! Ben pulled off the exact hair color I wanted this summer. He listens and he is such a creative stylist. He then gave me a superb-full volume blow dry. Oh, we also joke around in between I had such an amazing time at the Scruples. I was very pleased with my 4 hours experience with Ben. Thanks Ben!!! The staffs are friendly. Amazing service and people at Scruples!!! They were able to squeeze me in very last minute and were incredibly welcoming. Upon my arrival in their parking lot (yes, there is a lot of a parking space), I realized I had forgotten my wallet at home! I attempted to cancel my appointment, but the owner, Johnny, was kind enough to allow me to complete my service today regardless of my current circumstance- he managed to work out the payment method for my service with me and left me worry-free. They put their clients first at Scruples. This is definitely my new waxing center! Fay, the waxer, did an amazing job cleaning up hair growth in my intimate area and getting me to my smoothest. She was patient and knowledgeable, and she gives great advice on how to maintain the area!!! She worked quickly and efficiently. Book an appointment with Fay, she is awesome! I'm so happy to be able to write a good review. I must admit, I am a picky customer - and a busy one too. I get my hair and nails done here. I've never had any other treatment. The ladies I see (Hanan and Mona) for my nails do a fabulous job! My no chips are always wonderful but even if I get a regular mani, it lasts. I usually just get simple trims for my hair so there's not much to review regarding that. I don't remember the man's name who most recently trimmed my hair but I love the way he dried it! The prices are on par with any other salon. Oftentimes they're even a bit cheaper because they're generous with the coupons. I am always greeted by name, offered tea or water, thanked for my service, etc. I get the feel that this is the type of place that goes out of their way to service their guests. I really can't imagine anyone having something bad to say about this place. They've always been good to me and I enjoy supporting a local business. read more

I have decided to go back to blonde hair after having different shades of red for years so I contacted the salon to schedule a consultation since I knew this would not be an easy transition. The entire process was thoroughly explained to me in detail along with all the costs associated with the service. I was very impressed by my stylist, Avi who took the time to explain all the necessary steps and what results to expect. He spent over an hour with me before booking the appointment presenting several shades to consider to avoid stripping the red out, thus further damaging my hair. We discussed the realistic results to expect after we did a test strand so there wouldn't be any surprises. He was extremely knowledgeable and an expert in coloring. I just started going to Scruples a few months ago, deciding to give the salon a try after receiving many recommendations from the girls working at Toucan Tan next door. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the customer service is at Scruples. Everyone greets you with a smile and you really do feel very welcomed upon walking into the salon. I have had an up-do, haircut, highlights, and eye threading done at Scruples, and I have been very satisfied with all of their services. This salon is definitely worth checking out! I recommend Sean, whose work really reflects his passion for his career. I can only say really great things about Scruples from my past experiences. This is the first time that I ever leave a review, but I feel like people need to be aware of this place and avoid it at all cost. I visited this salon last Saturday after doing some online research to get my blonde highlights. This was the most costly mistake that I have EVER made in my life!!! The hairstylist Sonia not only damaged my blonde hair but also did not do what I asked her to do. She put a toner on my hair and did not even leave it for 5 minutes, but charged me $40 for it. The roots were not covered and the end result was terrible! I spent over $170 for the service and left the place in a complete mess! Yesterday I visited another salon to fix my hair and the stylist said that she has never seen a worse job in her career, and that this place should have a suspended license for the damage that they caused to my hair!!!! People please be aware and avoid this place at all cost!!!! read more

My boyfriend and I got services done here. I got the Brazilian bikini wax. He had his hair dyed from natural black to bright pink. The Waxing: I don't remember the woman's name but she was extremely informative and gentle. It was my first time ever getting a bikini wax and she prepared me and told me exactly what to expect. Wasn't that painful at all! (Edit: i think her name was Nadia. Please correct me if I am wrong! ) The hair cut/dye: His hair was about chin length and his natural hair color, black. Anna was the one who did his hair I believe and she only bleached it twice and it actually lightened! The color came out very pink (though a little orangish in front) as for the cut, his hair is very straight so it tends to stick straight out when cut short. But she made it work. Before yesterday I had only been here for haircuts (done very nicely by Rami). I can now attest to the great talent of Margaret, who gave me a wonderful pedicure and manicure. Even though my appointment was at the end of her work day, she took her time and did a great job. She does very detailed and meticulous work and also gave my feet and calves a relaxing massage. The manicure room is small and quiet and very clean. In the past, when I try a new nail salon, it has always been a multi-visit process to get things "just right"- the right massage pressure, the right attention to cuticles, the right fragrances, the right water temp....you get the idea! Such a nice salon that treats customers like they matter. From the moment I walked in I was offered green tea (what an amazing choice of beverage for a salon and spa). I had a gift certificate for a one hour massage and one hour facial. They upgraded both for me at no additional cost. I had the multi-vitamin facial and a deep tissue massage. BEST EVER!!! I had the greatest facial treatment. The esthetician was very professional and her appearance was top notch! Her facial was amazing. Very relaxing and one of the best I have ever received. I don't know why Yelp is constantly deleting my reviews... Please don't delete I love Scruples! Great salon: I had a great haircut. My stylist did exactly what I wanted. She did not push products at me and even recommended that I don't get too many products at once. She was honest as far as letting me know that I did not need to get hightlights right away, when usually stylist will tell you that just to make a buck. Great atmosphere. This was a fantastic experience for both myself and my 16 year old daughter. You know it can be a challenge to make a 16 year old light-up. Well it's 2 hours later and all she has done is Skype and text everyone showing off her new do. She had a haircut and color while I had an exhilarating massage. The stylist sat down with her and they created a color just for her. The entire staff were very friendly, patient and considerate. The fact that I called about 2:30 and they scheduled us for 6:00 the same day! One of the reasons I selected Scruples was the fact that they are open later than any others I researched. As we were checking out the owner mentioned that they had stayed until 11:30 the night before for a customer. Thank you to everyone at Scruples. I made a desperate call in need of same day hair coloring . I called and got an appt with Fred , he picked a great color to cover my grays. i also got a great head massage and conditioning treatment , a haircut, and a blow-dry. John at the front desk , who is the owners son, was so knowledgeable and nice. He also told me about a manicure special for only $10, that they were offering while your hair is processing. Yes please !! Fred did not try to sell me more services, but in fact told me to wait on the highlights i was considering. The hair color itself did not irritate my scalp at all . in the past i have had issues with a burning scalp, even in a aveda salon. the manicurist was very friendly and she didn't mind fitting me in on short notice either. I came here for a cut and blowout before a family event and had such a lovely experience. The space is warm and welcoming, and everyone I interacted with was kind and professional. The stylist listened closely to what I wanted, offered a few helpful suggestions without being pushy, and the end result turned out exactly how I hoped -- clean, smooth, and flattering. My only small note was that the front desk area felt a little hectic when I arrived. There was some confusion about my appointment time, but they got it sorted quickly and were very apologetic. It didn't throw off the day at all, just something I noticed. Overall though, it's a great local spot. I left feeling refreshed, and I'd absolutely come back again -- especially for special occasions or when I want something a little more polished than my usual routine. read more

WE DROVE OVER 28 MILES TO TRY THIS PLACE OUT! My niece recommended it to me. I was there last week with my 17 year old daughter. Rami did such an amazing job on her highlights! She showed him a picture, and the color came out even nicer than the picture! It gave her a whole new image! She was so in love with her hair! I'm so grateful for him! She also got her eye brows threaded and Margaret was so patient with her! Priceless. Rami also cut and styled my hair perfectly! I showed him a picture and asked him to layer my hair like the picture. My hair looks absolutely fabulous! I've been getting compliments all week, and for sure I look at least 5 years younger! First I want to say that this is probably my 4th visit here for a haircut & blowout and they are…read moreusually pretty good, at least 4 stars but this visit was bad My bangs were cut so so short and badly that it looks like I did it myself and messed it up completely. I specifically asked for my bangs to be below my eyebrows and she made a rookie mistake of cutting it at my eyebrows when wet. Anyone with bangs know that once dry, it gets a bit shorter. plus she didn't cut it evenly or symmetrically. In the attached pictures, one is a picture of the bangs I showed the stylist (of the bangs I wanted), the one that looks very short is the bangs I left with right after (she styled it with a round brush and dryer), and the third one is the next day after I washed my hair and combed it down- you can see it's not even straight or symmetrical.. thankfully this will grow out in about 3-4 weeks but it's devastating with the holiday season, Christmas is in a few days and New Years next week with lots celebrations and my hair will look like I cut and messed up my own bangs. the rest of my hair was decently cut - though when looking at it, it's hard for the eyes not to go to the bangs that were so obviously messed up. I would have been understanding if they told me they gave me a junior or student stylist and I wish she would have just told me she isn't comfortable cutting bangs as it would have been better if she just left it alone.

If I would've known upfront about the curls, I could at least decide myself if I wanted to pay that much or not. I appreciate not charging me the full amount but I'm sure I still paid $100 for a 5 year olds haircut. I didn't say anything at the time but I'm sure the look on my face was shocked. I paid without any fuss but next time I will definitely have to keep this in mind if I decide to visit the salon again.

I spent 3 hours here just for a pedicure and manicure. I never judge a book by its cover I decided to give this place an opportunity despite the fact that they only had a small selection of dip powder. I understand completely the shop recently opened up. But do not display products if you do NOT have it at your location: That is false advertisement. I fell victim to the owner who was very polite however had no idea what she was doing with my nails she should just specialize in hair care instead of nails. Firstly; usually when I get a pedicure it consists of a massage,& a foot callus remover. She scrubbed my feet for less than 30 seconds, I still have callus on my feet. Second: The manicure was the most dreadful. I asked for a dip manicure coffin shape, and had picked out a green which I realized after didn't look like the display, so we switched over to white. She gave me egg shaped lemon soup nails and was extremely rough to my skin to the point my cuticles themselves were breaking off( I wish she put that energy into the callus off my feet) she even pointed it out that my skin was breaking from her roughness!!! When I asked her to just do 2 layers of dip powder because I didn't want them to appear thick she kept insisting to put on 3, and blamed the layer of powder as a result in why she couldn't shape my nails to coffin but rather an egg. It felt more like a surgical procedure than a relaxing spa. I hope this business thrives and the owner gets more clientele so she can gain more experience in nails.

She also kept checking in throughout the manicure to make sure it was going the way I hoped (shape, length, thickness, color). All of the tools are clean and she kept sanitizing the tools and my skin before any contact, which is unfortunately hard to see these days at other salons. The manicure did start to lift near the cuticles around the 3-week mark (usually I easily go over 4 weeks without lifting at my other salon). Parking can look a little tricky but there is some street parking right in front of the spa. Still, I would come back to see her because it's nice to finally find a nail tech who isn't in a huge rush!

I wanted to look natural and the lady used air brush, but I could see the pores on my skin and makeup didn't last longer. I hated pink eye shadow. Maybe it's not about the color, but my eye makeup looked something wrong. Well, I needed to instruct how I want to look preciously, so it's maybe part of my fault... But anyway, I looked very old, so I wasn't happy for makeup. On the photo shoot, I looked like tired, not enough sleep or had cry before. I requested to curl my hair and it turned out gorgeous! I loved it! That was the good part! At the cashier, I showed the voucher I purchased on yelp ($30 for $50), then I paid remaining balance which was $70!!! Seriously? It was $120 in total for hair & makeup. I'm not talking about bridal event. I didn't even get bridal look!! The cashier lady told me it's $55 for hair curling (even if it's stated $45 on website. Was my hair too much?) and $65 for air brush make up. Just curling costs higher than cut & style and air brush makeup costs higher than bridal makeup. How could this happen... If it's worth it, willing to pay, but not happy at all. Well again it maybe my fault. I regret not asking the price over the phone when I made an appointment. I would respect and rely on the professional who takes care of the customers knowing what they want regarding with photo shoot and she should tell the price beforehand. There is no hospitality and welcoming either. Store is very clean, but no music. Very quiet and peace. Decor wasn't my taste at all, but it's ok. They opened early 8:30am for me, so I appreciated that part. I think this place is only for local people who made bounds to the staffs here for long time. I will not be coming back again.
