We have SDI install batt at both ceiling, exterior walls and interior walls at my new construction. Joe who came out for estimates was courteous and patient, and they were also able to schedule me for the timeframe that I requested. However two things happened that made the road a little bumpy. On the day of work, one crew was here and from the beginning he told me he doesn't bring enough materials for the interior wall and I told him to do the important area first. When I got home after work he is already gone and the first thing I saw when walking in the house is a wall that was half insulated and the other half wide open with stud. I called about it and was told they will call me right back but nothing happened till I called again the next day to inquire. The explanation I got for them not calling me back was that it was not part of the inspection. But I told them despite that it was still part of the work in scope which I requested so they still needed to finish, without hesitation they said they will send crew back to finish it, which is good. I wish I didn't have to reach out about it though for them to come back to finish the job. Another incident was that they were not following the expected procedure (using baffle to create space for venting, see http://homeguides.sfgate.com/important-using-baffles-attic-insulation-78043.html) for insulating at the eyebrow vent, even after both me and my contractor requested them to do it, the crew said they don't do it that way. When the crew came back again to finish the incomplete work, we brought it up again and they folded some leftover card board that we had to create the needed effect -- oh well, it is fine and we didn't make a fuss about it. But without we requested or expected, Joe came by two mornings later to drop off some baffle! Really a gesture and remediation that we appreciate and applaud. So overall even with some bump, things eventually worked out well. So four stars from me. Their office staff was also courteous and professional in terms of handling payments. We used SDI to have new insulation put into our attic in an effort to try to help with the massive temperature swings in our house. Dennis gave us a great price and seemed very on top of things. While we had a minor miscommunication about our appointment time, Dennis was very apologetic for the mix-up and the guys who came to install the insulation were great. Very efficient and neat. We noticed a significant difference in the temperature of our house the day they installed the insulation - it was not nearly as cold and it was even throughout the house. What a great change. SDI was introduced to us as a trusted vendor within the contractor community. We are homeowners, and in our case, came to the need for spray insulation to seal an attic from rodents. Matt Cilia was our SDI rep and really shined - we had a very short time window given the rodent issue and he built up a quote, worked the schedule, and helped us address health and safety topics associated with the spray insulation. As we opted to wanted a longer ventilation period, he arranged the loan of an industrial fan. The team that did the job was clean and professional treating our home and even driveway with care from foam staining. We have a great new storage attic now where the temperatures as well as lighting are much improved. The double duty of the foam to manage the rodents is giving us the first quiet nights in years. The other vendor suggested finally called back a week after SDI finished the job, so we know we made a good pick. We had our 80+ year old home insulated top to bottom. We could sure feel the difference during the summer hot days. SDI treated us like royalty! They blew in fiberglass insulation on top of our attic batts, plus walls and underfloor. We qualified for PGE's rebate, which was substantial! Steve the owner is super-friendly and conscientious. After they were filled, our outside walls were patched and textured, so you can't tell there were any holes made in them. The workers were fast and left everything clean to our satisfaction. SDI Insulation recently installed a combination of batts and cellulose spray installation and I couldn't happier with the results. Francisco Garcia was my initial contact person and preformed the estimate. We had to make several changes to the order because I'm currently remodeling the house and some walls were exposed and others partial exposed so the order changed and my request kept evolving. But Francisco kept in constant contact and worked with me via email, phone calls, and pictures to generate me a proper quote. I also had to reschedule several times due to the permitting process/delays in constructions and Alfred 'the master schedular' was more than accommodating. When the team arrived they did a great job and keep things mostly clean. There were a couple minor accidents where the sprayed-in installation leaked from one area but they took care of it. I passed my insulation requirement for my job card without a glitch. If you ever want your home insulated in a professional manner I would definitely use SDI. read more

I was looking for a small job on an old beaten up shed, and most places won't do a foam insulation job for under 2K. But SDI came out and gave me a bid that was below their minimum price on a job! They also fit us in in our time frame, as we were trying to get it done sooner than later. The workers did an excellent and thorough job, even exceeding what was asked. They didn't skimp on the insulation, but even did a bit more than was asked in some places. They also prepped the job and then shaved the excess foam when they were finished. My house is range style single floor. We want to add spray foam wall insulation from the outside. We called SDI for an estimate (no charge) and the quote is quite competitive. SDI team promptly scheduled the insulation work. The work took about a morning. When the team started the work, they noticed some of my wall already has insulation. They promptly checked the wall and only did the work (and charge) for walls that have no insulation. Overall we are pleased with the cost and the work. read more

Great experience, not sure why I waited so long to call these folks. I live in an a late 1950s home that had no insulation other than a couple of inches in the attic. Winters have been extremely cold and turning on the heater was a waste of $$$ as it seemed to leave the house just as quick as it entered. We were also experiencing light surface mold and condensation on the inside of the northern facing walls that needed to be wiped down every couple of weeks during the winters. We took bids for the insulation project over the summer and decided to go with SDI. SDI created a plan for us that included insulation of the exterior walls first (as they had none), bringing the attic up to code and eventually considering the crawl space under the house. The consultants were great, answered MANY questions, worked with us on project timing and provided an extremely fair price. Workers arrived on schedule each day, cleaned up after themselves each day and explained their tasks thoroughly so I understood what was happening. We've decided to hold off on the craw space at the recommendation of the consultant who advised that we should measure the success of the walls and attic over the winter then determine if the floors were still needed. I very much appreciate the phased approach which saved us a few bucks and showed us that the consultant was very much in tune with our budget and maximizing ROI. As of now, January, the results we are seeing in our heating expenses have dropped considerably compared to last year. We are so pleased with these first two phases our insulation project. Our house is comfortable, retaining heat and the mold/condensation has not returned! I had SDI insulation install a fireplace for me two years ago. Ivan was my contact and he was great. Very professional and extremely helpful even when we had some issues that needed to be worked out. The fireplace is awesome and working great. Recently, I reached back to him for help with removing the glass. He was great, sent someone over to help me and he too was great. Working with SDI was a pleasant experience; from meeting with the estimator to meeting the crew that did the insulation work. The day of the installation the crew was sharp on time as scheduled. They were professional and impeccable in their work. All three technicians were very friendly and made the whole process to be a positive one. The house was left immaculate before they left. They were attentive to my questions and requests and eager to help. The same can be said of the office staff. I have called a couple of times with questions regarding billing and information on the rebates and received the information requested. The staff was friendly and professional. After a few days of experiencing our home with new insulation, we have noticed what we were hoping to achieve with additional insulation. The second floor is much warmer compared to what we have been experiencing before the insulation was applied to exterior walls and attic; we also have noticed that it is quieter in the second floor, much quieter. The bathroom is no longer an ice box! The addition of insulation in the first floor, ceiling and walls, have had a moderating effect on the temperatures as well as the acoustic properties that we were hoping for. I am sure the attic insulation applied is complementing the positive effects. Your company obviously knows insulation and they know how to treat their customer's right. We had SDI add insulation to our home in October 2015. Not only were they reasonably priced, they did an excellent job in all respects. We we noticed a problem, they immediately addressed it and corrected the problem. They also identified a safety issue unrelated to the insulation and give us recommendations on how to correct it. SDI is consistent, I'll tell you that much. I got my solar panels through them and after completely forgetting about me, they finally stepped up. I also arranged to get my fireplace from them (fool me once-shame on you, fool me twice-shame on me!) I started this process in December. It is now August. Part of the delay was my fault-but as of May all prep work was completed by me. The fireplace was measured yet again and a new, more expensive insert was charged to me. I was told it would take a month for the insert to arrive. A month came and went. No word. I called. I was told it would be looked into and I could expect a call the next morning. The next morning, in fact, the next whole day came and went-no phone call. I called again. 'Oh, the day got away. I'll let you know.' The insert was supposed to arrive today. I waited all day-no phone call, no word, nothing. I chose SDI because they are a Diamond Certified Company. I think I may be certifiable- to use them twice and receive the same poor service each time. read more

Very responsive when I called to request a bid. Morgan showed up on time and was very thorough and knowledgeable. . I got their bid in a timely manner and Morgan quickly responded to my questions. I had these folks install insulation in my attic. They insulated two skylight chases and about 100 ft of copper pipe and sealed 20 recessed lights. Once that was done they blew in enough insulation to raise the R level of attic insulation from about 19 to over 38. I was very satisfied with the cost of the work compared to competitors. The quantity of attic insulation was more than I expected and I was happy with the quality of the final product. On the negative side though 1) the two insulation installers showed up about an hour late and did not call to advise they would be late. They did come from Burlingame and hit a lot of traffic. 2) When they arrived they did not have a ladder to access the attic. I let them use my ladder. 3) I told the lead installer to take special care to not step on the gas line in the attic before they started work. After about an hr of work the second installer accidently stepped on the gas line and cracked a fitting. The part of the line he stepped on was cantilevered over a joist and not supported well. Of course this shut the job down and I turned the gas off. The good news is that the lead installer was able to get a plumbing contractor to come and fix the pipe and support it properly. By now though it was after noon and the installers had to work in a very hot attic. They did the work though and got the job done. read more
