Food is way over rated, 4 dishes. so we got the chicken salad which was really really bland, the sloppy Joe which was decent but let's call it what it is... a pulled pork sandwich, the Cuban left a lot to be desired, and also got a special Mac Daddy which had man n cheese on a chicken sandwich... the Mac n cheese was horrible had no flavor and the sauce didn't stick noodles because it was so watery. My husband and I have been wanting to try Se7en Bites after seeing them on the Food Network several times and reading countless rave reviews on Yelp. This stand-alone establishment usually has a line out the door - and the wait is worth it with so many homemade delectables such as chicken pot pies, pastries, sandwiches and more! The staff are great - laid back, friendly and welcoming and the decor is clean with a modern farm-table vibe. My husband and I truly had to refrain from ordering one of everything on the menu, but settled on a ham biscuit, Minnie Pearl (think chicken and waffles in sandwich form), mac and cheese and hash brown casserole. And of course, we got a bag of bakery treats to go! Our breakfast items were filling and delicious! The ham biscuit was a homemade garlic biscuit (that tastes good on its own) with ham, egg and pimento cheese - so, so good! My husband had the Minnie Pearl and it was equally drool-worthy with they're "almost famous" fried chicken sandwiched between two waffles (and of course yummy sauces and flavorings on everything). The sides were equally as delicious and could honestly hold their own if you just wanted to eat them separately. The food was amazing, and it came out quickly. My wife got the chicken and waffles, and I got the breakfast smash-up. You order at a counter and they push you to tip based on "we are full service. We bring everything to you throughout the meal." I tipped 20%% We received our food and water quickly, but then no follow-up service. The last 10 minutes of our meal = no water refills. The most sad part of where I currently live is I'm no longer 5-7 (get it) minutes from here! My wife and I were slow to go here as we sometimes do miss a lot of the places that are right next to us. Once we finally went, I was underwhelmed with myself, for not going sooner! The place had nice music to start, which had me almost dancing in (but my wife wouldn't be ok with this overt display). Next thing I realized was, there may be a mistake, there are just enough tables for us and the people who are coming in at the same time! Quickly, I went and grabbed the larger table (as I'm a larger guy) (I'm joking the tables were the same size). I'm a biscuit guy, and... I'm always afraid of slap your *won't say* dry. I have been to this restaurant multiple times and have consistently had positive experiences with the friendly and attentive staff. Weekends tend to be very busy, so expect a wait. If you choose outdoor seating, you will likely be seated more quickly. The line usually forms for indoor seating, which is what I opted for this time due to the heat. When we sat down it was very loud inside or at least this time that I went. My friend and I had trouble hearing each other at first but we just started speaking louder so we could hear each other. One of the reasons I like coming here is so I can come with my doggie, you are allowed to bring them along with you when sitting outside. I love that when I come with my doggie, they bring out a bowl of water for him which is nice and thoughtful of them. When you enter, you'll order at the counter and then find a table. There's also a separate section for bakery items. On this visit, I had the 7th Trimester and a cold brew. I usually stick with the 7th Trimester because I love their mac and cheese. The food is tasty, but I find the restaurant a bit overhyped. The biscuits were a bit dry and most of the food arrived at room temperature--only the egg was warm. Despite this, everything still tasted good. I'm unsure if this issue was unique to this visit or a recurring problem, as I don't remember the food temperature from previous visits. I'll start of by saying I have been a long time supporter of se7en bites and have visited more times than I can count. I remember when it was a small, from scratch startup and before the tv shows. This last visit, however, was not up to par. My wife and I along with my son arrived a little after 9am. No line. Walked up and placed an order. When I made my order I noticed the entree stated eggs over medium. I asked the cashier to please cook my eggs all the way through so they are completely done. He acknowledged. We sit down and my wife asks why is there a 75 cents surcharge for a pot pie to go order we placed. I go up to the register and am told that's just how we do our to go orders. I finally speak to a manager and he tells me it's to offset the cost of the to go utensils, bags and such. Strike 1. How are you telling me you need to charge extra for takeout items when the cost of me sitting down and patronizing your restaurant costs you a hell of a lot more. Labor, overhead, etc.. No worries. They make me whole by taking the charge off and refunding my money. Next we get our food and my eggs are not cooked all the way through. It's slightly runny eggs. Strike 2 I go back up to the counter and another lady addresses my concern and says get can fix the eggs. I tell her it's also now running on the biscuit. She has the gall to challenge me and says well the eggs are cooked over hard. Google and myself disagree. "Eggs over hard" means fried eggs that have been cooked on both sides, with the yolks cooked until they are firm and no longer runny. Then she asks if I would like the whole meal re-made. I say yes. I then get my "re-made" food in 3 minutes. Now I look at the plate and everything is good...except now I have raw bacon. Strike 3 At this point I'm done. I push the bacon to the side and eat the rest. I then ask for a box to take the rest of my wife and sons food home. You get to get THOSE BOXES for FREE apparently. Life hack for anyone going here. If you are going to sit down and eat here, but want to order something to go just order everything to the table and ask for the FREE BOXES they give you that they other wise charge you for if you ask for it to go. This place has really gone down hill fast from what I remember in past visits. Rude management, sub par food, lack of understanding of food preparation. Last point on the food the breading from the chicken completely falls off the chicken and the biscuits fall apart into crumbs when trying to split them. I'm really not a person that reviews a lot unless the experience just totally underwhelmed me. I won't be revisiting here ever again and it's been totally crossed of my recommendation list for family, friends and visitors. read more

This is such a fun and trendy spot for breakfast/brunch lovers! I feel like this is normally a 5 star place, but I happened to hit it on an off 3 star day so I'm gonna split the difference and go 4 stars. A friend and I were looking for lunch after a long morning of running around town shopping. I was excited to take her since she'd never been and she'd heard all the hype. The line outside the door can look a little daunting, but it moves pretty quickly and it's just to keep the crowds from forming while ordering at the counter. It was so hard to decide what to get that I ended up ordering the Croque Ma'am special as well as a chicken pot pie and quiche to go. They're known for the chicken pot pie and the quiche carbonara sounded delicious so I figured I'd load up and take them home being items that reheat well. I also couldn't pass up the baked goods and bought an assortment of those. They must make a killing because I can imagine most people doing the same as me. It's so hard not to just to point and say "I'll have one of those, and one of those, and one of those" till next thing you'd spent another $40 just on baked goods. LOL The Croque Ma'am was what I ordered to eat there, while the others were all to go. The Croque Ma'am was delicious. No complaints there. The disappointment came later when I heated up the chicken pot pie, which as a reminder is supposed to be their signature item. It was even featured on Triple D. I heated it up in the oven that same day for dinner and it was so incredibly dry. I can see why it's a signature item in that the flavors were really great, but the chicken chunks were tough and dry, while there was zero moisture at all. The desserts I brought home included the bacon bourbon bar thing that is a signature item. Mr S. was not impressed at all. The lemon hand pie was also on the dry side. The Charlie Brown whoopie pie type thing was enjoyed by my daughter, and I also loved the blueberry basil bread pudding. So 2 for 2 on desserts wasn't too bad. I did enjoy the quiche as warming it up for breakfast the next morning. It was probably the best item we had. What I take away from that experience is that you should dine in for sure and not count on the food being too great if you take it home for later. I will definitely be back though! read more

They make a pecan roll and an apple roll. It was at the insistence of the server that I did apple and it was one of the last few remaining at 11:30am this morning so I figured its popularity spoke for itself. Now let me tell you, this thing weighs about a pound and is a DREAM! It's going in the books as one my most memorable desserts and I am a dessert lover. I'd skip a meal in favor of the sweet stuff. Best way to describe this franchise is astonishing. For starters, there were no parking places in their lot and we had to drive around a couple times to find nearby spots. Wait time was about 20 minutes for us , but went by pretty quickly. When you arrive, you order in the front and then sit down wherever they have open seating. This is about the third time we've been to Se7en Bites in the Milk District. There's a dedicated parking lot and we've always been able to find a spot but be careful not to park in other businesses lots nearby. The only thing not great about this restaurant is that it is walk up only and if there isn't any room inside, you need to wait in line outside until space opens up. The door person is always very friendly and has menus available but since it has been so hot this summer, it was hard standing out there for 20 minutes waiting to get in. The staff did provide water, though. Once inside, you are good to go and can order at the counter and then sit wherever you want and staff will bring you your food. The food is always great and there's always too much of it. I got the Quiche of the day, which was steak, potatoes and cheddar and it was different than I expected. The quiche was in the middle surrounded by a square of flaky puff pastry. It came with spring greens mixed with balsamic, very nice. First timer to Seven Bites. It's been featured on Guy's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. There was already a line at 10a and they open at 9a but it went fast and they have a wonderful system to keep the line moving. The table order (2) 7 Platters and a 3 Little Pigs. Good out quick and hot. The biscuit had a nice crunch in the outside and soft and flaky inside. The sausage gravy was the best I've had in a long time and the eggs cooked to order. My grits was a little more grainy than I like but I'm a Southerner and hard to impress on grits. Still good just not my preference. The server Alvin (like the Chipmunk as he said) was excellent!!!! He served all the guest on the outside with kindness, care and attention. Give that man a raise! I haven't customer service like that in a long time. First off this was not where we were supposed to go but EXACTLY where we were supposed to be! When we arrived there was a line to get in and I was a little nervous but it moved so fast! You walk in and it's a gem of a place. It's open seating and you order your food and they bring it to your table so it's busy but highly efficient! The food was well seasoned and great portions. My husband had the cinnamon waffle and the apples were tender and well seasoned. I had a little bit of everything with the fried green tomatoes. The grits were savory and well seasoned as they were garlic chive I believe...either way it was delicious! Our son had the pancakes and dug into them before I could get a picture. It came with their vanilla syrup and honey butter (YUMMY). They offer a bakery and they have some amazing sweets and drinks to choose from. I purchased the chocolate cake, which my son devoured. I couldn't even wait to leave to write this as I'm sitting on the back patio area. I am absolutely impressed by this place. Right from the start, it was a great choice. I was greeted immediately upon entering the door by two friendly faces and genuine greetings. Both employees explained the menu and specials after asking if I had been here before. While the specials looked great, I looked at the menu before I came and already had my heart set on a sausage biscuit and grits. Once I sat down outside, I was almost immediately greeted by another friendly employee who brought out my Nutella Turbo drink. Literally before I could take a sip, my food arrived and I was so ready to dive in. (After taking the "required" pictures of course) The flavors that the cooks here developed in seemingly simple dishes is unbelievable. My biscuit arrived hot, tasted freshly made and was extremely appetizing with the homemade sausage patty, omelet style egg patty and pimiento cheese. Wow! There's a small parking lot and nearby street parking for when that fills up. Although there was not a line today, I've been told this place gets packed, so coming early is a good plan. You order at a walk up counter and there is breakfast and lunch served all-day and also come fun libations if you're in the mood for that as well. We did not try anything from the separate bakery counter but I for sure will next time. I ordered the chicken biscuit and my friend got the Benedict. Both were ridiculously delicious! So according to the wonderful readers of Orlando Weekly, Se7en Bites was the best place to have breakfast this past year. Along with that, this place has gotten a LOT of press and media attention. I figure it was time to start acting like a local and come here. The place simple and eye catching on the outside, and casual and comfortable on the inside. Pro tip: They sell enamel pins, for you people out there who collect pins. We walked up to the counter and placed our orders. I got the Minnie Pearl (two pearl sugar waffles hugging our "almost famous" buttermilk fried chicken with a splash of HOT (spicy, kickin, buffalo- for all you temp-spice-level wonderers) honey & over medium egg , topped with vanilla bean butter syrup & served with a side of cheddar chive grits). This was excellent. The waffles had that pearl sugar inside of them that made them sweet but not too sweet, which Always pairs very well with Southern hot sauce. The big piece of fried chicken breast was fried perfectly and juicy as all get out. The grits were pretty ok. If they added a bit more cheddar to their recipe, I think that would serve them well. I also got the chance to try a daily special of theirs, the SUPER Southern (cornbread waffle topped with cheddar chive grits, Ginger lemon BBQ pulled pork, 2 over medium eggs and finished with apple fennel slaw). This was the star of my meal here. That waffle was an excellent vehicle to absorb the pulled pork sauce, the egg yolk, and the acidity from the slaw. Very very good dish. After the mains, I wandered over to the dessert counter. There were SO many options. There will be something for everyone here, I promise you. I was actually overwhelmed. I ended up splitting a thing with my table, a multi-layer thing that was part brownie, cookie, cheesecake, etc. The downfall of set-ups like this is usually that the stuff is too sweet, but not here. The monstrosity was just sweet enough. Overall, this place is like an Orlando legend, and I can tell why. It's solid and not letting the hype and success let the quality suffer.
