Wonderful view. Located inside the Curio hotel, at the top floor, 11th floor. Jimmy the bartender was great. The 2 gentlemen in the morning staff on Labor Day were fantastic as well. Decided to come here for jazz brunch. This is a new restaurant in the La Jolla Hotel. All in all it's a nice and trendy looking place but overall too expensive for the food quality. We paid 120 for steak and eggs, eggs and chorizo, the banana bread, a side of toast and two drinks. We started with the banana bread. It tasted kinda stale and hard as if it was warmed up. Wild for 10 dollars. The steak and eggs were the clear winner of the brunch. The steak was cooked phenomenally well and was a great cut with a great chimichurri sauce on top. With that said, could tell that these were not homemade fries with it. The huevos con chorizo were okay. They needed sour cream or avocado to slice through it. Also the tortillas were really stiff. The Life's a Beach drink was okay as was the mimosa. Life's a beach was 17 dollars which is kinda crazy considering the size (2/3 of it was the ice cube). The side of toast was 5 dollars for one slice of toast. Didn't love that. Great service, great views, but all in all we were kinda bummed out by it. Sea & Sky is the renovated flagship restaurant on the 11th floor of the Hotel La Jolla. Despite the gloomy skies during May and June, the westward facing view overlooking La Jolla Shores from the penthouse height was spectacular. I can only imagine how the golden hour would look on a clear evening. Guest parking was available near the main entrance to the hotel. You pick up a ticket from the machine which can be validated by the front desk upon departure. The bar and lounge were in the front of the room as you exited the elevator. To the right of that was the dining area with a seating capacity of over a hundred. Coastal cuisine was offered throughout the day with breakfast starting at 7 am. The prices were reflective of a boutique Hilton property which meant a premium was built into the cost. My visit was during lunch on a weekend. There were nine items on the menu. The Wild King Salmon was my selection. It was described on the menu as garnished with smoked shiitake mushrooms, celery, and clam + artichoke chowder. I think the chef deviated from this because a plump ravioli was included that had some type of seafood filling. I didn't see any mushrooms or celery either. Instead, green beans and squash were the vegetables. The crispy skin on the salmon added texture to the dish. The chowder was made up of a savory tomato base. While my food and service were good, it's all about the birdseye view here at Sea & Sky. I wouldn't hesitate to bring out of town guests to dine at a table or drink at the bar just so they can soak in the sunset vibes over La Jolla Shores. read more

View is fantastic. Nice way to start the morning. Day 1 I had just a side of scrambled eggs and some gluten free toast. The eggs were not good. Clearly cooked way too fast, like on a screaming hot griddle and immediately dried out. Day 2 I got the avocado toast on gluten free bread and it was excellent. So beautiful. That egg was over easy. Laila gave my husband a hard time because he wouldn't leave a review. When did a tip get to be not enough to show appreciation for service? Meal was meh, some rotten lettuce buried in my salad and a cold burger for my husband. High pressure to have more than one drink. Don't go here if you have any sensitivity or allergies to food. My husband and I went last night and I ordered the rockfish with no onions and garlic. I took one bite of the eggplant and it was obvious they didn't listen. All the sides were loaded with both. I couldn't eat it. She didn't take it off the bill either. Valentine's dinner, pre fixe menu. The main was Brandt beef filet and spiny lobster. The steak was good but small. Now the lobster... I was served the head/torso, that's right, just the top of the lobster, no tail. Are you kidding me? I told the waitress "miss, I think they accidentally gave me the head and not the tail." She took it back to the kitchen and returned with the exact same plate. She told me the chef said you get either/or, the head or the tail. My wife got the tail so I thought wow, that's pretty cheap but maybe they expected us to share. That was until I saw the table next to me get served two heads, one to each guest. No tails. I think they ran out of lobster or ran low and tried to pass off the head as an actual dish. I was going to give this place 1 star but the waitress was nice and I think also embarrassed having to serve lobster heads to people for dinner so I'm bumping it up to 2 stars. The entire dinner was slow, took 2 hours for 2 people. I left hungry. Not much meat in the tiny little legs of the lobster torso and the head. Never going back again. read more

Cusp used to be one of my favorite restaurants in all of SD. The amazing view was matched by a top-tier innovative kitchen and an even more ambitious cocktail program and the service was always excellent and personal. That all ended when the Hotel La Jolla became part of the Hilton Curio Collection in 2016. At least they still have the view. I decided to try the newly renovated place-- now called Sea & Sky-- for Mother's Day Brunch. The food was good but pretty uninspired. There were no cocktails to be had because apparently the bar didn't open until 3pm-- on Mother's Day... with a packed room. Ludicrous. The service-- my real reason for writing this review-- was uniformly awful. The hostess-- wearing a wrinkled shirt and a frown--barely mumbled hello as we arrived. There was no welcome of any kind-- certainly no acknowledgement that it was Mother's Day or any attempt to make my mom feel special. This while other, far less expensive restaurants gush over every mom as they walk in, handing them a rose or some other token to elevate the experience. She walked us to our table, dropped the menus and split. Our waiter, Heddy, wasn't much better. He kept asking the same questions, didn't seem to be familiar with menu, etc. The bones are still there. I might be convinced to keep trying the space periodically in hopes for a true return to form, but in order for that to happen, the hotel probably needs to change hands again-- or Hilton needs to improve their compensation program and hiring standards for F&B staff. read more

Come to enjoy the view from this 11th floor restaurant at Hotel La Jolla Curio Collection. We preferred the morning as the glare was pretty significant around happy hour. The restaurant wasn't very busy and the service was friendly and quick for brunch. The huevos con chorizo weren't what I was used to but still very tasty. (It's bed of chorizo then the over easy eggs on top, so I ended up with far more chorizo but not enough egg to roll up in my tortilla.) My parents had the smash burger and avocado toast pictured. This is a really nice perk of staying at the hotel. read more

Food was alright but service was terrible. Laila served us and was very abrupt, she was very kind to the Latino table next to us but didn't care for our experience at all? She has too much attitude is not good at representing the restaurant, she just wants to argue anything you ask? I'm asking questions to know what I want to order and she comes back with rude sarcastic comments like "what else would it have" and "maybe you just have coffee" but I'm just asking for my intolerances in a nice way, if it has this... and is it possible to come without that? Or can the cream come in the side? " Or is this coffee different to the others because it's listed in "speciality drinks" but I get a rude "no it's just regular latte, just called sea and sky latte cause it's here and points outside followed by "can you see, obvious sea and sky" extremely rude to the guest. Just call it a latte then if you don't want questions, it's listed away from all other coffees and you don't make anything different but give it a special name and put it in the specialty drinks sections and want zero questions about it. Laila also pushed us to give her good review, because it helps her at work, she bribed us with free coffee on the way out if we did it. I felt pressured to give a good review before she gave us the bill. It was not a good experience. What's the point of having a job in customer service if you have zero customer service? read more
