I was in La Jolla for a little birthday getaway. I searched Yelp for recommendations and Nine-Ten caught my attention. We ordered Adobada Shrimp tacos and Jamaican Jerk Pork Belly entrees. My compliments to the chef on the sauces used for both dishes. 1. The Shrimp tacos were served on a thick and soft corn tortilla that had been seared with cheese that formed a nice crunchy bed to place the Shrimp on. An avocado sauce and salsa toppings were fabulous. I have eaten hundreds of shrimp tacos in my day, these were the best I EVER ate. 2. The Pork Belly had a nice spicy kick along with black-eyed peas, sweet potato puree, and carrots. The pork was perfectly seasoned that was nice and crispy outside and tender inside. The service was quick, the staff were attentive and checked on us throughout the meal, filling water glasses without being asked or prompted to do so. The restaurant is inside a hotel, nicely decorated for Christmas in the lobby entrance. We had a nice covered patio table, with a poolside view on a sunny day. I highly recommend bookmarking this restaurant for any occasion. Sincerely, Rosemary

Absolutely loved this restaurant! We came here since it was on the list of restaurants for Chase Sapphire Reserve on Open Table and I was honestly blown away. We shared sourdough bread, cacio e pepe, hamachi sashimi, pork belly, and scallops. This was more than enough for 2 of us and we were full even before the scallops came. Everything was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed all the dishes we got but my favorite were the hamachi sashimi (so fresh and a balanced citrus flavor!) and the cacio e pepe (really great flavor and texture). We didn't get to try dessert because we were so full but would love to next time. Service was really kind and attentive. Our server said he's worked at many high end restaurants but this one was top notch and I can totally see that from our experience with the food and service. This is a great spot to come to for a nice occasion and you can make reservations online with Open Table. Street parking only in La Jolla so make sure to buffer that in for timing.

We are at 9:10 Prospect. This is such a beautiful part of La Jolla. They have a beautiful bar here and food starts at 5 PM. There is a view to the ocean. Service is on point

Came here for a date night with my wife on a Sunday evening after thanksgiving and we were fortunate to have a spot available an hour after deciding where to eat. Our server was very nice and attentive so kudos to the server! The scallops were very delicious and nice hint of citrus that was great. The hamachi was my favorite with a nice savory punch from the sauce smoothened out by the hamachi. The cacio y Pepe was an excellent dish for mushroom lovers and our waiter's suggestions to get the sourdough bread to dip into the sauce was on point. The bread was some of the best bread I've had both in texture and taste. We got the pork belly as well but I'm not as big of a fan of pork belly. The pieces had more fat than I'd like but that's pork belly! Definitely would come back to try other dishes.

One of the more disappointing fine dining experiences in La Jolla. Came here for a group dinner for a meeting/talk on a weekday, so options were limited. We all started with the salad, which was by far the most uninspiring of the night. It was just chopped lettuce sprinkled with maybe some vinaigrette and called it a day. There's maybe a spinach leaf or two, but the variety of vegetables or texture or flavor is utterly lacking. For the main course I got a filet mignon, which was cooked decently. It came with mushrooms and potato slices along with a green puree that looked just like basil pesto but does not taste like it at all. It's a bit sweet, maybe with some kind of fruit, but it's not a bad contrast with the beef. Finally, the dessert was some kind of cake, it was soft and had ice cream on the side, but I think the cake is a bit too sweet for me.

First time here Came here for a bday dinner. It's inside the Grand Colonial Hotel and offers cozy intimate dining with elevated service! Plan to come by around sunset so you can either dine on the patio or come out before going to get seated. Drinks, exceptionally made. Enjoyed all of our items: -Sourdough bread -Pork Belly -Gnocchi -Cod -Veggie main -Cheese plate Everything was amazingly executed and now I see why this place has the Michelin Distinction.

The service was excellent. We were seated right away and our waiter greeted us within minutes. He took our wine order and our food order since we had planned ahead and knew what were going to order. The ambiance is ok, might be better if they dim the lights just a tad. Overall service and food were great. Hamachi is amazing and highly recommend. The duck was my favorite dish. It has a nice crust to it that was excellent. I would return again.

My husband and I have been to Nine-Ten a few times for date nights as well as with our baby. We've really enjoyed our experiences each time and really appreciated them accommodating our baby as well. The outdoor patio is beautiful during sunset hour. The food is delicious - their duck breast is perfectly cooked and the Jamaican jerk pork belly is one of our favorites.

Crispy muffins, smoky Canadian bacon, and silky poached eggs in lemony hollandaise. Each bite is rich, bright, and perfectly balanced.

From the moment we stepped into Nine-Ten at the Colonial Hotel, we knew we were in for a special experience. The atmosphere is relaxed, open, and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a leisurely breakfast with friends or family. Everything on the menu is farm-to-table fresh, and it truly shows in every bite. Our group of five indulged in some of the standout offerings: Eggs Benedict - Perfectly poached eggs atop prosciutto cotto and a toasted English muffin, drizzled with velvety hollandaise and accompanied by herb-roasted potatoes. A classic done to perfection. This was my breakfast. Brûléed French Toast - My daughter could not stop raving about this. Topped with macerated berries, Chantilly cream, and a luscious crème anglaise, it had a delicate, caramelized crunch that made each bite irresistible. Simply divine. Short Rib Toast - According to my wife, this was her personal favorite. Tender short rib on a toasted base, topped with onion marmalade, truffled Mornay sauce, and a perfectly fried egg, served with a petite salad. Bold flavors beautifully balanced, every element executed flawlessly. Any of these dishes alone would impress, but together they make for an unforgettable breakfast experience, thankfully everyone was willing to share. While we didn't sample the fresh breakfast pastries, made in-house daily, we can only imagine how incredible they must be. Next time! Service was attentive and seamless, making the entire meal feel effortless and enjoyable. Nine-Ten delivers excellence from start to finish, and we cannot wait to return. This is breakfast done right, one thing that annoys me is when you see this on the menu, "To help cover increasing costs & support growing minimum wage a 5% surcharge will be added to all checks." I felt like this was already priced into the cost of the items, which were worth every penny, so my comment is not about being petty, just a simple eyeroll. This cost them a star, outside this it was an enthusiastic 5-stars.

Good food but because it is upscale, the portion sizes are small and for higher prices. You do have to make reservations considering how busy they are and their small size At dinner, I tried the Parker house rolls, the potato agnolotti and the half baked chocolate cake. The Parker house rolls (5 pieces) came out warm and were so soft. They're a little sweet on top and paired perfectly with the salted butter they give. They didn't come out with our food at first and when the waiter realized, he gave them to us on the house! The potato agnolotti comes with 5 small stuffed pasta pieces. The sauce is tasty, the green onion gives it a lot of flavor. The crispy mushrooms on top are meaty and add a good texture and flavor! The half baked cake is very runny so there isn't much substance to it. But the flavor is good. For breakfast the next morning, I tried the lemon blueberry pancakes, pavlova and some of the roasted potatoes. The roasted potatoes were so-so, they kind of tasted like they were seasoned with ramen packets and were still a little tough. The pavlova was good, but the meringue itself and cream were just a little too sweet. The tart strawberry compote that comes with it was good for balance! Lastly, the lemon blueberry pancakes (3) were very good! Great texture and size, lots of blueberries and the right amount of lemon to balance it. They were very good with metered butter and syrup on top!

We had an AMAZING experience at Nine-Ten. We had a wonderful business lunch with Daisy, the Senior Catering Sales Manager, and she could not have been more gracious and welcoming. We tried the house-made Parker rolls. I could have eaten the whole basket!! We also had the hamachi sashimi and the Jamaican jerk pork belly. Highly recommend both! The sashimi was so fresh and the pork belly was full of flavor! For lunch, I had the salmon. Others in my party had the Spanish octopus. Highly recommend. At the end of the meal, we met Chef Jason. Such a nice guy. We had such a great experience and we can't wait to return! Thank you!!

We came here for a date night and had a great time. The vibe was relaxed, not too loud or busy which made it easy to actually talk and enjoy the night. Our server was friendly and helpful, and he recommended a lot of dishes that we ended up loving. We started with the Jamaican jerk pork belly and the Agnolotti pasta, both were really good. For entrees, we went with the Grilled Jerk Chicken and the Smoked Duck Breast. The flavors were bold and balanced, and the presentation was beautiful. Highly recommend checking them out if you're looking for a solid dinner spot in La Jolla. I'll definitely be back for the amazing food!

First timer at Nine-Ten and it wasn't bad! Parking - street parking. Unsure if they had valet. Dress code: Didn't read what it was but just look nice, lol. Seating: There is an indoor restaurant area and a patio. Book ahead for indoor since it's popular. My girl friends and I sat outside at a side patio which had heaters but was still a bit chilly so bring a coat or a wrap! Food: 8/10 Solid. A few of us just got appetizers which were delicious and shared. Jamaican Jerk Pork Belly - A WOW to this. 10/10. with Baby carrots, Swiss chard, plantains, black-eyed peas, spicy jelly, sweet potato purée! Wow, *chefs kiss* the flavors paired so well together. Please keep this as an appetizer forever. Hamachi Sashimi - great presentation. Flavors were good. Recommend. Smoked Potato Anoglotti - 3/10. Bland but great presentation. Wouldn't get this again. Pan seared Verslasso Salmon - morel mushrooms, beech mushrooms, wild onions, sorel, citrus cured trout roe vin jaune. Hmmm it was okayyyy not wowed by it. Just okayyyyyy. Grilled Jerk Chicken - confit Japanese sweet potato, broccolini, pickled green onion, Jimmy Nardello peppers, Fresno chili sofrito. This was delicous!!!! Great portion, presentation and flavors. Chicken was not dry at all. 9/10! The other girls in the group got the Maine Sea Scallops and Grilled Prime Ribeye which they said they loved. For dessert, the banana parfait really caught my eye. I ordered it and shared with the girls... It was delicious! Highly recommend. The service was good. Restaurant was clean and I'd come back here again and probably opt to sit indoors.

The event itself was very entertaining, the food was good, and the drinks were also good. There were a couple little hiccups with the drinks during the evening, but honestly nothing major enough to take away from the experience. My only real criticism was with the hors d'oeuvres service. They kept bringing the appetizers to the same table instead of circulating to the different spots where our group was seated, which created a bit of a bottleneck at times. I think it would have flowed much more smoothly if the servers had distributed the food more evenly around each corner of the event space. That said, between the atmosphere, the views, and the overall vibe, it was still a really memorable evening in a gorgeous location.

Overall, the food and experience felt average to me, which is why I landed at 3 stars. Not bad, just okay. I had no prior knowledge of the restaurant, their brand, popular menu items, or social media presence. To be fair, doing a bit more research beforehand might have helped me get more out of the experience and try what they're best known for. This is a casual neighborhood spot, so there's no need to dress up. Their tagline, "Where the locals eat," fits the vibe well. The staff are friendly. An older woman was kind and social. She showered me in compliments and the spent some time chatting with the table next to us. It gave the place a neighborhood, familial feel where the staff seem comfortable engaging with guests. Our server was polite, though a bit rushed. He would check in, start a conversation, and then quickly move on mid-sentence. I ordered the Malbec, Antigal (Argentina). It's a $15 bottle retail and priced at $15 per glass. We ordered the Mussels and Focaccia bread as an appetizer. The broth was a bit on the salty side, though the fries on top were cooked well. The bread felt a little firm and could have been fresher. If you're seated at a 2-person table, space can be tight once both appetizers and entrees arrive. We ended up moving to a larger table to accommodate everything. The portion sizes and plates are large and can be shared among 2-3 people. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was underwhelming for me. My husband ordered the 24-Hour Braised Beef Short Ribs and really enjoyed them. He said they were tender and flavorful. For our special occasion, we were treated to their homemade mud pie dessert. It's a coffee flavored ice cream with an Oreo crumb crust topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The portion was very HUGE and more than we could finish. It became a bit repetitive after a few bites. The slice portion can be shared up to 3-4 people, in my opinion. If I were to return, I'd be interested in trying some of the dishes they highlight on social media rather than sticking to the more standard Italian options.

Food was amazing. Nice robust flavor from the béarnaise…read moresauce on the Salmon Benedict. Waiter was very pleasant. He asked what kind of side of toast did I want with my Benedict, I responded with "oh? There's toast included? Maybe Rye?" And he said "oh no, my apologies, it doesn't come with toast". I must have had a really sad look on my face when I said "oh ok". because he said "you know what, I'll throw in a side of complimentary toast". Anyways, great little niche close to the ocean. Nice light cool breeze. Street Parking was easy to find

This place is really very cool. They had some service issues when I sat out on the sidewalk but…read morewhen I was in the patio inside the restaurant, it was all sorted. My daughter loves their waffles which is great and all but...for $15, you get one waffle. Its a thin one. With a teaspoon of powdered sugar on top. Want another even on the same plate? Also $15. Order 2 at the same time? $30. All the dishes were very good and they have coffee out for you so if you arrive and there's a wait, you can have some free caffeine. All the dishes and the coffee seemed better than what I would have expected in a super touristy area. If its windy out, don't sit outside because the umbrellas blow over even with sand bags on them and I saw one nearly take an old guy's eye out.

The bread was amazing, as was everything else. Everyone loved their food. I also had the Green Devotion drink, which tasted... very healthy. Wouldn't get that again, but not sure if it's possible to make somethign that healthy taste good :)

The ranch and fries were the only thing I genuinely enjoyed and even then my fries came out lukewarm at best. Serving a "mule" in a copper mug without straws was not it. The copper taste just made it unbearable to drink along with the lack of flavor and the fact that it tasted just flat (versus super sparkling like a regular mule...I would think not having real vodka in this should not impact bubbliness unless the soju killed the bubbles in the ginger beer?) We understand we came on a Sunday and who expected busyness but I think it was just worse than we were anticipating. Our server was nice no doubt but we'd asked for things, like lemons, and never received them and even asked a busser and never got them from either. If food is outstanding, I can usually look past service flaws but the fact that both were subpar really left me not wanting to ever come back.
