    Rabbit friend Before
    Laurie C.

I got my rabbit at Blacklist a couple of summers ago, and I love him. I was thinking I wanted him to be happier, so I started looking for ideas. I decided what I wanted to do, and went as a walk-in, as I did last time. Bryce came out to talk to me right away, and he knew exactly what I wanted to do, right down to the colors. He had me sitting up, so I got to watch him work-the first time I've been positioned to observe! I'm very, very happy with the work Bryce did. The studio is clean and well lit, the staff are friendly, and the cost is quite reasonable. I plan to return many times. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I don't have one sour thing to say about my experience at Blacklist Tattoo. I was visiting Portland for 4 days & I was so fortunate enough to have Patrick Stoner do my first tattoo. He made my experience so enjoyable. He was sweet, personable, down to earth, encouraging, comforting & funny. My first tat was on the rib cage which is a 10/10 on the pain scale, & he made my experience so comfortable. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to do my 1st. In fact, I enjoyed him so much, that 2 days later I went back to get a second tattoo from him!!! Patrick, you are honestly the best. Thanks for marking me for life with the tats & the wonderful experience :) - Tracy

Jodie Beechem did an amazing fine line tattooing in my hands. She very careful laid out the designs to fit the contours of my fingers. Jodie was really professional and pleasant to work with. I will definitely be back.

I walked in at 5:30 expecting to be told that I couldn't be seen for that day. I walked out at 6:30 with a GORGEOUS sprig of basil done by Jodie that I couldn't be happier with! All of my other tattoo experiences have been uncomfortable and met with an unfriendly face and this experience couldn't have been further from that. Jodie is incredibly kind and talented and if I was a local I would go back time and time again. Go here and ask for Jodie!

Some people wake up craving waffles. Today I woke up craving ink. Lucky me, this awesome shop is a 3 minute drive from my hotel near the Lloyd Center in downtown Portland. Double lucky me, this awesome shop also welcomes worry free walk ins. Combine this with stellar tatt artists and a budget friendly price, makes Blacklist THE best place to go for last minute tattoo urges, or a long time planned out piece. Either way, I can guarantee you'll walk out of this shop happy with your new ink. *Ask for Sean he is amazing!

Unfortunately I have to update my review.. I've gone back and forth on leaving this and I've decided it's probably a good idea to share my most recent experience. I have always got my big, important work done by Brynn. I wanted her to do a very special tattoo of my cats, but she was no longer working there when I visited. I was deadset on getting that tattoo right then so I asked for Sean to do it. Sean has done another smaller tattoo of mine and it never fully healed correctly but I always chalked it up to me not taking care of it. Sean did my cat tattoo and it looked great. I was in love. But the next day my arm was in so much pain I could barely move. Then the odd bruising began. Huge purple bruising. Nearly covered my whole arm. Then it began bleeding from the scabs. This went on for weeks. I started getting really scared because I've had much larger pieces done and never experienced this type of pain, bruising or scabbing before. I did everything I could to make it heal better but nothing worked. I was honestly too scared to return to Sean because I had never gone through this and honestly didn't know if it was me or him who caused this. Then the bruising didn't go away. It turned blue. And it spread all over where my portrait of my black cat was. Not to mention, you couldn't see the details in the face of my black cat. The ink just blurred together... I started doing research and learned I had blowout. Sean had been too rough on my skin, causing the ink to bleed underneath. I was so panicked, it caused me immense anxiety for weeks and I couldn't do anything but hide the tattoo in shame and wait. Finally I was able to get it fixed by an artist I trusted. But I was so burned that I'm honestly terrified to get tattoos now. I understand blowout can happen with any artist and any part of the body... but since I had a bad healing experience with my other tattoo Sean did years ago, I'm thinking this isn't coincidence. He does beautiful work but be wary of the heavy hand. I unfortunately am not returning to Blacklist in the future. This experience was beyond horrifying and I never want to go through it again.

I had been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time, however due to the fact that I lived overseas most of my life where getting tattoos are illegal the want had to wait. Thankfully I moved back stateside for a year and finally was able to pursue my want for ink. I looked all over the city of Portland for shops and was for the most part bummed out. Most shops I went to were lacking in friendliness and advice for a tattoo virgin. Needless to say I was very disappointed about finding a good place for a tattoo, until I came across Blacklist. The shop is extremely welcoming, great flash on the walls and awesome artist portfolios. The people at the front desk are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. When it comes to the artists, their a great bunch. Not only are their tattoos top notch and stunning but they are also very friendly and considerate. When they consult you on your tattoo they put you at ease and let you know they know what their doing and will give you the best tattoo. I have had all of my tattoos done in Blacklist and will continue to do so every time I am stateside.

Clean, friendly and warm.... Everything you could want from a Portland tattoo shop! Thanks for my roadrunner Christy!

I am happy to report my excellent experience with Brynn. I love being able to walk into a shop and walk out with a tattoo - and working with a really cool artist makes the whole thing even better. Brynn was able to come up with a sketch that was exactly what I wanted that I wasn't exactly great at articulating. I will certainly be going back for more! The shop is cash-only, does have an ATM and accepts walk-ins.

Getting in touch with my 3rd eye by Olivia Britz-Wheat!

I've had a tattoo design in mind for years, but had a difficult time finding an artist that I thought could do it justice.... I wanted traditional style meets modern art. In a city with so many tattooists, where it is relatively easy to get licensed, it was so hard for me to sort through all of the million options and bullshit. Thankfully I found Olivia at blacklist! I initially found her work on Instagram, and after I did some stalking, I knew she'd be the perfect one to do my piece. Everything about my experience with Olivia was awesome.... Start to finish: she promptly returned my texts, gave awesome feedback on my design, and made me feel super comfortable throughout the whole process. I really appreciated her professionalism; she's has been tattooing for almost a decade, which was very apparent to me in the way that she set up her machines (and answered all of my questions about them...), and free handed the bottom of my tattoo to set it up for future additions. I appreciated her help with placement, and she gave me ideas on how to change the proportions a bit, to make it more realistic and easy to add onto, which I hadn't thought of. Her space at blacklist was comfortable and clean, and the whole environment was awesome! I happened to come at a time when "Suck Norris", the prized plecostomus (sucker mouth catfish), went missing from the goldfish tank, which was definitely a tragedy, but also a source of great amusement!! Overall, my only regret is not finding her sooner! I give her the highest recommendations, I was just so satisfied with the experience, price, art, and the chance to meet another amazing human (who shares my appreciation of classic cars and chickens!). I've definitely made a friend for life! Thanks Olivia!

OLIVIA did an AMAZING job! She made a way better tattoo than I asked for, her hospitality was on point, I passed out and she gave me snacks and a sparkling water, she listened to my mindless rambling, and was super friendly! She made my tattoo experience the best one I've ever had! I will definitely see her again for my next tattoo, thank you so much

She also did a tribute tattoo on my other arm for my mom that was in perfect fine line that looks like it was hand written in one strike. Sarah listens closely to what you want and then finds a cute, stylish way to make it work. Her placement is precise, she has a firm yet gentle touch, and her use of color is fantastic (both color theory and saturation). I've never been hip and now I'm getting old, so I'm quite used to feeling anxiously out-of-place in tattoo shops, but Scapegoat is more approachable and welcoming than your average shop. They go out of their way to offer water, space heaters, heating pads, masks, or whatever else might make you feel most comfortable. The artists seem to support and treat each other kindly. The bathroom is a work of art. Everything is clean. It's easy to find unmetered parking a couple blocks away. And this is a vegan business to boot! I couldn't ask for more.

I made the terrible decision to be tattooed by Toby. I went in to start on a full sleeve, although it wasn't technically a full sleeve but a 3/4 sleeve. I have a tattoo on my upper arm that takes up half of my upper arm. During my 1st appointment we discussed that we are going to keep and incorporate that one. At my 1st appointment Toby told me that it would take 3 sessions since it wouldn't be an actual full sleeve. I paid for a full day session. He told me at my 1st appt that the stop time will be once I tap out. Our first session he ended early and said that his kids were sick. He specifically told me that our next session won't be the same. He also said our next session wouldn't take as long to get started. I went back in for my 2nd session yesterday at 10am. He showed up late like he did for our 1st appt. It wasn't until about 11am that he started drawing on me. It took him about 4 hours to draw on me. Keep in mind we haven't even started on my upper arm. He was drawing on my lower arm. Finally by 3pm we get started tattooing. The table wasn't working properly so he had to reset up a new one. Then some random person walks in looking for a tattoo. He stopped tattooing me to go chat with the person. Then throughout my entire session he purposely inflicts maximum pain. He seems to think that I don't have any large or decent pieces. I have my entire back done. I also have portraits and pieces on my legs. I have good quality work in those areas. I only mentioned to him that I wanted my back covered up, but because I don't like it anymore and don't have those beliefs anymore. It's not due to the quality. The tattoos that he was starting to cover on my arm are much older tattoos that I got when I was younger. Based off of that I suppose he thinks I don't know any better. My ex is also a tattoo artist so I understand needle groupings, heavy hands vs light hands, dry wipe vs wet wipe etc. Throughout my entire session he never finished a single area. He jumps from area to area throughout the entire process. He would randomly jump from my wrist, elbow, side of arm, just all over the place. He opens up the area and works on it for a while, then moves to another area for like 20min or so, then moves back to the area he opened up. He inflicts serious pain. I hinted to him several times that each time you do that it hurts much worse. He never listened and continued to do it. I told him from the start that I wanted to work in a particular area first. He didn't listen. He is super heavy handed intentionally. He dry wipes with a paper towel the whole time. He inflicts maximum pain to attempt to get you to tap early. At the very start of our 2nd session after the marker was drawn on, I flat out asked him will you be able to finish this today to which he yes. By about 10pm he said we should call it a night. I literally only had maybe 1/2 of a half sleeve. There was so much work to complete still. I told him no I want to keep going. He didn't want to but I was persistent. So we get back to tattooing. I asked him flat out why did you tell me that we would have this finished today if that isn't the case. He said well there are a lot of factors like the way a client takes pain. I told him he put me in a ton of pain but I never once stopped him so what do you mean. I told him I feel lied to, taken advantage of, and just how unhappy I was by this and that I won't be continuing with him. I was planning on getting 2 full sleeves, full chest piece, and a cover up on my entire back. I told him you literally told me that for a full day session that it means we stop once I tap out. He got extremely combative. He said that in the fine print says he only tattoos 7 hrs max. I said why did you lie to me then? He ended up calling me an asshole and threatened to stop my work mid session to leave it. He said it's his right to do so. I said that I'd leave a review about this and he said that's "thats fine, I don't give a f". I'm not sure if he ended up texting his family or people or what. But suddenly around midnight all his people showed up at the tattoo studio I guess to try to intimidate me. I paid $ 3,225 in total and I don't have a completed half sleeve. I don't even have a single section of my arm that is complete due to him jumping around constantly. Literally not even one single area of this "half sleeve" is completed. During our argument he scoffed at me and was the mentality of how dare you .. but he admitted flat out a full sleeve is 5 grand. I said okay and I've paid over 3 grand now and I don't even have a completed half sleeve. He refuses to take accountability. He is a very selfish mentality, a liar, and he will gaslight you the entire time. He pretends to be a nice person but he is absolutely not. He takes advantage of people and rips them off.
