Fantastic, clean, modern, friendly, and professional. I've had exams from both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Gwizdak and both are extremely knowledgeable and have warm and inviting personalities. They both educated me on my eye health and made sure I was satisfied with my service. Wonderful people. The receptionists (all of them) are very friendly and courteous. They always pick up when you call and are very accommodating with scheduling. Great team. Personally I want to give a shoutout to Richard. He greeted me at the door during Covid and since I have been unable to get a mask, he gave me his last one! He was super friendly and so professional. He was calm, courteous, and very helpful. This review is long overdue (sorry Dr. Gwizdak), but I have to say that there have been major changes here. Dr. Gwizdak has taken over the practice and things run much smoother. Dr. Bisson has retired and Dr. Gwizdak has brought on a new doctor, named Dr. Stephanie Mitchell. While I have not had the pleasure of meeting her yet, I'm sure she is just as great as he is. That bitch Laura is gone, thank God and he's added such great people to his staff. The level of care has not changed. I've been a patient of his for over 13 years and I've always been happy with the services I've received, minus the prior issue I had in my other Yelp review, but that in no way reflects on Dr. Gwizdak or the practice. He is an extraordinary person, in general and an extremely caring individual, let alone doctor. He doesn't have to force bedside manner. He automatically has it. He shows concern for whatever needs or issues you may have going on. If you need an immediate appointment, the office is good at getting you in right away. I also like that I have called for one issue or another and sometimes they will either immediately put me on the phone with him or have him call me right back. The follow through is amazing. Not many offices operate like that, today. They also have one of the best selections of glasses I've ever seen. They carry sunglasses and those for skiing or performing in other sports. I have ordered glasses, sunglasses, and contacts, here and the prices were reasonable. The turnaround time to get your products is also very good; usually in about a week. read more

I have been seeing optometrists for 20 years. This is one of the most expensive places you can go to. Don't be tricked by their fancy interior and their hospitality at first, they will try to rope in your insurance claims through multiple angles, through glasses, frames, special lens, polishing, contact lens fitting co-pay when you're not getting contact lens. They'll add it all up together without telling you what you really need or asking you what you really want. Beware: You need to come in prepared about your insurance and what you need out of a prescription or not, else, they will charge you many $$. They're insurance dogs. Go to a different place that looks out for you and your money. Another unprofessional example: if you noticed your prescription changes (for better or for worse), it is because the doctor doesn't know what she's talking about. She chose to make my prescription stronger with more strain on my eyes, which will only deteriorate my eyes in the long-term. Other eye-doctors had advised me what I should do for the sake of my health, while this doctor will literally just go based off of what you can read off the screen with binary questions. Their equipments are fuzzy too, I really don't think they tested it out themselves. It's dangerous and too by-the-books. Complete waste of time coming to this place. Watch out for your money and your health! Edit: Right, and I'll be warning customers who care about their money to go somewhere else. My review is of a patient who is money conservative, or at least you know, have the patient in mind first like true hospitality and business should be concerned about. Also, if you truly want to know the whole story, the doctor asked binary yes/no questions, not open-ended. That's one difference in consultation. Yes, obviously I can see the letters clearer. Yes, I can see the letters sharper. But should I really have my prescription be that? If she went up 2 degrees higher on the equipment, and asked the same questions, it would be the same answers and response back. Yes, in addition to the letters being much sharper, I can now see the lint on the wall as I get a headache. Newsflash: We use our eyes everyday, you'd think we'd know if we couldn't see as well as we're used to. It was very much like filling out a form, not talking to a doctor and hearing about a doctor's expertise. I was the one who had to clarify that it was way too strong in the end, but she already jotted the number down and hesitant to change. You're questioning the expertise of several other eye doctors I've seen in the past and my experience with them versus yours. Quite frankly, take the feedback and evaluate what is wrong with your practice more-so than what is wrong with me. Let alone the insurance rep front desk is constantly pushing glasses and frames on without asking what I wanted first. It's gimmicky. The equipments were fuzzy on the outer lens itself, you really thought my review was it was fuzzy because of a lower prescription? What kind of a dumb**s do you think I am? Also, you're not Cartier nor Jimmy Choo.. at all. More like JCPenney. read more

A friend recommended this place and I'm glad she did. The staff is super nice and thorough. Their pride and commitment toward excellence can be seen in the office details and how the staff engages with you. I worked with Dr. Mitchell and Eric, who were great. Eric was super helpful and accommodating. He was very accommodating and provided great advice in choosing the right glasses for me. Also, I love things that are super easy, so I appreciate that I could fill out the paperwork online and email it in. Yay, folks who are in this century. Do no recommend Sea View Optometric Center. Take your money elsewhere. Original eye exam was 9/14, and I picked out a tortoise and clear pair of Penguin frames. Returned for my 2nd appointment 2 weeks later and was handed a pair green and brown Penguin frames. Apparently this was a mistake on the manufacturer where the office orders their glasses from. Frames were reordered. Received a call on 10/15, my new frames were in and ready to be switched out. Arrived to my THIRD appointment, the woman walks in with the same green and brown frames that I already have by mistake. Frames needed to be reorder now a 3rd firm. I came in today, 12/14 , for my now FOURTH appointment to get my frames switched for the 3rd time. I arrived 5 minutes early for my 10 am appointment, had to ring the bell 4 times only for the woman to make the comment as I walked in "oh well we really aren't quite ready for patients right now." Weird, when you're sign says you are open at 9 and you scheduled me at 10 am but whatever. She shows me my new frames (finally the correct tortoise), takes my old frames to switch them and comes back with a new excuse that now somehow my lenses do not fit into the new frame even though they are same style and should fit. They now have to contact the insurance for approval to cut new lenses. At this point I was fed up and asked for a complete refund and my prescription so I could get my glasses somewhere else. I refuse to come back in a 5th time. To which the woman told me she couldn't give me a refund because the insurance had to approve it first. I explained I don't understand what the insurance had to do with the $315 that I paid your practice out of pocket after my insurance was taken. If you are able to charge me, then you should be able to refund. She left the room to get approval and returned and now all of a sudden she was able to give me my money back. I give 1 star because through the whole experience the staff was as nice as they possibly could and I could they were embarrassed. I was communicated with quickly each time my new frames came in and able to make an appointment quickly. However, I do feel for a business that claims to be a "boutique" eyeglasses shop and the amount of money I paid, this type of service Is completely unacceptable. From the very first appointment where my glasses were ordered incorrectly until today there was ZERO accountability taken for the mistake and they only blamed the manufacturer where they ordered the frames from. When you chose to contract out with a third party, you chose to take on the risk of the service they are providing. I work in management in customer service and contract through 3rd parties on a daily basis and would NEVER be allowed to just point the finger if my customers was upset (even if it was actually the fault of the 3rd party and not our own). That is the risk you take! Although the staff was apologetic and very nice (I even explained to the woman today that my frustration was not with her personally as it was not their fault) I received no offer of compensation for my time or even a discount. Nothing. It even took me raising my voice and becoming very aggravated for me to be issue a refund. I was extremely patient and understanding up until I was fed up today. I shouldn't even have to ask for a refund at that point, it should have been a given. I am now waiting for the biller to call me back because she is working from home and not back in the office until the 21st and she is the only person that is able to contact the insurance in order to get my benefits reversed to my insurance so I am able to get a new pair of glasses somewhere else. Hopefully this will not be another difficult and long, drawn out process . Please reevaluate how you conduct your business and maybe you should reconsider the manufacturer or warehouse you use if they clearly cannot provide the same great experience you claim to give at your office. read more

I had another great experience at Sea View Optometric, and Dr. Mitchell and the staff are welcoming, friendly and patient and made me feel at ease with my first eye exam in five years! The office is incredibly clean, gorgeous design and all staff continue to wear masks. I have finally found an optometry home! From beginning to end, this place is amazing. Check-in was fast, I was shown to a room to wash my hands first. (They have great Covid protocols.) The young lady who does the initial eye check was thorough. I don't even think I waited 5 minutes for the doctor to come in the room when I was waiting for him. I didn't come in anticipating to purchase glasses but after meeting Eric, that changed right away. I was a little on guard because I've previously dealt with pushy sales people at the optometrist and it's always a turn off. Eric was incredible! He helped me choose a great pair and was very knowledgeable when explaining my insurance coverage. I was told my my glasses would take about 20 days to come in but to my surprise, it was only a week. My husband and I have been going to this center for at least 5 years. The place is clean, professional, and friendly. The optometrists (the two that I have seen) are very professional and approachable. They are meticulous and they pay attention to your health history. The only thing that makes me not wanting to give this place a 5 star is because of their price for the eyewear. They used to have options for more affordable eyewear that you can pick out. They have since taken away that affordable bins. Also, they seem very pushy for trying to get customer to upgrade to different and more expensive options. They have weird policy that when they fix your eyewear (even if it's purchased there) they are not responsible if something happens to the eyewear. I have spent at least $300 each for 4 different eyewear pieces there over the last 5 years (glasses and sunglasses). read more

This has been one of the best experiences I have ever had with an eye exam. The staff are very friendly and caring. Dr. Mitchell had thorough knowledge on what I could do to correct and improve my eye sight (after developing a corneal scar from a corneal ulcer back in 2019). She even made the exam enjoyable with her humor and warm hospitality. After the exam I was greeted by Claudia, who helped me pick out my frames and explained in detail the process of everything involving my contact lenses and eye glasses. I was fascinated by the new technology they use to measure the fitting of the frames. If you want to find a great eye doctor and friendly staff that make you feel welcome while addressing your optical needs, this is the place to go. Don't go to this place they are rude and money hungry they want a 150 dlls cancelation fee which is absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself time from this place. Find another eye doctor that are open on weekends. I work two jobs and only have weekends off and have four kids to attend they only allow two family member per visit. Even when I told them I needed it to find baby sitter because I have 4 kids and no one to care for them they had the audacity to tell me they can't work with me. I told them am not paying those 150. I was willing to find someone to watch my kids, but they don't want to work with you they care about their staff and rules and not their patient's bad customer service. SeaView is close to my office and always provided superior service and good choice of designer frames. Cut to pandemic: I now work from home in Santa Ana. I heard Costco had great optometry services so I tried them out. A month later my scratch resistant basic looking frames were scratched beyond repair. That after waits for the initial service exceeding an hour (literally take a number). I ditched Costco and came back to SeaView last week. Huge shout-out to Daisy who quickly took my six month order for EyePromise supplements and billed them to my FSA card over the phone, had it ready for me with detailed audit-proof receipts emailed the same day and printed out the next day and guided me to the new titanium frames I like when I came in to get the supplements. It was a super busy Saturday morning. I did not have an appointment since I just wanted to pick up my order and look at newly delivered frames. Another huge shout-out to Eric who found time in this extremely busy period and stepped up to offer to research if my old Euro titanium frames from SeaView which I loved were still available in other colors (they were) and to help me navigate thru a selection of other styles. He and I ended up agreeing a Tom Ford frame looked great and he put aside for me, scheduled an exam and made sure my insurance would cover a good portion of that frame which it did. I am so very happy to be back!! There was that positive warm vibe I entirely missed. Truly motivated and engaging professionals work here. I feel like a valued customer, not like the next number. You cannot beat the selection of frames here either. Fyi Brad and Maria still work here but we're too busy for me to say "hi" to. read more

I attempted to make an appointment for a simple, routine eye exam. I completed the online form, and thought my appointment was booked. I then received a VM from Sea View stating I needed to call them back and confirm the appointment. I called them back and got VM. They called me back and left a VM stating my appointment still has not been confirmed. I needed to call them back and provide them with my SS number and/or member ID. Once again, I calked back and got a VM. I just wanted to make a simple, routine eye exam, not feel as though I'm attempting to get into a US Government top clearance agency! The process to see someone is frustrating, and I just moved on! While attempting to support a local business in my neighborhood, this place does not make it easy to make an appointment. read more

I used to be a customer at Sea View back on my high school days over 14/15 years ago. I didn't have insurance for a while so I found a place cheaper. But during the pandemic that practice moved & was to far so I decided to go back to Sea View because my new insurance was in their network & close to my job. They're office is clean & staff is very friendly. I love Dr. Mitchell is great. I wear contacts and for the fitting gives me 2 different brands to try out what I like better before committing to one brand. The variety of glasses to choose from is amazing. Doctor Gwizdak is fantastic. He was very personable and explained everything he was doing thoroughly. Turned out my last place had over corrected my Rx last year, which explained the perpetual headaches I had been having for months. The corrected Rx is great and my headaches have practically vanished. The office staff was friendly and the technician who was helping me order my glasses and contacts was wonderful. She was very patient as I looked through every frame a dozen times trying to find a set that I liked. And she was even nice when I decided not to buy new frames at all but instead have my old frames fitted with new lenses. Most impressive was how knowledgeable she was regarding my insurance. She clearly explained what my benefits were, how they applied, and even did a cost comparison with me for either buying my contacts or lenses with insurance and paying for the other out-of-pocket. I was able to make an informed decision and pay the best price for what I needed to purchase. They e-mailed and texted me a notice when the glasses and contacts arrived the next week. Extremely fast service and pick was pretty quick, even during their busy Saturday hours. Highly recommend this office. My one star ding is for the small selection of frames. They did offer to special order frames in another color, but the selection of frame styles was just too limited for me to find an option I liked. read more

What an incredible place; a) LGBTQ owed and affirmative, b) best eye doctor I have been to (in 3 countries) with a wonderful manner, c) incredibly modern painless exmainations, d) human approach all round e) all staff are trained stylists and give a personal, wonderful experience. They support independent frame designers, and have great passion in their specific styling on you and what glasses suit your unique face/personal taste with superb suggestions. Such a fun afternoon, and changed the way I think about glasses fashion. I've been going to Sea View for annual eye exams for five years, and consider myself a loyal customer. With COVID, I've been making sure to take extra effort to support local health professionals and get annual exams, since some were forced to close earlier this year. However when I called, I was told they're now charging $25 just to make an appointment! And this is because some people have canceled. I could see this maybe for new patients, but I've been going there for five years and have never canceled. I know everything's more complicated due to Covid, but this seemed really insulting. Five minutes after hanging up with Sea View, I had an appointment at one of their competitors and it didn't cost me a dime! read more

I saw this place many times in passing and after having more vision problems, I naturally chose this place. 1) they asked me to show up early to do paperwork which is fine; I understand. Why show up early though when they make me wait nearly 30 mins after my appt? 2) it's identical to a sunglass hut with an eye dr in the back office. Complete with up selling services and materials. Um no. 3) very poor frame selections and the styles make me laugh literally out loud. When finally finding the frames I wanted, she tried selling me the shitty display frame. NO! I wont pay that much for out of wack display frames. Order new ones I don't mind additional wait 4) staff wasn't friendly. None of them. I found out more about what didnt work in their office by listening to them instead of feeling as if I was in a dr office. 5) prices were cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. Skip this place and find and actual doctors office. This is lame and I felt uncomfortable there. read more

The level of knowledge and professionalism at Sea View Optometric Center is 5 Star in every way, from the welcome, to the pre test and the exam. The doctor was great, she explained everything is detail and discussed my options! Sea view optometric is clean and the staff is okay. I have been trying different contacts, but due to my high stigmatism none of the samples provided worked for me. I came in today December 5th to see if glasses would work. I was getting a $292 credit for returning the lenses. They literally have nothing in that range + the cost of lenses and they did nothing to try and make my budget work. When I asked the lady who worked in the front named daisy id I could get a refund she said that there is a %20 restocking fee and that come out of what I paid, not the insurance. She then said that she cannot do a refund and that no one is here can do the refund. I understand that covid makes it so they have limited staff, but it's absolutely ridiculous that they do not have someone on staff that can issue refunds. I drove 30 miles and I am leaving with Zero resolution. They said someone would call me next week. Daisy said "the office administrator is not home so he cannot refund you" and that he would call me next week. read more

They have a great selection of frames from companies not part of the conglomerate known as Luxotica which I appreciate. Love that they are taking precautions on wearing masks, washing hands, taking temperature checks at the entrance, allowing limited people into the office at a time, constantly disinfecting etc. I felt very safe going to my appointment. I didn't mind paying the deposit as it went towards my purchase. Dr. Mitchell saw me this last visit; Dr. G saw me the previous time. Both were great. Thank you for staying open and accommodating your practice during these difficult times. When I called and left VM, they quickly got back to me and they were able to book me within a week due to a cancelled appointment. Thanks Daisy for all of your help!
