I went here for dinner with my mom and order the fried whitefish and chips and the whitefish chowder. My mom got the perch tacos as well as the whitefish chowder. The fried whitefish was excellent, I would definitely recommend. My mom and I both would come here again just for the fried whitefish. The chowder was above average - this was my first time trying whitefish chowder. It needed some salt and pepper but overall it was good. The perch tacos were good but not good enough to get them again. This place is small with a bar on one side. The decorations were all based around the Seabiscut movie... they also had the movie playing in the background which was cool. Otherwise we didn't really like the atmosphere for a sit down dinner as the bar area was very loud. I would have rather come for lunch as this restaurant had more of a casual vibe. read more

We showed up after 9pm after the busy season but still had great food and amazing service. Their late night menu really hit the spot, and our bar tender who was our main server was incredible. He provided excellent service and entertained us with stories from a local on the island. We had the fish and chips which came in a delicious batter, and signature drinks kept us there until closing time. Will definitely be returning on our next trip back to the island. read more

I refuse to support a business that treats customers SO rudely. Went for lunch today and waited 20 min for a table. Finally, a table was cleared, but a server immediately gave it to a group of 4 that walked right in. I was then told by the server that she needed to give it to the party of 4, over our party of 2. Even though we had been standing at the door waiting patiently for 20 min???? RUDE!!!! I wasn't told that we wouldn't be given a table if a larger party came in. Money. Money. Money. Most places on Mackinac were still closed for the season, so we decided to stop by here for lunch. Service was great and very friendly. The restaurant isn't that big, so there was just a small wait as they were wiping down the table before us. I love that they use paper straws here! Tried the whitefish chowder, which was really delicious! It was the right ratio of fish/clams and soup. Others in our group had the salad, which looked amazing! Maybe it's an island thing, but on the pricier side - a 6 oz cup of chowder cost around $9 plus tax/tip. read more

We were looking for something on the affordable side on Mackinac, as we had a larger party, so we want to be accommodating to everybody's wallet. That being said, I wish we would have just gone to a pizza parlor on the island instead. We didn't have that many people in our group, and they were unable to sit us together. It always put you in a awkward situation when you have to get up and walk to someone to say what you want to say. That's always kind of a bummer, but we were seated immediately and we were all starving so we didn't let it get us down. As this was one of the first meals we were having in Michigan, we were all really eager to eat some fresh whitefish. I believe all of us got the fish and chips, save for one person who got chicken wings. (They were frozen, and be barely ate them but it didn't come as a shock.) The whitefish was just a tad underwhelming. You can tell it defiantly wasn't fresh caught, but I would be surprised to find out if it was even ever caught in Michigan at all. We still ate it cause it was still tasty, just a little bland and didn't have the fresh texture. Fries were very good. Service was defiantly served yankee style. It's acceptable but it's defiantly a change from southern hospitality! In the future I think we would try something else on the island. read more

The atmosphere was nice, the bar was nice, and the employees were very friendly. We were starving and ordered the fish and chips and it was probably the worst I've ever had. The fish was grey and dry, and tasted freezer burnt. At the price they charge it should be amazing. It looked good when it came out, but as soon as we cut into it, it was horrible. If it wasn't for the amazing staff, I would probably never go back. The people next to us ordered sandwiches that looked amazing, I was just very disappointed being right there on the water, the fish should be amazing. Was going to send it back, but it was so slammed, we were so hungry from all the walking and long day, we just ate the fries which were good and left the rest. read more

Very shaky 3 stars, very shaky. We walked in and there was no host in sight. Stood there for a few minutes and a young man came over looking like he would rather be anywhere else. He mumbled something that I didn't understand. I promptly pointed to the table I wanted to sit at with my wife. He then performed a poor cleanup before we sat down. The next young man who came to take our orders actually smiled and communicated well. We ordered a can and a bottle of beer. He then brings the beers and just left them on the table. I asked for glasses. At this point I think he realized his mistake and actually poured them into the glasses. By the way, the canned beer was a dark ale, the "widow maker". Outstanding! The whitefish chowder was exquisite. The spicy wings were ok. The salad contained some yellow greens. A tad more attention would have been nice. Plus, annoying flies at the table. read more

Amazing food! Amazing service! Right on Main Street so its an easy walk from just about anywhere. First time we came in was for dinner after taking the ferry over to Mackinaw Island. I got the BLFGT with sweet potato fries and my hubby got the Triple Crown with chips. Both were so delicious with tons of good flavor. The sweet potatoes were the best I've had to date! We actually came back in the very next day to watch the Mizzou game over lunch. We agreed to get something different but I HAD to get the sweet potato fries again. Gyro was bomb and the hubs liked his fish and chips. Get the Woody Wheat beer if you like smooth wheat beers. A great choice and on tap now. This place is seriously awesome. The Waldorf salad and whitefish chowder was a hit in our group and from a kid's perspective the kid's menu had their staples and my 8 year old said best chicken nuggets ever while my 10 year old loved the cheeseburger. My wife and I were walking down the street and decided to give them a try. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. My wife got the Reuben and I got the Mackinac Hot Chicken (recommendation from the waitress). My wife enjoyed her Reuben and I enjoyed the Hot Chicken. We came in with a group of 6 and it was only a 10 minute wait. And this was on a busy Sunday. The kale salad was the best I've ever eaten! My partner ordered the fish Rueben which is a weird combination however they use coleslaw instead of sauerkraut and it was very delicious too! The restaurant was busy but the food came out in a timely manner. The server seemed stretched thin. She wasn't attentive to refills on beverages. They could have used one more server it seemed. But the industry is hurting right now so we didn't hold this against the place. It has a cool Seabiscuit horse theme, and even played the movie throughout the restaurant. There are only 2 bathroom stalls. One for women and one for men. They should change them to unisex bathrooms. read more

This is a small place, but definitely welcoming! The staff there were the kindest we came across on the island. We were sat at the bar due to it being pretty full, but the servers and bartenders were nothing but warm and kind. They have a nice menu that they were ready and willing to explain. I ordered the whitefish and chips and my husband ordered a burger. The whitefish and chips were seriously phenomenal. The fries/chips were great (and they provided malt vinegar right away- hooray!) and the fish was out of this world good. My husband said his burger was one of the best he's ever had and cooked perfectly to order. We come back to the island every four years- we'll definitely be back! read more

I don't even know how to begin. We walked in here on the day they were closing the island and met with some of the friendliest staff and islander patrons. John the bartender is such a sweetheart. The locals are hilarious and just our kind of people. Starving? Try their balls! Mac n cheese balls that is! And the whitefish and chips was so crispy & tender! John kept both the conversation and PBR flowing. Football was on tv topped the cake for our Sunday funday. This was easily our best meal on the island! The room is small, so if you come during a busy night you're likely going to have a bit of a wait. Like many of the high-end places on the island the drink menu is extensive, and I went with one of their specialty cocktails. I was pleased at the flavor balance and generous amount of alcohol. My kids indicated their hamburgers were delicious, and I was equally pleased with my meal. I went with their Gyro and found it to be absolutely delicious! After some wandering stopped for lunch. Sat at the bar and ordered the fried Mac n cheese, a bowl of whitefish chowder and perch tacos. The mac n cheese was terrific. We need a bit more sauce and they brought it right out. They were very creamy with a nice crispy crust on the outside. The chowder was also very good. Rich and bacon, what not to live. Then the perch tacos. I love a fish taco and these were very good. The coke slaw was great, creamy but not soaked. We shared everything. This was a good place on mackinaw island. We were able to grab a seat on the ledge and later move to the bar. It's a small place and bartender was good. Started with the macaroni cheese balls (that I read about on yelp) and these were fantastic. You get three so you may want to share. Then I had the pulled pork and grilled cheese Sami. Wow it was a nice surprise. It was very good. Then the wife got nachos which were standard. We got most of the toppings on the side with the nachos. The drinks were solid but came with a hefty price. We tried the shot of the day which was a "chambong". No idea what it was so we said why not... well, it's a flute of champagne and you bong it, haha. Interesting. We like to stop in here when visiting Mackinac. We got there a little before noon on a Monday and got the last table. Our waitress was very good and attentive. I can't remember her name, but she was from London. I ordered the black bean burger and upgraded to a side salad instead of chips for $4.50. The burger was good and the side salad was a nice size and was fresh. The guacamole on the burger was a nice addition. The kids meals are a good size and come with fries and applesauce. I like that they come with applesauce too, then I don't feel quite as bad about my kids eating fries.... Everyone enjoyed their meal. I definitely recommend trying out Seabiscuit when on the island. read more
