The Vet was very very rude! I just moved here with my husband. It took me about 2 months to get a job and be able to afford a trip to the vet. I thought we would be ok because there was nothing wrong with my little guy. But then of course Murphys law kicked in. He had his own back yard and now sharing it with other dogs he seemed to have gotten worms and I noticed his ears were irritating him. So with the first check we go to the vet. I chose this place because it was close to home. Everything else is this little town (imperial beach) has been amazing so of course I wanted to choose a local business. The vet was awful, she treated me like I was a bad owner. I heard her talking about me through the door, telling her staff that there was something suspicious about us. ????? Wtf why because I did not know if my dog had cherrie eye as a baby??? He was adopted a year ago. I already felt bad that my poor little guy had to suffer waiting for me to get a job. But here I am trying to get him fixed up and this lady is all but yelling at me. Then she sends out a laundry list of bs that would cost over 600.00 she acted like my dog could die. It was ridiculous. She started taking about how (since we are from Texas) he could have heart worms and his having breathing could be a sign of that. My dog is an English Bulldog it's part of his breed to breathe that way and snore. Is this lady for real? ??? The rest of the staff was amazing though. Probably because they are trying to make up for the crazy lady. Although I do not know why. She yells at them in front of every one. It's embarrassing. I will not return. I got my shot for the worms and eat mess and got out of there. read more

A wonderful place to bring your pet . Although I have another veterinarian for 3 of my cats, I bring my blind kittens to the talented and caring staff of Dr Dee. My family is from Coronado and we always travel to IB just for the compassionate people at seacoast vet! I don't know about you guys, but my dog is my LIFE. I'm always so nervous even when he just needs vaccinations and walking into seacoast makes me feel so much more confident that my dog is in the right hands. They have always treated us with professionalism and nothing but open arms. We have a small Maltese and a big ol' pitbull and this wonderful vet and her assistants treat them both equally and amazingly! My pitbull melts with all the attention! I love this vet clinic! Everyone who works here is so nice, even when you bring in a 60 lb crazy excited pit bull who wants to jump on/love everyone. They were so good with him! Our other dog is super shy and timid in the vet office and they were great at making her feel comfortable. I hate when I go to a vet and they just poke and prod your scared little dog like she's a sack of potatoes. I have brought both dogs in for different reasons and had consistently good service. They always do a follow up phone calls to make sure everything is good. They recommended teeth cleaning for one of my dogs after looking at his gums and seeing redness, they gave us a quote range (depending on how much work they determine needs to be done once they start) and said "let us know," no pressure, just straight information. I like that. It's pricey, but just about everywhere is. Maybe they'll give me a discount since I gave them 5 stars ;-) read more

Changed my vet to Seacoast when I moved to Imperial Beach. The vet there just does not have a good bedside manner with owners of pets. At first we felt she was just a little different. Then in repeated emails and phone calls from her, it became apparent that she was just rude and condecending. We had a recent health issue for one of our cats that needed a vet visit. We were talked down to and treated rudely. I will not bring one of my animals back to this vet. I just do not appreciate the manner in which she conducts her business. Took our cat to Imperial Beach Pet Hospital and received much better service. They took the time to explain what was needed for care and the science behind it. Go there instead. read more

I came here with my new puppy and I called for the pup to be treated for tapeworm. The staff was nice and friendly but the new vet is a little grumpy. The vet thought she had parvo because I stated she had blood in her stool but the blood was from a tapeworm...so she called for unnecessary tests. The dog wasn't showing any other symptoms. But other than that the vet techs are awesome and do a great job but the vet is rude and bossy to her employees. Old vet was better...oh well. read more

We took in our cat because she had scabs all over her. Dr. Aufderheide was so gentle with her the whole time, she didn't even fuss when he took the skin scrapings or gave her a shot. He said it was some kind of allergy, gave us information to use, gave us an antibiotic for her and told us to let him know if the scabs return and we will go from there. We couldn't have been happier with his it abilities as a Veternaian and his treatment of our beloved pet. His prices were fair and reasonable and we couldn't be happier knowing our cat is in safe hands. We highly recommend Dr. Aufderheide for anyone. Thanks so much for all the tender care!!! read more

Dr Dee and her friendly staff always make us feel like family. Our dogs, Duke and Bella have seen Dr Dee since she began her practice in IB. She takes her time to explain treatment options and is never pushy. Our dogs are happy to see her, they can sense her calm and caring demeanor. We made a big move out of the area and her and her staff helped us follow every step required with appointments, lab work, certificates, vaccinations, and paperwork. They never miss a birthday for the Furr-babies and remind us when care is recommended. Seacoast Vet has always gone the extra mile for us and we are grateful! read more

Dr. Dee and her staff did a very good job handling our little Pom that we rescued at the ripe, old age of 9 years old. He had major dental work that was required and after 5 weeks on anti-biotics he finally got it taken care of. He is in recovery now lounging at the house but we expect him to feel much better, very soon. We appreciate the accessibility of Dr. Dee (always a quick email away) and the friendliness of the staff. read more

I just have to say.... Seacoast is the best! I started out at another clinic when I moved to this area and had nothing but problems. My son brought home a kitten from the boiler room at school I wasn't sure if we would keep him. My vet couldn't get him in even though I was concerned about this unvaccinated kitten being around my dogs. I called Seacoast and they had me come in that day. Dr. Dee was so awesome as well as Clint and the rest of the staff they allowed me to take my time and gave me options for a kitten package that was very reasonable! I transferred the care of my two dogs and couldn't be happier with my decision! We decided to keep the kitten "Foster" who is unfortunately missing. I called Seacoast for advise since he is micro chipped and Clint immediately posted Fosters pic on their FB page to report him being missing. What customer service that you just don't find anymore! My over all experience wasn't bad. It all came down to how I was treated during a stressful situation. The veterinary doctor, Dr. D, showed 0 care or compassion for our situation and shunned us off as if our specific situation was not important. Not a great tactic for client retention. Certain days they are great, but this day just rubbed me the wrong way. The only reasonable person I talked to was a Red haired woman. She was so sweet and kind and understanding. My advise, look for a more caring, credible office to work for. Not one that can't handle 3-4 people in the lobby at one time. Never coming here again. read more

I miss Dr.Bill so much. He was my Vet for over 17 years. The new vet ( Dr. Dee) or whatever her nname is, who took over his practice seems inexperienced and also very rude. I took my two dogs in for nail trim and anal glands to be drained. Her staff did a horrible job on the nails, and also told me that neither dog had a problem with their anal glands. Also, this vet told me that my 6 yr old needed his teeth cleaned and almost guaranteed that most, if not all of his teeth would most likely be pulled! I didn't know what to say to her. She practically forced me into making an appointment for his dental. After blood work was completed, this vet then called me at home the next day and told me that she was pretty sure my dog had cancer! I was in shock over this. Almost $300.00 later, I then transferred my two dogs and cat to Coronado Vet. Both dogs needed their nails re-cut, and my 6 yr old's anal glands were completely full. I was so upset! Long story short, my 6 yr old did not have cancer. I had his teeth cleaned at Coronado and he only lost 2 teeth. The vet at Seacoast told me she made it a daily practice to pull dogs teeth daily! WTF is wrong with her! I would never trust her with my dogs or cat ever again! Thank God I listened to my instinct. Coronado Veterinary Hospital is the ONLY Vet I trust in this area! read more

This vet did not keep records of my dogs heart-worm test last December, now I have to pay again at a new vet. Not happy for the lack of details of the front desk/vet. They also have new vet, so they were going to make me pay for another exam because the new vet wanted to meet my dog. NO THANK YOU! I went else where. read more

All I can say is WOW! We finally found a great vet who cares more about your pet than breaking your bank! Our dog started to have an allergic flare up in his ear last month, he was constantly scratching and pawing at it. We found the first vet we could and got him in asap for what we thought at the time was just an ear infection. The vet took a look at his ear and said it was fine/normal nothing to be concerned of. That it was normal for them to scratch at their ear. She then continued to exam our dog and that was it, said we were fine to go. At check out they told me the bill was over $200 some dollars. My jaw dropped and immediately asked to see the invoice. The vet had put a bunch of nonsense stuff that I didnt approve of on the bill (ex-chicken flavored tooth brushing kit? We went in for an ear infection, really? An we brush our dogs teeth so that wasnt the issue). Needless to say i was NOT pleased and still did not know what was wrong with my dogs ear. A few weeks later, his ear started to flare up again and was back at itching it. This time it was really red and he had scabs all on the inner flap. He wasnt him self and seemed to be depressed, just laying around the house. I immediately came on to yelp and started doing some research. We saw the great reviews for Seacoast and figured we will call and make an appt. It was Fri, so we scheduled it for Mon. Well a few hours later my dog started yelping and pawing at his ear in discomfort. It was Fri like I said and they close at 5pm, and it was 5:40pm, I didnt want to chance anything so I thought Id call and give it a try if they were there. Surprisingly, they answered! She didnt seem bothered or angry that I called and they were probably trying to get home. She was able to reschedule my appt for the first thing the next morning! From then on all I can say are great things! We arrived to the vet and were taken great care of! The vet herself, and her nurse (i believe) with blonde hair were the nicest people ever. They treated our dog as if it were one of theirs! It ended up being an allergic reaction and they were able to diagnose it within minutes of checking him out. They were able to explain everything to me and unlike the other vet, they didnt just say "it looks normal". While we were their we decided to take advantage of their promo for the heartworm meds and free testing. On top of the exam, his antibiotics, and the heartworm meds we walked out with a bill less than $120! read more

Don't chance it here! I brought my 10 yr old schnauzer to see Dr. Dee (new Vet for us - we have had their lifelong Vet in Phoenix) for symptoms consistent with Pancreatitis. He & his sister have had Chronic Pancreatitis almost all of their lives & believe me, I KNOW when it's starting to flare up. He was having loose B.M.'s for a week - I was endeavoring to get it under control with a medication his Internist prescribed, however, Dr. Dee was upset that I would use it, because of side effects. Since I couldn't reach my Internist and this was July 3rd (everyone was off for the 4th) I stopped the medication out of fear for my dog & she gave me a mild medication to be used for 3 days - to firm up his poop. I later found out this medication was for ulcers - he doesn't have ulcers. My dog also vomited twice the morning of his appt. - a SURE SIGN for him, of a flare up. Dr. Dee insisted it was regurgitation - she wasn't there to see it or clean it, so I'm not sure how she could determine that. During his appt., Dr. Dee was in and out of our exam room at least 10 times - literally, answering questions, etc. on other patients. She was very distracted and wasn't at all thorough. They also drew blood (mistakenly because he should have had it done on an empty stomach) and we ended up coming back on July 6 (Monday) so it could be drawn again since he had to be fasting. Poop sample brought in also. When the tests came back, I couldn't get any results explained to me! Dr. Dee went to a seminar, so I spoke to another Vet - Dr. Brinton - who told me all about HER OWN recent illness, but neglected to fill me in on anything regarding my dog! All I heard was "inconclusive" - then why do the tests if they can't tell you anything? Since when does a test not give you a yes or no or even a maybe? When I finally got a hold of the Dr. Dee, I found that one test DID come back with elevated pancreatic enzymes - not extremely high, but given his EXTENSIVE history with pancreatitis (& the fact that he was on a bland, virtually fat free homemade, medically formulated diet) she should have at least prescribed a basic antibiotic or told us to immediately come in for specific tests regarding pancreatitis. She did not do either. She was not concerned about the abnormal test result, and me, wanting to believe it was true, didn't press the issue that day. However, after several calls and emails about my dog on Thurs and Fri., I didn't want to wait any longer (it was just getting worse) & wanted to get him back in to see one of their Vets on July 11 (saturday), but was told by the receptionist to "wait over the weekend to see Dr. Dee on Monday". That same day, we were at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital with a very sick, severely dehydrated little dog - with - guess what, a horrible flare up of PANCREATITIS. My little boy could have died that weekend, had we not gotten him in to the hospital. This doesn't happen overnight. It takes a while to happen like that. I had been calling and emailing Seacoast during that week of July 6 and could not get any help from them! When I complained to Dr. Dee, she said that they offered a recheck! No, they certainly did not. On July 11, she emailed me to tell me that yet another Vet would call and we could set up an appt. (don't take a "no" answer from receptionist Veronica - keep after her) for more testing, but I had had it. He needed help right away and he got it at VCA. Thank god I didn't fool around and spend any more precious time or money at Seacoast. I requested a refund because my dog couldn't even get an uninterrupted exam & of course, test results that were not acted upon. It was substandard, neglectful care that could have cost us much more than we paid to VCA ($3100.00 so far) - it could have cost my baby his life - oh, & as a parting note, Dr. Dee emailed that "if he was in that much pain, I should get him to a hospital somewhere". Don't count on any recommendations for hospitals or E.R. centers, either! I apologize for my long explanation & hope I've got the dates right, but I really wanted to warn people about this problem. Seacoast may be safe if your pet needs shots, but don't take a chance with anything you think is serious or is chronic. read more

I'm a long time resident of IB. Been bringing my dog to Seacoast pet clinic for years. I've always been treated with compassion and a true interest in my dogs well being. Well recently new owners took over. I guess its like everything these days. Home town doc is retired and " business" takes over. I took my dog in for a routine check up informing them that she's been a long time patient with a history. They, weren't interested and when ever I mentioned something about my old girl, the response I got was cold and quickly / sarcastically checked as if I didn't know what I was talking about. After all they're the "experts". I honestly felt like the only reason they even looked at my dog was because they get paid. The second time I went in was just flee meds. There was a woman with a newborn child standing at the counter. I waited and after a few minutes asked her if they had already helped her. She replied no and that she had been there for about five minutes. I finally got someone attention and after a few more minutes someone came out. He was obviously distracted and didn't seem interested in helping us. Wow, talk about feeling like a valued customer. I don't care what expertise they claim the impression from this side of the counter sucks! I don't usually blast anyone on yelp but we all pay to much these days for everything and poor unfriendly service is not acceptable. I wont be bringing my girl there again and don't recommend them to anyone. read more

Absolutely love this place. We took our chihuahua dachshund mix to Dr. D for a 2nd opinion on some back/spinal issues she was having (first vet was not giving us enough information/feedback in answering our questions and didn't seem to be treating the situation as urgently as we felt it needed to be). The situation with our dog seemed to be getting worse and Seacoast Veterinary Group was much closer to our house, and very convenient for us to schedule an appointment and bring her right in. The staff was VERY knowledgeable and helpful. We felt so welcomed by the entire team. You can tell that this doctor is very experienced, educated, and passionate about veterinary medicine. This place really made us feel cared for. Prior to bringing our dog in we were so distraught and depressed about what our dog had been going through. Bringing her to Seacoast veterinary group really brightened our spirits and made us WAAAAAY more optimistic about our pups recovery than we were before. Incredibly happy with our choice to start coming to this vet. We have 2 cats as well and we are going to use this veterinary group as the primary care provider for all of our fur babies. read more
