This place is always amazing. The service is top-notch and the food is usually high quality. (My lamb chops were not so good that night, very thin on the meat, but the second set that I took home had more meat and better flavor). The was our second time here. The first time was great, the food and service both were in line with what you pay. This time the food was still great but the service was not. Our waiter was nice but not around much. Our appetizer came out within a minute of our mains. The manager apologized but both were good. At the end of our meal we ordered coffee and a dessert. However, neither ever showed up. In fact our waiter asked if we had seen our dessert, which we told him no and asked for the bill. The wait was long enough that we had time to take our two kids to the beach, put their feet in the water and come back prior to the waiter coming by. Probably the most disappointing dish. 1.5-2 stars. - Scallops: Not bad. The cook on the scallops was correct, but I didn't like the sauce on the polenta, saccharine levels of sweetness. Didn't go well with the scallops. 2.5-3 stars. Service - Waiter was super friendly at first, but his mood noticeably deteriorated as the restaurant got more crowded...got a "Seriously?" with an "eye-roll" from him when we said "no thanks" on dessert. This was my first time dining at Sea-Guini and I loved every bit of it. We didn't stay at the Opal sands resort but the staff treated myself and my family as if they were honored to have us. The ambience of the restaurant was great with lots of guests stopping by for a seat at the bar. Overall the food was very good. We had a scrimp cocktail to start - very fresh and the cocktail sauce had the right balance. I had the short rib with rustic vegetables which was amazing. My wife had the grouper on a bed of risotto which she liked. For desert we shared a tiramisu which needs work - the bottom layer was very dry. SeaGuini is a beautiful restaurant that we looked forward to trying. We experienced an unfortunate series of events during our time at SeaGuini . We were seated at a tall table directly across from the bar, not knowing that this was the route that all servers and customers walked to get to the other side of the restaurant. We spent the majority of our visit waiting. Our bar order of a glass of wine and a martini took way too long. Most certainly a management issue. If the current staffing level can't keep up with orders, fix it. Customers are less likely to be antsy about waiting if they have a drink in their hand. Appetizers were delicious when they finally arrived. This was our first glimpse of how slow kitchen orders were. We ordered our entrees when the appetizers arrived. Two tables near ours were seated after us, but ordered, ate and left before our entrees arrived. In fact, our entrees were still not at our table after we had occupied the table for over one hour. Totally unacceptable, and a management issue. Someone is not managing that kitchen. Actually, no one is managing the restaurant as it should be. We witnessed a man walk in past the hostess to stand at the bar right next to our table and visit with folks for over 25 minutes...countless wait staff and assistants walking past him....and he was BAREFOOT. In a restaurant like this with no shoes on and that went unnoticed by every employee there? My husband and I had enough. At the 65 min mark, we decided we were leaving. Our server was horrified and apologetic that we were so unhappy. We told her to send our food to our room. The Manager happened to be standing in the aisle as we were walking out. I told him that we were not waiting any longer for entrees because the kitchen was so slow. I told him that we wanted our food sent to our room and that it had better be hot. I also told him about the barefoot customer at the bar and all he could comment on was that he didn't see that. He said if he had seen it he would have had him leave. No one on the staff noticed it, either. How is that possible? Our food was sent to our room. It was hot, as I requested. They added two desserts and all was sent without a charge. A nice gesture that is appreciated, but not at all necessary. Just make sure that your future customers are treated well with good food, delivered in a reasonable amount of time and that your bar gets drinks out quickly. Seaguini let us down on all counts last night. No one should have to lower their expectations when paying over $600/night for a room here. read more

The food was delicious. We're NYC foodies, and we're happy to find this level of cuisine in a waterfront location in our new hometown of Clearwater. We asked for a table outside so we could watch the sunset over the water, and had to wait 30 mins (we got there 30 mins ahead of time), so we headed down the stairs to the Beach Bar 1 floor below. We had a lovely view of the water, great service and top notch cocktails: I had a blackberry mojito and my husband had a strawberry daiquiri. Yum! (My husband was a little miffed that we waited 45 minutes for our entrees, but it's a hotel. And we had delicious fresh breads and Caesar salad, so it didn't bother me.) Back upstairs, our table looked out over the Gulf. We ordered another round of drinks, me a prosecco with the diver scallops crusted in porcini mushrooms and hubby had a glass of Pinot Grigio with his grouper. We weren't super hungry so we had a lighter dinner: salads, lobster bisque, and pizza. It all was really good and ended up opening our appetite. So we did order a Creme Brûlée for dessert. The waiter was excellent. The hostess not so much, hence the 4 stars and not 5. We made a reservation for 4:30 pm (the only later one available was for something like 9pm). We arrived and had to sit on the high tables even though we requested a regular low dining table because "those in the back are for dinner". Well, dinner started at 5pm and half of the dinner tables were empty even though we stayed until after 6pm. Question number one: why were there no reservation times available for 5pm? Question number two: why did the hostess not let us take the "dinner" tables when there was only half an hour left, we ordered from the dinner menu anyway, and I am sure she knew there were not enough reservations for 5pm to fill the dinner room. Did not live up to the hype or the stellar ratings on Yelp. Was really excited to eat here and while the restaurant and the views were fantastic, the food was not good. I'm shocked at all the compliments this restaurant gets with their food. It's an Italian restaurant and you would expect their pasta to be fantastic, but the pasta was so so bad. Appetizers: We got the Rustica pizza, brussels sprouts and the lobster bisque. The pizza and brussels sprouts were excellent. Loved the dip the sprouts came with. The lobster bisque wasn't very bisque-y, but it was very tasty. Usually lobster bisques are overly salty but this was not. We ordered one lobster bisque, but they brought out two bowls since there were two of us, and I thought that was super fantastic of them to do that. Entrees: We got the penne a la vodka and pappardelle bolognese (replaced rigatoni with pappardelle). Quantity wise, both dishes were immensely large. We definitely could have split one dish between the two of us. But the pasta simply was not good. Both pastas came out lukewarm and were WAY overcooked. It was al dente plus 10 minutes. There was no chew to the pasta and eating overcooked, lukewarm pasta is just not a great experience. I would not get the pasta here again. We also go the smokey old-fashioned and that was an AMAZING drink. The drinks here are definitely the stars of the show. I wish we just came here for drinks and ate elsewhere but too late now. The service was decent, but they brought the bread out after we were halfway through our entrees, so terrible timing on their part. The bread was fairly good but I think could be enhanced more if they gave it with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Overall, glad we came here since the views were great, but was severely disappointed with the pastas. My friends who sat at a different table also shared the same opinions on the pasta. read more
