Just posting an update from 2020 that I am still very happy with my water purifier 5 gallon tank. Traded it in for a 20 gallon tank that I did not need. The service is professional and the owner Jeff always polite and staff or owner comes and fixes it if there any issues at all. I pay $20 a month saving me another $20 so I don't have to get bottled water from the store or any other company. Very clean tasting two small tanks reverse osmosis. Great for drinking and cooking. This company has been around for over 30 years and offers a variety of health-oriented equipment and services. read more

I have been doing business with Jeff for some time now. Originally bought a wonderful Miele vacuum cleaner. One of the best decisions I ever made. The thing has held up now for years, and still has tons of power, is quiet, has a Hepa filter, is easy to use, and aesthetically pleasing. I have been a bit envious of the very cool business that Jeff has put together. This is a smart guy. He simply finds the best items, and then markets them. People love the products and are return or long-term customers, like me. We started out many years ago in La Mesa, with the reverse osmosis water system, which to our family delight removed the awful chlorine taste and the flouride. Why ever put flouride in water??? I have been a customer for 16 years. I was originally referred to this company by a friend. Jeff Shipper has great customer service, and is very knowledgeable. Once when my Miele vacuum power head stopped working after about 10 years of using it, and I needed one urgently, Jeff drove a new one to my home. The reverse osmosis system we bought from Jeff has been working great for 16 years. About every year we call Jeff to get it serviced. Seven years ago, we got a whole house water filter and a water softener from Jeff and love them both. Jeff came out to our home and explained how they work, and helped us decide on a system. Recently, I went through a divorce, and when I rented my apartment, I knew I wanted another Miele, a reverse osmosis, and a way to filter shower water. Jeff came over to the apartment to deliver the vacuum, and helped figure out how to put in the reverse osmosis (I rent that system). Jeff is awesome. I got the water filter for my kitchen sink and two shower chlorine filters - I love them all. I've had about 6 yrs. When I got them I was working but then lost my job unfortunately I couldn't pay my fees or my filters for a few years and Jeff was very understanding. When I went to him to make payment arrangements at his shop, he reminded me about how I needed to replace the filters inside and the very next day (a Friday night) he showed up at my house and did all the work for me. I've rented a water filter system for my sink for 10 years from Jeff Shipler who owns this company.IvJust moved to a new house. Had him send his guy to hook up new one, great. Scheduled Jeff to unhook old one. He asked me THREE times if the next tenant would want it. I told him I RENTED THIS HOUSE SO I HAVE NO CLUE WHO WILL RENT HERE. I left him inside the house to remove system. INSTEAD he took it upon himself to LEAVE the counter piece (spickett) and it connected to a line that would then be attached to a tank WITH AN ADVERTISEMENT TAPED TO THE INSIDE OF THE CABINET! I called him and told him I was VERY piturbed- as I need the rental back to it's original condition. He said - well it looks great- then the next person can have it all ready. He refused to accept that was wrong, Instead told ME well all you have to do is take a wrench.. blah blah blah . I told him I'm charging him for someone else to remove it, and to come remove my current system. This guy is LOCO!!! Manipulate and incredibly rude. Look at the other reviews! Stay far away from this nut! Now he's calling me off the hook telling me that my precious landlord may like it and he going to call him? Including that he has improved the property etc. mind you it's a damn spickett connected to nothing!!!!OMG I feel a restraining order coming on My husband literally had to tell him to stop calling me or we would get a restraining order. He just lost THOUSANDS of dollars by doing this and acting this way. He's a bully and honestly must be mentally ill. read more

We used Seagull Distribution for water filtering for several years. To this company's credit, a test of the water the reverse osmosis system provided appeared not to have the contaminants that my neighbor's non-filtered water had. However, we became extremely tired of salting our water and it did not taste nearly as fine as does the water from the new system we purchased. Our continuing research led us to believe that reverse osmosis is not as healthy a choice as another system we found. We were seriously annoyed,too, by the current installer. That was the reason we began checking out other possibilities. We do not trust San Diego water. The filtering system we are using now is providing water that tastes delicious. All are excellent and perform just as well as Jeff promised, or better. The service we have from him is likewise superb; he returns phone calls very quickly and gives excellent advice. We like his products so much, and his service, that when we needed to buy another mattress, for an apartment in Manhattan at our daughter and son-in-law's place (for our bedroom there) we bought it from Seagull and had it shipped. pros...this place is great, a little hole in the wall but packed with good stuff. he says he carries some of the best products in the world. i was in search of a new vacuum cleaner, and he is one of the few places that actually has sebo and miele vacuums in stock. both are german vacuums, and those germans take their engineering seriously and these vacuums really suck, but in a good way. he also has a lot of other stuff: water filters, beds, pillows, pots and pans, foot ware and other things besides vacuums. he has two lovely dogs who sleepily lay there and just watch people come in and out. best part is that they provide their own in-store credit. which is how i bought my new vacuum the sebo. i think i will be going back to get the water filters as well. cons...a bit disheveled inside but he knows where everything is, which is great. didn't offer too much on my old vacuum, so i didn't leave it as a trade in. but still got an awesome vacuum, and he is a authorized dealer for both miele and sebo. read more

I have been a long time customer of Jeff, but no longer. In the past we bought a washer and dryer, mattress, water filtration system and vacuum. While Jeff is very energetic and accommodating when he senses a sale, his backend service is less than desired. I have had issues with three of the products I have bought and had to work out solutions on my own. My vacuum hose still doesn't work correctly and Jeff has not helped. Recently I ordered a stacking unit for my Miele washer and dryer. I ordered it in stainless to match but when it came time to install, the unit was white. Jeff never accepted blame for the incorrect order...he told me most people order the unit in white so he assumed that was what I wanted. He eventually made a swap but charged me an additional $80 as he said he had to pay shipping to and from Miele. Additionally, I found out I could have purchased the unit directly from Miele in the first place at less cost. I normally try to support local small businesses but I will no longer support or recommend Jeff. I just cannot trust him. read more

I am reporting Seagull Distribution to the Better Business Bureau. I purchased 3 products from them: a Miele vacuum ( only lasted 3 years) , a whole house water softener system ( breaks down every few months- and not currently working) and a whole house water purification system. After being told I could make payments until the purchase price was paid in full- they continued to bill me for the water purification system stating that I was on a 'rental agreement' for the purification system- not a purchase plan. Seagull continued to bill and discredit me erroneously on my credit report after I paid in full. I returned the system to Seagull and told them that I already had paid 3x the going price for the same system that was offered at other locations in SD including filter service. Seagull is still to this day charging me for the purification system. When asked for an accounting of my payments- I received an illegible hand written accounting from his bookkeeper that we could not read nor understand. read more
