Do not use this company! I was trying to use the deal advertised on their site for a $99 duct cleaning with free dryer vent cleaning (up to 10 vents). The technician came to the house, took the vent covers off, went outside to look at the A/C unit then came back to the door and told me it would be $1000. Nothing in the fine print of the advertisement says anything about any extra fees unless it is over the allotted amount of vents you are paying for. This has to be illegal. Buyers Beware! We recently contacted Sears Air Duct Cleaning to get an estimate for cleaning the air ducts in our home. The technician who came did an inspection of our HVAC and vents. The quoted price to provide this service was $1,569. The advertisement we received stated a price for the number of vents we have as being $460. Not only was this a bait and switch issue, but the technician took our system humidifier apart to inspect, and did not return the filter into the unit. He said the filter was not necessary and only caused a mold build-up. Later that afternoon our utility room and the basement floor flooded due to the condensation not flowing through the filter as intended, and into the condensation pump. It took us several hours, nine towels, and four fans to dry the floor. It was a mess! The plank flooring still has water seeping up when you walk on it. The humidifier fan housing was also broken by the technician in his attempt to take it apart. I had to use tape to hold the fan housing in place in the humidifier in order for it to work. Sears was contacted immediately when we discovered the problem. They have been no help whatsoever, even after four phone calls and numerous messages. This was terreble experience! I dont know how these people are still in bussiness. I scheduled an appointment with them for may 30th, they did not show up, they did not call, inform or anything, just did not show up. I called them again and they came on june 6th. I asked the guy to put on shoe covers and he was rude about saying "show me first what I need to clean". I said put on you shoe covers so I can show you. I asked him to be carefull with my paint, because I recently painted the house, I helped him out with his bucket of water, but he did a sloppy job in my master bedroom, the dirt was still on my carpet. I was impatient and wanted my carpets done quick. Sears had an opening on the weekend so I booked them for the 8-12 slot. The technician arrived at 8:45am but had the wrong equipment. I have a 2nd level condo and he did not come with the portable machine. He said someone from the company would call me in the next 10 minutes to reschedule. I waited 20 minutes after his departure for the call and then ended up calling them 3 times over the next couple of hours before I finally got in contact with someone. The lady was apologetic and explained she was the only one working dispatch. She also told me that I had been rescheduled to 1pm with the portable machine. I waited around until 1:20pm and then called them back to make sure they were still coming. I got the same lady, more apologies, and this time was told she couldn't contact the technician but knew they were out in Gainesville and they'd be heading to me next. The guy finally called me at 2:37pm. The first thing he did was walk around the unit and point out a spot where he suggested a stronger chemical treatment. I told him flat out if it was extra I wasn't interested because I'd been waiting around all day for Sears and I didn't wanna throw any more money their way. Their website advertised 4 rooms and a hallway for $129 with No Hidden Fees. But what they don't tell you up front, or in the order summary they send you via email, is that there is a $15 service fee. How is that not included in the overall price?! I guess the carpets are cleaner now but I still have all the furniture dents. I probably should have gone with someone else and paid a bit more for steam cleaning but I wanted to give Sears a try despite all the bad reviews because the price was competitive. I have used Sears for years in every home. I presently use them in nova and a secondary home in Florida, BUT NEVER AGAIN! Yesterday they came to clean my basement. I paid for four areas, and a free hallway. I only had 3 areas. I figured the extra areas I was paying for would take care of the stairs. I paid close to $180 for 3 small basement rooms. They came in immediately trying to up-charge . I was not home, they made my housekeeper sign a waver they they weren't coming back because there were stains. Mind you the stains were normal nothing unusual, just from shoes. They used a push cart method not truck mounted, so the carpet was left wet, not damp as when the truck mounted system leaves a carpet. They refused to clean the few stairs in the basement. They did such a bad job, I still have wet carpets, and dirty stairs! I had to hire another carpet cleaner to come today! No manager would talk to me at 4 pm on Friday. If I could give zero stars, I would give zero stars. We moved out of our townhouse and needed to get carpets cleaned prior to putting house on the market. We scheduled to have Sears come the morning that our property was going on the market. The carpet cleaning 'technicians' arrived in the scheduled two hour window and told us it would take an hour to complete. We left to run an errand and came back a half hour later and they were gone, but they did not conduct any carpet cleaning. Seriously, they didn't even make it look like they tried. There was no smell, no lines, and the carpets weren't even wet. However, they did manage to take the check that we left. We immediately called customer service and they refused to send anyone back to remedy the situation. Talking to the 'quality control' at the customer service center was literally one of the worst experiences of my life and I will never get those 90 minutes back. They refused to guarantee that they would not deposit the check, so I had to cancel the check with my bank. After an incredibly rushed job of air duct cleaning in our townhouse (with 22 air ducts), we were left with carbon monoxide in the home. The technicians backed their work truck all the way up to the garage & filled the entire townhouse, of 4 floors, with car exhaust. The work truck was running the entire time they were here performing the job. Minutes after they left, our house alarm started going off stating it detected carbon monoxide in the basement which is actually the first floor where the garage is. Then moments later, the fire department was here with their portable carbon monoxide detectors which were reading extremely high levels. They even found high levels in the fourth floor loft. They all complained that it smelled like car exhaust in the home & asked if I had left a car running in the garage. Once I explained that Sears had just left before the alarm went off, they strongly suggested we'd call Sears to complain of their recklessness. We could all have been dead if it were not for our alarm. A family with young children & pets. Of course, after calling Sears & insisting on speaking with a manager (which proved tough in itself), the call center manager informed us that they would immediately investigate & give us a call first thing in the morning. Deon or Dion from Quality Control called us the following morning & was completely opposite of what we were hoping for. He was rude, abrasive, & chock full of bad attitude. He had no intention of apologizing or showing any empathy for our ordeal. He even implied that we were lying. He also said he never investigated it as we were told they would, but he did say he would later that day. But he had no reason to call us back, he said. All he cared about was that the job was completed. We never once asked for our money back. Our goal is to prevent from this ever happening again. This occurred on 5/11/2017 & we will not let this go. First the good part, the technicians are fantastic. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and do great work. If everything goes as planned, i.e. the techs arrive during the appointed time and you are charged correctly, everything goes well. The problem is if you have to deal with the office staff, namely Mr. Green, the dispatch manger, there will be issues. Mr. Green feels it's an acceptable practice to arbitrarily change people's appointment windows, without notice. Of course accompanied with this "excellent service" is a bad attitude. My appointment time was changed 3 times, without even a phone call, with one change occurring on a Saturday. Yeah, I planned to spend the entire day waiting for my service. The dispatchers have poor, if any, project management skills and are unable to properly schedule services. Why would anyone set an appointment in Arlington, VA for a tech that is in Frederick, MD, after 3 pm? A horrible dispatcher, that's who. Mr. Green is the weakest link, as far as customer interaction, and needs extensive training. Probably my worst service call ever. Sears technicians show up within the stated time frame - pleasant surprise. Off to a good start since I took a day off work to be home for this service. The service was for duct cleaning in my 3-level home with 15 vents. The lead technician starts telling me he can add dryer vent cleaning to the package. I say no, not needed. He then suggests I get a disinfectant service. I say "no, not needed. Just the duct cleaning, as scheduled, thanks." Sears technician says he needs to go to his van to get tools. Instead, they get into their van and drive away! No information, no call, no return. Nothing! Just leaves. Then I spend one hour trying to reach the Sears office in Lorton, and finally after an hour I get someone. She said the service was cancelled because the customer (me) didn't request additional services, and that they would not return to the home! Unbelievable. Don't waste your time on Sears duct cleaning. Not sure about carpet cleaning, but if it's anything like their duct cleaning it should be avoided at all costs. They want to sell additional, unneeded services and when you reject them, they refuse to complete the service they were originally called for. I have a BRAND NEW furnace and HVAC (less than 3 months old) Like everyone else, they "inspected" and found that the blower motor was "dirty" and therefore could not do the air duct cleaning unless I paid for their services to service a brand new furnance.
