TLDR: Based on the dishonesty of the business manager, WellNest gets one star. WellNest's business practices in how a client is charged seems unfair I was getting my house ready for sale and was told WellNest would do a great job. A crew of two arrived at the appointed time. When my husband made the appointment, he specified a 'move out' cleaning, and I personally stressed to the crew the windows, baseboards needed extra attention. I took for granted that when they arrived, they would know what they were supposed to clean, but in actuality, they diid not. It seemed they did a cursory wipe down of surfaces, most cabinets, and then mopped the bedroom and living room floors. The blinds were cleaned, but not all the windows. We still found dirty/dusty areas in the bathrooms and closets, and certaIn cabinet doors weren't even touched. They also didn't touch the kitchen floor, the stove, or the fridge. My husband reached out to the owner, Phil H via email, regarding the lack of attention to detail. Phil thanked my husband for emailing and not leaving a bad review, and assured my husband the work done by the team would be of no charge to us. BUT, we were still charged $351 - without any warning or further discussion with Phil. Another email was sent to Phil inquiring about this charge. Phil stated that the charge is just based on hours worked and the charge would have been higher had the crew stayed longer and been more attentive to the cleaning. Possibly the best experience I've ever had with a cleaning company. I've tried a fairly good number of companies to clean my home - most were fine but nothing that stood out, a few that damaged or broke things in my home (one banged a small hole in the wall with something and didn't tell me, another poured soapy water onto my gas cooktop to clean it and it exploded then they refused to fix it) so I know how hard it is to find a service that you trust and that goes above and beyond. The customer service when communicating with the owner was exemplary- the response time was quick and the questions were answered. The cleaning itself was exceptional. The time and attention to detail were impressive. My parents were visiting at the time of the cleaning, my mother asked if they could come to Richmond because she had never seen a crew do such a great job. After using this company for about a year with biweekly cleanings and trying a few different crews, we finally parted ways yesterday. In summary, my issue with them is that they don't clean all rooms they were paid to clean and take shortcuts with their work. Cleanings are fairly mediocre and we've only stuck with them for so long because their online booking system is easy, they take credit cards and use ppl who are legally entitled to work, which is a must for our household. We have a couple of bathrooms in our home that are not regularly used (in our guest bedroom and nursery) and believe that their teams do a sight inspection, deem them clean, and skip cleaning them altogether. I've confronted them about it (because I'm always home during cleanings) and they will pretty much lie to your face and say they've cleaned it even though inexplicably everything (floors, tub, sink) are all bone dry and little pieces of dirt, dust or dead little bugs still remain. They even left the long trail of toilet paper, which my daughter pulled out from the roll the night before, on the floor then proceeded to tell me that they "cleaned" that bathroom AND mopped, even though the paper was still on the floor and completely dry (like had they really mopped, shouldn't I have some mushy damp TP on the floor?!? Setting aside the threshold question of why the hell do I even still have toilet paper on my floor after a cleaning in the first place?) They fail to clean under furniture (even ours which are open underneath and light enough to push easily for a quick vac) and pour dirty water after floor moppings down your kitchen sink (yes, the SAME sink we use to prepare food and wash baby bottles!!!). ALL PHOTOS were taken right after a cleaning with Go Well Nest, so you can judge for yourself. To this company's credit, management does try to provide customer service and right a wrong, which they've tried with us on a number of occassions, but it's too bad that they have employees who just cut corners and then make up whatever accusations about you to their management and declare that "they refuse to work" at your home when you've been nothing but nice and respectful to them (and give them a holiday bonus and your child's hand me downs bc they just casually mention to you that their sister just had a newborn who happens to be the same sex as your child - ok, yeah so THAT'S not awkward) and all you do is ask them to do the work they are paid to do. read more

I used to clean my house, but during my pregnancy, decided F that: I want to watch Netflix and relax, so I started calling around to different cleaning companies to have them come by for a trial, so I knew which one to use postpartum when I was a mom and had to replace Netflix and relaxing with the complete opposite. After testing out SEVERAL (Lawwwd have mercy, there were too many failures!) I found Wellnest through my mom's group. Initially, I was like yeah, whatever, no cleaning company is that good. These must all be friends of the owner. But alas, WellNest is the best and I've been using them faithfully for almost 8 months! Scheduling and pricing is easy and upfront. I loved that I didn't have to waste my time with phone tag or some lady that barely understood the words that were coming out of my mouth when I had questions about the service. Their website is Mobile friendly (let the church say, Amen because legit who has time for computers anymore) and the owners and managers are responsive. Like, within hours responsive (or they answer the phone when you call!). To be honest, yeah it's cool they use organic, safe products, but I really love them because they're easy to communicate with. As a new mom, I don't have time for missed calls or last minute schedules, like the crap I faced with previous companies. Need to add a fridge cleaning to my order? Email, response 20 minutes later, or I can just add it through my account on the website. The owner is very, very easy to communicate with. After the crew leaves (and what's great is I've had the same ladies repeatedly over 8 months so they know what's up and what not to touch), I get an email the next day with a receipt (charge that credit card, get them miles!) and another email with the next date of service. Then a few days before my scheduled visit, a reminder. I'm usually always home when the crew comes because I have a psycho cat I need to put away, but when I can't be home, I just fire up their website, or contact the owner, and bam. Changed! No hidden fees, charges, blah blah blah. Literally a normal company. They've always come within the time frame - EXCEPT ONCE - but the owner sent me an email letting me know the previous job had taken longer. Eh, some people are messy, so shit happens. I appreciated the head's up. Lastly, they do a good job cleaning. And the rare, few times I've been like "meh" I've emailed the owner and he told the team to make sure they fix it next time. Previously cleaning companies just scraped the service, but WellNest crew gets down and dirty. For example, I lost a baby sock and I don't know what the crew did, but hot damn, they found it and put it on the table for me like here, look, your sock as returned. And they actually move stuff to clean it. One crew from another company literally mopped around the coffee table so you saw a circle of dust. Boo. We used WellNest for bi-weekly for 2-3 months. The cleaning was fine. Nothing extraordinary but they got the job done. Our most recent cleaning however, they damaged the granite countertop in the kitchen. A big chunk was missing from the edge! They did not report it to me and when I submitted a claim for it they denied it was them. I was less then pleased with how they handled the issue. I have NEVER been happier with a cleaning service! My first WellNest cleaning was a gift from a friend about 2 years ago. I thought I would be "one and done" but Phil and the team impressed me so much that I kept them on and have not been disappointed. The cleaning teams I have experienced are thorough and willing to accommodate my requests. I have always been comfortable with the team in my home and feel like the value for the work is appropriate. I have also used them for add-ons like refrigerator, oven and freezer cleaning and that has also been stellar. I heard about WellNest from an ArlNow post, and I had been considering hiring a monthly cleaning for my one bedroom apartment. My husband and I work full time and have pets, and every time we clean, we kick up a lot of dust and get allergies that last for days. I hadn't used a cleaning service before since we live in a cheap pre-war apartment and it seemed like hiring a cleaning company was an extravagant luxury. But it was getting to the point that I was willing to pay not to have to deal with dust and mold allergies, so I decided to give it a shot. I reached out to the owner through Yelp and got an instant reply. Plus, there was a really good deal at the time which brought the cost down to only $20 for the first cleaning. Sold! The booking was done via their website. The cleaning ladies called to ask if they could come a bit early, which was fine with me. They arrived and I let them in, and then left for lunch. They texted me when they were done and when I came back, my apartment looked amazing. They cleaned things that I didn't even think to clean. All the baseboards and corners of the apartment were dust-free. The couches were vacuumed. The bed was made, and the blinds dusted. My tub was completely clean, and I can't say I understand how that was even possible, since I spent the last weekend scrubbing it myself, only to be left with stains and sore arms. As far as cleaning goes, they do a decent job. But one thing made me quit using them last year and it was a big red flag. I gave them a key to keep -- the website says customers can give them a key "which we keep locked and secured." One day the crew accidentally left the key under our doormat instead of taking it with them. That was fine, no problem. I'm sure many other people leave keys under the doormat just for the day. Phil promptly emailed me that day, apologized for leaving the key behind and let me know to retrieve it from the hallway. No big deal, since I just left it under the mat for my next cleaning. Fast forward a couple months... I had a cleaning while I was on vacation. The apartment was nice and clean when I came home, so everything seemed fine until three weeks later. I picked up the mat in the hallway to shake it out and was surprised to find a key -- I stuck it in the lock and realized it was my apartment key! The one I had given to the cleaning crew! No one realized the key hadn't been returned after the cleaning. No one called to let me know it had been left behind. No one said anything to me. The key to my front door had been sitting under a mat in the hallway where anyone could grab it for almost a month, and no one at WellNest noticed it was gone. Talk about a safety risk. read more

The BEST cleaning service out there! I get Bi-Weekly cleanings and they honestly leave my home spotless. They're always on time or when they do run late it is always no more than 15 minutes plus a quick notification by management . The owner and operations manager are great communicators when there is an issue or concern. They always leave a smile on my face. They always consider my needs and answer my questions with such ease. We've been getting our home professionally cleaned for a few years now. The other service was working ok until I got pregnant last year and questioned what products they use. It's amazing how many things you shouldn't be exposed to when pregnant, and it begs the question of why is it ok for us to be exposed to those things when not pregnant? I did a ton of research on bleach and other typical household products and encourage you to do the same. There's a reason why the fumes make you cough and burn your eyes - it's a bunch of poisonous and deadly liquids and gases that are cancer-causing, related to infertility, birth defects, respiratory issues, the list goes on and on. Enter WellNest, a company I've found to be very honest and transparent and one that truly uses human/pet-safe products - they fully disclose the products and ingredients of everything they use on their site. I've spoken with the owner a few times -- he's a new dad, and you can tell he has very high integrity. Other natural cleaning companies I explored made blanket statements to me like, "we use green products" or "we use natural products", but couldn't say anything more. It's unfortunate that we have to part ways, because the owners are very courteous and responsive and I also like that they are a young couple that had a great business idea and made it happen. However, it makes no sense for me to spend money on terrible cleaning that I've experienced from their staff in the last 3 months. I wish I could get my money back! I used WellNest for a move-in cleaning (empty house) of a new home I recently purchased. The scheduling was simple, and I was informed of the type of cleaning and prices associated with a move in cleaning. I was not home during the cleaning, but when I arrived, it was not clear to me that anything had been cleaned. The refrigerator, oven, cabinets, and bathroom were either completely untouched or poorly cleaned. I spoke with the owner, who was extremely courteous and he offered to come by personally the next morning. After inspecting the second cleaning, I saw that the oven, refrigerator and bathroom had been cleaned. However when we wiped out the cabinets (this was part of the move-in cleaning service), they were filthy, as if they had not been touched. After speaking with the owner via email, he informed me that he had personally cleaned the cabinets. I told him that, if that was the case, they were cleaned poorly. I requested a discount (not a full refund) for the service, which he did not provide. This cleaning company attempted to clean my house two times, but either did not clean certain things or cleaned them poorly. Love WellNest, best home cleaning service we've ever used. We've used them for eight months now, and their teams do an excellent job cleaning my home, the pricing is very reasonable, and the customer service is fantastic. For instance, when the county turned off the water to our block with no notice during a cleaning and there were a few small details the crew couldn't finish, the owner offered to have them come back the next day at no cost to me to finish, even though it wasn't even remotely their fault. They're also proactive about rescheduling cleanings that would fall on holidays when they're closed, which I otherwise would have forgotten and then been annoyed with myself when we missed a cleaning. I also appreciate their employment practices and how they respect their crews. I had an opportunity to chat with the owner about this, and really respected the fact that he was honest and upfront that things might happen like a cleaning needing to be rescheduled because a crew member had to call out, and he wasn't going to threaten them with losing their job because their child was sick. So any reader can read all of the laudable reviews of Wellnest. All of those reviews (except the very poorly written and grammatically incorrect one star one) are very similar to this review. I was at first very very hesitant to change to Wellnest after using a competitor for close to 10 years. I was not disappointed. I can factually state that Wellnest does an outstanding job. Recently I order the full package (window cleaning, oven cleaning, and fridge cleaning) due to guests coming to stay with us. Not only did I have that service, but it was complicated by the fact that my spouse had a broken foot and really could not move around the house easily. The staff was simply wonderful and incredibly diligent. I am very happy with their use of tech on the website also...very very easy to use. The communication is also par none. The owner is incredibly accessible and he and I have communicated back and forth many times. What is very very important to me (as one who works in a sensitive position in government) is that all the staff are documented and legal to work in the United States. As such, if you also work in a sensitive position, this is also the company for you! read more

The most unprofessional and difficult cleaning service I have ever encountered. Repeated problems with showing up on time, even within a window, and with communications. I scheduled the first cleaning and the crew was early. I was on a conference call, so this was a problem. The computer then rescheduled my weekly cleanings because of a problem with its algorithm, so my place did not get cleaned when I had planned. I contacted Phil Harper, and he apologetic, but couldn't fit me in for almost another week. The last straw was right before Thanksgiving. There is a three hour window in which they are supposed to arrive. I got an email indicating they were coming three hours in advance of that window. Basically, they reserved the right to come anytime that day. I rearranged my schedule. That morning, I received an email saying they were running a hour late. Fine, I could adjust. I came home 5 hours later and they had just arrived and hadn't begun the cleaning! There were always a lot of excuses, and I'm sure running a small business is hard, but this is unprofessional. When I suggested that it was unprofessional, he said that what was unprofessional was rotating the undocumented through people's homes. Just want to update with my five star rating still standing. I moved from my rental apartment into a new home, and the process to switch over was very easy. The ladies continue to do a great job on each clean. They also did a pretty intense move out cleaning of my rental apartment. I was a little afraid that after living there for so long with two cats there would be some damages - and I didn't pay a security deposit so I really didn't want to be charged out of pocket. I'm a young professional who is busy starting my career and moved into the area about a year ago. I don't have time to deep clean my apartment and if I do I'm too exhausted.
