Charged me 114 dollars to tell me the refrig cannot be repaired cause no parts available. However, they could have checked the serial before they came, then told me that over phone and save 114. Also, what they did not tell me was that when control board goes, the compressor will automatically blow out if you keep using it. David arrived in time, just after 8am. He noted that we were going to "smell some refrigerant" and started work after we moved some items around, so he'd have more room to work. Shortly after he started, he came upstairs and asked if it was possible to "open the basement windows". When I went down to try to do so, I found a "cloud" of refrigerant. The concern was that my wife has her sewing studio in the basement with many finished fabric products and yards and yards of fabric to use for upcoming craft shows as this is a secondary income for her/us. We believe that the fabrics and items will "air out" when we hang them outside or re-wash and then hang outside but we're disappointed that we weren't made aware of the extensive amount of refrigerant clouding that would occur. read more

Tech Arrived without parts to complete repairs. He should have known which parts to bring because this was a 4th revisit for the same repair. This service request has lasted 45 days and remains incomplete. He offered no quick solution. After each failed repair the next appointment was a week to 10 days later. Every aspect of this service from scheduling, inability to speak to a supervisor, and use of their virtual customer service is poor. I will not recommend Sears Home Service to anyone. read more

The first technician that was sent out was very rude and short and when my wife asked him why was it taking so long he he literally ran out of door without even looking at her . All he did was order parts and reschedule us for 3 weeks further out. The parts got here within a week. We still had wait another 2 weeks before we got he service tech to put them in The second technician sent out to work on my refrigerator was a young man named Ron he was excellent. I gladly give him a five star​​recommendation for an excellent repair. He was polite and he was easy to talk to . As far as Sears warranty company. My refrigerator went down in late November, today is January 10th and it is finally fixed . It should not take 5 weeks to get a refrigerator repaired. We were supposed to have a ser call on Saturday, March 9. I received an email on Friday, March 8 stating someone would call to ask questions about our furnace and that someone would be out on Saturday from 8:00-5:00. We were out of town and had to make special arrangements for this and no one showed up, called or messaged us. it is very hard to get a hold of someone through you guys. I sent a message on Saturday for someone to contact us but to no avail. We made a call to our home warranty company on Monday to get someone out. They gave us a new company and then I get a message saying you are on your way. Again we had to find someone because we were at work. I'm very disappointed with your company. read more

The serviceman was to be here March 2 but told me all of the packages were not delivered. We rescheduled for Friday, March 8. He called in the morning to say he was on his way but the packages were not all here. I let him know my husband opened and organized multiple packages and all is here. He arrived and said he could not do the job independently. Shouldn't he have know if he could do this solo or not? He organized another person to help and they retuned two hours later. He then got working and said he did not have the correct tools. My husband asked what he needed and the worker said a 10 mm socket wrench. My husband told him to go buy one, you have two guys here, I took half a day of work off, let's get this done. They left a mess on the floor and black sludge in the sink and left some of his tools. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I paid $400 to repair my dryer and it never was repaired. The tech came out and said that he needed to order a part and would be back a week later, so I paid $400 and rescheduled the appointment. When the next tech came out he said the diagnostic was wrong and the repair would be another $400. $800!! I told him if I had know I was going to be charged $800 I would have decided on buying a new dryer. He refused to give me my money back and said they diagnosed it so I have to pay. My washer was misdiagnosed. Had I known the correct problem, I would have saved two weeks' time and would have bought a new washer right away. Instead, I was told to order certain parts and had to wait an additional 10 days from the first service call to have it fixed. Then I was told, OOPS, that wasn't the problem, this was and it would cost $900+ to fix. So, I was left with waiting for a refund for what I already paid minus the "labor" charge for the misdiagnosis. Finding out that a vent cover is cosmetic and it feel in my dish that I was baking did not make me very happy so it was not covered under the warranty. Joseph Wilson did not even attend to repair the HVAC Magic Pak unit. He accepted the service request from Choice Home Warranty but didn't do anything. He just came in and walked away. The "technician" they sent did not know how to check the temperature of the refrigerator and did not give me any diagnosis, he told me that he did not work with Samsung refrigerators, very bad service, I just gave away my money for nothing. Oscar G was honest and shared that the part would take 7-10 days to arrive. The technician also shared that there is catcher trap that needs to be cleaned by the pump. This was not done at the time of initial service call. This was not done at ANY of the service calls. Not the initial service call when I called Sears and the warranty service was offered to me. I was charged a full priced service call, parts and labor. The returning service provider did not clean the catcher next to the pump either. Only the pump(or said he did...as the old pump appears brand new). I ordered the replacement part for the door(from Amazon) ariving next day! and cleaned the catcher myself. After reviewing the invoice, I am completely disillusioned, saddened, and to be honest I feel defrauded. We waited almost SIX WEEKS for Sears to fix our refrigerator, a 6 year old Kenmore "Elite" made by LG that retailed for more than $4,000. Of course we had to pay upfront for everything. The worst service in the world!!!! I have been paying monthly payments for years and I finally needed my oven repaired. They came out, stated I needed some parts. The parts where then ordered and then a few weeks later they set up an appointment to come out to repair it. The technician never shows up. So far I've had no oven for two months. I have had them out multiple times to fix my refrigerator which still is broken. they've been out a few times to fix my dishwasher which ended up leaking and ruining my sub flooring cracking my tile. I am definitely discontinuing the monthly payments for coverage for appliances at my house just due to the severe poor service. I thought they were reputable by their name only, but after my experience, I'm convinced they just hire fast food workers and give them YouTube as training. My dryer drum stopped turning, I called them to fix and the first tech said it just needed to be cleaned... 1 hr after he left the dryer broke again. I called and they said a second tech would come that same day to fix.... never did... called again and they scheduled another appointment the week after. The second tech said I needed a new belt. I received an email requesting a review of my recent repair so here goes...I didn't have a recent repair BUT I'm still waiting for a part for a repair since January 25th, 2023. This part is to repair the same problem/part that was done in November 2022 on a 2 1/2 yr old refrigerator. I scheduled an appointment online and made arrangements to be home during the repair window. I received a call that the technician was downstairs and didn't know where to park. We live downtown so I let the representative know where available parking was and she hung up on me before I could let her know I was also willing to cover the cost for parking. I went downstairs to try to find the tech myself but couldn't find him. After waiting for half an hour I checked my email and found that literally 2 minutes after that phone call they emailed me an appointment cancellation notice. I called customer service I was informed that their documentation said that the tech's truck was towed. There's no way that happened in 2 minutes time and while he was in his truck. I understand that "the city" might be inconvenient for some or take a little more effort but to make up lies is ridiculous. I would never use this service. read more

On June 13, Richard was supposed to come to my house to repair a refrigerator (had a defrost issue but it was still working), but he called in sick. Someone called me (Christopher maybe?) half way through the day of the original appointment and said they had to reschedule. Because this is a rental property, and I want to protect my tenant from any possible Covid spreading, I requested a different technician. They told me June 20 was the next available date with someone else. I accepted. On June 20, the technician arrived, and I found out it was the same technician that was previously sick. Not only did Sears send the wrong technician and go against my wishes to help protect my tenant, the technician gave an estimate of about $450 labor plus parts. This is a job I called two other contractors to quote and they said it would take about an hour. When I called Sears dispatch to take care of the problem, they said they would call me back in an hour but they never did. Now the refrigerator doesnt work at all and everything had to be thrown away. I dont know what the technician did but he broke the refrigerator completely. This is unacceptable. This company is terrible, from the technicians, to the dispatch office. And over the last week I've received two calls from Sears companies to get both an extended warranty service as well as to replace my roof, siding, windows, doors, and heating/air conditioning. I contracted with them to replace the floor in my kitchen, dinning room, and washroom. also ordered a new vanity ($3000) for the washroom. I signed the order 12/20/19. I expected a crew to do the job. one man showed up. a 2 day job took 5 days, some sub floor built into the cost estimate wasn't necessary, a refund was due for the work not performed. the installer ran out of material, said someone would be back to finish soon. as of March 14th I'm still waiting. a check for $500 is due & 20 feet of 1/4 round is due. the work that WAS done is satisfactory. the waiting for completion & refund is totally unacceptable. Now, the day after Thanksgiving I get an email to write a review for service we had on 11/20. We had no service on 11/20 nor does our wash machine work since prior Labor Day weekend when we started contacting Sears. The first technician came for a service call but never returned. We had no contact from anyone for three weeks before we started to call and when we finally got through we found he was not coming back because it was too big of a job for one person. A two person team came a week later and ordered parts. When they returned to repair the washer they broke another part that is no longer made. My wonderful wife has now been on hold for over twelve hours on this tragedy already and we're about done. I've worked with Sears for almost 40 years but I'm done. Pilot light went out on our 50 gallon Kenmore water heater sometime during the night. I could light it but it wouldn't stay lit. Decided (my mistake) that it was a bad thermocouple. Tech arrived same day, tracked mud from the back door to the heater in the basement and I have a finished basement with tile floors. Explained what I had done to light the pilot. Then he simply pushed in a reset button on a heat sensor for the burner chamber and relit the pilot which now stayed lit. Ten second fix, $154. I thought he might give me some kind of a break but no chance. Blame myself for not checking a video on YouTube which included checking that switch. Explaining this for anyone who might run across the same problem so that you can save your hard earned money and push the reset yourself! Also a deliberate crime there was nothing in the instructions for lighting the pilot that included checking the thermal cutoff switch which by the way is tucked in between two wires on the switch. read more

Diagnosed the problem quickly, had a colleague drive the needed part over from Delafield(?) while he took care of another call on the East Side.
