I was super happy. they had a deal going on at the point and I could get another backup glass for less than $150. After a month, we picked up that as well. It was all great. We visited in between for some adjustments and they did it so well. Now when it comes to my glasses, I picked up a frame, they checked my insurance and they did the math - it came around $600. I asked the guy who helped me why it's that costly, I had never paid more than $200 for my glasses ever. He said there are some changes to my prescription and for those glasses my insurance is not covering much. He showed me a few options and finally I ordered mine. I went there again for another pair - this time a reading glass - nothing fancy. It was another person who helped me this time. With a decent frame, it came around $400. I was curious when I saw that amount. He mentioned that my insurance is charging out-of-netwok - that's the reason the cost is high. Then I asked him to check my order - which is already in processing. He confirmed that I was charged the out of network rate - which the first person never mentioned it to me. I ended up canceling that order and did my orders elsewhere - costed me $145 and $120. I never understood why they hid the fact that insurance is charging at out-of-network rate. I understand that customer may not have checked whether LensCrafters fall under in-network or out of network. These are grey areas which change every year when you renew / change the insurance. Why don't they show the minimal courtesy to inform the customers about these details. You may get a few orders, but how long will you get on with it??? Never again!

Why the 3-star reviews from everyone? I just had an amazing experience with Josh (btw, a 17-year…read moreemployee in this LensCrafters location.) Not only was he extremely knowledgeable of how glasses should fit, but he wasn't afraid to suggest a different frame if it didn't "look right" for my face. He shared the benefits of bi-focal (over my habit of having reader-only glasses and a separate pair to correct my normal vision.) It was a GREAT experience from the minute I arrived till the time I left 90 minutes later. Best of all, he was very patient!

Costco is a corporation so its unlikely they will make changes unless it comes from above, but my…read morelow rating is due their lack of transparency in terms of pricing. I made an appointment for contacts because of convenience and the price (145 dollars). However once I actually arrived for the examination, I was told it would be an extra 30-50 dollars to get my contacts fitted even if I knew what contacts I liked. So really I was looking at 195 dollars. I made it clear that this was ridiculous and they should have told me about this earlier. The doc was nice to give me a slight discount. Anyways while the doctor was knowledgeable be aware that contact examination will likely be a 195$ instead of 145$. Having hidden cost is ridiculous.

As a senior my vision is important to my balance and ability to interact with the world around me. I highly recommend them. My appointment was with Jessica Vuong, OD. She was very thorough, professional, and communicative, with a kindly manner. Her exam and care for me was exceptional. The Costco crew who ordered and fit the glasses were great as well: efficient, professional, patient, and friendly. They are first come, first serve, so weekdays are best. I was there on a Wednesday mid-afternoon and had little wait. I have previously ordered glasses online and had dubious results. I appreciate anew having someone fit me in-person, plus their pricing is comparable.

My husband's grandparents went there, my in-laws went there, my husband and I go there, and I will take my daughter there for her new frames. Eyeglass frames and lenses are so expensive, and that can be really frustrating, so I recently tried to go the "cheap" route and order glasses from Warby Parker. BIG MISTAKE. First of all, I took my prescription in and the guy asked me, "is this a distance prescription or a reading prescription?" Um, I don't know? Isn't that your job to figure out? I had Warby Parker replace my lenses two separate times and I literally cannot see out of them. I have better vision with my own bare eyes. Finally I just acquiesced and went back to Sherman Optical. They are not cheap, but if you want glasses that actually help, are high quality, and which the staff will help you with for years to come, Sherman Optical is by far the best option.
