The deceit could improve. Initially went to restart my account. The person was late coming to the door to start with. She began by trying to upsell me when I specifically told her what I wanted and that I was also there to have my free birthday tan. I then told her I needed to add a skin care product and if possible to get one that I could use for both red light and tanning and on my face. She made the selection and told me it was good for that. Then there was another customer next to me and one that had come in and sat down, my person had me sign authorization to pull the funds then told me what I was being charged for. She was continually getting involved with the customer next to me that came in after me and was helping the other employee help the other customer, maybe the other employee was new. She then took my payment and said "okay, you're all set" and began to fully help the other customer and the other employee. I asked "what room am I going to?" She said "um, oh, room 11 or six then said 11." I went completed my tan and left. The next time I came in, I said "i would like to do a red light session and a tan" she said "well, you will probably want to add a package then for tanning," I said "um no, I only plan to tan maybe 3 times, so, no, I am not adding a package for that." Then I asked "don't I get 50% off because I have the red light package?" She paused, looked very irritated and said "yes." I said "okay then I want to add a single tan, then I verified how many credits I had available and she said $240. I said okay charge me my 50% from that. Today I just so happened to call the wrong store but asked the person who answered "what day of the month do I need to put my account on hold?" She said today is the day because funds get pulled tomorrow. I said thank you and went up to the Pearl st. location. I had a feeling the same girl that I have had problems with since day 1 would be there and sure enough, there she stood. I said two things, I would like to buy some non-tanning lotion that has hyaluronic acid and collagen and I also need to freeze my account. I will not be able to come back for a few months. She said well you signed an agreement that states you have to allow one pull. I asked "what agreement,? She then held up some laminated full size contract type thing and said I went o er this with you," I said "no, you absolutely did not." I would have been aware of that and would not have come up here wasting my time if I knew that." She said "I have worked here for quite some time and I don't miss any steps." I said "well you missed that one and maybe because you were so busy helping someone else, I had to even ask what room I was going to?" Needless to say she said well I will contact customer service and talk to them about it, I said "no, I want to talk to them." (Am I not the customer?) she wrote down a number and said well there is only one person so you'll have to be patient and wait. I said oh I am sure you will be able to talk to her right after I leave she said "yeah." I said I think this is probably illegal and then left the business, I called as soon as I as I got to my car two hours ago and of course there will be no call so that they can collect funds for services that I can't use right now for the next few months. I doubt I will hear from the customer service rep and if so they will have already formed their bias opinion. I have read reviews since coming home about this same person and lying. I went to go get a spray tan yesterday and the lady who helped me with super nice, but when I called today because my spray tan turned out super splotchy, I was talking on the phone with whoever was working and asking why my spray tan turned out like this because it came out really bad and I could tell right after this spray tan that it didn't go on smoothly and explain to her that I've gotten plenty of spray tans. I just usually go to desert suntan and how I was confused, but she said that my last spray tan from Seattle suntan was yesterday and then six years ago, I then proceeded to tell her how I usually go to desert suntan and she said the only thing that they can do is tell me to wash it off. I was being super nice and she was being super sassy pretty much saying that there was nothing that she could do. Go to Desert Sun, the employees there are a lot nicer and would definitely refund me if my tan came out looking like this. read more

Really poor service. I haven't tanned for years and I went in to buy a spray tan for an event. Apparently because I didn't properly cancel a membership when I was in high school, they wouldn't let me buy a spray tan unless I spend over $100. Seattle Sun Tan used to be really amazing for customer service but it's clearly gone downhill. Went down the street to Desert Sun in UP and they were so much more friendly and accommodating! read more

I'm writing this review because I almost didn't go to this business based on the reviews. I have had interactions with 4 employees so far and they have been wonderful. They are super informative, responsive and respectful. I've experienced this and have seen this behavior to others as well. It is very clean and you see them cleaning after every guest which is the standard. I would highly recommend this business and location(Tacoma). read more

What sort of weird people work here? Unfortunately the staff at the 26th Pearl st is condescending, unprofessional, and rude. After 3 successful tanning sessions they mistakenly had me in a session for far too long. As a result I was very badly burned- to the point of blistering. When I told management about my experience, "Dom" immediately referred to the legal agreement and blamed me. I told him I wasn't trying to sue anyone, just pointing out what happened. He got very condescending and told me I was being aggressive as he pointed his finger at me. When I told him I would like to quit my membership, he tried to make fun of my "life decisions." I walked in a few days before a trip to Mexico just looking to get some base tan - didn't really need a monthly type membership being as I was leaving town. The various packages and specials were overwhelming at first but the very genuine young lady Ariel answered all my questions and helped me get started. The facility is extremely clean and has a nice atmosphere. The red light therapy I'd also been interested in.... Ariel was knowledgable about and she helped me select a complimentary tanning bed to go with some regenerative red light that would give me some color but not burn me at all. Just a great experience overall with top notch customer service I forgot existed. I'll be back soon. read more

I have been here several times in the past for an airbrush tan and had great results and a good experience. Evidently, the manager left and your can tell. I called a few days before to make an appointment. They girl said the computer was down and she would call me back later to confirm my appointment. I called back 2 hours later and she said the computer was still down. I called the next day, after getting no call back, and was told "sorry about that." At this point, I was not too confident and looked around for another place to get a spray tan, but unfortunately for me, most of them are closed the day of the week I need an appointment. I decided to go against my gut and do the airbrush. I came 5 minutes early to my appointment. They told me a walk in was getting ready to spray and it would be at least 15 minutes. While I waited, the 3 girls, who were dressed and looked like they rolled out of bed, talked about what they didn't like about the other people that worked there. The airbrush lady never asked how dark I wanted or anything along that line, which the gentleman before had. Finally got into the room. She had not wiped it down between me and the last woman. She just told me a room number. Did not show me where anything was or offer towel/robe/hair net as other tan person had before. She LITERALLY flipped over the towel the woman had used on the bottom of the spray booth before me and reused it with me. The tan itself turned out ok. Not as dark as I wanted it. I guess that is a positive. Will not be back. Super unprofessional and unclean. I can only imagine how dirty those tanning beds are. UPDATE: I got the message from Seattle Sun Tan saying they would contact me "to make this right" and I never heard from them. I think they posted that just to make themselves look better. I really love going to this SST location, but I felt that tonight [when added to the recent nights I've been going] deserved a new review. I understand the sales industry. I've worked a lot in sales atmospheres, especially where retail is involved. Hell, I used to manage an Origins store. But there comes a point where it's pure disrespect to continue to beat a customer who's already paying down to pay more or buy more. Every day I go in they attempt to sell me products. They're nice, but not so nice after you tell them that's okay. I know what's working for me, and I don't need 5 different bottles of body lotion and 15 different aftercare lotions. I'm not stubborn, and I'll listen to the pitch and usually they'll sell me on it.. but I'm not paying $149 for a 400mL bottle of lotion when I can get it from an online source that actually sells the real deal for wholesale price. Tonight the five girls working decided to 'test' my product by dispensing it on their hands and sniffing and rubbing it in and then to my face lotion finding it to 'appear' legitimate. Then they told me my body lotion was fake because when they shook the bottle it was a different sound... Wait, what? Did you never learn basic physics? You're comparing a SOUND from a half-used bottle to the SOUND of a full bottle.. and saying that it is different and therefore fake, only because I have a cheap source of tanning lotions. Is it not enough that I've spent hundreds here on a college student's paycheck? I'm treated like I'm a broke-ass who comes in to sponge off the free week of tanning thing because I don't have a need to put $200 down on my tanning account. It's now become super off-putting and I just might switch to a different tanning chain altogether. read more

Let's see... I had a membership here and would go between the Pearl Street and 6th Ave locations. Both seemed clean and updated, and I rarely had issues with the actual tanning beds. The price was fine (about $19/month for unlimited "lower level" beds) for my purposes. I use tanning in the winter for a healthy dose of light and to keep my complexion clear; I'm a once-a-week user. Helps with the winter blues. Their salespeople are extremely pushy, and quite rude when you turn them down. Do they make commission? It must be so if they go from nice to cold in a few seconds after being turned down. I had to insist they make a note on my account to stop trying to sell me lotion. I'm extremely allergic to lotion, mostly fragrance, and I'll never spend $75+ on lotion that 1) doesn't actually do anything since my skin tans just fine on it's own and 2) makes me break out with hives. No thank you. I was as polite as possible, but it was every flipping time. They try to sell this garbage to uneducated people by using snake-oil science and pushy tactics. Nope, nope, nope. Now, let's get to the terrible business practices. I was extremely sick and ended up in the hospital. I didn't want my bills going crazy, and since I had to take some time off work, the first to go is the tanning expenditure. I can't use it, being in the hospital and all, so I need to cancel. I called four times trying to cancel this stupid membership. They kept telling me I needed to come in and cancel in person. I can't! I'm literally in a hospital. I'm getting surgery. "Okay, uh, but that's the only way we can cancel. You'll have to come in." Literally the only answer I'd receive. So? I decided to just cancel my debit card. Take that, Seattle Sun Tan. read more

I had not been tanning in over 5 years, so we a little intimidated by all the new options, beds, spray tanning, etc. But the girls at Seattle Sun Tan were very helpful and professional. After buying a two week package and tanning lotion it came out to $120 - which I thought was a little expensive, but I blame that on the tanning lotion. The unlimited two-week package gives you access to everything including all level beds, mystic tan, and their spray tanning service. Walk-in only, but I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes. read more

I just bought a membership here last week, and I'll be canceling it after my first auto-debit in December (the contract that I signed stipulates that you cannot cancel before that date). It's not that Seattle Sun Tan is terrible. I've been to a few tanning salons over the years, and they are all guilty of the weirdly high pressure sales tactics from people who cannot possibly be over 22 years old. I had high hopes for this location, because the girl who initially signed me up didn't try to upsell me hardly at all. However, I went in a few days ago, and experienced the type of persistent, grating, demanding pitch to use my upgrades, and to buy this new lotion that's just *such a good deal* for the miraculous price of $50, all because the gentleman who was working the counter wanted to save me money (are you confused? I was). Oooookay. Listen fella, you gotta pick your marks better. I'm not going to buy. Let me go enjoy a 10 minute tan in peace and quiet and you can move on to the next customer who might actually be interested in the products you're peddling. read more

Ugh, this place is terrible. The pricing structure is intentionally confusing, and the staff are EXTREMELY pushy. I purchased the $50 package with the intention of trying the salon out, no long term plans to keep tanning. I was under the impression I had just bought three tanning sessions. On my second visit, the girl at the counter was asking me if I wanted to buy more tans because I was about to run out. What? I'm confused. No thanks, I just want to use up what I already purchased. In walks the the previously very friendly 6'4 man that sold me the package, who basically starts yelling at me because I didn't want to purchase any more tans, saying I'm not going to have any left after this visit. After having made it very clear I wasn't interested in making any more purchases that day, this was extremely awkward and frankly, kind of scary, as he was a big guy. On my final visit, I AGAIN had to endure an over the top sales pitch (this lady actually explained it well enough that I actually get their insane pricing structure now) before getting a room. In summary, I was badgered to spend tons of money on every single visit, which was super uncomfortable. I looked them up, and it appears the staff works on commission and it is exceedingly obvious. Pretty good as far as tanning salons go. The one thing I hate about tanning salons is that they constantly try to sell you stuff, and this one hasn't as much. They will tell me about their new deals but they've never been pushy. The first time I went in they gave me and tour, which was nice because they do have some beds that are new to me (Combo bed and the level 4 bed). When I did my first spray tan ever the girl that showed me how to use it was really informative (and nice!) and helped me feel more at ease (I was really nervous about turning out orange-looking). I only go at night, after work, so I've only ever really dealt with three of the employees but those three will probably always be my favorites! read more

Give me a zero star so I can use it at this cheesy place. First, I was referred here by a friend, who I felt bad for. I am here in Washington about half the time and don't need some young over baked girl telling me for 20 minutes about 10 different beds when I just want to test the product.. And yes! I have the expensive lotion you are selling.. I bought in Scottsdale.. Yep! For about $65! Oh! You have it for $75? Bite Me, with your 'your using the wrong lotion bull'! I love how I was up for a 'free tan'until I. Opted to only buy a small package.. Little did she know I was a yelp elite now did she.. Fail.. Big fail. Save your money and go where customers mean something... This place is unprofessional... Overpriced.. And the girls are not only pushy... After you back them off of their lotions and package selling.. They will ignore you.. Stick you in low level beds.. And text and talk about their texts loudly.. Most dishonest company ever. False and misleading advertising combined with intentionally confusing prices make for a horrible customer experience. Do not expect then to fulfill their advertised rates. For example, "Liking" them on Facebook does not actually get you a $20 coupon. Despite the lack of any notice, you can only use this coupon toward "special packages" and is thus not a traditional coupon. The monthly rate begins and ends at their discretion so it is impossible to sign up for just one month. You have to sign up for a month and a half at least. Finally, ending ones membership is equally impossible. The company insists that you hand deliver a signed declaration to end membership. While the employees insist that this cannot be done until the 15th of the month, the legal document states that it cannot be done prior to the 15th. Again, forcing a client to purchase another month. In summation, do not expect an honest deal from this company. read more

I am not happy how this company does business ... I am black and was interested in tanning due to scaring of ance and lack of vitamin D . The representative for this business explained to me the benefits of tanning and how it can clear up ance help with vitamin D everything I wanted to hear .... MY COMPLAINT : After finding claims are not founded I decided the services are not needed and wanted to cancel. I payed out 100.00 for body wraps , 99.00 for tanning sessions, 57.40+16.80 +27.30 for lotions they recommend and sell and tax 37.95 .... grand whooping total 300.50.well everything non refundable ... also 24.00 dollars monthly dues for a membership. Went today and my experience was good! The girl who attended me was very helpful and explained everything to me! I paid $30 to sample all 5 beds and a spray tan. It's great because I'm probably not going to go there a ton and just want to see what I like. The place was very clean and sanitary as well. Seattle Sun Tan sells unlimited tanning in level 1 and 2 beds for $25 per month. But anytime I went in to tan, they would tell me that there was a 45 minute wait for 1's and 2's, but if I paid $8 to go in a level 3 that I could tan immediately. I had a funny feeling that they were lying to me to get more commission. So one day the girl told me that they were full (always a 45 minute wait) and I said I didn't want to upgrade. I went to my car and decided that I would just do it because I really wanted to tan. When I want back inside, another girl was at the counter and she told me there was no wait time on level 1's or 2's. Bottom line, they're liars and don't deserve your money. Don't tan here. I had a package with Seattle Sun Tan in Bonney Lake 3+ years ago and cancelled because I felt like I was being harassed to buy something or upgrade every time I went in even if it was at a different location. I'd give a 0 star based on that experience. However, I just started going to this location because it's right next to my work. I figured I'd suffer through the annoyance of having to waste time listening to their sales pitches for convenience (first world problems...). Luckily, the girls here are super nice and not annoying at all. Yeah, they try to sell every once in awhile, but they're not annoying and pushy. I have been a member with Seattle sun tan for at least six years, and I have been going to this location for about a year. I absolutely love this location! The entire team is so welcoming and sweet. I see new faces getting hired in and they are always just as amazing as the veteran team, which tells me their manager is doing an awesome job training his staff. The team is never pushy at all. They make sure that I know what is new, and know what my options are. They just want you to make sure you get what you need! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! read more
