Friendly service and great crabs. I have not tried any other seafood, but everything always looks fresh.

My husband and I love fish and seafood. So I was initially really sad when I did not see a fish market in Sanford. I learned about this market through word of mouth ( Shout out to Chef Shauna) and I have not been disappointed, by any of my purchases. I am only sad that I missed out on live crab and crawfish season. They are located in an area called Tramway next to Stubbs and if you don't look, you will miss it. Went here to get fresh catfish fillets and whole crabs!. However when I arrived they were all out of catfish fillets but did have catfish nuggets! The catfish nuggets are pre-packaged and they are already seasoned up, sold by the pound. This is a small set-up as they are apart of a larger company based out of Wilmington, NC I believe. They have everything sitting on ice inside coolers. The pricing is displayed all around for easy reading. Unfortunately, they also did not have any crabs when I went . They are only open Thursday to Sunday so by the time I went on a Sunday, they were down to their last stock! I re-visited this past Thursday and they did have crabs, I'm from Northern VA so when I think of crabs I'm talking Blue Crabs! They said they had #1 males and I must say they were small at best! The flavor was also not the greatest! I got the steamed ones 1/2 doz. They are steamed and then kept on ice for purchasing so you will have to reheat at home. They sell different seasonings as well. All in all if you are looking for fresh seafood, this is a good place. I was highly disappointed in the crabs which is why 2 stars. Husband bought a lobster tail from this place. He was super excited to buy seafood that look good and hopefully tasted good. He was not surprised and said it tasted awesome and wish he would have got a bigger one He said they were super nice and helpful and that he even got 15% off next time since he was a first time buyer pretty cool. I absolutely love these guys. The seafood is always fresh and incredible tasting.....except this week. I bought some oysters and when I went to shuck them, almost all of them were open. And what was left of the oysters inside was brown and rotted. There were a few good ones but even one that I thought was good tasted really bad. I'm praying I don't end up sick. They can harbor deadly bacteria. They need to really check them all daily to make sure that the oysters are still alive, shells closed and recently harvested. It won't stop me from buying their fish. This is the only time they have failed us and the selection and freshness of the fish is usually superb. No fishy smells, clear eyes, firm to the touch. Just think if you are buying the oysters, look at them all first. I just took the closed up bag and left. I sent them a message as well and hope they see both. Update: Okay in fairness, I had not shucked them all. After counting them there were only four rotten ones out of twelve. That's not good but certainly not horrible. It's just I ate an iffy one that tasted bad and was upset. So just be sure to check them all closely before you eat them. And other than that minor glitch these guys are awesome. They sell out of the favorites fast so we now will be ordering our fish ahead! read more

This place is awesome, fresh seafood open Thursday to Sunday. You can place an order for your items during the week and they will have your items for you when they come up from their Wilmington locations. Great prices, fantastic quality. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Do not let the location stop you from trying them out. It's an open air market behind the shell station on 87 next to the Medical center. I have bought lobster tails, clams, and snow crab from here and I have never been disappointed. I've also bought shrimp and didn't care for it but it was very fresh. I just felt like it tasted too much like the ocean but that's just my preference. I won't buy seafood anywhere else. This place is a gem!! read more

Best seafood around, hands down! We got 5 lbs. of snow crab legs for $45 and they taste like they literally just jumped out of the ocean. We also got 4 large lobster tails for $48 and they are sooo buttery. I was never really a fan of lobster until I ate here. Red Lobster and Joe's Crab Shack are good, but The Seaview Crab Company is great and they have a lifelong customer here! read more

Cool and convenient to be able to get really good seafood on the corner of my neighborhood entrance - it always seems odd to tell people it's behind the gas station but that is part of its charm. You cannot get seafood of this quality at the local grocery store or any other here. They have awesome crab legs, salmon, and shrimp - among other things. Really good cocktail sauce as well. You need to get there quick on the weekend because they tend to sell out of the common favorites quickly. read more

It is nice to have found a conveniently located fresh seafood stand. We picked up some of their large fresh shrimp, fresh snow crab legs (they were sold out of King crab), and frozen mussels. We really enjoyed the crab and the shrimp was delicious too, but you have to de-vain yourself. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have lots to choose from. You can place orders as well, as long as it is before 7:30 AM on Friday. They are only there on the weekends. Their limited hours and interesting location, behind a gas station, are the only quirky things about this place. We will purchase from them regularly. read more

Like others said, it's kind of scary to think about buying your seafood from behind a gas station. We moved into the area and I would see the signs go up every Friday. One day, coming home from work, I decided to stop because there always seemed to be crowd lined up. Pleasantly surprised. Great selection of all kinds. We enjoy the gulf shrimp, live crawfish, Alligator tails and monk fish. All very fresh and very tasty. It's a regular weekend stop for us. The staff is very helpful and the prices are good. You can even do special orders and they will have it ready to pick up when they setup on Friday. Huge asset to the local area. I would love to see them get Pacific Salmon vs Atlantic Salmon....but other than that, give this place a try and you too will be picking up your seafood from behind the gas station from now on as well. read more

This is the best place to pick up fresh seafood for the weekend if you live in this neck of the woods. It's kinda hidden behind a gas station and only open Friday and Sat, but should still be an essential part of any weekend event requiring seafood! read more

Can you say LOVE!! Im from the north east and the only recommendations for seafood i got were Harris Teeter and Fresh Market which were actually of poor quality seafood wise. I dont remember who told me about Seaview but thank you person i cant remeber. You're a life saver. I get quality fresh seafood and even the stuff I would get back home for the same price or less! if you want fresh seafood then this is where you need to go. I was shocked when we first moved here that there was no fresh seafood in the grocery stores (minus harris teeter). We love seafood and anytime we can do a boil we do it. We live around the corner from this place and have always seen it but never stopped in. One day we finally stopped and I am glad we did. Came upon this seafood place couple years ago when they sold out of a enclosed trailer was a little afraid at first but tried it anyway...I'm so glad I did cause he has the freshest seafood alot better then grocery stores. Can't bet the prices for ms blue crabs he usually throw in few extra also! Glad they decided to make spout springs a little more perm location beats running to shore for blue crabs. Buying seafood from a gas station is a scary thought, but this was worth the risk. I've never had seafood this fresh besides family trips to the beach. It's a bit more expensive than going to the seafood section of the local grocery stores, but for quality you can hardly compare the two. Have purchased some lovely red snapper here before - overpriced, but quite fresh and good. However, they do not always have on hand what is advertised. I realize that can't be helped, so the following week, the woman there encouraged me to pre-order and "we will call you in advance if we can't get it". I expected the courtesy call, but as none came, I took time to drive to the location and was told, very unapologetically, that they didn't get it and didn't call either. The woman was not nice about it, did not try to make it up (I had gone two weeks in a row now), and I will not go back. read more
