As a Colombian, it's hard to find authentic food in the city. I think Seba Seba does a good job at filling that void. We visited on a busy Sat morning and got seated quickly with orders out within 5 min. They have your classic Colombian parbas and sweets to get your meal started. We ordered pandebonos, boñuelos, and a variety of classic bfast stuff. Everything was fresh and seemed made to order. They have plenty of sitting, including for large groups. Stopped by for lunch today, service was decent albeit a little slow since it is Mother's day and they were quite busy with a lot of families showing up. I ordered the arepa and it was okay. It was a bit more crunchier than I would have liked so it was a bit harder to cut through with my knife but the filling was good. There was plenty of guacamole on top and plenty of cheese and meat as well. My friend got the botana plate and it was huge with various items like a quesadilla, refried beans, meat, and guacamole. The restaurant feels like an old-school diner with the counter towards one side of the restaurant and it was overall lively with servers walking around checking on tables and they even had mother's day balloons up in the air. At first the menu is a bit overwhelming for brunch but then you realize there are a few staples they just made into various combinations. Started with a beef empanada, which was delightful. Flavoring great and the empanada texture wonderful. Seba seba breakfast #5 was pretty good: rice and beans with a fried egg that we mixed into it and an arepa with cheese. This last part wasn't my favorite- a bit on the charred side. The tostones were okay, the actual tostone itself was nice and the beef was good but the pork skin and guac weren't my favorite. So good, so close, so consistent. Jackson Heights is no stranger to Colombian restaurants and cafes; they are all over the place. There's a few things that set Seba Seba away from the others though. I love their location. It's in the heart of Jackson Heights and right on a corner. You're basically always passing by it which makes it great to pop in quickly while out and about. It's consistent. Some Colombian places will be good today and not so great tomorrow. After having been here dozens of times, I can say that I always know what I'm getting. The soup is gonna be good, the bunuelos are going to be good, the steak is going to be good. Consistency is huge to setting up a familiar experience for customers. The customer service is also exceptional. Seba Seba manages to move things along way faster that other Colombian spots. If I wanna pop in quickly for an empanada to go, I'm likely not going to be enthusiastic about waiting a long time. Seba Seba really does a great job focusing on getting people what they want quickly, which makes their consistency even more impressive. If I had one quibble, it's just that their pan de bono is way drier than other places. But that's just not that big a deal. I'm going to keep going to Seba Seba for all my Colombian food desires. This was one of my go to spot when I lived in the neighborhood. And since I moved I still love to come here everytime I go to Queens. The food is traditional colombian and is so good. The chorizo and chicharon was life when I was full on Keto. Now i come to pick up coffee and some bake goods for my kids.. they love their bread and empanadas. We always grab a few to take back home. The scrambled eggs were good - portions have been reduced- the thing is the arepa had mold in the bottom when the waitress informed the manager nothing was said or done - I had to ask again if the manager was informed and when she approached us at the table her actitud and answer was: "I already informed the chefs" as I still have to pay for something that you should not be serving clients. It had mold for gods sake. The excuse from the waitress was : it is very difficult these days because of humidity" If I could give zero stars I would. Takeout review during phase 2 of COVID opening: they have a few tables to sit outside. You order inside as it is self serve. Got a couple of coffees, a pan de yuca (3/5) and a tres leches (4/5). I loooove pan de yuca and used to eat them all the time when I lived in Ecuador so eating this is nostalgic for me, but the one from Seba seba did not taste very fresh. I am so happy I decided to stop in this place. The food was terrific! I ordered one of the two daily specials - beef and yellow potato soup. Came with side of rice, salad and corn cake. This is the best Colombian bakery to go to in Queens. I used to go here all the time when I lived in Queens, and it was clearly a superior to the others. Just pick something, anything, and you'll be in your zen happy place, especially if you order it with a cup of black coffee. My personal favorites are the pan de bono, the bunuelo, or if you're feeling something sweet, the empanada de cambrai. Way, way, way off the tourist beat - 14 stops away from Times Square on the 7, to be exact - deep in the heart of Queens is this sunnyside-up Colombian coffee shop. Yep, Colombian. Get off at the Jackson Heights station and walk about three blocks, and you're here. It's a friendly place abuzz with locals who seem to know to order off the menu otherwise given to gringos like me. I was with my friend Carlos who was intent on getting his favorite dish, the $7.50 Huevos Rancheros, which came with two fried eggs and very fresh-tasting guacamole (see my photo). His was good, mine was a bit meh...the drawback of being ignorant in a foreign land. OK, it's Queens, but you know what I mean. I ordered the $8.25 Desayuno Seba Seba #1, which consisted of a grilled breakfast steak, a small Spanish-style omelette, rice and beans, and a flatbread with cheese called almojabana (see my photo). The steak was pretty dry and needed a heavy dousing of hot sauce to wake it up, the eggs suffered somewhat from the same fate, and the almojabana was not quite as tasty as it looked despite the little granules of white cheese spooned on top. The best part was the rice and beans, which had a nice, day-after flavor to them. Others were having prawns, fajita-looking meats, and all sorts of savory goodies. Lots of mugs of hot chocolate abound since it was a cold, crispy day. Had I known to order off the menu in Spanish, I would have taken a crash Berlitz course. Carlos swears by the place. I'm on the fence. However, this stretch of 37th Avenue looked like a UN general assembly of ethnic eateries, so another ambitious trip out here wouldn't be out of the question, compadre. FOOD - 3 stars...passable menu fare...I surmise that the key to success is to order off the menu AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...a sunny-bright diner and very clean SERVICE - 3.5 stars...fast, for sure...maybe crack a smile? The pan de queso warmed up with some chorizo and chicharron - my favorite breakfast items with my son. For lunch or dinner, their chicken in mushroom sauce served with rice and black beans is also a must order. The chicken is super moist and juicy and the sauce is too good. Portions are also huge, sharing with my 3.5 year old who eats just as much as I do, we still always have leftovers to take home! I went today to this location Seba Seba and purchased 4 almojábanas. These cost $1.75 each which is not an issue if I am getting a well baked product. These sadly were not. Again this bakery used to have better bakery good but the deterioration is evident. I also got crispy fried pork skin with an arepa. The pork skin looks good but the arepa is sadly going in the garbage. This is not the first time I have received subpar bakery items from this branch. But I thought let's give them a chance sometimes you can have an off day. But after three instances of the same or similar problems I need to call you out perhaps you can motivate yourselves to improve for the others that may give you a chance. I have visited Seba Seba, all three locations in Jackson Heights and Corona, again, again, again, again and again. My BF is hooked on their corn meal crusted empanadas ($1.25), as I am too. The empanadas have to be eaten hot, asap. I have actually reheated it on a dry pan or in a toaster oven just so it is crisped back up and heated through. Make sure they give you salsa (hot sauce). We also love the Chicharron de Guayaba, a flaky pastry with guava paste inside, which is my favorite at $1.25. The coffee is strong. Woooooo, talk about a jolt of caffeine!! I've never sat down to dine in; always bought takeout. Always got no-fuss quick service. It might take a while to get their attention but they work fast to get your order together. After a late lunch/early dinner at La Pequeña, we were full and desired sweets to come across Seba-Seba. Seba-Seba is a fast-pace casual family restaurant and bakery. There is one restroom facility and seating. They serve Mexican specialties as Huevos Rancheros; Fajitas Mixtas, Alambre, Carne Asada Con Nopales along with typical American fast food of hamburgers with French Fries. Oddly, tres leches is not listed on the take-out menu as I've learned from my dearest Marlene Q. that it is a traditional Mexican dessert. read more

Want inexpensive and delicious Colombian food? Then this is your place! There are about 3 of these located in Queens and 2 of them are in Jackson Heights, but this one is my favorite. I've only been to 1 of their other locations (the one on Northern Boulevard) which is a bigger space, but this one generally seems to feel less crowded. Most of the times I've swung by here has been with my mom who is a fan of their empanadas - they're not bad and definitely the authentic Colombian kind, however I prefer Mama's Empanadas anytime because of their greater variety of fillings...although I've tried both the chicken and beef ones here and while not bad at all, Mama's fillings are generally on the more generous and jucier side...so they win there as well. What does completely rock at Seba Seba is their Tres Leches cake. OH MANZ. For $3 you get a slice that is like the size of your face! It's moist, flavorful and best of all - enough to split with someone should their eyes bug out of their heads and they ask for a bite :). Actual savory meals here are pretty reasonably priced and they sell all sorts of Colombian and Mexican entrees that have really big portions. Really unique place. Looks like a futuristic 50s diner, if that makes any sense (probably not). Wait staff was friendly. Menus had big pictures of each dish to help you choose if you're not familiar with the selections. I had the chicken/mushroom/mayonnaise/bacon corn cake for dinner because the combination sounded delicious. Admittedly, it was my first time trying Colombian, but I found there to be more emphasis on quantity than quality. That's not to say my meal wasn't good (it took a few bites to really get the full mix of flavors), but I would've rather had less food that had more spice and texture. I also thought the water tasted a little funny, but that's because I'm used to Brooklyn and Manhattan tap. To each his own! I love this area because you walk a block and you can choose different types of Spanish foods, Indian, Chinese or even my good ol' diner Jahn's. Seba Seba has a great menu selection of meats, meats and more meats. Kidding, they have many other tummy filling items also. I love ordering for breakfast the Spanish omelet. You can opt to get it with meat (sausage, bacon or ham), but either ways you will get a side of home-fries and toast. I'm very picky about my home-fries and this is one of the places you will see me polish my plate of everything. All around you, you will see all others have breakfast with hot choco. Decadent or what! I usually go the OJ route. At a $1 for a decent sized glass of OJ is not bad (not fresh squeezed, but it is Tropicana). If you want bakery stuff, I highly recommend the empanadas and the cheese balls (not really cheesy, mostly dough, but great snack). For dinner, I have ordered the steak with beans, yellow rice and yellow plantains. It came with a side of salad. The steak was a little tough and thin, but hey it's considered a "poor man's steak", but it was packed with flavor. I'm not to thrilled with their version of salchipapas, but it'll do if I'm desperate for some fries and hot dogs. The apple soda is a good compliment to meal or you can opt for a fruit juice/shake of theirs. If you like to go on the edge, try the Mora Shake, which is really Andean Blackberry blended with milk. Service is always friendly from the ladies, to which they always top you off with complementary coffee candies. I grew up coming here, and always loved it. I moved to Colombia for a couple of years and when i moved back to NY two years ago i was so excited to come back here. When i first came back, I was happy because I felt, I was back home and nothing had changed. My boyfriend is Puerto Rican and he's learned to love Colombian food, so of course I had to bring him here. The first time we went together, he loved it, he thought everything about it was amazing. The next couple of time we went we saw how the service had changed. There service was HORRIBLE. We weren't even down sitting at the table, and one of the servers practically threw the menus across the table. Our server, took our order and never came back to check up on us or to even clear up our table which was cluttered. Once we were done eating, i asked for a Jugo de Lulo and an " acema " to go. I'm from cali, in my city this bread is known by this name, i understand that certain things can be known by different names but that still doesn't mean you have to be rude about it. The server laughed in my face and said " que es eso " with the most horrible attitude ever. Him doing that made me so upset that my boyfriend looked at me and said " why do we keep coming here?" Came here this past Sunday for something light but once we opened the menu, we let our eyes do the ordering. Almojabanas. Best pocket sized unsweetened, unfilled baked good I have found to date. It fits snugly into your palm. Its cheese flavored and gluteny. I can't call it a pastry since it's neither sweet nor flaky. It's not really bread because it's so chewy. It's freaking amazing.
