Came here with a group of people to celebrate a guy who used to work here. A few locals joined us at a long table near the bar. I feel in love with the beer streets of Rome, Italian style Pilsner that was so fresh and crisp...surprisingly it's only a 5.2.... Drank it all night! We decided to order a bunch of happy hour appetizers... $6 items mon through Thursday 4-6pm Hummus plate Pretzels Spinach and artichoke dip Chips and queso Everything was great and perfect for sharing A few people got regular items, Aztec chicken bowel was really delicious too. Service was excellent, constant checking in and glasses were never empty.

Ordered this for takeout lunch today and I was impressed. This dish was delicious and it surprised me. I would have preferred a runnier egg but that's just me being pedantic. It was a relatively quick pick up and hassle free. I can't say anything about the servers or the ambiance inside because this was a takeout order.

Sebago is a nice casual restaurant where we had dinner on January 24th. Me and my family sat at a booth next to where they make the pizzas, but you could only partly see how they make it. The atmosphere was nice. It seemed like a pub-type of place, and where we sat, it felt very secluded and private, which was kind of nice. I liked that there were not a lot of TVs everywhere and you were more focused on the conversation that you were having. I think that the only bad thing about the atmosphere is that there is not a lot of color in there, so it was not very interesting to look around. When we sat down, the waiter came to us right away, and she checked in on us a good amount of times. When we ordered, my parents got the Aztec bowl (witch is like a poki bowl), my sister and I split a pizza and the chicken ranch sandwich, and my other siblings got chicken fingers. When the food came out, it all looked really good; for example, the pizza came on a tray with a wooden handle. The food was pretty good. The pizza was really good, but the crust was a bit undercooked and the sandwich was super good. The chicken was crispy and it had a lot of good toppings on it. it also all came out pretty quick. Overall I would give Sebago a 4-star because the atmosphere was not that colorful and the pizza was a little bit undercooked, but still a great place to go as a family or just somewhere to go for fun.

We came in for a quick dinner, we had a high top in the bar area, as tables were a bit of a wait. We had Brenna( hopefully that's right) as our server, and she was excellent. My mother got a White Russian, that she thoroughly enjoyed. We got the nachos con queso as an app, and they were by far the best nachos we've had in some time. My partner and I split the orange chicken bowl, and the 9pm steak. The bowl was decent, not great, but the steak was very very good. It was cooked exactly how we had requested, and it was juicy and tender. The menu did say it would come with roasted potatoes and asparagus... we preferred broccoli and they obliged. The steak ended up coming with rice, which we got with the bowl so we didn't even touch it. That was a bummer. Everything else was wonderful. Fast and efficient service, nice place, good food. Can't go wrong! They have weekday specials and a full bar! They are located in kennebunk, by the Hannaford !

This place does not disappoint. We hadn't been in about two years and the menu has changed a little bit, but it's still delicious. The beers also changed, but still very good. Service was quick and friendly. I guess the only slightly negative I can come up with is that it was a bit chilly inside.

There was a piece of fish almost as big as a bar of soap! At the table, we enjoyed the fillet mignon, cooked very well, except for one burnt corner (couldn't figure out what happened there). We also enjoyed some nachos and a very pleasant, simple lobster roll, on a perfectly grilled New England style hot dog roll. Hot buttered was an option too, but a true New Englander would never try one hot. No cocktails tonight, but several neighbors imbibed and they all looked smashing. Also no deserts for us. The menu was just right, not too big, not too small. There was something for everyone, including a kids menu. We were lucky to find this restaurant inside of an Inn. If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.

Once we were seated, we were greeted with water and bread service. The homemade sourdough focaccia was incredible. I had to stop myself for reaching for piece number three. When looking at the menu, they have a couple different options. We loved the price is preset based upon your 3 or 4 courses. He completely disregarded the other guest and only focused on my drink order, which felt disrespectful. After taking my order and walking awaynot once but twice, when he returned I had to ask, "Are you not going to take her drink order?" The tuna sashimi was great and the carrots were good as well. However, something about the halibut tasted off. I work with fish daily, and this personally was not it. I had one bite and could not continue eating it. The server boxed up the halibut for me, but then tossed a to-go container onto the table for us to box our own dessert, which felt inconsistent with the level of service. The bartender was wearing an H&H raincoat and appeared to be drinking on the job, while other female staff members were scrolling on their phones. Overall, not a great first impression. The ambiance itself was nice, but when you make an 8:30 PM reservation and receive a text at 7:30 PM saying your table is ready, it feels a bit off-putting. I had asked beforehand if anything earlier was available and was told no, so I intentionally booked later for an evening experience. Then upon arrival, the restaurant was fairly empty. Within the first few minutes of us being there, the kitchen doors were closed and cleaning was happening all around us. It created an unpleasant atmosphere for what was supposed to be a social evening out and a little hoorah celebration, and nothing was acknowledged by staff. It was clear that reservation notes or comments in chat of reservation were not reviewed. Overall, not thrilled with the experience. Been there, done that -- one visit was enough for me/us unless that 49-year-old male server Charlie learns how to properly serve guests and the kitchen team start to season the food a bit better. Would have been nice if Charlie checked in with us more like he did the other tables hence the eaves dropping to know more about him and the place. 4/10 experience, will not be back which is a bummer.

Upon arrival, we were initially seated in what felt more like a brightly lit, casual tavern or breakfast room, completely at odds with the refined dining experience we expected. Surrounded by families and very casual attire, it was confusing and frankly off-putting. After asking the host stand, we were eventually moved to the actual dining room, which was beautiful - dim, elegant, and exactly the ambiance we had hoped for. Service throughout the evening was polished and professional, and every dish was plated beautifully. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. While we understand that tasting menus consist of smaller portions, each course, just two or three bites, was entirely forgettable. The flavors lacked balance and subtlety, which is surprising at this price point. The beef tartare in a cigar like wrapper was very mid. One of my early courses was a scallop dish, and the scallops were cooked so poorly they were the rubberiest I've ever had (an immediate red flag in a restaurant of this caliber). My main course, a tenderloin, arrived as an overcooked end piece. After sending it back and requesting rare, it returned slightly less well done, still an end cut, and completely overwhelmed by a salty, heavy red wine demi-glace that tasted more like something from a packet than a refined sauce. It was one of the least appetizing beef dishes I have perhaps ever had. The cheese plate featured Great Hill Blue which some might love but is available at my local Stop & Shop so didn't really knock my socks off, a boring cheddar and a third cheese I can't even recall. At a restaurant of this caliber, I was expecting a much more curated collection of exciting, super, stinky cheeses that one could not find at a chain grocery store. At nearly $700 for two people (with a few drinks and a multi-course menu), the experience simply did not come close to justifying the cost. The following night, we had a $200 dinner at Chez Rosa, the Little French bisto in downtown Kennebunkport. The meal there FAR surpassed this meal in both flavor and execution. Based on our experience--and what seems to be echoed in more recent reviews--the quality of the food here no longer matches its reputation or price point. This was meant to be a special occasion destination, but instead left us feeling frustrated and genuinely let down.
