This is very good pizza. The only thing is it feels very fattening because the cheese layer is like a foot high (just kidding) along with everything else on the pizza. We went several times, but stopped, just too much. Maybe we should just ask for not to go overboard on ingredients, but I think that's there signature deal. It's very very good though. read more

Second Ave pizza has always been my top pizza place! I've been eating here since kindergarten and i still do. The owner of SA is very nice, and She uses high-quality ingredients and it definitely tastes like it. Her pizzas are also on the cheap side (under $20) and you definitely get more than what you pay for. I live in California and to get a pizza this quality takes $45 and it doesn't even taste that great. You will never be disappointed! read more

My wife and I ordered the "The Jukebox" and and order of the "Out of this World" breadsticks. The pizza was off the hook tasty and the breadsticks did not disappoint. They use quality ingredients and they were plentiful. The bad news was this was too much food for us to eat. The good news was that we were able to eat leftovers for both lunch and dinner the following day! Definitely worth a visit and return trip. read more

But that crust is rather awful: thick, chewy (not in a good way), bready, and without any depth of flavor. I've been to 2nd Ave Pizza many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. Recently, I've had to eliminate gluten and dairy from my diet and haven't had pizza since :( Until 2nd Ave!!! Their gluten-free rice crust is one of the best crusts I've ever had (gluten or no gluten). They've tried out many different soy cheeses until they found one that melts and tastes the most like mozzarella. The pizza I got was so good, I went back the next day and got another!!! The Schweitzer Ski Flake and Meat Lover's are two great pizzas.The staff and owner are very accommodating and welcoming. Not very happy with this. Our pizza was overflowing with cheese in the box outside of the crust. An obnoxious amount of cheese on it that wasn't even enjoyable. Caesar salad was drenched in so much dressing couldn't even eat it. Would give 0 stars if I could read more

Pizza in Idaho was risky business, to be sure, but the pie itself wasn't half bad. We went for the 7lber--the Jukebox special--with all sorts of meat and mushrooms, I think. Closer to a chicago deep dish than a ny pie, it was different enough from both to be good and not step on any regional toes. The service, however, left something to be desired. As the only customers on a snowy winter lunchtime, we waited about 3 minutes for someone to even make an appearance at the order counter. When he did show and we ordered, all we got out of him was "Is that all?" along with the distinct impression that we'd ruined his afternoon nap. He perked up a bit later, but when I'm next in Sandpoint, I'll probably opt for delivery if I need a pizza fix. read more

Finally had the chance to come back to Second Ave after a 20 year hiatus. I'm happy to report that nothing has changed. Still the best pizza around, thick crust & loaded with fresh toppings. This stuff is seriously filling! (Four hungry adults couldn't finish a large). Great beer selection to help wash down your pie. All this in a casual, homey setting. Apparently, the attraction of Second Avenue Pizza is that they give you a lot of pizza. Unfortunately, this doesn't help if the pizza isn't that good to begin with. I had 2nd Ave. pizza once. Mind you, I'm a fan of cheese, and I like the Chicago stuffed pizzas and all, but there was so much cheese on our pizza that it was overkill and not appetizing. Nothing else about the pizza was memorable at all, and now if someone suggests pizza around here, I'm much happier getting it from one of the chain pizza places around. read more

OMG! Simply the Best Pizza I've ever had, that should be the name on the sign! And trust me, over the years, I've done Pizza! The sausage, I don't know where they get it, but it just makes the flavor all around. You would think it was a deep dish option, 2" high at center, and yet cooked to perfection, the right crust, that carries every bit of that pie! They told me one time, when I picked up my pie, that they ship to New York regularly, for a special client who can't get enough! Every time I make my trek up north from CDA, I have to bring a pie back home. My normal order includes almost every topping, and weighs over 10 lbs! The best part of this well-kept secret, is that it's off the main drag, in a semi-residential part of town, so definitely not a tourist choice amongst all the others that are failing in Sandpoint due to all the new investors closing down businesses. It's surviving on word of mouth, which is the best formula for success. Every time I walk in the door, it is nearly packed, with a takeout line as well. I was almost tempted to keep this to myself, but you guys gotta know, and keep this place alive for years to come! It looks like it's going nowhere but up from here. The toppings on this pizza were piled HIGH! It was a mound of toppings like I had never seen before. I just couldn't believe my eyes! A good alternative to The Loading Dock - it's different, piled high, not cracker crust/neapolitan style. We wandered in after finding that Hope Market Cafe was closed Mon/Tues (at least the drive was nice) and were about the only people in the place. The gentleman taking our orders recommended one of the small specialty pizzas to share between two guys. To which we said, cool, but then later worried - "Two dudes? a *small?* Blasphemy." Turns out he was right. Our pizza came out, piled with black olives, mushrooms, pepperoni, and some really tasty sausage. The small was plenty, let it be known. Another diner got a calzone...which was enormous, stuffed with meat, cheese, and good looking red and green bell peppers. Topped with what he said was almost like spaghetti sauce. Like I said - I don't know that I can compare this to Loading Dock. The crust is thick, cheese is different, and toppings much thicker. So it's not better or worse...just...different. Anyway. We would probably go back. But then again, we're not kicking ourselves for just discovering this place at what is likely the end of our stay in Sandpoint. The price is just barely "two dollar signs." Honestly, this could easily be less than $10 a person, just depends on your beverage selections. read more

It took 1 hour to receive our pizza and we were one of only 4 tables. Pizza was delivered with 3 inches of ingredients piled high but it's impossible to bake a pizza this loaded, the vegetables were raw and crust below was uncooked. Sorry but one of the worst pizzas we have ever eaten. read more

This was my first time visiting Sandpoint and my wife and I were looking for a good place to order pizza from. It was a busy Friday night and they told us an hour and a half for delivery which was fine. An hour and 45 minutes later I called and they said my order would be 40 more minutes. They said sorry and that is all. We had to put our infant down at this time and they called the hotel instead of my cell which woke up our baby! They delivered our pizza to another person in a different hotel with the same room number. They offered us salad as a sorry and would deliver the pizza as soon as possible. It ended up being 3 hours from order to delivery and when they called to tell me my pizza was here, they arrived at the wrong hotel.
