The meatball was tasty and had enough sauce to taste but not so much that it gets the bread soggy. The cheese was perfect ooey gooey. I liked the tangy cole slaw and the potato salad. You're paying over $10 for sandwiches and salads that don't even get you full and leave you feeling meh when you come to Second Reef Deli. I was recommended to come here by a co-worker who really liked their sandwiches. And after coming here twice (I decided to give them a second chance), I don't think I'll be eating here again on my lunch breaks. The sandwiches are average and the salads are no better than the ones you can pick up from the supermarket. PARKING: Easy. This is a large shopping center, so it's no trouble to park and walk inside. This deli is located near Pengo Drink Station and Greek Bistro. INTERIOR: Clean with lots of seating inside. You order at the counter, pay, and seat yourself of can take it to-go. They also do online orders for convenience. FOOD: -Tuna Salad: The first time I came, I ordered their tuna salad. To my dismay, after taking the salad back to work...THEY FORGOT MY TUNA. It was just a salad! Had to drive back their so they could add it in and at the end of the day the tuna salad was so dry as if the mixture was laying out all day. -Chicken Breast Salad: I ordered this salad the next time I came in and enjoyed this much more than the dry tuna salad I got the first time. I did get full eating it. But felt that the taste was satisfactory and something I could have whipped up at home. I wasn't blown away. -Salt Creek: Their hot pastrami sandwich was good, but tiny. Another co-worker came with me the second time, and even after eating this sandwich wanted to make a stop to another store to get more food. The sandwich wasn't filling enough for a lunchtime break. Don't be fooled by the pictures displaying sandwiches overflowing with meat. The sandwich itself may be thick, but length-wise leaves much to be desired. PRICE: May be competitive to other delis if the food was outstanding. But considering the food is small portion-wise and okay-ish taste wise, you're overpaying. Overall: After the lunchtime debacle my first visit, I decided to come again and am still left with the impression that this deli is mediocre. I've had better and larger sandwiches for less (albeit in areas with lower property taxes). I don't think their salads and sandwiches are worth the money. Realistically you could spend a $1-2 more for better lunch deals in the surrounding area/restaurants in the same plaza. read more

After eyeballing this deli for weeks since we live down the road, it looked interesting since all the sandwiches are named after surf spots. I took a ride to this place since it's next door to Pengo in which makes delicious drinks to grab some lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I planned this out the beginning of the week since I wanted to see what all the hype was about on here. With a 5 star rating I expected to be mind blown, unfortunately I was not. To be perfectly fair this is my first visit and I've only tried this one sandwich (so far). I walked in while nobody was in there, employees were all in the back and no customers in line. A young teenage boy comes out with no greeting or smile and stands there and asks what I wanted. I told him I wanted the Brooks Street sandwich. The description had everything I like in it, turkey, bacon avocado & pepper jack cheese. I left next door to grab a drink and came back, waited about 10 minutes for my sandwich and watch a guy with dark hair adding avocado to my sandwich. He was actually friendly and asked if I wanted a bag and told me to have a good day which I appreciate. Once I get home I'm anticipating a magnificent sandwich and I open up to a standard looking sandwich. The bread was not toasted or warmed, just a basic grinder roll cold and chewy. Bacon was like the ones you buy precooked in a package, once again cold with nothing done to it at all. I literally thought wow, I really should've made this myself. Pros - Avocado was generously put on this sandwich not to mention it was a huge sandwich. I want to be supportive of a new sandwich shop in my neighborhood but this was my honest experience. I should've planned better and ordered the Padang Padang everyone seemed to rave about and or at least ask for the Reef Aioli to try and spruce my sandwich up. For being the most expensive sandwich on the menu at $10+, it was not too impressive. I love the idea of this, the cool surf theme, a deli in the neighborhood but I am truly hoping my next experience will prove me wrong. I don't know if I truly want to go back and pay for another basic sandwich BUT like I said I want to like this place and support a local business. Til next time Second Reef, no more rookie mistakes - I've got to ordered the right things and hope this place provides better customer service next time. So so good. Friendly environment. Wonderful owner. Had the squaw bread it was great. My son ate the entire turkey sandwich. The potato salad was really great. I loved all the outdoor seating. I feel like I'm always looking for someplace healthy to eat around this area and there's really nothing. So I was happy to see a new place and try it. The house sauce they put on the sandwich was really good. It had just the right amount of kick. Request it! The amount of turkey I got in my sandwich was a good bang for my buck. The owner chatted with us for a bit about why he started the business with his family and he was sooo nice and helpful. I've had the meatball sandwich and the tuna melt. Meatball sandwich had tons of meatballs, hot browned mozzarella cheese on top. Perfect blend of marinara, cheese and meat on a warm soft roll. The tuna melt was golden brown, cheese melted and the delicious sourdough bread held up and wasn't soggy in the middle.
