My car radio was jacked about a year ago and I drove around tuneless, almost getting used to the droning noise of my engine. I went to Best Buy and purchased the cheapest radio with a CD player and auxiliary connection- and tried to install it myself (by "myself" I mean I sat next to my boyfriend with tools in my hand while he tried to install it). No go. I continued to drive around for another 3 months with wires hanging out of the void where a radio should be. One Saturday morning I yelped "car radio installation" in Honolulu and Security & Sound Systems was the first on the list. With 5 stars from close to 30 reviews, they seemed legit. I called and spoke with Kent. He was able to get me in that day. He put me at ease while I fumbled with car audio vocabulary, "the music thing with the buttons....radio? It's not there, just wires...can you make the radio go in and work?" Not my best vernacular moment, but Kent understood. Went in this store for car back up bibi sensor, but the man who I spoke to was cold and unfriendly when I told him his asking price was over my budget then he just walked away no interest in whatsoever my questions regarding the made of the bibi manufacturing from, his attitude was careless and not even wanted to have a further conversation with me. What a lousy and awful customer service and the worst I have had. If doing business is only making money oriented then it's not going to last. I have installed my own car stereo for years. So i went to Security & Sound Systems just to buy a new unit. Their selection wasn't the best, but their knowledge about the products was awesome. Good prices. I bought my unit and went on my way satisfied. I went to install my unit the next day (having declined their installation, since I can do it myself). Upon taking out the old unit in my vintage car, I found a rats nest of wires that looked nothing like anything I had ever seen before. I was clearly in over my head, but since when has that ever stopped me? So I foolhardily pressed forward. I connected the wires where I thought they should go, only to have the damn thing not work when I was done. Frustrated and humbled, I returned to Security & Sound Systems to seek their expertise. Sure enough, they were able to fix what I'd done and get the new unit working. I trust these guys! They know their stuff. What can I say? These guys are AMAZING! I called ahead to see how much getting a new radio for my husband's car would be and, let me tell you, these guys are on top of their shit. They told me that the car needed a special part for the radio and that I could come in and put a deposit down so they could order it. So I stopped by, made a deposit and soon enough they had the part ready so that I could come by with the car. You get to pick out which radio you'd like for your car and they have a wide variety of options so I'm sure finding one that'll fit both you and your car won't be a problem. They have basic radios with bluetooth for those that want something simple and convenient and even high tech ones with a huge display screen for those who like to be a little more tech savvy. I kind of felt like a kid in a candy store...okay, yes I love cars and that might have helped, but seriously at first I couldn't decide which to get, (Mostly because it's not my car...but I'm sure my husband will be happy regardless). Installation was pretty quick, faster than I thought it was going to be, that's for sure. For those that don't like to sit around waiting there are nearby cafes and such. I brought a book, some homework and my grandma so the time just flew by for both of us. Not only did they do a great job with the installation but the guys there are super nice too. They'll go over your new system, (or whatever you're having done), step by step till you get the hang of it. I know some people rush to explain things and get impatient but you'll never have to worry about that with these guys. Even when you call them they are always very patient and they're very good about answering questions as well as communicating with the customer about what needs to be done. They did a great job on my alarm system. They even took their time to show me how to work it and upon my request turned up the sensors so it would go off at a lighter touch. I felt safe knowing that they had excellent reviews on yelp. I would reccommend using them. My advice though, is to go to the office in person to set up your appointment. From new clips for the remote, new remote housing, to emergency walk in for a malfunction when a switch got broken (no charge!) their service has been wonderful. Go there and check this place out! Kent is one of the most up-and-up guys around. Got my Viper installed there a few months back. Kent went through all of the options (and there are a lot!) as well as pricing and basically trying to understand what you, as the customer, want/need in your system... and then recommending the system that gives you the best bang for your buck, based on your wants/needs. He's a straight-shooter... as many people in other reviews will attest to, he doesn't pitch you on things you don't need or try to upsell you everything on his pricelist. In fact, quite the opposite - he'll tell you which things aren't the best deal and explain why he typically wouldn't recommend them. He simply provides the knowledge and expertise to help you make the most informed decision possible. At the end of it all, I did spend more than I originally budgeted. I got the Viper alarm w/ remote start w/ SmartStart (mobile app) and w/ GPS. I have not been so pleased going OVER BUDGET on a large expense before. And I couldn't be happier with the system. There's a reason this place was voted as #1 in Hawaii. I stopped by after work, around 4:30, just to check out the prices of some of the recievers because I wanted to get something in the future. Kent was extremely helpful and explained the differences in all of the products they carried by what I was looking for. He literally broke it down Barney style for me. They ended up having an opening to do an install right before they closed so I jumped on it. They knocked everything out in about half an hour. It was past closing time by the time everything was finished but Kent stayed around to walk me through each and every control and setting. On top of that he recoded my Viper alarm for me so it locks automatically when I forget to do it myself. I spent a lot more than I had budgeted but I am extrememly satisfied with the product and the customer service that was provided.
