Being a frequent traveler = being semi-nomadic = renting storage units throughout the Bay Area over the years. I've seen a lot of strange stuff, to put it mildly. I have two units here, with one since 2010. When I signed up, Ann was really great at finding me the best location she could for the size I wanted and pointed out that limited hours = secure. I can see that; it's definitely a safe place and without late hours, you don't have people trying to spend the night in their units. (Yes, I've seen that at other locations.) The floors and walls were freshly painted and new unit number signs placed after I arrived, and I always see staff in the building keeping things tidy. Not as much of a dust problem like I had at other places. I also like the donation bin that's just outside one of the buildings -- and it's used frequently. When I've had to switch payment details or contact info, it's always handled in a fast, professional manner. Chris is great at resolving any issues ASAP. Easy access from 101 or CalTrain, too. Definitely plan on keeping stuff here for a while. read more

I needed a unit immediately (preparation for fire evacuation). I called, spoke to Steve, and he was super helpful. He outlined my options and I was able to lock into a unit and complete all of the paperwork over the phone. Once I was on-site, he gave me the nickel tour, showed me how it all works, answered a few questions and I was off on my own. It's clean, quiet and organized. I used SPS for the last year. The facilities are clean and the prices are reasonable. To be honest, those aspects are probably true of the other local storage services. However, my experience with SPS was made 1000x better because of the manager, Steve. Here's what happened: I was rushing to pack my belongings into storage before a relocating flight the next morning. I left a lot to the last minute, and tried to pack everything into storage the evening before. Steve stayed after closing time so that I could finish unpacking my car without getting locked in to the parking lot. The next morning before my flight, I still had more things to unpack, and no time to spare. Steve was there before opening time as listed online. I unloaded the rest of my things, made my flight, and rested easy that night. Thanks again to Steve for that specific incident and every positive interaction I had with him after that. (I forgot to update my credit card info a few times, and he was always patient and understanding when he called to let me know.) As a last note, I felt bad that Steve stayed after hours so I thought I should make it up to him by tipping him for that bonus time. He refused with a smile. Moving is pretty awful but I was pleasantly surprised how easy things were to both get a unit, move my stuff in, go in occasionally and then finally move out. I never saw more than a handful of people there, everything was clean and because of the flow of people there were always carts. Steve was fantastic and very helpful! I came here the other day with my mother to help her move a few things into her storage unit that had belonged to a dear friend of hers that had just passed away. She wasn't in the best of moods which obviously had me in a bad mood. However, once we arrived at the storage, She couldn't remember her code. We were relocating to the Bay Area from Connecticut and needed a place to store all our worldly possessions for a couple months until our house was ready. Needless to say, the choice of a storage facility for such an endeavor is not a trivial decision. Steve, the manager at Redwood City's Security Public Storage could not have been nicer. He inspired a great deal of confidence and made it all extremely easy. This was particularly important as I was trying to arrange this from 3000 miles away! The facility is very secure, clean, and well managed. They were able to help us lock in a unit that would house our stuff in advance and on the day of the move to accommodate the huge semi tractor trailer that delivered our goods. Steve has been helpful at very stage. The online system, including bill pay, is very handy - especially if you are not local. All in all, they have played a key role in making our cross country move less stressful and we would recommend this facility and the team there to anyone. read more

I highly recommend this facility! No one likes the idea of putting their belongings in a storage facility. However sometimes there is a need. Researching storage facilities in an area I was not 100% familiar with originally appeared to be a daunting task...until I met Steve the manager at Security Public Storage! After I asked a million questions (no one ever rolled their eyes or became impatient) both phone & in person I realized that it was a safe place & they were kind people. Exactly what one needs in transition. I was able to be extremely self sufficient the numerous times I've been their alone. Their easy parking, elevators, lighting and carts make this a breeze when you need to be in & out regularly. I just wanted to update with some kudos for Steve. Steve is a very helpful and friendly guy. When we finally got our act together enough to get our stuff out of storage, he was great about having me pay on move out day and also pro-rated for the time we were there. I still stand by what I said about the hours not being optimal but I can also understand why they limit the hours. I was worried that the space might be dirty inside after removing everything but due to the indoor location I didn't have to sweep or do any clean up.
