Charles was amazing! He is so thorough and offered to FaceTime with me to get a better understanding of all the furniture pieces I have. At the same time he gave me a quick tour of the facility. In the end he sent me to the Daly City location because he didn't have larger units available. Even with two 5x10 he's concerned not everything will fit and wouldn't want me to rent a third one due to the higher cost. Overall, I had a great experience coming here with movers to store my bedroom furniture and miscellaneous boxes today, with the plan of keeping them in storage for just one month as I search for my next apartment. Charles was very helpful and great to chat with as we waited for the movers to unpack my things from the truck and load them into my 5x10 unit. Since the ceiling is high, they were easily able to stack things on top of each other and fit it all in perfectly, with room to spare! It's also nice that I can come and go if I need to drop something else off into storage or take something out. You're given an access code specific to only you to get into the building and operate the elevator, and you can buy a storage lock/key from them if you don't have your own. I think overall the rates are affordable or at least in this case, very worth it since it's a secure and organized storage building. If I don't find a new apartment in a month, I'll be happy to keep my things in this storage unit for a while longer-- it's actually quite a relief knowing at least my things are secure as I stay with friends in the meantime! Chris helped me out here last night, and I've got to give the kids props for his customer service. before walking in I saw this young guy that looked dead inside, and figured I was going to get some manic depressive mellenial giving me crap service, but once I walked through the door he was on his feet and happy and attentive. really cool guy. the place itself seems well managed, clean, and secure. alarms and cameras everywhere. This place is a gem!  I was so pleased to find it - I didn't even know it was here in Hayes Valley, on Page Street.  Very conveniently located, right behind Zuni's on Market Street, and a block away from the Civic Center Muni at Van Ness and Market.  As a non-driver, I find this a blessing.  This is a smaller facility than many large impersonal storage places, and therefore the management knows their customers better.  The assistant manager Candace, who first helped me, was very kind and understanding on the phone, and gave me a tour of possible units.  Later I met the manager Charles, who was also helpful on the phone with paperwork, and even physically assisted my move-in, navigating my carts into the building.  This Security Public Storage is a friendly place, pleasant to come into. Bonus points for having a bathroom that is in the lobby, and decorated with lots of art! (The manager Charles is an artist).  It's like a little gallery, uplifting to the spirits during the stress of moving! read more

Honestly, I'd give them a 5-star, but they have so many already ... - and no one reads those anyway. The lesser reviews get read (at least thats what I do, starting with 1-star). That said, Charlie is really helpful and friendly. I do wish the hours were longer - often get ready to go, then realize they close in 30 min/whatever. I did at first make the mistake of choosing a Mezzanine unit (cheaper), but I have bad knees and that elevator doesn't carry passengers. However, I switched to a 3rd fl unit and that is working out nicely with the roll-on elevator. First experience with self-storage, and it's ok. Charlie really treats me right, so kudos there. There are other places close by, but I don't see a reason to go there. Its convenient (to me), clean, and I like the 'family' atmosphere - as opposed to a hulking business approach that others have (team shirts, distain for customers, all about the Benjamins ...) read more

In 2011 we stored a whole house full while renovating, moved most of it back a year later and kept a small locker for the next 11 years. After 12 years we finally closed out the small locker. The facility is clean and bright and easy to access. But this facility has Charles. And Charles is the best! He genuinely cares about his customers and goes way above and beyond. I accidentally asked that the storage be set up 3 days before my move in date and he immediately called me to let me know. He could have easily billed me for the extra days. Then when I showed up with the moving truck, I started panicking because it didn't look like the storage unit could fit all the things in the truck. I immediately asked about renting a second unit. Charles, ever patient and calm, suggested I wait and see if the movers could fit it all in. He also saw that some of the furniture could be broken down further and grabbed some tools and helped me disassemble. Charles is such an incredibly generous person. And in the end, it all fit! If you have the opportunity to be able to have your equipment or furniture stored at this property in between living spaces or just for work you're in luck! Comparing this to any other storage property in the city is not comparable. The prices here are just a tad bit higher but you pay for what you get.
