I've walked by plenty of times and there always seems to be a line. Today I finally found out what the fuss is all about. With a 50% off coupon in tow (Chinook book) and a gal pal by my side I made my way in for a late lunch. The ordering process was simple as hanging blackboards reflected the offerings. I really appreciated that they clearly indicated items they were out of as well. Nothing bums me out more than when you have your heart set on a menu item only to find out it's no longer available when you go to place your order. Staff were happy to provide samples of some of the offerings (soup) and answer most questions. While most if not all ingredients are sourced from the local Farmer's Market it is unclear which ingredients are organic. While I went with the asparagus soup with bok choy and beet salad my friend went with the seasonal salad (it was adorned with fresh flowers! So pretty)and tomato soup. The tomato soup was outstanding. It tasted fresh and bright, basically a mouth-full of sunshine. My soup was quite nice as well with great smooth texture and color. While my salad was plentiful it didn't have the flavor or appeal that my friend's salad had. Guess I had a case of the lunch envies. There were a variety of seating options with plenty of windows to gaze out of. Overall nice uplifting dining experience. read more

I visited Seeds today for coffee with a friend. It is a beautiful cafe, overlooking the Boulder Creek. The atmosphere is very peaceful (as expected in a library),modern and minimalist. They serve lunch, locally sourced but I did not taste the food. My latte, made with coconut milk (they don't have almond milk) was good and the barista friendly. They offer "dinner on the bridge", a five course meal prepared by Boulder chefs, featuring local farmers and artisans. This is quite tempting! You may have to call for details as I could not find any mention of the dinners on their website. A nice quite place to enjoy coffee or lunch in a beautiful setting! read more

This is definitely one of the best places to study in Boulder. This is a bit of a hidden treasure that I wish more people knew about. The Boulder Public Library looks beautiful after the renovations they made. To supplement the great additions they made they added this small coffee shop into the back. Not only does this coffee shop serve great coffee, they also serve an excellent view overlooking Boulder Creek. If you haven't been here before, then make sure you stop by to take a gander. You can check out books from a wide selection at the library and then cozy down at the coffee shop. The baristas are incredibly friendly and charismatic too, so don't be afraid to strike up a conversation. All in all, this place is something worth checking out. read more

I have been dying to come here ever since I heard they were opening. I think I visited nearly every weekend in April to check on progress. The main library is one of my favorite places to pass the time and I am so happy they finally have a a cafe. Seeds fits the new vibe so well! The staff is amazing. They're friendly and warm, and absolutely sincere in their service and attention. The cafe decor is lovely. It's modern with cool, clean lines and great pops of bright orange, yellow and lime green all over. There's plenty of seating along windows so you can watch the creek and the wildlife outside. There are lots of tables too -- your usual cafe tables near the counter, a couple longer tables to accommodate a big group, and several movable round tables and stools scattered about for you to set your beverages on while you study, chat or work. The back wall hosts a good amount of outlets so you can easily set up shop and work for the day (I plan to do just that in the near future). There's a more intimate sofa area to sit and relax, too. The atmosphere is great. It's not overly loud even when its busy and you can feel free to talk in your normal voice. A big relief for those of us whose inside voice gets you dirty looks. (FYI - the dedicated quiet study area is on the opposite side of the library - upstairs in front of the spiral staircase behind the magazines.) Today I had a cup of cream of white mushroom soup with a slice of fresh rosemary bread and a hot chai - they serve Third Street here. The soup was delicious - admittedly my first time eating mushroom soup too. I had forgotten my water bottle this morning so I was pleased to find that they have a self-serve water cooler with a stack of reusable cups right in front of the grab and go selection. In fact, all of the food and beverages are served on/in reusable dinnerware and flatware which I really appreciated. The prices are reasonable and they use an iPad for checkout so it's quick and easy to leave a tip on a card if you don't have cash for the tip jar. After my snack I stayed for a bit and sipped my chai while I did some reading, and a bit of work on the computer on the city wifi (you get a good connection all over the library). I loved that I didn't feel rushed in the way which isn't always the case in when I stay awhile to use the wifi at the coffee shops downtown. For a public library in the middle of Boulder, I think it's pretty decent. The fact that a cafe is also located inside the library is a bonus! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming in a way that makes you forget time. The cafe also looks over Boulder Creek! So beautiful. I later on met a friend here and we both ordered food. I got a Sprouted salad which consisted of radish and a bit of greens. My friend got a grilled cheese sandwich. We both liked the fact that the food was fresh and clean but to be honest, my salad would not satisfy a hungry person whatsoever. I thought it lacked protein mostly because the portion was rather small! But then again it is a small cafe in a library so I don't think I should expect much. We also had tea, coffee, and a matcha latte. They were all average. read more

Fantastic coffee, baked goods, and lunch. The food is locally sourced and they continually have the most inventive lattes in town - basil lattes, unicorn lattes (made out of beet syrup!). The staff is super lovely and they generously will share tips (like sharing how to make your own beet syrup and candied beets for sprinkles). I usually stop by once or two a week for a lovely, affordable lunch when I'm at the library. Definitely recommend checking out this gem in the public library. read more

I drove around and around not realizing that this was actually inside the library! So there's a helpful tip, park and go in and you can easily find the place, it's over Boulder Creek! And wow what a beautiful library, as soon as I walked in I took a detour and decided to get a library card!!! I feel like a kid again getting so excited about reading and books. The library itself is very big and beautiful, with a grassy area outside where lots of people were lounging and there's a little playground for kids. The cafe was nice and clean, finding a table was hard as there were many people and lots of kids (since school is out for the summer.) I got a delicious peppermint iced tea that was so refreshing and was able to land a table looking out right over the water! A little noisier than I thought it would be, but I had some headphones and decided to play some jazz to drown out the talk. I'm really looking forward to coming back here and doing homework for my online classes, what a great spot! read more

This is my favorite spot to bring people for lunch in the city. Great local food (I love the salads) with an absolutely fantastic view over the boulder creek. Free 90 minute parking in the library lots or, even better, walk in along the creek. read more

The coffee and sandwiches are slightly better than average, but what really makes this place is the location and friendly service. The cafe is within the library, and is directly above the river. I've found it to be an extremely peaceful place to work with a laptop, have a drink of coffee, and look out the window as kayakers and tubers float down the river beneath me. read more
