You walk into See's Candies at the Brea Mall expecting some magical Willy Wonka type customer service, right? Smiles, good vibes, maybe someone acting like they actually enjoy handing out chocolate samples. Instead we got the most miserable experience ever. We asked for ONE sample and the employee stretched, sighed, and took the deepest breath Sir... you are not handcrafting the candy bean by bean The attitude was actually insane. It felt like asking for a sample ruined this man's entire life. Even the Oompa Loompas worked harder pulling Augustus Gloop out the river than this employee did handing over a tiny piece of chocolate. Like, if you hate your job that much just say that. Mark helped me I actually came in to get those Marshmallow caramel things but can you believe they aren't getting them in? All the stores he said for a couple months now. I was so sad but I did end up getting the Sees Lollipop box with the variety flavors. It's one of my favorites here and baby girl loves them too. I also love the mint crisps I usually always get a box but not today lol. I love all the candies here it's just candy heaven for us all chocolates galore to melt in your mouth and in your hands lol. Love that they still give a sample of one chocolate to try that's so sweet. I ended up trying the chocolate caramel marshmallow which was incredible but not the same as the caramel marshmallow please bring those back they are a favorite. But the customer service is always wonderful everyone always greets you when you walk in and with a smile. Sort of busy today of course for the Holiday's. Prior to Christmas, I had to search out several Sees stores to get a specific toffee the others were out of. The Brea staff were very helpful. They did try an upscale and that's ok. Sometimes the stores overwhelm one with updates and it's a turn off but they didn't push. Also, I appreciated the chocolate sample of my choice. Of all the Sees stores, this is my favorite. See's Candies is definitely a classic! It's the stuff dreams are made of lol. It's what I grew up eating, and what my family bought on special occasions for us and also to give out to our friends/loved ones on holidays. The tradition continues. Service is always exceptional, and the staff is very friendly. They almost always offer you a sample of chocolate while you wait in line... so you walk in eating chocolate and hopefully walk out with chocolate :) My absolute favorite is the tin of TOFFEETTES (now $19.50) I also like their molasses chips, MAPLE CASHEW BRITTLE $12, and the 1 lb box of chocolate Nuts And Chews $19.50. I went to get See's the day before a gift exchange at work, and checked Yelp to find out if there was a location open past their normal closing time of 9pm. It was 9:30pm at the time, and Yelp said the Brea Mall location was open until 11pm, so I drove there and arrived at 9:53pm. I called to find out how long the line was and then asked what time they closed. So glad I did! To my surprise, the associate said 10pm so I rushed inside the mall straight to the store. I ran like there was no tomorrow. Luckily, I made it right before closing... and of course I was offered chocolate in line, which eased my moment of stress. I recently went into another location and had a bad experience. I needed to make an exchange because the candy I purchased from the other location was bad/stale. I have loved See's Candies since I was a little girl. My mom used to always buy boxes of See's for friends and family each Christmas. I guess it was a bit of a tradition that has stuck throughout the years. The service is always great here, and they always hand out samples while we're waiting in line. Samples of chocolate can make even the longest wait in line much easier to handle. Everything here is so good, and there's definitely something here for everyone. I usually get molasses chips or pecan buds for my grandpa, and the rest of my family likes the individual milk bordeauxs or a box of the milk chocolates. I sometimes get a custom box for those who have more specific taste. They even have sugar free peanut brittle and dark chocolate with almonds for diabetic family members and friends, and I'm told these are actually pretty good. With the holiday season coming, I like shopping for fun chocolate Santas and other really cute Christmas boxes and candies. I really love this store, especially at Christmas and can't wait to finish the yummiest part of my shopping list for family and friends. read more

Easter is always once of the best time to visit See's Candies. So is Valentines Day. And also Christmas. And in the middle of summer. It's chocolate! Probably is, they aren't cheap. But it's high quality so you get what you pay for. Free samples? You bet! We were discussing the sugar free peanut brittle - and was immediately asked if we wanted a sample. While browsing the store, we were given samples. They were busy so it took a while to check out, and then gave us ANOTHER sample! I've gone a couple times where they've described the sample and I'm like "uh - pass" and they ask me what sample I "DO" want. Talk about service. read more

Two custom See's Candies boxes were ordered and they were filled in a timely manner. Samples were given if we were unsure of the piece of chocolate we were ordering. Pretty impressive. Sees is easily my favorite candy shop and after the holidays, I typically end up with more than I should consume. However, I do not let that stop me. You are either a fan of the candy or you are not - but this review is more about the service of this particular store. I usually receive a prepackaged box or some other item, but this Christmas I received a few gift certificates and decided to finally take the plunge and create my own box. I found it both liberating and terrifying. The lady working there, I think her name was Lauren, was wonderful. Very friendly, helpful, and never once made me feel rushed or uncomfortable. There was a lot of foot traffic in the store and it is a smaller location in the mall, but she handled herself very well. She was friendly and gave a lot of help and that's all I can ask for - it was really a very pleasant experience. Amazing sized samples!! Although this See's Candies is a bit of a squeeze, this little shop at the Brea Mall proves to be outstanding. The lady inside was very friendly and patient while helping out each customer. Although it was pretty crowded inside, she stayed calm at all times. Every customer left with their treat, a free sample, and a smile. As I approached the counter, the lady was apologetic for the line and answered every question I had about flavors and choices. As she rang me up, I told her about how on yelp their store was rated very highly and that I appriciated their customer service. She was super happy to hear about that. Oh See's, how I love thee! Since I've been coming here since I could walk, I have a very special place in my heart reserved for See's! Besides Fran's Chocolates, See's definitely has the world's best specialty chocolates...nothing else comes close! If you like harder chocolates, definitely go with their California brittle - it comes in either a dark chocolate or milk chocolate version. Both are buttery, crunchy, and amazing! Or, you can get it in a white chocolate format, which is also incredibly yummy. I really love their caramel patties - one piece actually comes with two patties, which is great because I always want more of these! I know it sounds kind of nutty (no pun intended) because you can find caramel patties at most chocolate stores, but seriously...none like the ones at See's. They use the highest quality of caramel because the texture is incredibly smooth! If you like sprinkles and more buttery flavors, check out the Bordeaux. If you enjoy a little bit of an alcoholic kick, try the Rum Nougat. If you just want a solid chocolate, go for the Vanilla Cream. If you want something extra soft and chewy, check out the Scotchmallow, which resembles s'mores. Don't bother going for the truffles - they're not nearly as good as the classics, plus they are smaller and sometimes cost a bit more. Also, avoid getting any of the nut clusters, as those are just nuts covered with chocolate; while they're good, they're definitely not their best chocolates. I'm not a fan of their lollipops either, but it's probably because I don't particularly like hard candy. See's gives out samples, so if there's a chocolate you want to try, don't be shy...just ask! I have never encountered an unenthusiastic See's employee because frankly, they just don't exist! How could you not be happy working at a chocolate store?!?!! Their employees are always cheerful and helpful! It's also a great place to buy gifts for people! They have all sorts of prepackaged gift boxes or you can choose to customize your own order in either a bag or a box! My awesome relatives always send us peanut brittle and toffee-ettes, which are some of their best gifts! They always have seasonal items for all of the major holidays, plus for birthdays, weddings, school functions, etc. They occasionally even sell themed boxes because they were selling a Wicked (the musical) box of chocolates for awhile. Why bother going to Godiva?! See's is where it's at!!! :) Their prices are reasonable and their chocolates are unbelievable!
