Visiting Brentwood for the day, and desiring anything to do but accompanying my wife to HomeGoods, I decided to stretch my legs by walking around the shopping center. I rounded the corner, and was surprised to see a whole other section of the center I was unaware of - including, across the street - See's candy! Ignoring my brain's warnings about excess calories, my feet on their own drew me there! Opening the door, the store was empty and I was greeted warmly by a young man behind the counter. I knew just what I wanted: a half pound of our all-time favorite choice - Butterscotch Squares. I love the option to fill a box with exactly the specific candies you want - no cherry fillings! And when you get it at the store, it's completely fresh and tastes out of this world. Great service at the store, fast check out, and a bonus free chocolate of my choice. What more can one ask?! Ordered a box of assorted chocolate candies on-line. Smooth experience. On-line ordering system is perfect, no glitches. Went to the store and .....I second the other negative comments about HOW RUDE the ladies working there are. When I showed them that I have placed an order on-line they look at my phone, didn't listen to me spelling my last name (as it could be a difficult one --- but this is California, hello??!!), and without saying a word and looked for the young man working in the back of the store who was very helpful. So, in summary, I wonder why are these people working there as if they own the company? California is very diverse. These rudeness does not belong here. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. A woman named Katherine was foul, rude and condescending to myself and my friend, both me and my friend are of Latin descent. She was nice to all of the white people who came through her line, offered them multiple samples and a friendly smile. When my friend and I came up, we were not offered samples OR smiles. When we asked for samples, she rolled her eyes and gave us one sample to share. She spoke with so much exaggerated enunciation, I wanted to speak Spanish just to spite her. She didnt offer any conversation, just answered questions with one-work answers. I felt like I was being rushed to pick out my stuff, pay and get out. I wouldn't normally care, but she was so personable with everyone else, I felt like me and my friend were being singled out. I have never in my life felt more uncomfortable or unwelcome in a See's. Everyone else in the shop was nice enough, but Katherine made me want to shrink into nothing and never set foot inside that store again. read more

I always try to dedicate my milestone reviews to a business that screams out either old time nostalgia that brings back my childhood memories or delightful sugary indulgences. My 500th review combines both of these: See's Candies. I remember going to the store in Pittsburg when it was near Target. My mom on what seemed like every major holiday (Christmas, Easter and every so often Valentines), would come here to pick up a pound of nuts & chews and a pound of lollipops. I also remember my aunt bringing us some whenever she visited. I remember each box festively wrapped in bright reds for Christmas, bright reds with pink hearts for Valentines, and bright greens with pastel eggs for Easter. All these memories are relived whenever I visit a store, most recently today. It is rare that I visit See's on the day of a major chocolate holiday. It was doubly rare to see most of their shelves empty, but that's expected especially for See's. Mary See would be happy to see her cute granny workers working as hard as they were today, making sure everyone got their sweet treats for their loved ones. With each ring of the cash register came a smile and a "Happy Valentines Day" greeting that filled your heart with warmth - the same kind of warmth your heart feels when you bite into one of their decadent chocolates. No matter where life may take me, a bite out of See's Candies will always bring me close to home. read more

The rudeness of Virginia almost had me set down my $65 purchase and walk out. After my family went in for our holiday See's candy purchase, we grabbed three pounds of our favorite pack of chocolates and got in line to pay. Wonderful Virginia walked out and barked "who's next" at us. I told her we were in line to pay and the lady behind us could be helped. The lady behind us said she was being helped and Virginia looked at my family again and barked another "like I said, who's next?!" If it wasn't a very long family tradition I would have set my things down and had my family walk out. Someone needs to sit down and explain to her why people spend so much money at See's candy. It's not only because of the chocolate most of these stores have amazing customer service but clearly not this one. Luckily the young man who helped us cash out was in a much better holiday spirit and treated us a little more like a valued customer. read more

Mary See would be proud of her workers running around with smiles on their faces wearing the trademark white dress-like outfit with black piping and large bow. I was very impressed by the level of service I received especially since I came up in there with the infamous gift certificate for a pound of either hand-packed or pre-packed chocolates. The whole store smelled delightful and unabashedly summoned my inner fat kid, who am I kidding, the fat kid is now on the outside too!!! Decided on a pre-packed box and even went as far as to set it aside for either future consumption or someone much more deserving of it than I, like Kate Moss for instance! Yesterday I was in the sand creek location they allow 5 customers in the building at a time due to Covid guidelines. With that being said I only had to wait 10 mins for my candy which is basically UNHEARD of during Christmas time. However During my 10 min wait I experienced some of the worst adult behavior by CUSTOMERS! a full grown man behind me threw a fit about the wait (I was in shock because usually it's insane in Christmas season.. like waiting hrs for candy this was only a 10 min wait why is he complaining?! ) the guy legit sat on the ground mad that another lady couldn't come behind the counter to pack a box, mind u he wasn't even next I was. (due to Covid she couldn't) which I totally understand, he proceeded to tap his box on the counter being rude. A blonde Linda behind the counter did amazing with the customer during this mans tantrum & she and didn't let the rude dude behind me effect her at all. A customer from outside also complained having to wait outside and the sees manager kindly came outside to give an explanation about Covid guidelines and candy guide for customers. Give them a break guys it's Covid just be thankful they're open!!! I went in to buy my Christmas candies which I do every year and spend a good bit of money each year to ship to family. Genevieve was so so rude! She has no idea how to serve customers and I hand picked a one pound of candy in addition to my pre packed boxes. She corrected the way I pronounced the candy twice rolled her eyes and was so down right rude to me and my son in front of a lot of people. So so sad and rude...the lady behind me said "geez lady it's just chocolate" to her because she saw how rude she was to us. I think my Christmas tradition may be changing. This See's store used to exist only during the holidays, but now, it is open all year long. I visit See's every other month for my favorite candy, their chocolate pops. Since I am watching my calories, the chocolate pops are only 90 calories and really satisfies my sweet tooth. I LOVE this store and am glad they are close to home.
