When was the last time you left a store thinking, "Wow, the person who helped me was SO nice!"? For me, that was tonight at this See's Candies! I came here 5 minutes before closing tonight and was still warmly greeted with smiles and offers to have a free sample! (If I were working all I'd be thinking is GTFO GTFO GTFO, not even gonna lie.) After she welcomed me and offered me a sample of my choosing, this kind queen then pointed me to exactly what I came in to buy (some nuts and chews for my mom.) She also asked me where I worked and automatically applied my company's corporate discount- wow! The cherry on top was that she gave me a $5 off coupon for my next purchase and sent me skipping out the door. All of this was in just about 3 minutes, so I was completely shocked at how nice and efficient this woman was. See's is always a pleasure but I do have one comment to make. Went to purchase my Christmas Treats and found that they had only a small inventory of sugar-free items available. So many of my friends and family have become very enthusiastic about SUGAR FREE SEE'S. There should be a good variety of both styles of SEE'S available. This Redwood City location is my new favorite! It's huge and the staff is so kind. They always have the individual bags of Scotchmallows (unlike the Hillsdale Mall location that runs out), are so warm to our little dog in our bag (also unlike Hillsdale who shooed us out), and are so generous with giving us samples, even adding a couple more at checkout. The coconut cream is now my favorite because they offered us a sample! Coming here and giving me them business now. 5 stars!!! read more

I like this See's Candies because it has friendly, knowledgeable staff who remember my faves when I come in, and who offer me samples that either complement those favorites, or which push my candy boundaries out a little further. This is a full-size store. If you could take away one piece of wisdom from this See's review, it is this: always plan ahead around the holidays. Don't show up on Valentine's Day or the day before Thanksgiving. The lines will be oppressive. Because everyone wants See's! It's fantastic chocolate. That said, See's in general (the company and all its stores, but possibly not its holiday kiosks) will ship most of its stock to the continental United States, and possibly beyond, during the months of the year where heat risk (chocolate melt) is low. This is super convenient, and also really popular, because everyone in my immediate family loves to get a box of See's for a special occasion. read more

We know the candy is (and will always be GREAT), but I'll just talk about the service and attention at this location. 1. I'm always greeted with a hello. 2. I'm always offered a sample. Sometimes it's my choice and sometimes they choose. 3. The sales associates are quick and attentive, and when I was in for my last visit, I purchased gifts for some coworkers. I appreciate simple things. I waited for this store to open at 10AM, a little later than other See's. I was there about 5 minutes early and was gradually surrounded by senior citizens. :) The store opened at 10, on time. The staff were really nice and attentive during my entire two minutes there. The guy who helped me kept making appropriate jokes about my five pieces of chocolate instead of a 5lb box which keeps 5lbs off me ;) Redwood City See's gets a thumbs up. read more

The candy is nostalgic for me - I grew up thinking it was the ultimate in luxury chocolate. How could I possibly have a chocolate list and leave See's off it for so long? Have I been snorting cocoa powder? I know where all the See's candy locations are the way an alcoholic knows where liquor stores are. See's shops are like shining beacons on my mental map of the Bay Area. See's represents "comfort chocolate" for me. What's good about See's? + While not being the most gourmet chocolate around, it's satisfying and an excellent value for boxed chocolates. + The See's employees are always friendly and generous with samples. + The old-fashioned white and black outfits on See's employees and black and white motif in the stores is downright charming. + See's candies make the perfect gift. It says you care and almost everyone (who isn't dieting) is delighted to receive them. The biggest question usually is whether your gift recipient prefer light or dark, soft center, nuts & chews, or truffles. "Assorted" is usually the safe bet. + There is a sweet rewards discount program for certain companies and service professions. The downsides to See's: - When I gift a box to my out-of-state in-laws, it's hard for me to keep away from it. - Unless you really "know your candies," sometimes you have to cut into them to see what's inside to find your favorites. Or just live on the wild side, take a bite, and see what you get. - Some of the candies contain hydrogenated oil. (Yeah, I'm the annoying self-appointed transfat police.) I dropped in here to pick up a couple sweets for myself and was a little surprised because I hadn't been in a See's in quite awhile. This store seemed very sterile. It's almost too big for the amount in it, as if everything has been spread out to try and make it seem filled. The service was friendly, though they started having a personal conversation involving their manager as they were helping me which was a bit off putting. The chocolate itself was tasty, as See's usually is, and well priced for the amount, two pieces cost me less than two dollars. This store was just lacking in the homely, happy vibe the small chocolate shop in Willow Glen exudes. I don't know that I would come back, or that without the See's name attached to it it would even draw customers on it's own. read more

I like See's because you always know what your going to get here as every store carries the same products, this one is no different. I like getting the custom 1lb boxes instead of their pre-made ones as with those I end up not eating half of them due to them containing ingredients I'm not too keen on. Ok, they're not super high end chocolates but they do the job and you can't beat the 2 x 1lb box certificates for around $27 from Costco. who doesn't love see's candies? for one, they are more affordable than godiva or teuscher or other famous brands of chocolate. and secondly, i think their chocolates still taste great, with a variety of milk, dark, white chocolates and nutty assortments. personally, i'm a dark chocolate kinda gal and i always enjoy their confections that are enrobed in dark chocolate. for valentine's month, they had a dark chocolate truffle shaped like a heart which had rich and creamy dark chocolate on the inside, covered with smooth dark chocolate on the outside. truly a dark chocolate lover's dream! there was also a strawberry truffle with white chocolate on the outside that my husband absolutely loved. what will they come up with next? this location is inside the sequoia station shopping center, and the storefront is moderately sized, not as big as some of their other locations, but big enough to showcase all of their usual offerings of gift boxes, seasonal specials and of course, their signature candy display, behind which the staff is only too eager to assist. parking can be a little troublesome though, especially if you come weekday evenings or on the weekend, so be prepared to circle! read more

This is my go to place for See's Candy. I like their chocolate, popsicles, and I'm a fan of their California cashew brittle. I usually get the one covered in white chocolate, although the milk chocolate one suits me as well. I try not to go too often, but my cravings for the cashew brittle has me in there once in a while. Just in: Extra dark chocolate bars, $2 each. These are going to be a hit! This is the largest See's Candies location I've ever visited. It's a "quantity discount" store; there are two others in the Bay Area - South SF and San Jose. This means is that they handle corporate accounts and fundraisers. They receive more stock/inventory and some special items not carried by other stores (I believe these items are just larger packages, such as an extra large package of lollipops). It's a retail store as well. I was struck by the spaciousness of the place, the shiny floors, the spotlessness of it all. It feels a bit more corporate than the usual See's store. See's cultivates an old fashioned, grandmotherly appeal. They make good old fashioned chocolates and sell them at reasonable prices. They've always been generous with samples. As soon as you walk in, you're offered a sample or two. In recent years, they've expanded the product line with candy bars. The awesome nut and chew bar is my favorite. It's nice and chewy (I hate soft nougat) and covered in dark chocolate. My favorite truffle? Dark chocolate chip. Favorite lollipop? Vanilla. read more

My Grandpa loved these candies and every time we visited him out of state, his one request from California was a box of See's Candies (mixed assortment with multiple layers). My Dad gave me the heart shaped box of See's for Valentine's Day every year of my childhood. I always woke up to the pretty red box on my bedside table and was allowed to eat them at my leisure. Sure, my Mom always made sure we had other presents too, but the See's box was consistent. Maybe she actually bought the candy, but in my memories my Daddy got all the credit. This store is located in Sequoia Station Plaza so parking is fairly easy. The store is fairly large for the amount of product that they sell, so they spread everything out to fill out the space but it's still on the more empty side. If you work in the area and show your work ID (provided that it's with a company that has the partnership with them), they will give you the Sweet Rewards Discount price which is the See's Rewards program. It's for the pre-packaged items only though. Still.. yay for discounts! Not my favorite chocolate as I prefer European chocolates, but I do love their lollipops! Plus if I'm having a tough day and want something chocolatey-sweet. This is nearby my office :) Hopefully you won't have to return anything here though because it's a long process: you have to fill out a form, they have to enter it in the system, then do the return/exchange. Takes awhile. They also usually give you a LOT of grief about it since most of them don't know how to do it. =/ read more

This is the best candy in California. I grew up on See's, and so will my children. I remember going with my Grandma when I was a little girl, and picking out the Milk Molasses Chips. MMMMM!!!!
