We arrived early and our movie didn't start for a few more hours, so we decided to kill some time at My Candy Fix and the next door GameStop. While in My Candy Fix, I noticed they had Sno-Biz snocones. We got some candy and walked around the mall a little bit before returning. I got a small size snocone and had to wait a little while as the cashier had to tend to other customers. Once the other customers were helped, I got my cone, and John offered to put in some extra to compensate the wait. One of my friends wanted to know what the snocone syrup tasted like, and offered to buy a small size without any ice. John told him that there was no need to pay, and gave him a "shot" of strawberry snocone syrup. After that, my other friend wanted to try the Rube Goldberg-esque gumball machine. Towards the end of the gumball's ride, it fell off the track. It still fell into the dispenser, but we still wanted to know what happened at the end. That's when John came over and put in his own coins to see why the gumball fell off. After finding out, he too a gumball from the top of the machine and put it on the remaining part of the track so we could see how it ends. And he also let us keep the test-gumballs! Overall, my experience was incredible and without John, it would've just been another run-of-the-mill candy store. But John made my friends and my experience worthwhile, and I'll be sure to drop by again.

They also had chocolate and taffy, which my daughter got a small bag of their cotton candy salt water taffy. We ordered some ice cream for the kids, cotton candy, and by then there was a long line of people behind us. There were two teenagers working and the one helped us get the ice cream and check us out. The kids ate some of the cotton candy ice cream but didn't finish it all. May have been too cold and windy outside to enjoy it since that was the only place to eat it. I thought it was creamy and sweet but nothing special. I got the huckleberry cheese cake and wish there was more cheesecake pieces in it. My husband found me one good piece to try and it just wasn't enough.

They have quite a variety of candy options, including homemade fudge and chocolates. They also have a cotton candy machine. They offer coffee beverages and souvenirs as well as ice-cream. I ended up purchasing some taffy, which was really good. They have many flavors...cookies & cream, cotton candy, strawberry banana, lemon meringue, vanilla, watermelon, cherry, black licorice, hot cinnamon (super hot), coconut, peppermint, chocolate, huckleberry, buttered popcorn, caramel swirl, pomegranate, tangerine, apple pie, green apple, chocolate caramel mocha, raspberry lemonade and frosted cupcake. We enjoyed all flavors except hot cinnamon and watermelon. Both were way too overpowering with flavor. I also bought some of the homemade Peanut Butter Explosion fudge. It was so good! Perfect combination of peanut butter and chocolate fudge. Overall I was impressed with this candy store. Everything was fresh, prices were reasonable, and service friendly. Would definitely recommend.

If you ever find yourself wandering through the salt-kissed mist of Cannon Beach with sand…read morein your shoes and an ache for something sweet in your soul, go ahead and duck into Schwietert's Cones & Candy. It's a sugar-slinging time machine. Shelves groan under the weight of taffy in colors that don't occur in nature and fudge dense enough to warp gravity. I had the ice cream. Two scoops. Marionberry Pie and Mountain Huckleberry. Both from Tillamook, which around here is less a brand and more a benevolent dairy cult. These berries are like edible postcards from the Pacific Northwest. One bite and you're knee-deep in a foggy forest thinking you hear Bigfoot weeping quietly from joy. Of course the prices are high. You're in a town where the beach views are free and everything else makes up for it. The real gamble is who hands you your scoop. Some of us got generous lumps the size of a toddler's fist while others looked like they'd been served a sample. Such is life in a democracy. The lines wound throughout the store, but it moved along at a respectable clip. People were smiling. Sugar does that. All in all, this is the kind of place that doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. A temple to nostalgia. A sanctuary for the sweet-toothed and sunburnt. Four stars. One star held in reserve for the day someone figures out how to standardize scoop sizes.

It was a mixture of candy, waffle cones and other goodies. But first we needed to have lunch and I promised we would be back for some ice cream. What's a vacation without a daily scoop of ice cream ESPECIALLY when you are on vacation with your GG? I made good on my promise. We walked in and were met with a display of various fudge, saltwater taffy galor but we were there for some ice cream. Which was located at the back of the store. Displayed in all its yumminess was various flavors of Tillamook ice cream. Granddaughter chose birthday cake. I had jamoca almond fudge and my son had a cherry jubilee. We found seating outside in a courtyard where we enjoyed our ice cream before our big drive home.
