I…read morewas a For Sale By Owner, and wanted to make sure I had checks & balances and that everything was in order for the sale. Scheduling my appointment was quick and easy; Destiny was absolutely wonderful and offered premier customer service! The technician arrived a little early for the appointment time which was great with my busy schedule that day. He was warm and friendly, and the check-up didn't take as long as I expected. After the check-up he walked me through and explained everything he checked and the condition of my HVAC unit, coils, and more. I felt comfortable that I chose the right company. During the closing of my house, the buyers continued to tell me they felt like there was something wrong with the a/c and wanted me to either replace the 5 year old unit, or reduce my selling price by $6,500 although the unit was cooling perfectly. To satisfy the buyers, Hobgood came out early again on a Saturday to check the unit with the buyers present; Robert at Hobgood inspected the HVAC again and told the buyers the unit was just fine. Later the following week, I received an invoice from the buyer's realtor for over $6,000 from Hobgood to replace the entire unit. The realtor told me that the coils, HVAC, and many other things needed to be replaced and the buyers wanted the that amount reduced off of the sales price or else they were going to cancel the contract. Confused by the entire situation, I called Hobgood and spoke with Destiny, who immediately called Robert to figure out what was really going on with my HVAC... Apparently, Robert told the buyers the HVAC system was just fine, then the buyers asked Robert to send them an invoice for the full price "Just incase" the complete HVAC system ever needed to be replaced. Then, the buyers sent that same invoice to me to demand a reduction of my sales price stating the unit had many problems. Upset, I immediately called the buyer's Realtor and told her what I learned from Hobgood and that I was not lowering my price one cent, I told her that they could cancel their contract if they wanted to because they were being so very shady in trying to get me to drop the price from day one. Needless to say, the buyers did cancel the contract since I refused to drop my sales price. My house did end up selling the very next month and the final buyers had absolutely no issues with the HVAC. Thanks to the honest business practices at Hobgood Mechanical, I ended up saving over $6,000 on the sale of my house. If you're looking for a company that is honest, has integrity, offers premier customer service, has competitive rates, and is conveniently located in Creedmoor, I highly recommend Hobgood to everyone!     Warning: Review Coercion & $1,100+ Pricing Discrepancy…read more I used Santa Air for five years and recommended them to many friends. Unfortunately, their business model has changed from "honest and hardworking" to "opaque and manipulative." The Technical Issues: In 2020, Santa Air installed my trane system but failed to properly connect the emergency heat strips. I spent five winters wondering why my house wouldn't stay warm below 30°F. They missed this mistake during every subsequent maintenance visit over the 5 years. Recently, they tried to charge me $1,700 for repairs I didn't need. A second opinion confirmed their diagnosis was wrong; that technician fixed Santa Air's original installation mistake and the actual sensor issue for a total of $575. The Billing Issues: Their current pricing "tiers" (Bronze, Silver, Gold) are incredibly over-inflated compared to other local HVAC companies. And if you only need a repair included in the Gold tier, you have to pay for all the things you don't need in the tiers below it. When I realized the invoice was vague and the work wasn't needed, I cancelled. The Ethics Issue: The most disappointing part was the office's response. They tried to emotionally guilt-trip me. They held my refund hostage, telling me they would only return my money if I removed my negative reviews. I refused to be coerced and had to fight for three months through my bank to recover the funds for services never rendered. Don't let the high star rating fool you--they are actively pressuring customers to delete bad experiences. Always get a second opinion!!!
