I borrowed my dad's car, and within 10 minutes of being behind the wheel, scratched the hell out of the front bumper against a concrete parking garage column. These guys rock. They have fixed up my car three times in the past few years after car accidents. The communication is great. They call every couple days with a status update so you are always kept informed. Since I live in Noe I walked down to the old location to pick up my car and discovered that they have moved. I was in a hurry to get to a dinner meeting so when I called them they helped me out by racing over to the old location with my car and the paperwork. Can I give 6 stars? After some low-life smacked my car and took off, I was looking to get my bumper repaired. The corner was bashed in badly and I was sure it was going to require replacing the whole thing. The manager (owner?) looked it over and said $900-1000 to replace it--a little less than what I expected. I asked about cheaper ways to fix it without making it perfect and he said they could try popping it out with a heat gun, but the results usually weren't very good after repainting. Then he says, you want us to try it? I say sure. They did it right on the spot, and I couldn't believe it, the thing looked great with only a small scratch visible. The thing that really impressed me was everyone there was so nice. When I asked how much for the repair, he says "no charge". Wow, totally unexpected. By the way, I had had my rear bumper reworked and painted at Selecta about 5 years ago. That work has been perfect--you could never tell it had been repaired even after all this time. Returned to Selecta with another dent in our car. Again, very impressive service. JR quoted a reasonable price for the work but then advised to hold fire on getting the work done given that SF tends to be a bruising experience for cars. Furthermore, he found time for me to drop by for his team to remove paint marks around the dent but refused to take money for the time spent. In Europe and the US, I haven't come across such straight-forward and reasonable people in auto. These are my go-to guys for when we get the repairs done and for any dings in the meantime. read more

I hired Selecta to work on my 1969 280sl Mercedes Benz. The entire floor of the car including the firewall needed to be fully replaced. The work was extremely extensive and far more costly than the shop estimated. When I went to pick up my car Selecta honored their original quote despite the hundreds of hours of additional work. Best auto body shop in the city! Twice I've used them when both my mini-coopers got into a car accident. The first time, my insurance company highly recommend Selecta and so I went to them and boy was I glad I did! They got my Clubman back into top shape and they made it a priority to get it done as quickly as possible. When I got my new Countryman into an accident this year, Selecta was the first shop I called. JR sent his favorite tow guy to pick up my car and he took care of everything with my insurance. Within a week, I got my car all shiny and new-looking and you'd never guess that a deer did major damage to it. After 25 years with no claims, we had two incidents this month in which our cars were damaged. One car was hit while parked, the other had some undercarriage damage after hitting some metal debris on the freeway. So on Thursday July 13th at 10:50 a.m. I spoke to Andy from select auto body and informed him that AAA had recommended them to repair the damage to a family vehicle which had been struck while it was legally parked on a street in San Francisco! Fortunately a San Francisco police officer witnessed the collision and provided us with all the pertinent information as to who the driver was and where the vehicle was registered in Vallejo and that it was insured with Farmers Insurance Plus the policy number! So when I spoke to Andy he indicated that he wanted the vehicle brought in at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning and although I knew at the time that it would impose on my schedule I agreed to it! So we drove the car in and got there at 8:15 a.m. Andy told us that it would take 30 minutes to examine the vehicle in the process they did find more damage than the owner had assess and part of the damage was a tire that was not holding air and they were nice enough to take out the spare and exchange. What Andy did not tell me at the time we spoke at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday July 13th was that they are busy and have more cars than they can store! I now come to find that AAA was having the vehicle picked up by tow truck and driven over to the auto body shop but they cannot take the vehicle because again they are wall-to-wall customers! Had he informed me that they had a backlog of vehicles I would have selected the second or third AAA recommendation but I would have asked them if they could take the vehicle and repair it as quickly as possible because one of the things that is missing on the car is that the Collision tore off the driver side mirror and that car is dangerous to drive without it! So this thing has become like a three-ring circus trying to contact the tow truck drivers not to come because there's nowhere for them to put the vehicle if it is towed into selecta I am now having to try to contact AAA to see if they can either provide her with a car until such time as selecta has the ability to receive the car and start repairs immediately! I am very disappointed in the fact that they conveniently left out the fact that they were going to bring in the car on their own time not on the owners time which is a great inconvenience to this family! So if you deal with this company this business the first thing you should ask is are you prepared to take the vehicle right this moment and repair it, and if not how soon? read more

I called Anthony at 8:30am and told him I needed to get my 4 year old car (properly thrashed by a 5 year old child) ready to deliver to its new owner by 11am that day. Needless to say, I expected him to politely decline or worse, laugh me off the phone. Instead, he was amazingly helpful. He said they'd find a way to take care of me and that I should head on over. What I asked for didn't fit their standard menu of services but he was unfazed - I got exactly what I needed and they charged me a very reasonable price (less than I would've expected to pay given the circumstances). The service and results were amazing! Their shop is clean. The signage is awesome. The people couldn't be friendlier. I have nothing bad to say and feel very lucky that I found them on Yelp and gave them a call. Top notch customer service. My car was rear ended and I decided to bring it here based on all of the positive Yelp reviews although it was not on the "approved list" for the insurance company. I have had nightmare experiences with other auto body shops in the past where they are non communicative and I have had to constantly call and get my own updates. Not here. From start to finish everything here was done efficiently and I was kept updated on the status of my car. Also, my car was ready for pickup exactly when they told me it would be. Small things like this matter, especially for someone like myself who is extremely busy most of the week so I have to plan and schedule everything accordingly. There was one hiccup when I picked my car up. I didn't even make it down the block before my tire pressure light came on so I made a quick u-turn and brought my car back. The valve you put air into needed to be tightened, a quick fix but everyone there was very apologetic about me having to come back and the manager gave me a free gift for the inconvenience. I am so happy to have my car back in mint condition! My car looks perfect and they even washed the outside and cleaned the inside for me. I was very pleased with the service and customer service here and I will use Selecta for any auto services needed in the future. read more
